the  trans  population  of  shapeshifters  is  MUCH  higher  than  in  humans.  due  to  the  easy  of  shifting  between  ‘ male ’  and  ‘ female ’  forms ,  non - binary  gender  identities  are  also  100%  unarguably  valid  in  shapeshifter  society     (   and  have  been   ?     pretty  much  forever   ??   ).

gender  identity  tends  to  focus  more  around  pronoun  choice  than  choice  of  faces ,  for  example  eliza  uses  exclusively  she  /  her  pronouns  to  describe  herself ,  but  in  a  ‘ male ’  form  she  would  call  herself  a  man.  for  her ,  gender  identity  is  an  internal  thing ,  but  it  doesn’t  affect  the  form  she’s  taken.  it’s  v  common  for  shapeshifters  to  have  two  different  gender  identities ,  one  for  themselves  and  one     (   a  generally  more  variable  one   )     for  forms  they’ve  taken.

yo  clothes  don’t  shift  when  they  change  faces  lmao.  this  is  more  specific  to  eliza ,  but  she  wears  a  lot  of  cheap  clothes  and  a  lot  of  clothes  that  are  a  size  or  two  too  big     (   she  can  pull  it  off  in  smaller  forms ,  then  they  fit  fine  if  she  shifts  to  someone  bigger   ).     also  she  often  carries  around  a  spare  t  shirt  or  big  jacket  in  case  of  emergencies.

also  bc  of  the  above  she  goes  braless  quite  a  lot.

there  are  races  of  shapeshifters  that  can  transform  into  animals ;  there’s  all  different  kinds  n  denominations ,  but  eliza’s  clan     (   and  most  of  the  shapeshifters  in  england   )     can’t.
