I have an account! It is more of a place holder at the moment though in case things go south. I already struggle to keep the few sites I'm in updated so I'd rather not add more unless I have to. And I think my issue with Bsky is that I never really liked twitter's format to begin with. I don't have much to say in these kinds of platforms I'm not very talkative online. My social media usage is mostly sharing and enjoying art and this is currently the only site that I know of where it feels comfortable to do so 😫

im just gonna come right out and say it:

pretty much everyone in this fandom portrays Silver as this perfect, flawless, polite, beautiful, princely, romantic gentleman who can do absolutely no wrong in his life ever. which is… not really accurate at all.

he’s odd. he struggles with showing emotions and doesn’t understand social cues very well. his dorm uniform vignette is literally about how people find him strange and unapproachable due to his lack of expressiveness. in his lab coat vignette, Jamil straight up calls him weird to his face and he fully agrees without hesitation.

and in one of his voice lines, he calls Yuu strange just for wanting to hang out with him. stop and think about that for a second. he considers himself boring and doesn’t expect anyone would want to spend time with him. maybe he used to try and make friends, but people kept avoiding him, saying that he wasn’t fun to be around.

he’s not the handsome guy that everybody in the school falls for, he’s the quiet kid who doesn’t say much or has any friends outside of his own personal circle. and i think that has a lot of potential for angst.

Augh such a good emphasis on their differences... On top of it hers is a dying hand (she should have been living and preparing for her wedding and playing tennis and writing back to her worried Mina) and while he's old and full of life ready to carry her will, he should be watching her walk down the aisle with Arthur not with Desth

Yes, definitely. Poor, pale, thin - Lucy's wasting away here, whereas Van Helsing is full of life and vigor comparatively. Even though she is young and he is old. It also emphasizes their dynamic, with Van Helsing's hand being "great" and thus implied to be much bigger than hers, leaning in not only to her current frailty but to him seeing her almost like a child he must care for, and her finding comfort in his protection.

"Down the aisle with Arthur not with Death" oooof but I love the way you said that. Especially with the timing of her staking happening on what would have been her wedding night. In a way Arthur, in being the one to kill vampire!Lucy (or at least, do the main part of it, with the doctors stepping in to cut her head off after), walks her to death himself. But a proper death, not becoming the kind of predatory Death of vampires.

I also really like this moment for how it preludes a later one, when Mina too is preparing for her death:

"When you shall be convinced that I am so changed that it is better that I die that I may live. When I am thus dead in the flesh, then you will, without a moment's delay, drive a stake through me and cut off my head; or do whatever else may be wanting to give me rest!" Quincey was the first to rise after the pause. He knelt down before her and taking her hand in his said solemnly:— "I'm only a rough fellow, who hasn't, perhaps, lived as a man should to win such a distinction, but I swear to you by all that I hold sacred and dear that, should the time ever come, I shall not flinch from the duty that you have set us. And I promise you, too, that I shall make all certain, for if I am only doubtful I shall take it that the time has come!" "My true friend!" was all she could say amid her fast-falling tears, as, bending over, she kissed his hand.

Lucy knows she is about to die, knows at least to some degree that she is about to become a vampire. This moment you point out happens because she is both thanking Van Helsing for protecting Arthur from her mere moments ago... and also requesting that he protect Arthur from her after death, by killing her. She doesn't say so as clearly as Mina does, but the meaning is obvious: "My true friend, and his! Oh, guard him, and give me peace!"

So it's the request for death before they can harm anyone, the hand used to make the promise, the kiss on said hand in gratitude. It's the exact wording in some places, both the men saying I swear and both women calling them my true friend.

The imagery makes me think of knights and their ladies, and the devotion that each man shows to the oath taken in these moments holds true. Van Helsing waits alone in the graveyard all night, fully prepared to die at Dracula's hands for Lucy's sake. Quincey dies ensuring that the moment he swore to act against Mina will never come.

They are great moments both.

I'm a little confused about what Y/N works as. To me, they look like a manager, kind of, but they have a staff hat, so I assume that means they're a lower/general employee. Do they work with Sun and Moon directly or do they just see the boys often when they're working?

So, this is something I'm INCREDIBLY glad I got an ask for, as Y/N's role is very plot relevant to the catalyst event of the fic. (In a way...)

To start off, you're actually half-right on the manager idea! In Chasing Stars, every Pizza-Plex employee is meant to have a 'supervisor' for the first month or so - the person they can go to for help or clarification instead of bothering upper management with their plebeian pleas. This supervisor is also meant to give the employee under them their welcoming tour, along with their uniform. The supervisor is always the most experienced (via time there worked) in the same position (ex. food staff, custodian, P&S) as the person they're supervising, and don't actually have much authority over them.

This is how things usually go, HOWEVER, when Y/N was accepted into their role as General Staff, there wasn't anyone else currently in that position (the previous ones 'left' rather quickly. Hm.) This resulted in them not receiving a supervisor, along with a stark lack of instructions. Sucks for them I guess!

But what sucks even more is that shortly after being hired, ANOTHER general staff member joins the team, and since Y/N is technically the most experienced General Staff member... They become her supervisor.

Who is this mysterious girl? Why, Vanessa A. of course!

Vanessa's nickname for the reader in the fic is 'Boss', and despite Y/N trying to correct her that: A. They have have literally no jurisdiction over her and B. That they're just as clueless as she is, she insists upon the name. Even after she gets put on Security duty due to [SPOILER], she keeps term for Y/N. (Interspersed with a more fond nickname that I shall not disclose yet).

Vanessa and the readers relationship is a significant and complicated one that's going to change a lot throughout the fic. In fact, I'd call it the second most important relationship in terms of plot/themes, after the DCA. But overall, I'd say they're... 'good friends'.

As for the last part of your question - which yeesh, sorry for the yap session - the role of General Staff is to do whatever odd jobs are left over after everyone is assigned their work, but more importantly, they can be called on by any animatronic or other staff member that happens to need help with their job. You can basically summon them like your personal butler. Of course, Sun and Moon abuse this ability to the extreme, which means that Y/N ends up working with them very often. (I mean, the daycare just gets so busy and we're so understaffed!! You understand, don't you? And- we finish the work so quick with YOUR help that you may as well stick around awhile longer, right? Management won't care about a few missing minutes... or hours. We won't tell if you don't :) )

(PS. CS! Vanessa's personality is very inspired by @/naffeclipse, because by god I love her interpretation of the character so much.)

What do you think happened between Kuai Liang and Cyrax?

I think there's enough evidence that they were close. Which begs the question of how close they were…

I've heard a few theories, including that Cyrax was like a little sister to Kuai, but I honestly doubt that what they had was a brother-sister relationship.

First, because he demands a trust from Cyrax that even he himself didn't have in her (since as we all know, he gave up on her without even trying), which indicates that this blind trust he demands from her comes from a deep, but temporary, bond they had at some point. And as we all know, Cyrax didn't grow up with Kuai Liang like Tomas, she was invited to join the main clan because she was a prodigy in her sub-clan.

Second, although Cyrax is currently the youngest Lin Kuei (since there's no official information regarding Frost in MK1 yet), I noticed that in some of her leaked intros, the older characters talk to her in a way that's very similar to how they referred to Smoke's youth (in MK1, Tomas is the youngest among the three heirs of the deceased Grandmaster), that is, although she is the youngest, she is not a minor or inexperienced since there are intros of some characters flirting with her. I believe that her age is very close (if not the same) as Smoke. Which leads to the possibility that Kuai Liang could have had a romantic relationship with her. I mean, It wouldn't have been immoral or indecent of him to have a relationship with her.

Third, although Harumi is currently Kuai Liang's partner, it is said in his ending that he and Harumi were childhood friends and in Smoke's ending, he says that Harumi and Kuai Liang were just friends. Their romantic relationship arose when he went to Japan to hide in her clan. And though one of the story mode fail quotes refers to how much he'd miss seeing Harumi because he dies, I must remind, those who don't know, that the story mode fails are not canon (just like their quotes).

"As children, we played together. But Harumi Shirai was a woman now, the head of her clan."

"Kuai Liang and I were working hard to build our new clan. But even with the help of his close friend, Harumi, it was difficult."

Fourth, Bi-Han and Cyrax's closeness, as well as "her absolute loyalty to Bi-Han" supposed by Kuai, is based solely on mutual acquaintances (Cyrax's bio says that she served Sektor and she says in story mode that Sektor is her instructor and commander, while Sektor's bio shows that she is the one who is really close to Bi-Han), possible common interests (there are leaked intros that show that Bi-Han is surprised by her change of heart, which indicates that she used to believe in his ambitions for the clan just like Sektor, but unlike Sektor she has limits, such as abandoning Earthrealm's defense during Shang Tsung's attack, Bi-Han scratching Kuai's face and learning that Bi-Han had left the late Grandmaster perish) and I'm inclined to believe that it was Bi-Han who invited Cyrax to serve directly under Sektor (so Kuai believing that she would be absolutely loyal to the Grandmaster who gave her such an opportunity makes sense too). Assuming what Kuai says about him and Bi-Han once having a bond as strong as Kitana and Mileena's is true, and recognizing Bi-Han's clear hurt and disappointment that his blood brother refused to continue following him, it's easy to imagine that Kuai Liang was always following his older brother around, and knowing that Cyrax has been shadowing Sektor as her servant/apprentice… Even if it's cliché, it's quite common to happen. It's not unlikely that they got closer and had a thing once so they wouldn't always be a third wheel.

Fifth, she sounds really heartbroken that he disappeared without explanation. Which indicates that she had feelings for him (or still has…)

Sixth, but not the least, there is this intro that when datamined, was said by the dataminer that it was at the top (which indicates that it's one of Cyrax's intros):

From what I know, this (often) means having fallen in love and had a relationship with a certain person, in this case, Cyrax with Kuai-Liang/Scorpion.

Why do people like Lily? From what we've seen of her in the books she seems like a charming and good hearted person but also someone who is shallow, judgemental, a social climber, a classist and immature. Why do people make her out to be this feminist, kind hearted role model that is always morally above others and everyone likes her because she is oh so kind and great? It makes me cringe. From the text we can see that she had a black and white thinking, was shallow and probably self righeous, always thinking she's right and not being able to see the perspective of others. (We can see this in her interactions with Snape) So why do people love her? Do people really need a 'girl boss' in every fandom? There always seems to be one that's just made up by the fans. It looks like people just need a character they can point at and say "see we care about female characters, this one is oh so great, she can't do no wrong, worship her please." 🙄

Look, no offence, but... what? 'Shallow, classist, judgmental, social climber' what? Where are you getting this? Because she stopped being friends with a boy who literally called her a slur? Because she criticised that boy for defending and befriending people who were bigoted against people like herself? Like sorry but I think I'm entirely the wrong person to come to with this kind of thing. I fully disagree. I could not disagree more.

Black and white thinking? The opposite. Lily remained friends with someone who espoused the exact opposite of her beliefs for way too long. Not just her beliefs, but her right to exist. She tolerated Snape (and I do love him as a character, but still) way more than she should have, objectively speaking. That's the opposite of black and white. She was way too understanding, way too empathetic with him. She didn't judge Snape hard enough, in my opinion.

Nah, look idk what you were hoping with this ask but I'm sorry, I'm generally a staunch Lily defender and I heavily disagree with what you're saying. It's not that I think she's a perfect person, she certainly has her flaws like anyone. I don't think that she should be idealised, I think she should be given complexity like any character, but neither do I think she's classist (esp since she's meant to be working class) nor particularly judgmental nor shallow nor immature. I love Snape but he was terrible to her. He befriended people who wanted her dead. Lily didn't owe him anything, and her """righteousness""" as you say is not only entirely justified, but objectively speaking she should have dropped that bitch way earlier.

Why do people (including myself) love Lily? Because she was a good person. Because she was brave and decent and kind. She remained friends with Sev for years despite peer pressure and common sense and she defended him without hesitation. She dedicated her life to fighting for what was right. Lily is a good person. She's not inherently, morally above others, she's not perfect but she was a good, kind person, the way her son is a good, kind person.

Not that difficult to understand imo, unless you have way higher standards for male characters than female characters. Not everyone has to like or be interested in Lily but pretending she's somehow worse/less worthy of interest than Snape, James, Sirius, Regulus, etc (and I imagine you've got to be a fan of some of these marauders era characters if you're reading my blog) because she dropped a guy who wanted to join a fascist group that wanted her dead is absolutely ridiculous.

Lily is so kind and great. Her act of bravery and sacrifice is what kickstarts the entire HP series. Sorry. Like absolutely not, I completely disagree with you about Lily's character. People liking a female character doesn't mean that they have a shallow 'girl boss' approach to that character, and I find that a condescending explanation for why people like myself might be fans of Lily Evans. Maybe, and you perhaps should consider this, us fans of Lily just enjoy and are interested in female characters the exact same way we might be interested in male ones.

Look I don't want to be mean, but can't you tell from my icon, which is clearly supposed to be Lily, that I love Lily? Lily is one of my favourite HP characters. I really don't want to be rude but I'm absolutely the last person who'd share this viewpoint.
