Time: PAST  Location: Eden, Netta’s home  Characters: @netteliax & @prometheanpiero
It would be many years later when Prometheus voluntarily forced himself to forget the love and bliss. When he’d push away memories that would never truly go away but would be instead be stifled by madness-induced rage. It would be many years later when Prometheus no longer spent each day thinking back on that first glorious night. Many years later when he’d forget to remember that paradise had always been a place in Nettelia’s arms, not a realm or geography.
But there was only joy then, true Eden. One night under the aurora borealis would be etched into his heart forever, and it would be followed by another. He came to her home the next evening and remained there, procrastinating the truth for just one more night of pure bliss. But when the sun rose and the birds sang outside her window, Etheus ran his hand gently over the skin of Nettelia’s side and finally broke the comfortable, blissful silence. “Have you ever done something very, very wrong,” he murmured, “and never truly regretted it?”

For someone who’d never experienced real pain, or heartache, it was easy to promise a fragile future when Nettelia had no frame of reference on what loss even felt like. She had no siblings, or parents, and none that the woman had been made to bury or mourn. Eden was not without the odd tragedy, she saw men and women who threw themselves at the graves of children who dared heights that they should not have braved - and fell to the ground before any of their divine protectors could swoop in. Nettelia saw their tears and their immeasurable sorry but lacked the ability to fully empathize, she felt bad for them, sure, but she couldn’t relate to them in any way.
Prometheus had committed a crime that was unimaginable in the eyes of the Gods - one that would have been unimaginable to her as well were this a few weeks prior, but she couldn’t shame him for giving her something that Nettelia had taken advantage of for so long. “Nothing will ever come between us,” A promise that Nettelia couldn’t possibly have been able to keep, “but any amount of time with you are moments I’ll always treasure.” She had no desire for children or for family, but she had an immense desire for him: he would be her family, he would be the answer to the loneliness that the woman had never known that she was feeling.

Nothing will ever come between us. Except the punishment of distance and time and what the avariel had come to accept would likely be his eventual mercy death. There was peace among the seraphim and the fey were now safe. His father was still alive, as was his mother; they would speak on his behalf surely. They would let him go from this world after whatever untold pain was caused to him. Though not any sort of pain that would leave him with regrets. Nothing will ever come between us. Etheus chose to believe that she meant this love, this devotion, which was undying. It would survive catastrophe, even when he was no longer there.
The avariel had been playful for very long, carefree despite the tragedy that had befallen Hyperborea. Etheus swelled with joy and relief - he couldn’t help himself as he smiled wide and pressed a deep kiss to her lips. Then he sat up. There was a gust and displacement of air that would send some of the sheets almost flying off. Not two seconds later, the avariel had on a robe as he sat over on Nettelia’s side of the bed. There was no one concept for marriage, at least not in the way that humans would eventually come to make it. But there were bonds and promises, and those were perhaps the most sacred part of union, not all the ceremony, expectations and ulterior motives. Only the bond mattered to Etheus, only the hope that they would spend what remaining time he had together. He chose to be playful and to be as joyful as he felt. The heaviness of reality could wait.
“Then marry me. Not in the way the noble fey do for their magic or the way that some of you humans do to bring your groups together... Just let me be with you for however long I have in Eden.” His smile grew a little as he brushed a finger down the white feather entwined in her hair. “Let me love you, let me care for you and let me honor you every day. I would choose no one else for as long as I live, perhaps even after... depending where I go.” Etheus grinned briefly, choosing to make the latter into a lighthearted joke. But his expression became far more sincere as he continued on, “I’ve been alive for what many would say is a long time, Nettelia... It never felt that way. I went through the motions, doing what was asked and never seeing past that. I woke up the day you and your kin did. And then... I don’t think I started living until the lake and those disgusting leeches.”
