okay, she's weird. first, she's up at the freaking bewitching hour and now she's inviting a male stranger into her home for tea after hearing weird noises come from his apartment? he squints, almost as if he's trying too hard to process her rationale. but it's not until he hears a whimper that he understands.

ah, she's fearless because she has a man-eating protector living with her.

come to think of it, he's seen her walking him a few times, but he didn't expect them to be neighbors. ( wow, he should really pay more attention to his surroundings. )

ji-hun leans against the door's threshold, debating whether he should accept her kindness. it'd be rude to say no, especially when they'll run into each other more. still. his eyes slide toward the lower right, speaking in hushed tones.

❝ can't. i'm scared of your dog. ❞ regular dogs give him pause, but a rottweiler? and he's on edge? arms cross, tempted to glance over his shoulder. lately, the ghosts around here are former students who didn't make it to graduation. some were bullied, others depressed from family pressures. ❝ dogs can sense energy, and they usually don't like mine. ❞

♡          — truthfully , kana had only been home a few moments before noticing the disturbance. she had previously been out completing a job that she didn't necessarily care to elaborate on , but you know , the kind that could only be completed in the dead of night.

in most cases , she would simply put on some music to drown out the noise and mind her own business. but it was once she noticed that her typically placid rottweiler was uncharacteristically unsettled with the sporadic thumps from the other side of the shared wall had her interest peaked. something was off.

hence how she found herself in the hall before her neighbour doing what some might call a welfare check.

although soon furrowed brows softened at his explanation. “  oh , i'm sorry to hear that. ” kana replied earnestly. he did look tired … and familiar now that she thought about it. oh that's right , she had seen him at uni. “  i have some chamomile tea in my apartment if you want some ? helps with sleep , reduces stress. ”

a soft whine then caused her greyish gaze to dart back toward her opened apartment door a little further down the hall. “  rai , bed. ” kana instructed firmly at the large dog peaking his head out into the corridor , only for him to disappear moments later. “ hm , so weird. he's not usually so unsettled. ”
