something about the smile on the woman's face causes jack to stare a little too long. the corners of his lips pull into a small answering smile. after a moment or two of nearly uncomfortable silence, jack clears his throat and actually answers her last question. "go ahead and add the framing to the bill. is there something i could take with me, a catalogue maybe, of frame options? i could confirm with my boss." he'd much rather ask rosaline and save himself the headache of choosing the wrong frame and getting that look of disappointment, having to replace it and wasting the family's time and money. plus, it isn't in jack's nature to make full decisions for his family anyway. sure he can run errands and make minor choices, but he learned when he was growing up that despite his best intentions, he rarely knows what his parents want. he could always guess and his intuition has gotten better over time, but there is always the possibility he made the wrong choice or the wrong decision and would have to face the consequences later.

While he did not quite realize that she was doing it to him, Ryder would not be surprised if Alice revealed that he had been apart of it. Should he have expected it? Maybe. Another snort of laughter at her words as eyebrows raised. "Personality edging?" He repeated incredulously. The question had him pausing as if considering his response, trying his best to fight off a smile. "Kinda, I guess? I don't know what personality edging feels like."

making him laugh like this was also part of the fun of upping the ante. she liked saying shit people wouldn't even think to expect. "it's like...personality edging." she hadn't reached the line of how much she could step it up yet, but she really appreciated it when people like ryder matched her energy. "how are you feeling? are you feeling edged?"

"I don't think that it was that overboard. Maybe, like, 25% overboard?" He was trying to be more open for her sake. (Plus the fact that he definitely experienced the worst when he was left to his own devices). A small shrug followed. "It can't be that bad with that sort of personality."

the very corner of trint’s mouth rose slightly as Alice spoke and he gazed at her. “ it’s an honor, “ he lightly and jokingly placed his hand over his chest, where his heart was before a laugh slipped. in all seriousness — he would hate to let her down, in any way. trust wasn’t one of them though, she could trust him and he would do whatever it took not to betray it. “ y’know, when I first saw you on stage I thought to myself: I gotta meet this girl.
