So since ÆÆ anon was concerned abt what was going on with my being blackmailed, I come here with updates on that situation first and foremost, before I deal with ÆÆ's bloodthirstiness.

so. I got into contact with my blackmailer. they were willing to stop being a fuckin creep (even after I used a machine gun to chase them off of my lawn), and that's all good and all, but. I chased them off with my gun bc they revealed themself to be fucking ÆÆ anon.

so anyway. we had a civil conversation after my overreaction. they called me stormy (jealous, qaa?) and then I fucking realized. they didn't even fuckin know who I was. I told them, i told them: "fuck u for fuckin my mom and fuckin my ex that's fucked up" and they still didn't know who i was. this bitch is ominously coming to other anons' doorsteps too???? THEY WERENT JUST FUCKING MY MOM. WILBUR SEMI DEFENDER, I THINK THEY WERE FUCKING YUOR MOM TOO. DONT TRUST THEM DONT FUCK THEM THEY FUCKED YOUR MOM

I'll give them this, tho. they were very apologetic for mistaking me for other anons. and for apparently not having given much of a fuck abt my mom. oh my God I think they fucked ****** anon's mom too... you really get around, huh? I'm frankly a little impressed, but mostly fuckin disgusted.

Welp, first was Huey's 2nd borthday, now it's Pig's 1st birthday!

The item she's holding is actually a small pillow which some rumors were heard that this skeleton looking pillow is cursed for a long time and anyone who holds it is going to get cursed until someone else holds it. It seems that Pig doesn't care about it. Either way, it's still a pillow.

I didn't give her cake since I can't think of any cakes that she likes (Since most of it is sweet ae)

like w pete it's pretty much just played for comedy but the way he proposes mutiny in episode 1 and immediately places himself as the new captain. like yeah nobody rlly likes stede at that point but everyone else seems fine to just ride it out for now, meanwhile pete sees stede's weakness as a chance to grab power. sure some of the guys are like "yeah sure i'm in" but they don't seem all that invested (except for maybe lucius but i got other thots on that)

and then in episode 9 we know that off-screen pete is trying to get izzy to appoint him first mate. which is WILD to me bc 1. izzy already has two good candidates for first mate who are both better pirates and have worked with izzy for longer, and 2. the only times pete and izzy have interacted are when they're getting their hostages back and also that time izzy slaps pete's head for eating while they're supposed to technically be prisoners. like there's no reason for pete to think he deserves to be first mate or think that izzy would even want him as first mate but he still is applying for the fucking job. kinda like how in real life white men are statistically shown to be more likely to apply for jobs they're underqualified for than women or poc i've connected the dots or whatever

izzy on the other hand is not played for comedy and generally is a little more complicated but i've been seeing takes on here abt how izzy puts in so much work as a leader and is the real man behind blackbeard's success and ohh he's the only competent pirate but NO. no offense but y'all are dumb as fuck if you think that's the case!!! izzy is an abusive leader who is more concerned with having power over subordinates than actually managing a crew. he tells fang and ivan that ed is "half insane" and grabs fang's beard for like, literally no reason. he yells abt how "i'm going to save us from the spanish and then i'm resigning you asshole" but do we ever see him come up with any sort of plan??? he's the captain of a ship for like ONE day and immediately everyone is like "so yeah we're gonna mutiny right?" like this guy sucks!!!!! but his little smile when ed implies that izzy will be in charge after he retires is like... so gleeful. the man likes being in charge but he's not actually good at it. and as far as we've seen, he has no intention of listening to people or doing better (at least not until they're abt to literally throw him overboard).

and then we have stede, whose characterization as a leader is more nuanced than the other two. i know this show's connection to real-world history is tenuous at best but one piece of info that i got off the Real Stede Bonnet's wikipedia page and actually incorporated into my reading of the show is that the crew he hired disliked him because he didn't know shit abt being a pirate captain, or even just abt being a fucking sailor. episode 1's half-planned mutiny is shown to be a matter of stede being weak and not actually doing real pirate raids and shit, but i think if u look deeper there's a lot more going on than just "stede is weak, we want to work for a real pirate"

stede commissioned his fucking ship to be built. i literally can't get over this detail (both in terms of the show and in terms of irl history) bc like that fact alone puts all of stede's character into perspective. pirates don't build their own ships. pirates don't get to design their captains quarters to have a fireplace and a library or build cute little secret passages into the walls "just for fun!" or pick out what figure they want for their masthead. they steal their ships. because they make living from stealing. and then he just, hires a crew and puts himself in charge because it's his ship and he paid for it and he's paying the crew—he's in charge because he owns everything, not because he's actually earned the right to be a pirate captain. like. no fucking wonder the crew doesn't like him!!!! i wouldn't like him!!!!!! olu tries to tell him that this lifestyle isn't just cool fun adventure and stede just brushes him off, and that interaction drives me insane. like it's literally poverty tourism! it's trauma tourism! i've been saying this for weeks but god i really hope stede gets called the fuck out in season 2 bc so much of his character so far is just rich white male privilege that has gone unchallenged his whole life. he's challenged in other ways, abt his sexuality and his lack of masculinity and whatnot, but going forward i rlly hope he opens himself up to more personal criticism abt the parts of his personality that actually deserve criticism.

anyway uh the point. what's the point. idk i guess the point is im just in awe of how the writers are so good at building different characters who are all their own unique people but are still shaped by their status in society, even when those statuses overlap. "white man who incorrectly thinks he deserves power" seems like a very one-note characterization but it's not and can apply to at least three very distinct characters in this show! (maybe 4 if u count like. the king. but there's not much to say abt ppl who expect unearned power when they're literal monarchs lmao). there's so many ways that individual personality clashes with social identity in this show and god it's all written so so well

got another half-baked ofmd thought for the day. this time im out here making connections btwn the characters in this show who most openly show a desire for positions of leadership/power, and yet who definitely don't deserve to be leaders, and how they're all white men
