I was thinking it would be rad to win a lot of these, or have the winners come together to build a structure. My brain was non specific but a library would be very cool.
Campaign to make The God of Arepo an award winning work and win a literal brick as a trophy for the authors and for Tumblr community as a whole
Tumblr media
As the artist for one of The God of Arepo comics, my version is up for consideration for the Ignatz Awards for Outstanding Online Comic.
Tumblr media
For those of you who don't know the Ignatz is one of the highest industry awards that "recognize outstanding achievements in comics and cartooning by small press creators or creator-owned projects published by larger publishers".
The thing is, winning the award means winning an actual literal brick. Because the mascot is a brick-throwing mouse. So they have to make a bit where the trophy is a brick. Like. Look.
Tumblr media
For a long time I thought it was just plain bricks they were handing out, but my friend who won a couple of bricks two years ago had theirs stamped (I saw the bricks in person at their house). So now I am obsessed with the idea of The God of Arepo winning an Ignatz trophy. It will have the honours stamped. On a freaking brick. That's the most Tumblr level meme trophy this comic/story could win (which is also a legit high honour industry award on its own btw don't get me wrong). But wilder than that, the brick allows me to do something. It allows me to smash that break into 5 pieces and ship one of each to the authors plus myself. Writing Prompts, sadoeuphemist, ciiriianan, stu-pot and me will get a piece of clay in recognition for our work with the farmer who built a temple out of stone. The full circle moment.
Tumblr media
Imagine the value of this win to the lore of this Tumblr sacred text/folklore. This brick will be smashed and given to the creators, but as a collective folklore, it's also dedicated to all of us on this hellsite too. AWARD WINNING. If The God of Arepo wins I will document the entire process of smashing that brick here.
But we have to make this happen. We need to gather our collective energy and make this campaign work. Please help make The God of Arepo an award-winning story and vote for it in the Outstanding Online Comic category (link). You will need to request a ballot, then submit your vote. I recommend checking out the other nominated comics too. The Ignatz really shortlists good stuff. The voting closes September 8 2023 . LET'S GET THE GOD OF AREPO A BRICK FOR HIS TEMPLE!! LET'S GO!!!! REBLOGS HELP TOO!!

That's a really good breakdown.
Something about how Jason Todd’s core character trait is how he lost faith. He lost faith in Shiela, in Bruce, in the entire concept that someone else can care about him and actually have his best interests at heart.
Something about how Catholic priest Flashpoint Jason Todd is someone who has such intense faith, who trust so heavily in someone basically unprovable. Something about how without Bruce, without being Robin, it was his faith that was his core character trait.
Something about how being Robin and the life he was led into changed him in such a tragic and deep seeded way. I don’t know

losing my mind, back at dragoncon 2018 they asked the actor for Technical Boy (Bruce Langley) what he thought media would look like in the next 20 years. and he said something to the effect of people being able to personalise and customise their experiences with new technologies like VR or something. Which sounds cool and all until you realise 5 years later that actors and writers (and whole production teams) are at risk of losing their jobs to AI.
And one of the things AI preachers talk about is being able to use AI to generate a custom movie or show, on demand. Talk about predicting your own demise. EDIT: I got ahead of myself, the actor for Thoth (Demore Barnes) added onto that point. Saying Media would become "decentralised" in that social media would take part in the "narrative". "Where they monetise us" Yikes my guys.😬 the interview

Sometimes the best things are the things we don't even realize!
youtube
So I was watching this old video again because the new Good Omens season triggered my obsession with Neil Gaiman's stories that creeps up periodically ( and his voice is soothing to listen to while I draw) And at about 1:25:30 there's a part that really made me giggle, cause this is what he says when asked about themes in his work:
"I remember once somebody asked me about the kiss that would occur in my books three quarters of the way through, to indicate that we were now moving into act three. And I said 'what'. And they said 'well you must be conscious of it, you do it every time.'"
And I mean...

I like bioluminescent things! Does this mean they'd function as a night light, that would be really sweet, or hell, could also be hell if you're a dark room only kinda sleeper. Well you could get a mask, that would be sweet!
nothing that says a boy can't be bioluminescent

Flower Language
Back when there were rising concerns about the future of internet access, I adopted the habit of copying down personal references from my online resources into word files. Actually practical anyway in case of travel, weak internet or those sites just don’t exist anymore, which actually did happen to me twice not long after I started this habit. (If you want to do the same I did, copypasting to Discord and copypasting from there prevents the font/size/etc. from copying over to your word program.)
With that said, here’s my own flower language masterpost, cross-referenced between allflorists.co.uk, magic-spells-and-potions.com and thelanguageofflowers.com.
Complete list flower language below the cut. Will edit as I add more or fix mistakes.

We would have found evidence of a Bigfoot already if they existed
Ummm….. Actually
It took almost fifty years to find the first mountain gorilla after the first lowland gorillas were found.
It took over 60 years to capture the first live giant pandas after scientists actually believed the giant pandas existed.
Since the modern era of “Bigfoot” research began in 1958, we really are just at the beginning of our searching for them.
Porcupines and rodents eat the bones of dead animals. And most dying animals hide themselves in caves, and other quiet places when they feel close to death, so we wouldn’t find their bones.

Teach boys about periods
My mother also talked about periods to my brothers.
When I first got mine I had terrible cramps. Crippling cramps. I once was camping with my family and a few of my big brother’s friends when my period came. My cramps were so bad that my mom gave me a full pain killer ( I was 13 and before that she only gave me pills cut in half).
I literally laid down on my parents’ air mattress and cried in pain for an hour before the pill kicked in.
My brothers friend came in to the big tent and I was just curled up and sobbing. Now, I was quite the tomboy and was known to rough house with my brothers and their friends and made sure I wasnt seen as just “a little girl.” So my brother’s friend was confused to see me openly weeping in the fetal position (seriously, these were the worst cramps I have had in my life. My vision went white). He asked what was wrong with me.
My big brother stood up immediately and suggested a nice long hike. During this hike I am sure he had a pretty awkward conversation with his friend explaining menstrual cramps, because when they got back the pain pill had (mostly) kicked in and I was sitting up at a table when my brother’s friend sheepishly asked me if I was feeling better. I said I was better, and he said good.
When we made s'mores that night my brother and his friend kept me well supplied with chocolate.
Making sure sons know as much about periods and menstruation as daughters makes them better brothers, better sons better fathers, and better men. A man that understands a period will not lightly accuse a woman of “being on her period” if the woman is in an argument.
Raise better sons Teach them about normal bodily functions.

one of the most fucked up things about the internet is how it has given us so many new ways to self harm that we don’t even realize is self harm. it’s something i’ve seen getting addressed little by little recently, as it’s finally being recognized for what it is.
it’s the kind of addictive behaviour we engage in that doesn’t actually benefit us in any way, such as:
- Reading The Comments
- ruthless discourse that won’t accomplish anything
- checking up on people and topics you shouldn’t
- 90% of body image stuff
- constant stream of devastating news
and so on, and so on!!
there are suddenly far less barriers and boundaries between our hearts and the entire rest of the constant, churning world, and sometimes the only thing holding us back from pointless hurt is our own willpower. that’s not always gonna be enough.
we feel shame for turning off anon, for blocking those who hurt us without giving them a “fair chance” first, for leaving a discussion, for leaving a space, for going offline, for missing out. we keep martyring ourselves, and for what? our hearts are not made for this.
we’re still adapting to whatever internet culture is and does to us. remember to breathe and forgive yourself every once in a while.
