The Eras Tour | The Tortured Poets Department section | Version 1

Vivienne Westwood 'Messaline Orb Three Row Choker' - $600.00

Many more thoughts to come on the newly added Tortured Poets set to the Eras Tour, but it feels noteworthy with this necklace to take a moment and track the progression of VW as an Easter Egg.

Back in January, Taylor threw us an intentional Easter egg red herring courtesy of a candid outfit while out to dinner with Blake Lively. Her ensemble (a velvet olive green dress and leather boots adorned with snakes) screamed reputation (as she knew it would be perceived as such) but the hidden clue all along was the VW bag she was carrying.

The bag in question featured VW's iconic 'orb' logo which we also see here on this choker. The orb, to VW, was meant to be a take on the Sovereign orb of the British Royal Family and a cheeky reference to Vivienne's self-described title of "queen" of fashion.

We also saw one of Vivienne Westwood's ruffled shirts pop up in the "Fortnight" music video as Taylor received electroshock therapy for her perceived descent into madness.

And now we see this designer on the Eras Tour stage, bringing together the Clara Bow-esque choker accessorizing from Taylor's 2024 Grammys appearance full circle.

It also doesn't escape my notice that Taylor would opt to use the designs of one of the most well know British designers in the stage incarnation of what she dubbed Female Rage: The Musical from an album that achingly documents two high profile splits from British men.

About Guilherme

Guilherme Taucci Monteiro was born on 07/05/2001 in the city of Mogi das Cruzes, in the interior of São Paulo.

He moved to Suzano at a very young age to live with his grandparents in the Jardim Imperador neighborhood.

He came from a humble family. At the age of 6 months, he began to be raised by his maternal grandparents, Benedito Luiz Cardoso and Arlete Taucci, because his parents, Tatiana Taucci and Rogério Machado Monteiro, were drug addicts. His mother already had a son before him, Victor, who was raised by his father's family. Years later, she gave birth to two girls, who lived with Taucci and his grandparents. In 2015, she had Vitória, who lives with her father.

He was a quiet boy until his teenage years. In 2017, he dropped out of his second year of high school at Raul Brasil, claiming he had no friends. Some people remember that he was not bullied, while others claim that he was teased because of the acne on his face and back – one of his biggest insecurities. Benedito even paid for him to get acne treatment. “He studied until his second year of high school, last year. Then he dropped out of school. He complained that people were making fun of the pimples on his face and back. They gave him embarrassing nicknames. I even paid for his [acne] treatment,” he recalled. He worked with his maternal uncle, Jorge Antonio Moraes, but was fired in 2017.

Antonio was not the only family member with whom Taucci had disagreements. Benedito stated that Guilherme had never drunk or used drugs, at least not in front of him, and used to say that he “wanted to burn all drug users”, referring to his parents. Taucci and his mother didn’t get along and rarely saw each other. His grandfather, relatives and people who knew Taucci all had good things to say about him and said it was impossible to imagine he would do something like that. His grandfather said, “He was a good boy, he didn’t have any drug problems and he never gave me any trouble.” Loving, obedient, passionate about games, polite, careful with his sisters – a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl – quiet and shy, these are adjectives he likes to describe his grandson. “If someone told me that, I would say it was a lie. He was always very polite, very reserved and very respectful. He was very fond of his grandfather. I can’t understand what could have caused such an outburst,” says his aunt Karina Morais. “They were normal boys (Luiz and Taucci). They said good morning, good afternoon, good night. They didn’t do drugs,” says driver Cássio Nogueira, 39, a neighbor who saw them grow up. “He always liked Nazism, gothic clothes and that emo fringe. The boys have fun with these things, it wasn't just him. My poor son,” says his mother. Benedito claims that Taucci had plans for his life.

Months after the massacre, he would turn 18 and Luiz Henrique de Castro's father had promised Taucci a job in the same position as his friend, cleaning and preserving squares in São Paulo. According to Benedito, he would earn R$1,400 per month and would receive food vouchers. He told his grandfather that he would give him the voucher to help with household expenses, since Benedito has a minimum retirement income. He also said that Taucci used to accept short-term jobs to buy games or other items online. The last job he supposedly got was at a hot dog stand, earning R$600.00.

Taucci’s grandmother passed away in December 2018. Benedito recalls that Guilherme seemed indifferent at first, but when asked if he wasn’t suffering the loss, he replied: “Grandpa, I felt it on the way.” On the morning of the attack, Guilherme left a burned photo on the floor of his room, which his mother recognized as being of him with the teenager’s father. Benedito also talks about his grandson’s behavior the day before the massacre, “Yesterday, when he came home from the street at night, I heated up dinner for him. Everything was fine,” Guilherme ate rice, beans and a hamburger. “He loved hamburgers.”

We can’t pinpoint the exact reasons for him carrying out a school shooting, since Benedito always gave him what he wanted: his computer, TV, internet and, as he has said several times, he seemed “fine” with his life. No one would ever know what they planned to do.

help me help my cat

As you may know I had an expensive unforeseen doctor visit recently involving travel to see a doctor out-of-state that I took a great deal of commissions to cover, meaning that I'm now fully booked up to the end of October. This was the latest in an ongoing series of financial emergencies as I enter my second year of trying and failing to find a full-time job that will pay a living wage, including an unforeseen cross-state move, multiple medical emergencies in myself, my mom, and my cat, and car maintenance issues including me being involved in a minor hit-and-run. I have been doing my best to stay afloat with commissions but am booked to the gills.

If I was now experiencing any emergency that affected only myself I would not be here begging and humbling myself yet again, but this one pertains to my cat. Some of you may know that I have a sixteen year old cat with cancer, who has repeatedly faked me out thinking she was on deaths doorstep. Several months ago I was convinced she was going to need euthanasia, only for a new course of treatment to suddenly right the ship once more in what I can only describe as a minor miracle. Unfortunately she has complicated the situation again, and it appears to be time for me to make a difficult decision.

While she is technically in hospice care, she has an ear infection, and I have a choice before me: I feel I must try to treat this and see if she bounces back, because her only notable bad symptoms are pain and a sudden loss of balance and our initial "wait it out and treat the symptoms" approach that her vet suggested given her precarious situation did not yield the results we'd hoped. She needs actual treatment of the ear infection, but there's also a chance that even with it, this is the end of the line for her, as the balance issues may be neurological instead.

The cost to have her seen by a vet will be substantial, as she must receive home visits. She has to be sedated at the vets office otherwise and her frail health precludes her from being sedated at the moment. I am looking at probably around 300 dollars for an in-house visit to reassess her ears and have them re-treated.

If the ear infection treatment does not restore her balance, then we will be looking at an at-home euthanasia cost of almost 600.00 for the cheapest, no-memorial option. I am very prepared for the idea that I will need to cover both of these expenses within the week, and this is my current bank balance:

My mother has also had several emergencies and cannot help.

I have exhausted all my savings after this year of unexpected expenses and cannot in good conscience take more commissions. I already owe backlog of one commission type (chibi sketches) from months ago during the last crisis which I'm slowly working through and have regular commissions completely full. I have no esks or stygians left to sell except for founder and socket, which I am considering.

I will be selling a special semi-gacha but otherwise I have no recourse available to me but to humbly, once again, ask for donations.

I have nothing to offer in exchange this time but my gratitude for your patience and generosity.

The van that you mentioned earlier, is it a normal van or a inmate transport?

We do not have a real inmate van. When it is needed, we rent an extended, 18 passenger van. The last time we had enough inmates to justify the cost ($600.00 +) was in March.

We are trying to put together a real transport van, but we have many hurdles. Insurance, storage, repairs and funding are the biggest issue. It is also not the most popular duty amoung the guards. I personally enjoy doing 3 to 4 hour transports. Any longer is very tiring.

Sarann Knight (July 22, 1920 - December 22, 2014) was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma to parents of mixed African American and Native American ancestry. She migrated to Las Vegas in 1942, settling with her husband, Luther Walker, in the Westside African American community. She first sought employment on Jackson Street, the Black business district, and soon became a Keno writer in the Cotton Club. She moved to Hawthorne, Nevada with her husband and purchased her first gaming venture, a nightclub for Blacks offered to her for $600.00. Borrowing the money from her father, she renamed the enterprise the Tonga Club. She became the first Black woman to own a gaming license in Nevada.

She returned to Las Vegas in 1955 and went to work at Jerry’s Nugget as an experiment. The NAACP had been told that Jerry’s Nugget would hire a Black dealer if they could send in a qualified person. She accepted the challenge, intending to work at the North Las Vegas casino for six months. She stayed there for seven years.

She went back into business for herself as the owner and operator of The People’s Choice Casino. She purchased the famed Moulin Rouge in 1989 with her third husband, Joe Preddy. The resort had passed through several owners, never realizing the success that it had enjoyed in its heyday. The problems continued despite her best efforts. The Rouge was closed in the late 1990s, and the famed hotel casino burned to the ground in 2003.

She ran for the Las Vegas City Council, served on the local NAACP Executive Board, organized the Women’s Auxiliary to the local NAACP branch, and became a founding member of the Las Vegas Barbara Jordan Democratic Club. She was a key leader in the business sorority, Gamma Phi Delta.
