Seven Shades of Shit with Caitlyn Lynch: Chapter 13
We are almost finished with the book! Woohoo! Here’s the master post, and here is @caitlynlynch ‘s review!
Macy returns home after visiting Heather, and she’s pretty horrified by what the Morgans did to that poor girl.
Exactly. It was wrong, abusive, and so many other things. They approached her, they seduced her, they fed her all these ideas of carrying their baby, and then they dropped her when they found out she couldn’t have kids. This girl was eighteen, and that’s a horrible thing to put someone so young through. Her brain hasn’t even finished developing yet, and they took advantage of her. She was their employee, and if she decided to sue them, she could easily take all of their money and leave them broke and penniless and blacklisted from every having jobs again. Not sure if they would go to jail, but I’d settle for them suffering.
So the boys come home and notice something is off about Macy, and this happens:
Smith is going to be an abusive partner. You can see that coming a mile away.
Macy tells the boys that she went to see Heather.
You exhale carbon dioxide, you fucking idiot.
Caitlyn already covered the false information about the fertility treatments.
How much you want to bet the Morgans don’t care about Heather’s state?
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, TRENT?! YOU SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN THE ONE TO EXPLAIN IT TO HER! IT IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST, AND YOU SHOULD BE STRIPPED OF YOUR MEDICAL LICENSE, FIRED FOR COERCION AND VIOLATION OF HIPAA!
Rage over, it should have been a fertility doctor that explained all that to Heather. Trent just violated a shitload of privacy laws, and he probably should have gone to jail for that. Heather was brainwashed by the brothers and considered her worth to be tied to whether or not she could give them a kid. This is so fucking awful. It gets worse too.
FUCK YOU, CASSANDRA DEE! Now, calling women out of their name is a problem for Macy? How dare you even utter the word feminism after all the shit in the book that these men did? It’s one thing to intentionally make it abusive and non-con/dubcon (surprisingly, it’s more self-aware), but it’s a whole another thing when it was unintentional and the characters just think it’s normal. I can’t believe I have to say this, but it makes a big difference!
I know Macy is not suddenly taking the high road after knowing all this to begin with. They never gave her any reason to believe that they were anything but monsters.
I just sighed and rolled my eyes. The Morgans are just as stupid as Macy is, and I know Macy’s not going to have this feminist view for long.
NO, YOU FUCKING DON’T! If you really cared about her and wanted a baby with her, you could have hired a surrogate. But you didn’t want that, you wanted your own little pregnant fuck toy, and Heather couldn’t fulfill that role. Infertility does not have to destroy a relationship if each party agrees that there are alternatives they can pursue. Or the couple could just adopt or decide not to have kids. If you only wanted her for sex and a child, you should have told her up front that if she couldn’t have kids, then you couldn’t be together. I shouldn’t even have to use the word “informed consent”, but these idiots don’t even know how to go about having a baby through honesty and communication.
Would it have killed the Morgans or Cassandra Dee to even study polyamory? There are rules and boundaries for polyamorous couple, and the Morgans didn’t even try to understand how that would affect Heather. If they knew the feelings were going to be magnified, they should have addressed the possibility that it wouldn’t work out. They should have gone to counseling and talked this all out not just abandon her when things weren’t work. From what I’ve seen in polyamorous relationships done right, if break-ups ever happen, all parties involved aren’t always traumatized like Heather is. They don’t let things fester, and they always emphasize honesty, communication, and boundaries. The Morgans didn’t give a shit about Heather, they used, abused, and discarded her.
I can’t tell if this is gaslighting or just emotional manipulation. Probably the latter since they aren’t trying to make her think she’s crazy.
You’re their slave, Macy. Say it, say it out loud.
This chapter is a short one, so I’m done.
