nancy as a mother is just so polarized in so many ways. like how ive been slow crafting her personality, her backstory, etc. its really just. she has such hard-limited thresholds of capacity to love or to care or to empathize with others, and really the only person who does actually get to meet where that threshold halts is johnny - but even then, theres so much cruel and harsh mistreatment that he's both witnessed and had done towards him thats it all genuinely so fucking confusing whether that sense of love she's got towards him has any actual merit and truth behind it or if its all some twisted bizarre act she puts on with him, too.

like outside looking in, i know as the quiet puppeteer behind the scenes that it is - but i also know how fucking convoluted and purposely calculated and weaved everything can be with nancy.

arguably, the only others who've ever gotten to experience something close to that more nurturing maternal affection from her are any children johnny might have down the line. and thats really only because they are an extension of him - and getting her to not pull similar antics that she did while he was growing up with those kids is hmm.
