i have almost 5 years of pasta cooking experience on account of being in grad school and pasta being cheap.

ok so pasta basically doubles in size when cooked so think of how much pasta you want, half that, and that’s how much pasta you need. like take your fav bowl and fill it just below half way and you should have the proper amount of pasta. the smaller the pasta, the more below that half way you go. with spag, you should be able to cover half the top of the bowl with the noodles all in a single layer.

how are you supposed to know what a serving size of pasta is it's like trying to learn to fly there's just simply no way
