Prompt 1 - Opening Ceremony

Because I am an absolute nutter, it looks like I'm swapping the two series I did last month over so now we have part two of the Apple Core series that was a Jegulus story but now it's following on as a Wolfstar. I'll link the pervious Jegulus series if any one wants to read that first. Hope you enjoy.

“Come on Remus, get the banner higher, like James’s side. Yes, that’s better. Perfect.” Sirius directed from the floor while James and Remus balanced precariously on chairs outside the café. Sirius and Remus had just bought it for a relatively good price. He’d sunk everything he had into it, well what he had left after getting them the nice flat. It was just typical that this place went on the market with a perfectly adequate flat above it the day after they exchanged contracts for their flat. Sirius had made a fuss about it at the time, but he believed everything happened for a reason. He had this niggling feeling that he and Remus were not meant to live in the flat above the café, so he put it out of his mind and got to work.

The café had been a disaster. They’d had to rip everything out to the studs and start again, but that meant they could use the space however they wanted. They did as much as they could themselves to keep costs down, which basically meant telling James what they wanted and pointing him in the right direction. 

But today was opening day and Sirius was nervous. What if nobody came? What if this was a colossal waste of money, and he was just a waster like his parents had told him over and over as he was growing up? His thoughts turned to his brother for a second. He hadn’t seen him in 5 years and had no idea what he was doing. As far as he knew, Regulus still lived in that house with them. He quickly put an end to that train of thought. He highly doubted he’d see or hear from Regulus any time soon. 

He stood back to appraise their handiwork. He grinned a face-spitting smile. The banner proclaiming Open for Business proudly hung under the shimmering blue-tinged white letterings of their shop’s name, Howlin’ at the Moon. He just needed to add the finishing touches, and they’d be ready for the grand opening ceremony. He ran back inside and began to drag out the piece of rolled-up red carpet, the velvet ropes and the big red ribbon. When he was done, he jumped around with glee and checked his watch for the time. They still had two hours.   

Effie and Monty turned up to help make all the samples. He and Remus had kept it simple. Shots of their signature coffee blend and miniature cheese toasties, which were normal cheese toasties artfully cut up by Monty himself. 

“Sirius look,” Remus physically spun him around to face the glass front of the shop. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Already there was a huge crowd waiting patiently for the doors to open. 

“Mum!” He called into the back, “We’re going to need more cheese toasties, a lot more,” Effie came round to see what was going on and gave him a big squeeze. 

“You’re going to be amazing darling,” She whispered into his ear as she planted a big wet kiss only a mother could give on his cheek. “And don’t think you can sneak away Mr, you’re just as much a part of this family as the others are,” Effie wrapped her arms around Remus, who’d been trying to avoid her kisses, and held him there while she covered his face with red lipstick. 

“How many times do we have to tell you, Moony,” James snickered from the other side of the counter. “You can’t run away from her, it’s best just to accept her love and be done with it,” Remus grumbled at him and made rude gestures when Effie’s back was turned as he tried to wipe the red stains off his face. The clock chimed and it was time to go.

Sirius swallowed nervously as he took in the crowd. He was standing with an oversized pair of scissors in front of the door, preparing to make a speech. He took a deep steadying breath and felt his body tremble. Remus came and stood beside him, and together they introduced themselves and welcomed everyone to their café. Holding the scissors between them, they cut the ribbon and watched it fall to the floor as the local paper took a photo of the event. They opened the door and the crowd surged forward. Howlin’ at the Moon was officially open.

I finished my next big piece! This is a revamped version of a piece I did a number of years ago for the grand opening of Ravio's shop for heroes! I included some detail shots including a cameo by our favorite little hero in the green tunic.

I really wanted to make this poster look old and like it's been around the block a couple times. Something that a shop owner would put up on a wall in Kakariko Village. This was also my first deep dive into some real digital painting using watercolor and sponge brushes.

I'll probably be making some prints of this in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Meghan on day two of the grand opening of the Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, California. (9/7/24)

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, stood at the front of a new bookstore in the oceanside enclave of Summerland, California over the weekend and recalled the last time she set foot in a similar spot. It was back in 2019, during a covert trip to New York from the UK to watch her friend, Serena Williams, play in the U.S. Open. She stayed for a night in the West Village with another friend, designer Misha Nonoo; before anybody knew Meghan was in town, she went for a walk to a bookstore.

“For me, sneaking to New York five years ago was a really big deal,” the duchess said, describing how she put on a cap and kept her head down. “I was still so uncomfortable being out in the world,” she continued, hinting at that fraught time in her tenure as a working royal. “The safety of what I was craving, I knew I could find in a bookstore.”

Radio City Music Hall opened on December 27, 1932—the first building in Rockefeller Center to be completed. It was a glamorous evening, with hundreds of celebrities. On the left are Tammany Hall boss John F. Curry and his wife, and on the right are Nelson Rockefeller, Mrs. Raymond Hood (wife of the architect), and Mrs. S.A. Rothafel (wife of the theatrical impresario Roxy Rothafel).

It's The Final Countdown!

Today is the last day to enter your application!! Tomorrow, on Christmas day I will be closing applications!!

Because I got so so so many more than I thought I would, I'm going to go with my Plan B on managing them:

Dec. 26, 27 & 28 will be dedicated to sifting through applications and making decisions on who to bring onboard. 29, 30 & 31 will be spent bringing people into the server. On those three days you won't have full access to much, just each other and a few basic discussion channels. Once you get an invite, it'll be good for 1 week! 3 days into that week I'll send a notice to your secondary contact, assuming you handed me one/it works!

On January 1st, everyone gets access to the lore (with the exception of youngans, of course) and they have, ultimately, until the 15th to settle on a character and make their first post.

The roleplay itself starts in the middle, on the 8th, a week after lore access is given.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you again for all your support and how dear you all have been! I never expected so much support, so much interest, so much concern and investment - I thought this would be experimental at best, but it really looks like my sparkling dreams of a true multigenerational/longterm/slowburn wcrp might actually be POSSIBLE.

Meghan spoke at the Godmothers bookstore grand opening in Summerland, California. This was night two of the grand opening. Co-owners, Literary agent Jennifer Walsh and author Victoria Jackson’s bookstore, congratulations ladies. Oprah was there to speak as well. Meghan’s children’s book “The Bench” and Harrying memoir “Spare”, is are being displayed and sold at the bookstore as well. They were being celebrated alongside all the other local hometown authors as well. (9/7/24)

Inside the Bandai Namco Store American Dream Mall Grand Opening

On Friday, May 31st, 2024 we attended the grand opening of the very first Bandai Namco store in the United States! This store is located at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A select few, including ourselves, were invited before the store opened to be the very first ones to experience the store, take pictures, record video, and even speak with Bandai staff!

After checking-in we were immediately given press badges along with Bandai Namco swag bags! The swag bags include various products including Nano Blocks, Tamagotchi, keychains and more.

After entering the store we immediately gravitated to the Tamagotchi section which is on the back wall, an ideal location to see as you’re walking by the store. On display is an impressive amount of Tamagotchi’s in their packaging ready for purchase, but also in store displays where you can take a deeper look at the product behind clear plexiglass boxes.

There is an impressive amount of Tamagotchi Original shells on display, and even older shells we have seen on retail shelves in a long time! We noticed that they even had the purple and pink shell which is one of our favorites. You’ll also see the convention exclusive Tamagotchi Originals here, which is incredible since you’re only able to purchase them at select events including Comic-Con.

Then there is a nice display of Tamagotchi Uni, which is where you’ll see the current lineup, and pretty soon even more! It is important to note that they did have the midnight bands in stock too. Lastly there is a comprehensive section of collaboration Tamagotchi Nanos. You name it, they have Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, TinyTAN, Star Wars, Grogu, and many more. Oh yea, they even have the Hug My Tamagotchi sets! How awesome? We we’re in LOVE!

We even got to speak with Asaki Murakami, who works on the Tamagotchi Product Development team at Bandai Namco US. She answered all of our Tamagotchi questions, and we learned so much from her! Asaki is extremely knowledgeable, and she was incredibly friendly. In fact at the event before checking-in, Asaki saw us and immediately asked if we were Tama-Palace before introducing herself. Now that is VIP service!

We also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony where representatives from Bandai Namco cut the ribbon to open the store with the American Dream mall representatives. The American Dream mall team is super excited about this new store! PAC-MAN was also in front of the store dancing around and selecting their 50th anniversary. We must say the line was rather large, and it was consistent all afternoon! Bandai Namco store staff members were giving our free merchandise to those who were waiting in line for general entry.

Lastly, we were able to formerly meet both David Edmundson, Marketing Director at Bandai Namco US, and Justin Lavender, Senior Marketing Manager at Bandai Namco US. You may know them from various events and the Bandai Hangout streams on YouTube. They were really excited to see the Tamagotchi presence at the event and have some awesome ideas for future collaboration, more to come!

Overall the new Bandai Namco store at the American Dream Mall is a huge milestone for Bandai Namco US, and the store is gorgeous! It’s incredible to see such a Tamagotchi selection readily available for purchase on shells here in the United States. We highly suggest checking the store out!
