hey, guys --- i’m sorry to say this, but i’m likely gonna be shutting this blog down. i adore charon, but i’ve got my hands full with uni and work and the blogs i already have. plus, i do sort of feel as though i’ve never quite gotten what i was hoping for out of this blog. the only threads i end up doing are plots about characters patting themselves on the back for freeing charon from his contract, and i’ve gotten tired of doing the same thread over and over again. so --- i’m gonna focus on my other blogs. thank you to everyone who welcomed me here, and i’m so sorry to abandon the blog like this!! you can find me on my fallout ghoul oc, @gahoual, or you can find me on my classic lit blogs, both of whom do have fallout verses available: i’ve got dr. jekyll at @vicemirrored and frankenstein’s creature at @anabioun.

so, uh!! guys, as much as i love charon’s character, i... feel very little drive to come here, because i’m feeling like there’s a bit of a standstill with plots and threads. every plot people want to do is just ‘my character frees charon from the contract,’ and while i definitely love that general plotline and i do want him to be freed, i’m... really, really tired of doing nothing else in threads except for that or first meeting threads while he’s still with ahzrukhal. i’ve had this issue with another character of mine, where there was only one sort of plot people ever wanted to do, and it completely kills my desire to rp a muse when that happens. i know i share part of the blame, since i should come up with better plots if i don’t like what people are pitching to me, but... i dunno. i just feel like i’ve stagnated with charon. i don’t want to abandon him, but i don’t know how to keep things interesting instead of just doing the same plot over and over and over again. 

so, i guess... if anyone does have a plot they’d like to do, come to me, and let’s discuss it. i really, really wanna get excited about this muse again. if you’ve got an idea, now’s the time!!

“Hello! I was told this is where I can hire a helper for my adventures in the Commonwealth? A bodyguard of sorts?” 

Pendleton had trucked up to the ghoul with a smile on his face and a bag of caps in hand. The fact he was built to fight and had a power fist on his hip could be the source of some confusion- but the sheltered look that came with clean skin and pearly white teeth could just as easily dissuade that. 

“How much is it to hire you long-term? A percentage of loot, or a flat fee..?”

without speaking, charon turned his head to face pendleton and eyed the man slowly up and down. the powerful build and the melee weapon hinted that he could handle himself well enough without a bodyguard, but nobody kept clean skin and white teeth for very long in the wasteland without some help. 

“ ---flat fee. five hundred caps. ”

i’m gonna be in and out today because of christmas eve, of course, but!! i kinda wanna plot shit with my fallout 4 au, after charon’s been released from the contract. threads have been feeling a bit stale lately --- in the fallout 3 verse, there are only so many options for ways to go, and i’ve been getting a bit antsy. i’d like to plot new things, and the fallout 4 au gives us more room for that. so, if any mutuals wanna plot, please come hmu!!

⇻ ♛ ― ❝ i live in the commonwealth― boston. it’s not too far away, at least the journey wasn’t too bad so it won’t be that far from home. ❞ would have been easier with a car. the super mutants had been the only real problem and even with them river was always far more afraid of the ferals. ❝ i’m with the minutemen. we’re not very known, we were dying off. not easy to come back from that, but ya’ do what ya’ can. you’d be helpin’ us out if you’re up for that? ❞

the commonwealth. it wasn’t as familiar to him as the capital wasteland, but ahzrukhal had sent him to the boston area once or twice on errands. it was no more than a week’s travel away, in present company. without a change in his expression, charon flexed his shoulders in a shrug. “ you are my employer. i will go where you direct me and do as you command --- if it is your order to help these minutemen, i cannot disobey. ”

⇻ ♛ ― she began nervously fumbling with the trim of her petticoat, her voice shaking slightly as she muttered an okay. river nodded frantically, choosing to just trust his judgement. the man had been in underworld far longer than she had even been in dc, she wouldn’t have exactly known and she understood that. a small hand gestured to the door way and she smiled slightly, ❝ uh… ‘ever leave dc before? ❞ 

“ of course. ” he hadn’t always lived in underworld, despite how well he seemed to know the place. he had only been under ahzrukhal’s employ for about twenty years; before that, he’d been employed --- or rather, owned --- by someone else, outside of the capital wasteland, and before that, he’s lived even further away. DC was no more of a homeland to him than anywhere else had been. “ where do you wish to go? ”

⇻ ♛ ― her eyes widened, the sight of his remains running cold within her blood. sure, the guy was disgusting, but even river hadn’t thought that he deserved to be killed right on the spot. she looked to charon and gestured to the mess, ❝ what the hell was that? ya’ just… murdered someone. ❞ she stumbled back a bit in an attempt to create some distance between the two, ❝ you’re not gonna do that to me are ya’? ‘cause i really don’t think i’m in the mood to eat lead. ❞ 

“ ahzrukhal was an evil bastard. ” he said no more than that. to the people of underworld, and to charon in particular, ahzrukhal had been an outright monster. charon didn’t want to go any deeper into the matter than that. “ are you prepared to leave, or are you not? ”

⇻ ♛ ― ｢ ❝ Do what ya’ want, the time is your own now you’re a free man. I’ll be here when ya’ return. ❞ ｣ She was clueless. River hadn’t thought of revenge as one of Charon’s options, instead she expected him to grab a few things before heading out. She smiled happily and placed her hat back atop her head.  ｢ ❝ Please be a dear and give that atrocious ex boss of yours my regards. If ya’ do choose to stick with me we won’t be returning anytime soon. ❞ ｣ She couldn’t stand the sight of him counting her caps.

charon almost smiled. giving ahzrukhal river’s regards was exactly what he planned to do, although perhaps not in the way she was thinking. without a word to either his new boss or his former one, he approached ahzrukhal, drew his gun off his back, and pumped two shots into ahzrukhal’s head. once the ghoul’s skull and brains had been thoroughly reduced to a red paste on the bar, charon, satisfied, turned back to river and holstered his gun once more. 

      “ are you ready to leave? ”

“Bullets?” Pendleton checked his pip boy, before patting himself down and finding the blood that was actually his own.

“Oh– but that’s normal! I take this sort of damage all the time, just gotta pop a stimpack and I’ll be right as rain!” Even in saying that, Pendleton sat himself down. 

“I can still use my power fist, I can still walk and see, so it isn’t a dire concern..” 

the withering look charon gave pendleton didn’t exactly leave much room for further argument. from experience, he knew that stimpacks would close wounds, but not push out bullets; if pendleton administered one now, all it would do would be to shut the holes themselves around the bullets, which would leave the man with a shoulder full of metal. in worst case scenarios, that would do well enough, but it wasn’t the best course of action. 

“ sit still. if you have a first aid kit, take it out. i need forceps. ”

here’s the new kitten!! my parents ended up naming her ada, after ada lovelace (because my dad’s a big computer nerd). she’s kinda tuckered herself out after all that running around.

ANYWAY. apologies for the ranting!! on a lighter note, my parents got a kitten today, so that’s super, super exciting. my mum’s old cat passed away a few months ago and she really wanted to get a kitten while i’m here visiting for christmas, and things worked out!! the little girlie is a bit too excited right now for me to get a good picture of her, but she’s a tiny, two-month-old grey tabby. my parents haven’t decided on a name for her yet, but we’ll see. i’ll try to post a pic tonight if she ever stays still long enough.

sorry i’m like… a really big and really long time fallout fan and while fo3/fo4 aren’t perfect i still like them!! i love the series and the gatekeeping in the fandom makes me really bitter.

no need to apologise!! i feel you. and i do recognise that fo3 and fo4 aren’t perfect, and parts of their storytelling leave a lot to be desired. i’m not one of those people who’s gonna scream that their faves have No Flaws Ever. i just... don’t think that should mean that people are stupid or bad if they enjoy those games as much or more than new vegas.

i make jokes on occasion askjfhskd BUT yeah i don’t see anything wrong with liking the other games. like there’s 0 reason to have Real beef over fo3 and fo4. there’s no correct way to enjoy the fallout series.

yeah, i feel you. tbh, the jokes do make me feel kinda crappy on occasion, but i do know that they’re just in jest. it’s the people who get really vicious about it (mostly dudebros on facebook) and outright tell people they’re stupid or wrong for enjoying the other games.
