#& twilight clerics ensure that 'the darkness is a comfort not a terror' which feels like crowley shielding humanity from hell

i've been trying to figure out how everyone in good omens would translate as a dungeons & dragons character and so far i've got:
heaven vs hell = fey vs infernal. 'but why wouldn't heaven be celestials?' you ask. excellent question. that's for aziraphale and crowley to question, and no one in heaven to know for certain.
heaven, of course, assumes they Are celestials, because they've never met an actual celestial in person and have no reason to think otherwise, and if you so much as think that they might not be you're getting smited/smitten/smote, buckaroo.
adam young is a tiefling but his parents assume he just takes after someone way back on his dad's side.
the Them are a fighter (pepper), a wizard (wensleydale), and an artificer (brian). they are all still kids.
one of crowley & aziraphale is an oathbreaker paladin and the other one is a twilight cleric. so far i Think it's book aziraphale = cleric / tv aziraphale = oathbreaker, and book crowley = oathbreaker / tv crowley = cleric, but it could be the other way around. or they're both multi-classed. i have to think more about that before i decide.
#my argument for cleric aziraphale is: it would be Extremely funny if he's the odd angel out bc he's the only one Actually worshipping god#& one of the descriptions of twilight clerics says 'gods of twilight guard against the horrors of the night' which feels very angel of him#and my argument for oathbreaker crowley is that it would account for his profound sense of loneliness to have broken that oath#and ditching your oath feels a lot more like quitting a job than say. forsaking a god as a cleric#but Also cleric crowley is poetic if he's the odd man out in hell because he still loves god#& twilight clerics ensure that 'the darkness is a comfort not a terror' which feels like crowley shielding humanity from hell#and Also paladin aziraphale fits the flaming sword and it would be poetic to see his oath break when he decides to stop the apocalypse#i'm very devoted to paladin aziraphale as a concept bc i like to remember that he is a warrior. he just doesn't Want to be#anyway i love trying to transpose characters into their dnd versions it's always Such a challenge#i've done it with sherlock holmes. john constantine. and the triumvirate from star trek: tos so far and it's been immense fun#good omens#aziraphale#crowley#oxly hollers

Trigun characters as D&D races + classes, because fuck it, I'm bored.
-Vash:
Class: Cleric in the Peace Domain
God: Either Eldath or Illmater.
Race: Aasimar
-Knives:
Class: Oath of Vengeance paladin
God: Hoar
Race: Aasimar
Honestly, not sure if Hoar would take him or if Knives would end up being an Oathbreaker, given how extreme Knives gets against humans. But its the best I've got for now. Anybody else have any other ideas, feel free to add.
Also debating what subclass the lads should be. I know going Protector Aasimar for Vash is kinda the obvious choice, but I also kinda love the idea of Scourge Aasimar Vash? Not only because "you can use your action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing a searing light to radiate from you, pour out of your eyes and mouth, and threaten to char you" sounds METAL AS HELL, and exactly like the kind of thing that would have to preclude a warning of "Be not afraid", but also because of the deliciousness of Vash's angel powers being the ones that burn him up as badly as whoever he's fighting nearby whenever he uses them.
Which is also why I kinda love the idea of Protector Aasimar Knives- Vash's angel powers just hurt him whenever he uses them, unlike Knives' abilities (that are- he thinks- CLEARLY more useful), so therefore Knives has to be the one to protect his baby brother from himself the world everything else and keep him from hurting himself.
Just. The infantilization and gaslighting and poetic irony of it all. Yes, good.
Also this bit about Aasimar, from the Dungeon Master's Guide, "Aasimar often attempt to pass as humans in order to right wrongs and defend goodness on the Material Plane without drawing undue attention to their celestial heritage. They strive to fit into society, although they usually rise to the top, becoming revered leaders and honorable heroes."
-Wolfwood:
Race: Half- elf.
Class: Rogue (Assassin)/Cleric of the Twilight Domain.
God: Selune.
If he got to pick a god and role for himself to worship, I mean. The whole thing about the Twilight Domain is, to quote Tasha's Cauldron of Everything,
"The twilit transition from light into darkness often brings calm and even joy, as the day's labors end and the hours of rest begin. The darkness can also bring terrors, but the gods of twilight guard against the horrors of the night.
Clerics who serve these deities [...] bring comfort to those who seek rest and protect them by venturing into the encroaching darkness to ensure that the dark is a comfort, not a terror."
Also something something, Twilight Domain lets you fly at 6th level with Steps of Night for 1 minute per your proficiency bonus, if your in dim light and darkness. Something something, Vash's angel powers don't give him wings/the ability to fly (but Knives' does), so Wolfwood could let Vash borrow his.
-Meryl:
Race: Human
Class: Rogue (Inquisitive)
-Milly:
Race: Halfing (Stout)
Class: Cleric in the Life Domain.
God: Cyrrollalee
Honestly wasn't sure what class to put Milly in, but this is my best guess besides maybe some type of Fighter.

yall ever combine hyperfixations? yeah me too... anyways tlou2 characters as dnd classes, let’s go
ellie: rogue is a semi-obvious choice, look at the way she fights, and i kinda feel an argument for bard bc she is p artsy? HOWEVER! i really can’t see her using her music or writing as weapons- they’re more her way of calming back down after a fight to me. my personal favourite is paladin w an oath of vengeance (for obvious reasons). VERY cool to me
joel: i want to say fighter, plain and simple. he’s practical, strong and good w a variety of weapons, none of this fancy magic mumbo jumbo. a lot of fighters also fall into the smuggler/mercenary archetype, as well as being lone wolf types with tragic backstories who stumble their way into a found family lmao
abby: do i even have to say it? barbarian. easy. no magic, only smash as hard as she can! and good for her :) could ALSO be an oath of vengeance paladin too, but becomes a kind of neutral-aligned oathbreaker as she meets lev and moves on from revenge being all-important to her, which would be a super interesting journey to play out i think
dina: y’know, coming up w one for her was kind of hard, but i like the idea of either a light or twilight domain cleric! light domain is about chasing away the darkness and bringing light and positivity to the world around you, but twilight domain is about protecting and comforting your loved ones by “venturing into the encroaching darkness to ensure that the dark is a comfort, not a terror.” does that not sound exactly like what she represents for ellie, hello
lev: ranger of course! he even has the classic main weapon for a ranger already with his bow. he’s stealthy, smart and v knowledgeable for his age abt nature/survivalism bc of how the seraphites operate, it all fits so perfectly for him
#wish i could draw these bc the mental image of avenging angel ellie... GOD thats cool as hell#tlou#tlou part 2#levi.doc#ive only ever been in 1 campaign so far so be patient if my understandings of the classes arent perfect lol#also i dont want to get into races for the most part but... hmmm#aasimar ellie whose destiny was to destroy herself/save the world and becomes fallen after shes taken from st marys... hmmmmmmmmm#or if she falls at santa barbara bc she was supposed to 'carry out justice' there and she chose not to for the first time... god#many thoughts head full
