barbara took the small victory. she knew bruce well enough to know this was probably killing him ❝well for starters, i am not going to give you free reign like my father did.❞ she stated ❝and you will respect me as commissioner gordon, not as babs the girl you knew as batgirl. are we clear?❞ it seemed whenever she got around bruce or dick, she felt herself slowly become that girl again. she had fought for the respect of her fellow police officers, even some of the people of gotham had welcomed her, but it seemed bruce always saw her as that young girl.

🦇 ───── she wanted a more proper way of working together, so that criminals with good lawyers couldn't end up back on the street so easily, he could understand that. hell he respected that. he was listening as he cleared his throat ever so slightly, "most of the time." he amused as he dropped his gaze and pressed his lips together some while considering the words spoken to him. she clearly had ideas on how to ensure this and he wanted to help her in anyway he could because .... it was a good idea. it was .... smart even. he breathed out and licked his lips. "you busy, i'd like to discuss the details of what you need from me. your office, we could order in. my treat." he added in as if it needed saying.

barbara looked at bruce and sighed ❝well for one, i don't want you to do this alone. i don't mean having a robin or even a new batgirl. i mean working with the police, within the law.❞ she looked concerned ❝clark works within the law most of the time, oliver does... we need to make sure that there's no loop hole these criminals can get out of.❞ she wasn't stupid. him just working with her as chief of police, wouldn't stop crime in gotham, but if the bat was subject to the law, then they could make the criminals. it was going to be a long and hard process, but their current system didn't produce much results. perhaps a different tactic

🦇 ───── he was not going to send her away, her proposal was something he and jim could never quite find ground on, but bruce had been far closer to the belt. the difference here was he had barbara who knew him on a level her father never could. they worked together in suits, now even with her in gcpd and him as the bat they knew each other. he gave a slow nod of his head to show he had heard her, he respected her words. "you know i trust you, barbara. we wouldn't have worked as we did if i didn't." he pointed out slowly. he cleared his throat some. "what exactly do you want me to do... " he didn't know how to word this. "different? call ahead of time?" he spoke with a small grin.

barbara had taken over for her father in gotham pd, and she decided she was sick of the crime. she had lost her father, jason, dick was gone, and she also lost the use of her legs. it wasn't getting any better. it was any better with batman, and gcpd wasn't able to control the rampant crime. time for a new strategy, time for a new gotham. ❝bruce, you know i admire you, and i will always be grateful for what you did for me,❞ she paused ❝but we need to change how we both deal with crime in this town. the cops and the bat have to work together. you can't do it alone, and we can't do it without you.❞ quickly she added ❝no one but me will know your identity. i promise❞

🦇 ───── bruce maybe didn't have the best relationship in regards to the younger members of this family but it wasn't about a lack of trying. it was a complex layer of bruce as he tried to be there for them but he could have a tendency to cut them all out as if it might spare them the lonely life he created for himself. "barbara." he spoke as he rubbed at his arm and crossed them over his chest a few minutes later. "what kind of capacity brings you here today?" he asked in a polite manner. she would understand what he meant, bat or gcpd or what?
