because i hardly write angst, let's talk about life post snap/eg events. emma did not vanish, and she offered her help to fight th/anos. her diamond form makes her immortal. now, she doesn't have many deep connections, so losing half of the galaxies population was easier on her mind. telepaths hear too much static psyche bs as it is. not to mention it most likely wiped out a good number of those who probably disliked her anyways. the hardest part of it all was losing her husband afterwards, whilst trying her best to care for her daughters. losing a psyche bond is an instant feeling of heart crushing loss. it's an out of body experience that quite literally rips her soul out for a time being and changes who she is until she forces herself back to reality. no one knew what really happened during the snap, like people just vanished. & although they fixed it all, she's always been incredibly proud of the things he's accomplished, let alone sacrifice himself for a universe she feels didn't deserve. the saddest part of it, she knew it as it was happening despite not being there to physically stop him from doing it. she has survivors guilt. underwent many years of therapy before bouncing back to a somewhat familiar emma that even her girls would recognize. losing a psyche bond makes for immediate memory erasure, especially in such a traumatic way in EG events. a psyche sense lob*tomy if you will. but they had video recordings of their lives together, which at first was confusing but she grew to fall back in love with this stranger relearning who they were while everyone around her remembered. it drove her into this deep obsession with timelines, questioning celestials and beyond to defy the laws of the universe to bring back the love of her life. she'd have run-ins w/ the tva while breaking these laws for her own selfish needs. whether she properly finds the fractured timeline to mend, or finds him in every timeline so to speak, she is committed to meeting him again. there was one timeline in particular that really lured emma during her onset stages of grief, and that was when she actually wielded the power stone. ( an actual v scary thing. ) but, anyways !
