Top 2018 PS4 Games For Girls
I did a lot of research for this list. So the 40 2018 PS4 Games below are not ranked in any particular order.
If I had to pick a few favorites it’d be Detroit Become Human, Kingdom Hearts 3, Shenmue 3, Stein’s Gate Elite, Atelier Lydie & Suelle, Yakuza 6, Your Four Knights Princess Training Story, Shining Resonance Refrain, A Way Out, FF7, and Ni No Kuni 2.
This is not a full release list for the PS4 in 2018, but instead a collection of games I thought would appeal to other gamers such as myself based either on story, anime graphics, cuteness, or gameplay mechanics.
Leave me a comment below and let me know what games you’re looking forward to on PS4 this year!
40+ PS4 Games for Girls Releasing in 2018
1.) Moss
youtube
A virtual reality game that features a mouse who knows sign language. The environment is beautiful and the characters are adorable.
2.) Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom
youtube
Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch is one of my favorite PS3 games. So it’s no surprise that I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel from Studio Ghibli and Level 5 on the PS4 in 2018.
3.) Red Dead Redemption 2
youtube
It’s not often that I enjoy a shooting game; however, I am quite fond of the original back on the 360. I enjoy the open world environment, myriad of quests, and choice and consequence system. The horseback riding was also fun.
4.) Detroit: Become Human
youtube
I think above any other title on my list, I’m most excited about this PS4 Exclusive from the makers of Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls. It’s a story driven game where the player must make choices at various points which will fork the story down different branches resulting in different endings.
5.) Shenmue 3
youtube
Shenmue 3 broke records when it debuted on kickstarter 2 years ago. Finally the wait is over as the title will launch in mid 2018. In case you missed the first two games, rumors abound about an HD remaster that will include both Shenmue 1 and 2 also arriving on PS4 in 2018.
6.) Knights and Bikes
youtube
This quirky cute co-op game aims to recapture the feelings of childhood innocence and fun. You can explore a colorful island, fight baddies with water balloons or race your friends on your bicycles.
7.) Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
youtube
This is basically a Castlevania game, except since Kojima left Konami, he’s not allowed to use the name Castlevania anymore. I’m also digging the anime style characters as opposed to the more photo realistic characters the series has been using recently.
8.) Final Fantasy 7 Remake
youtube
The wait is almost over for the Final Fantasy Remake with new stories, new visuals, and new combat systems. This is more than just an “HD Port” this is a reworking of the game from scratch, using the same characters, world, and story, but improving upon it in many ways.
9.) The Last Of Us Part 2
youtube
This story driven post-apocalyptic action game is finally getting a sequel.
10.) Death Stranding
youtube
Kojima’s answer to Konami cancelling his Silent Hills game. It looks creepy AF. So if horror is your thing, check this one out. I’ll be picking it up but I know I won’t be able to play it alone in the dark.
11.) Beyond Good and Evil 2
youtube
Fans have been begging for this sequel for years, and now finally, the wait is almost over. This quirky series is best known for its anthropomorphic animals and charming worlds.
12.) Kingdom Hearts 3
youtube
I am currently preparing for Kingdom Hearts 3 by playing the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 HD Remix which combines like 8 of the Kingdom Hearts games. I was a big fan of Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 when it first came out on PS2, and am excited to revisit the worlds of Kingdom Hearts again in KH3.
13.) Monster Hunter World
youtube
Open world RPG adventure game with huge monsters and a variety of weapons and equipment.
14.) Concrete Genie
youtube
Your graffiti creations come to life in this PS4 exclusive.
15.) Anamorphine
youtube
Another PS4 VR game. This virtual reality game puts you in the role of a young man trying to recover his memories and make sense of the world around him. The story is about his relationship and his wife’s depression.
16.) Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory
youtube
This prequel will reveal the events leading up to Digimon Cyber Sleuth as you play as Keisuke, a young man accused of a crime he didn’t commit. He must join a team of hackers to uncover the truth. Over 320 Digimon to discover.
17.) Iconoclasts
youtube
This game is full of intricate puzzles and a deeply moving story about faith, purpose, and the challenge of helping people.
18.) Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT
youtube
The characters from various final fantasy games return for this fun crossover fighting game.
19.) Past Cure
youtube
This story driven stealth game will let players use a variety of skills that blend dreams and reality as they try to help the main character master his new found powers while escaping from frightening horrors.
20.) Shadow of the Colossus
youtube
A story of a boy trying to find his lost love. Armed with only a bow and arrow you must battle fearsome giants.
21.) The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia
youtube
Based on the hit Netflix anime, this beautiful looking brawler features all of your favorite characters in a brand new storyline.
22.) Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[ST]
youtube
This new fighting game from the creators of Melty Blood and Tsukihime features not only great anime artwork, but an excellent story in campaign mode as well. The game blends story and fighting sequences in a similar fashion as Blazblue
23.) Crossing Souls
youtube
This colorful adventure game takes place in the 1980s in California. It features puzzle solving and fighting.
24.) Kingdom Come Deliverance
youtube
Kingdom Come Deliverance is an open world first person action RPG with non-linear story and stunning graphics.
25.) Secret of Mana
youtube
This gorgeous remake of the SNES classic will launch in February 2018.
26.) Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet
youtube
Based on the popular Sword Art Online Anime. This new title features gun-based combat and 4 player co-op or vs modes.
27.) Frantics
youtube
Cute animal characters star in this 4 player party game where you must bluff, battle, or negotiate your way to victory.
28.) Yakuza 6: The Song of Life
youtube
Yakuza is a spin off of the Shenmue Series. It features a deep lengthy storyline, intriguing characters, and of course crazy, fun, zany minigames, all in an open world. New to Yakuza 6 is the cat cafe and spear fishing just to name a few.
29.) A Way Out
youtube
A narrative game that can only be played with 2 players. Don’t worry if you don’t have any friends, you can play online as well as local co-op. The story revolves around 2 men trying to break out of prison. To do so you must make decisions in the story that will help build trust and friendship between the two inmates.
30.) Dollhouse
youtube
An interesting game that lets you create your own maps and stories. It seems to be about artificial intelligence. The multiplayer mode says you are fighting for control to be the “dominant mind”.
31.) The Lost Child
youtube
The Lost Child is an anime RPG in which you are able to collect over 50 different gods from various mythologies and train over 250 different skills. It includes both English and Japanese voice overs.
32.) The Witch and The Hundred Knight 2
youtube
This cute anime RPG lets you craft new weapons and items as well as recruit minions to fight for you.
33.) Gintama Rumble
youtube
This fighting game is based on the hit anime and manga. It will launch in January 2018.
34.) Fist of the North Star
youtube
From the developer of Yakuza, this action brawler is based on the hit retro anime and manga by the same name.
35.) Stein’s Gate Elite
youtube
This is a remastered version of the original Stein’s Gate game using animation taken directly from the anime based on the first game plus new animation created for this game. The goal was to create a fully animated visual novel (as opposed to still images). The developers are said to have been inspired from Yarudora, a series of fully animated visual novels from the 90s. I would also compare it to School Days HQ which is also fully animated. (and that animation style is why it ranks among our top 10 games for girls). I reviewed the original Stein’s Gate here. I highly recommend it. And since the first and second Stein’s Gate games have both been released in North America, I’d say there’s a good chance we will see an English release for Stein’s Gate Elite as well.
36.) Your Four Knights Princess Training Story
youtube
A “Raising Sim” similar to games such as Princess Maker and Graduation 95. Gematsu has an excellent article detailing how you will train your princess. Basically it involves scolding or praising your princess at various times, for example during conversations or while exploring dungeons. The story and characters change based on your decisions and how you raise your princess. The princesses each have various parameters that you can train to unlock new skills or increase their stats to help them in battle.
37.) Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists & the Mysterious Paintings
youtube
Atelier games focus on gathering ingredients and crafting new items. As you can see from the trailer, they feature beautiful anime graphics, and deep stories. Their gameplay is often long, and at times it can get tedious, however, for those who love crafting and exploring, Atelier offers the ultimate crafting system.
38.) Super Robot Wars X
youtube
Gematsu indicates that there will be a southeast asian version of this game with English subtitles. For fans wanting to play these games in English you should be able to import the game from Play Asia. It appears to be a compilation of many different retro Super Robot War titles, better known as Gundamn in North America.
39.) OK K.O. Let’s Play Heroes
youtube
This colorful brawler game from Cartoon Network arrives in early 2018.
40.) Shining Resonance Refrain
youtube
This is a remaster of the PS3 Shining Resonance Game, part of Sega’s Shining Force/Shining Wisdom game series. The PS3 version was never released in North America. Perhaps the new PS4 remake will find its way overseas. In addition to new graphics, this version includes new story scenarios and gameplay modes.

update: lmao I am so fucking doped up right now. sorry to the world that I got behind on shimamatsu translations, but have you ever tried to translate while on muscle relaxants? it’s a bad scene. god, I’m in a lot of pain rn.
gonna talk about some of the movies from the film festival below the cut. doped up af but I’ve seen like 14 movies so far, hella. tomorrow I probably have to skip bc I just took two cyclos and that is gonna fuck me the hell up.
movies I’d recommend:
thelma a norwegian film which is basically a coming-of-age story for a fundie christian girl who goes to college and realizes she’s a lesbian. oh, and that she has insane supernatural powers. (it’s kind of carrie-ish but with canon f/f, but imo a lot better than carrie.) the love story is really interesting, if incredibly dark. like if you’re in the mood for dark, kind of mindfuck-y f/f, this is your film. despite the very long upcoming list of potential triggers, it’s not as scary or brutal as it sounds. lmao. highly recommended, probably the film I’ve enjoyed most so far. (tw: violence, nudity, drug use, death, [spoilers] child abuse, possible mind control, child death)
custody a french film based on a short film that I saw a few years ago, and it’s fantastic and gut-wrenching. the short film was about a woman running away from her abusive husband with her children; this feature-length film is about what happens when a stupid judge ignores what both the wife and children have to say and gives him joint custody. (spoilers: it doesn’t end well.) interestingly, it has all the same cast as the original short film, though the kids are markedly older. idk if it’s meant to be a straight sequel or if one just inspired the other. really well done, tho, I was fuckin white-knuckling it in the theater. people were like. yelling. the climax of that film is INTENSE. probably the best quality film we’ve seen so far, though I think the plot could’ve been tightened up a little. (tw: very explicit depictions of physical and emotional abuse, very terrifying moments. [spoilers] but no child death.)
I, Tonya tonya harding biopic. I’m not really a big one for biopics, but this was a good one. it tried to explain how harding’s life led her to where she got, but didn’t necessarily paint her as some innocent victim. it was sympathetic where it needed to be, empathetic where it needed to be, but rarely let her get away with bullshit. lot of good performances here, but Margot Robbie (even though she looked way too old for the part) did a great job. (tw: explicit child/spousal abuse)
the villainess Korean lady-gets-revenge-on-shitty-men bloody action flick. not really my genre, admittedly, but I feel like anyone who likes this kind of movie would really enjoy this one. very Kill Bill-esque. it’s the story of this girl who basically gets passed around between illicit assassination organizations, in-fighting, revenge on all those who wronged her, etc. it is Very Bloody and many people die. the action scenes are HQ if you are into that kind of thing. I was mostly invested in the huge amounts of f/f potential. like at one point she joins an assassin organization where all the operatives are female and that whole part of the movie!! was very gay!! the actual canon relationships are het, but there is a strong potential for dark f/f murderwives here. (tw: haha oh boy if it’s a problem it’s probably here. implied CSA, child abuse, creepy relationships, violence, gore, nudity, child death, everyone else death, non-con facial surgery...like it’s bloody af okay...)
love means zero this is a documentary about nick bollettieri, who’s this super famous tennis coach. (apparently.) I knew next to nothing about the world of professional tennis going into this documentary, but I still enjoyed it bc wtf this guy is a piece of work. it’s basically all about how he fucked over a ton of people (especially kids) when he was trying to make tennis champions. and how he succeeded! by fucking over a ton of people! the interviews with him are honestly kind of wild bc he’s just such a crazy narcissist. this was especially weird for me to watch bc I grew up in the sarasota/bradenton area and never even knew all this shit was going on there. it was weird seeing my hometown on the screen like that, but also interesting. (tw: child abuse, just generally being a fuckboi)
MOVIES THAT WERE OKAY but like I had Issues
brimstone and glory I feel like I really recommend going out to see this one if you can see it on the big screen. it’s a documentary about a fireworks festival in Mexico and honestly the cinematography is stunning. it’s just so, so, so cool. but the actual documentary part is kind of boring sometimes, and you gotta have a strong stomach bc it also shows some of the injuries people get at this insane festival. like I don’t think showing that is a bad thing; I think it’s the only responsible way to make a documentary about this festival. like it’s amazing, it’s so cool, but also these people are like. going blind, losing hands, dying. and taking their kids!! like if you cannot handle watching kids in dangerous situations, don’t go!! dad was freaking out, lmao. (tw: graphic depiction of real-life injuries)
radiance a Japanese film about a woman who writes audio description for blind movie-goers. the same director made An (Sweet Bean Paste) a couple years ago, which was notable for its depiction of what Japan does to its citizens who have Hansen’s Disease. (leprosy.) it was weird to me when that movie came out that none of the reviewers really talked about that aspect of the movie; they were all like “UGH IT WAS SO POINTLESS AND CLOYING” and I’m like “did you miss the point of the movie?? which was critiquing the social ostracization of these people in Japanese society??? did that completely go over your heads????” anyway, I appreciated the depiction of PWD in Japan bc having lived there while disabled, I know that shit isn’t easy. that’s why I went to go see radiance. it was...okay? I think the most interesting part was when they let the blind characters talk. the movie was otherwise pretty pretentious and self-indulgent. lmao. like... it’s a rent, don’t buy situation.
marlina the murderer in four acts this movie was not bad! it’s an indonesian film about a woman whose home is invaded and she kills all the invaders. it’s definitely a film that critiques misogyny in indonesian culture, but I feel like it undercut its own message by showing such incredibly graphic rapes. like honestly, I don’t really ever recommend movies that have very graphic rape scenes, but I guess she does end up killing her rapists during the rape scenes. I just. I feel like it could have been done in a way that won’t get people all sexually excited while watching a violent rape. : / y’know? other than that, though, I really liked the female characters in the movie and sympathized with marlina’s journey trying to get society to help her and realizing she had to just go it alone with her female friends. bc like. she’s attacked by men, but she’s also revictimized by shitty ordinary men all the time she’s trying to get to town, report the attack, etc. and so are the other female cahracters. so they just. have to be vigilantes. (tw: GRAPHIC rape, violence, mild gore, spousal abuse)
newton Indian film about a guy going out to the jungle to get votes in the main election. but like. none of the people out there even know who the candidates are, there’s a lot of anti-government violene, the villagers are caught between anarchists and the police, it’s just a mess. and I do think the movie was good at showing the futility of it all and showing how the people who really end up getting fucked over are the poor people in rural areas, but at the same time like. pacing was uneven, tone was ???, and I found the protagonist irritating. and there was what appeared to be some pasted on het which made no sense. (like honestly I cannot figure out why she ever wanted to talk to his dumb ass again.)
blade of the immortal it’s takashi miike making blade of the immortal. I mean. I feel like if you are familiar with those names, you already know if you want to see it or not. if you aren’t, idk how much you’d like it anyway. after already having watched miike’s ace attorney adaptation, I sense a pattern. the guy just looks at a HUGE corpus (like a VG with 5 cases, or a manga with 40 volumes) and is like “welll....then I guess we better make things fast.” so you have Big Bads being introduced in the same breath that they get killed, 30-second backstories, just a frenetic pace and a huge amount of information, and it’s confusing and overwhelming if you don’t already know it. and honestly, I haven’t read BotI so I can’t say how faithful this was. but if you already love the characters and just want miike’s trademark bloody action flick style, then I mean. fair enough. this here’s a bloodbath. I had a hard time getting emotionally invested as a fresh viewer, tho. highlight of the evening: an old man walking out grumbling about how he only likes classy martial arts movies, and apparently this did not qualify. having seen a lot of classics of the martial arts genre, still unsure what a “classy” martial arts film looks like. (tw: offscreen rape, death, blood, gore, just an unreasonable amount of killing honestly like it was funny by the end, attempted CSA)
gemini this is a “neo-noir” thriller. so essentially a murder mystery. unfortunately, the title of the movie basically gives away the entire story lmao. so while the build-up wasn’t bad, the entire last 15-20 minutes of the movie are a total letdown. it was nice to see canon f/f, I guess, but I feel like the movie never went in hard enough on that. like were they trying to make a point about how hard it is for celebrities to have same-sex relationships? I’m not sure!! I can think of a lot of things that would make this plot more interesting, but they just didn’t do them. acting was fine, I guess. John Cho was in it, even if his character was pointless. Zoe Kravitz is always fun. (tw: I mean it’s a murder mystery. so...murder.)
DID NOT ENJOY
scaffolding (israeli film, boring af)
the workshop (french film, kind of boring, makes questionable points about neo-nazis)
#haha I'm dying squirtle#if anyone wants a full review on any of these I'd be happy to#these are just some hot takes#i tonya#thelma#custody#the villainess#love means zero#brimstone and glory#radiance#marlina the murderer in four acts#newton#blade of the immortal#gemini#scaffolding#the workshop

Re: The Blue One (1/3)
So recently Kylie started a blog on Wordpress and for her first three posts she wrote something about Amihan entitled “The Blue One.” Let me clear this up first and foremost that this post is NOT intended to bash Kylie whatsoever, this is just my response/reaction on Ky’s three-part post, and as an Amihan fan for almost twelve years, I think it’s about time for me to really talk about her and everything that involves Amihan, Encantadia, and of course Kylie. I feel like I haven’t really discussed or talked about Amihan stuff because I have 5 episodes to review every week, and I also have commitments and stuff to deal with in the outside world so most of my limited spare time usually goes to the 4R’s blog series. Some of the terms I used in this post might be hurtful or offensive to others but again, it is never my intention to bash Kylie, nevertheless I apologize in advance, these are just my HONEST thoughts about some issues that involves her, Amihan and the show. Also you guys can also consider this as my way of writing a “farewell love letter” to Kylie and just really have some closure (or whatevs) because I feel like I need this, I need to write this down. Avisala eshma!
How the 4R’s series began, From “Why Kylie?” To “Wow! Kylie!”
Once upon a time, my old Tumblr account that I have been managing for four years was hacked, so I had no choice but to make a new one, I wasn’t as active in my new tumblr like before because I was so bummed af that I suddenly just lost my interest with the site. I wanted to fill this page with random photos, and occasional thoughts coming from my mind, you know the usual things you encounter on every Tumblr page. That very same year, GMA Network announced that Encantadia is making a huge come back on Philippine TV, and as an Encantadik myself, I was beyond ecstatic, finally! After eleven years of waiting and binge watching some videos from the original series, it’s finally here, and it’s happening before my very eyes. Time skip, the cast was revealed, I got so excited when I found out that Glaiza is one of the sang’gres and I just know she’ll nail the character, I wasn’t familiar with Sanya and Gabbi during that time so I was like, “Oh well, we shall see.” And then Kylie, and I was like, “Um…Kylie?” I was one of the majority who prejudged Kylie before the show even started, seeing the show’s promotional photos, BTS, and so on, I kept on looking for Amihan in Kylie, and I when I say Amihan, I meant IZA CALZADO. But I saw none, I saw a warrior but not a queen, she wasn’t as queenly or regal-looking like Iza, and I was even skeptical if Kylie could portray a mother role, I saw her first photo with Mikee (Lira) and I couldn’t even imagine the two of them as mother and daughter. In short, “walang dating.” But then I said to myself, “I trust DMR, he wouldn’t choose Kylie for no reason, so sige, I’ll give her a chance.”
Fast forward, July 2016, the most awaited comeback of THE Encantadia. Of course, I didn’t miss the chance of watching the pilot episode on TV (because duh). As expected, the first episode did not disappoint, special effects were leveled up, highly commendable actors like John Arcilla, Dingdong Dantes, Sunshine Dizon and Marian Rivera among others, pretty impressive fight scenes—it was promising! Even the kids who portrayed the young sang’gres were adorbs and did a very good job especially Barbara Miguel (young Pirena), so naturally I had sky high expectations with Glaiza, Kylie, Gabbi and Sanya. ESPECIALLY KYLIE, because Amihan is my bias. Then came the most awaited #AvisalaMgaSanggre episode, the sang’gres’ first appearance as young adults. Of course, Glaiza was the stand-out performer, Sanya, despite being a newbie was pretty good, Gabbi was so-so, and Kylie was the least impressive. Throughout that episode I noticed how Kylie struggled especially at showing Amihan’s motherly personality. Her face was blank, the way she delivered those lines were so, so bland that I thought she was just rehearsing than doing an actual scene, I was disappointed see? But it was only their first appearance, I told myself, maybe her performance will be much better on the next episode. Wrong. Very Wrong. She kept on pulling the same boring facial expression and her scenes go from cringe-worthy af to oh-heck-no! That’s when I came up with the idea to write a comparison of the 2005 and 2016 version of Encantadia, generally that time I prefer the original saga since there was so much disappointments with the cast of the new version, and it seems like out of the four sang’gres, it was only Glaiza who knows how to act. Surprisingly I wasn’t the only one who had the same sentiments with the show, but then again, I would be unfair if I don’t give the show a chance, it was only their third or fourth week which means there is still room for improvement, and so I decided, why not write a daily review about Encantadia? Just a simple sharing to everyone what I think about the episode and if I like it or not, also that way, I wouldn’t have any excuse to miss an episode. Originally, I came up with the blog title 3Rs (Raves, Rants, Rating) but then I changed my mind at the very last minute and added another “R” which is Recap and that’s how the 4R’s series came to life. And as I am writing this, I just realized that it was Kylie’s then lame performance gave me the idea of this whole blog series thing, so thanks Kylie! Uh…I guess🤔. Weeks passed, still Kylie showed little to no improvement with her performance, sure her martial arts skills was on point on every fight scene, that signature bend-and-slay was lit, clearly she was the queen of fight scenes. I gotta say she was pretty good at playing a mother to Kate’s Mira, it wasn’t like Iza-level but I was happy nevertheless, at least she can play a mother role. Besides that, there was something lacking, Amihan isn’t just a warrior and a mother, heck she is also a queen. Everytime Kylie appears on TV in that royal blue gown, I see a beautiful woman, but not a queen, I guess I got used to Ms Iza who was so effortless at playing a queen, she was naturally graceful, her beauty was regal, her entire aura in general was majestic that even if she does nothing or even say anything, anyone who sees her will definitely say, “Yup, she’s the queen of Lireo alright.” Kylie wasn’t like that, and I wanted to see that.
But Iza and Kylie are two very different actresses…
I was fully aware of that, and people kept on saying stop comparing Iza and Kylie. Nonesense! I thought, even if they termed Encantadia 2016 a “requel,” meaning re-telling and sequel, at the end of the day one can never deny the fact that it still came from the original version, the plot, the characters, almost everything is based on the original series. And DMR promised that this new version is MUCH better than the original, ha! Really? Seriously? Are you kidding me? Every Enca 2005 fan knows how well the cast performed, of course we are expecting a lot, of course we will compare them to the original actor/actress, afterall, they are the “revised” version of the original, saan banda ang “mas better?” There were only a handful of actors whom I can say that is the same level or better version of the character, the rest was a major disappointment. What frustrated me the most is the injustice Kylie was giving to my favorite Sang’gre Amihan, why Kylie? Why is she murdering the character that was adored by many? I ranted so much about Kylie to the point that I almost gave up on her, but for some reason, I just couldn’t let go, there was something in Kylie that tells me to hold on, and my inner Amihan fangirl told me she can do this. New day, new episode, new chance, new set of raves and rants, repeat. It went on for quite awhile, but I held on, I waited for Amihan, for the love of Amihan.
And the magic appeared before my very eyes…
The fall of Amihan is the most epic arc in the first season, up until now, it is still the most memorable for me. I was really nervous as the episode of Amihan’s fall was getting near, I was crossing my fingers, silently praying for Kylie to finally claim the spotlight, I remember I kept on saying, “Please Kylie, please I’m begging you, nail this scene,” I was anxious as I was waiting for that episode to air. Finally it came, that scene where Pirena revealed that the daughter Amihan raised for many years wasn’t hers and Pirena has been planning to overthrow her all this time, I can never forget that face—shock, pain, anger all mixed together, and when Kylie finally said those heavy lines, that’s when she finally got me. Just remembering that scene gives me goosebumps, Kylie and Amihan became one, and for the first time, I gave an episode an 11 out of 10 rating and this is the episode. I was finally convinced that Kylie deserved the role and she is the rightful actress to succeed Iza Calzado. Kylie Padilla IS Hara Amihan, and from then on, Kylie kept on slaying--episode after episode, she claimed the spotlight and held on to it, I ate every rant I said about her, every foul-mouthed basher instantly fell silent, some even turned into fans. I was relieved of course, the justice I have been seeking for Amihan’s character has finally been served. It took awhile but it was worth the wait. So worth it.
Never did I imagine I would love a character this much…
Iza Calzado is the perfect Amihan, but Kylie Padilla is the best Amihan. Obviously I love both versions, but what was Kylie’s edge against Iza’s version? Kylie did not just embody Amihan as a warrior, mother and queen, she embodied Amihan as a woman. That was something I realized was lacking in the original version, Kylie made me see that even a queen also make mistakes, she is not perfect, she has her flaws, just like each and everyone of us. A strong warrior also has weakness, she stumbles, she falls, her strength and courage can also turn into fear and doubt. A mother is always a mother, even if she did not carry the child and brought her into the world, some say that motherhood starts at the time of the child’s conception, but in Amihan’s case, it’s when she chose to love that child unconditionally, even though at the back of her mind, she sensed something different. Amihan is a woman who has her own ups and downs but chose not to be taken down by anything or anyone, her wisdom and pure heart is what makes her character truly admirable. I have many reasons why I admire Amihan a lot, but this is how I would sum up those reasons.
Kylie’s impact was more than what I expected…
Kylie did not just made me love Amihan more than ever, it was her who really brought me back to the world of Encantadia. She reminded me of that girl who used to play sang’gre with her friends at school, she reminded me that you are neither too young nor too old to believe in magic. She did not just turn Amihan into a well-loved character but also a woman every girl will look up to. To me, Amihan is no longer just my favorite character from a show, in this stage in life where I strive to be a better person, she’s my inspiration.
To be continued…
