To say it escalated quickly would be the understatement of all time for Lief.

He hadn't expected Sirius to become so upset so quickly. Not the angry kind of upset either, but the sad kind of upset. The kind of upset that near always gave him mixed feelings as is.

He certainly didn't expect for the humanoid before him to have actually been THAT particular Meowstic; one of the last people he wanted to encounter here, among a couple others.

And more than that? He certainly, seriously didn't expect that the same individual who got angry with him before, enough to shoo him away because he poked at his line of work, to now be standing before him, shaken, little tears in the corner of his eyes.

What is it with Pokemon and making him feel guilty?

He was starting to become sick of it.

He again grumbled low, his eyes narrowing as he glanced away from them both.

Lief: "Tch. 'Inferiority Complex'... I'm not the one making a scene right now."

His tail flicked behind him as he turned around. His muttering got a little louder, sounded even more spiteful, as if some part of him wanted them to hear it.

Lief: "Like gee, I don't know. Maybe I really would have kept my mouth shut if what's-his-face over there didn't pretend he couldn't recognize me. I wasn't gonna poke at a Pokemon I clearly didn't wanna talk to, anyway."

Then he whirled back around as it hit him. His initial agitated look became mixed with shock as he looked at Sirius directly.

Lief: "Also. You're royalty? You? Are you kidding me? And what, are you someone else I gotta apologize to, too? Play nice and twiddle my paws and say 'Oh I didn't really mean that'?"

His expression softened somewhat. The guilt was creeping up again, and it nearly showed on his face. His voice, having raised an octave, lowered again. He even looked away, unable to look Sirius in the eyes anymore.

Lief: "Because... I did mean that."

'But not to you.' He couldn't bring himself to say this.

He sighed. For those moments, before he turned away, he looked deeply exasperated.

Lief: "You know what, just... forget what I said. All of it."

He didn't wait for either of them to respond before walking off. And even if they did? He didn't intend to stay.

Lief: "Get it out of your system or whatever. I don't get it... and I don't know if I want to get it."

Sirius looked extremely taken aback by Lief's comment, is that what people really thought of him? Did he really come off as 'stuffy'? To say he was hurt would be an understatement. It wasn't just the comment but also the harsh tone that accompanied it, Something about that seemed to finally set him off.

"I just expressed that it wasn't my choice and that it makes me uncomfortable, yet you still found the need to comment on it. My question did not have ill intent, there absolutely was no need for that." Though his tone stayed calm he seemed very upset, this distress seemed to be much deeper than one stray comment. Perhaps that was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Sirius couldn't bring himself to hold this dumb human appearance any longer, his emotions were far too messy to keep up the facade.

"It's not exactly something I can choose, you know that right? I don't like it either and wasn't trying to be 'stuffy'. I was trying to be nice." He huffed, he couldn't stop the tears from welling up. Sirius was quick to throw the crown to the ground, possibly to prove a point but more so out of frustration. He didn't like things being assumed of him just because of how he looked in the moment, it was unfair and judgemental.

"I'm not stuffy... I'm not a stuffy royal either... You didn't need to say that..." The sudden commotion seemed to catch the attention of a certain Jirachi. As soon as they looked over their gaze darted to their younger sibling before it quickly locked onto Lief, they didn't look very pleased. Without much effort, they shifted into their Pokemon form.

"I don't know who you are but just leave my little brother alone alright." They snapped, they obviously didn't appreciate the upset expression of Sirius. "Why are you poking at him?"

"Learn to keep them to yourself, if you don't have anything nice to say then just don't open your mouth okay?"
