So I may or may not have started watching another silly little show from the 90s. It kinda hit the sweet spot for me, with it having a fun gimmick while also being a detective show with compelling characters. I also feel like that clown meme looking at the mountain of episodes I still have to get through.

I love phantump conan au bc it's adorable but also bc of all the implications for canon cases where Shinichi is involved. Instead of "Kudo Shinichi's not here bc we couldn't get in touch with him" it's "Kudo Shinichi's not here bc he's dead." KID can't disguise as him without getting immediately caught, nobody's gonna invite someone whose dead to a party rhey cant come, the Shiragami case is completely messed up plotwise bc spoiler reasons and also Ran's gonna punch the culprit in the face, there are so many changes that result when you shift one (1) detail and that's what makes aus in general so fun - whatc changes? What stays the same? I'm getting off topic.

Also the implications of Haibara's situation is interesting to me bc I doubt the BO is gonna look at a pokemon for their missing human researcher - especially considering that espurr is not a ghost type. Even if they do the idea of the FBI having to offer witness protection to a pokemon amuses me.

Yes thank you that kind of butterfly effect is why I enjoy AUs so much!!! I love exploring the implications ^_^ in this au, heiji’s antics in particular become extremely strange

But the org definitely do know about the possibility of a person becoming a pokemon!! It was part of Haibara and her parents research….its got to do with vermouth’s whole situation…but even if they know that it still makes finding Haibara ridiculously hard

KUROBA KAITO HC: GENTLEMAN

Contrary to what his peers are led to believe, Kaito is much of a gentleman as his dad was. While he usually shows it when he's KID, its actually a big part of who he is but something he rarely ever shows in his civvies because it doesn't fit into the skirt flipping prankster mask he's carved for himself after his dad died

People rarely could ever handle his grief and anger, always saying things like how he's not acting like himself. When he got tired of such comments even from those he cares about, he amplified the prankster to hide away parts of himself that he rather not share anymore

Save for a selected few

His mom is obviously one of them. Jii-chan, another. But the one who especially finds himself stumbling and blushing will always be Shinichi

It doesn't matter if its a sunflower tucked tenderly behind his ear or a proffered arm, it never fails to leave Shinichi flushing in soft adoration. Even before they got together, Shinichi actively encourages Kaito to let himself act the way he wants instead of what people expects from his civilian class clown self

When Kaito understands that there is someone who wants his true self (the trickster, the gentleman, the unhinged genius, the avenger - the boy who loves wholly and chaotically), Kaito allows himself to just be himself

So even though they weren't dating at the time, it's not an unusual sight to find Kaito be an utter gentleman with a dark, mischievous charisma like from the Victorian era of old around a flustered Shinichi

from offering sunflowers, greeting the detective with a gentle reverent kiss to the knuckles to always offering his arm as they walk. It never fails to surprise people though in seeing Shinichi melts the way he does whenever Kaito does those things

Its especially telling because Shinichi allows himself to be charmed, letting the sunflower tucked somewhere on his person. whether its behind his ear or even weaved into his hair. or how he never pulls his hand away whenever Kaito kisses the knuckles

most of all, how Shinichi tucks himself close whenever Kaito offers his arm. how Shinichi always has a soft blush and looks adoringly up at Kaito as they walk

thats when people know that Shinichi is pretty much gone for the darkly charismatic gentleman

Okay last one before I go to bed: Eventually, all the people who know Shinichi are able to recognize when Kaito is disguising as him as Kaito would rather be found out then be caught dead in what Shinichi thinks looks fashionable.

Kaito thinks Shinichi is adorable, even when he's wearing his terribly put together outfits, but he has too much pride to actually put himself in them, thank you very much.

Married is not the same as just lovers!

I wanted some interaction between Chikage and Shinichi with a touch of humiliation from Toichi and Kaito, it will be long so I'll make a cut

"The day you sleep peacefully and wake up at 2 in the morning and go downstairs and find your magician husband making a house of cards on the kitchen table while the poor guy tries to open a package of gummy bears, you will know how is to be happily married."

chikage said to shinichi as he cut the potatoes for dinner. shinichi was, to say the least, confused. There were only 3 months left until his wedding with Kuroba Kaito and he was helping his mother-in-law prepare dinner for his future husband and father-in-law when the topic of conversation suddenly changed to… this strange comment.

"What? How am I supposed to interpret that?"

Shinichi was trying to figure out, why did this family always speak in code? Not even his parents were that annoying.

"Well honey, I'm referring to your relationship and the changes it will experience, being married is very different from being lovers, when you marry Kaito you will discover things about him that no one else would understand!"

While Chikage put the pan on the fire and moved the meat from the bowl, Shinichi remained thoughtful. He already knew Kaito very well, what else should he know?

"but kaito and I already know each other very well, I don't think it will be a big change"

Chikage chuckled as she looked for something in the refrigerator and with all the cerenity in the world she began to explain.

"I thought the same thing when I married Toichi, but reality slapped me in the face when we started living together as a married couple, I never imagined that my beloved had such… 'peculiar' tastes and habits, you know"

she cleared his throat

"I still remember when I discovered that Toichi spoke in his sleep, it was very strange and funny! I discovered that if I whispered a little I could manipulate his dreams, when I discovered that Mr. gentleman was capable of insulting at such speed when he thought he was alone, when I discovered that he had insomnia and did strange things when he was sleep-deprived, or when I discovered that he loved talking to Kaito when he was barely born! Oh~ it was hilarious to see him interpret our baby's noises and gestures to continue the conversation!"

Shinichi was perplexed, he had no idea that his father-in-law could be so… similar to Kaito in the sense of being adorably weird. It was when a question crossed his mind, what would his kaito be like when they got married?

"So, was it a very drastic change?"

Shinichi began to prepare the salad without taking his eyes off his mother-in-law.

"Oh yes it was! It was a huge twist. going from 'Prince Charming' to 'I don't know how I got here if I don't even know how to boil water' and it was very fun, somewhat difficult but that's what life is about! change others and let others change you"

Shinichi looked lovingly at his mother-in-law, she was right, he and Kaito were young and still changing. It would undoubtedly be fun to evolve with his beloved, but he returned from his thoughts to be able to finish dinner. After many jokes and exchanging secrets from their lovers, dinner was served on time when the front door opened.

"kaa-san, shin-chan, we're home!"

Kaito entered and behind him came his father. Shinichi ran into Kaito's arms and kissed his cheek welcoming him, Kaito blushed and smiled while his parents murmured and laughed behind them. Already seated at the table, the magicians praised their loved ones.

"It's delicious, honey! Your seasoning is always so smooth and unique!" Toichi said while licking his fingers, completely leaving aside the cutlery.

"and the meat is juicy and tender, I'm impressed by how well you cook now shin-chan!" Kaito took another big bite, staining his white shirt.

both cooks looked at each other and laughed

"oh kai-chan, look what a mess you've made! my little messy baby!" Chikage said with a sweet tone and pinched Kaito's cheek.

"um, oji-san, there," shinichi said, holding back a laugh as he brought the fork to toichi.

both wizards looked at their hands/shirt, became silent and turned as red as a tomato.

"oi, chika-chan!" "oi, shin-chan!"

as (m/n) repeatedly looked at his watch, he feels something knocked his head, it was a scrambled paper.

after they arrived to the library, shinichi tried to get his mind off from (m/n), as he going to the mystery selection, pulling out some books he already read (cuz he already read it on his dad massive library/work room) but still paying attention at the two.

(m/n) and tomo tried to get out from his vision by slowly walking to the corner of the library, where its a really a quiet place and student rarely comes there.

right after the two convinced that shinichi wasnt looking anymore, tomo begin to softly pushes (m/n) and trapped the shorter male between him, grabbing his chin with smile as he slowly kiss the (h/c).

(m/n) can feel the longing and genuine gesture from his kiss, as well as some playful bite on his lips, giggling while they were making out.

"can i...?" said tomo, asking for permission to do more.

(m/n) just giggled at his plea, looking so cute while nodding. having his friend consent, tomo begin to kiss him again, now with his tongue slipped inside the (e/c) boy, carresing his friend jaw while the two focused on making out.

(m/n) can only crumble to what the detective did to his neck, whining and moaning everytime the detective playfully bite his neck and suck it.

shinichi grins as he starts to look at the hickeys, admiring his own art.
