Rumours say that a theif removed the buddas head away from the main temple of Wat Mahathat #Ayutthaya and burried it far beneath the ground, it couldn't possibly be moved and was left abandoned still in the ground. The strong roots of the tree grew around it and lifted the buddas head back up above the ground and it is still growing.
