Wolf anatomy~
Learn something knew! I know I've tried to draw a wolf like thing and I was close on some parts and off on others. I also see wolf furries that may have little to no resemblance to a wolf. A lot of people do a good job and a few may need a guide XD. In general people can do them really well. Lets get started. External/development: So people ask, "are wolves and dogs the same?". The answer is no, most people get that. The thing is practically no one can give the why. Then you may question yourself again. Wolves and dogs are similar in body characteristics and many have theories that dogs were demesticated wolves, which with what we know seems plausible. Wolves are usually bigger to dogs. Female wolves are usually smaller than males. Their bone structure is about the sane, they both have 42 teeth. So if they have so many similarities what separates them? The main reason that wolves and dogs are seperated other than minor physical features is that it is a lot harder to demesticate a wolf vs a dog and its about impossible. What causes a wolf to not like humans and a dog to easily adjust to them? This is due to the critical first 4 weeks of their life that heavally influences how they act. So if you just take wolf pups and raise them your fine? Not exactly. What happens is both a dogs and wolves develop their trust by familiarity in the first 4 weeks if their life, the diffrence is when they develop all their senses. Dogs develop their senses of sight and sound at 2 weeks making them be easily used to humans and recognize humans easily and feel comfortable. Wolves on the other paw have their sight and sound development comes at 4 weeks tirwards the end of their familiarity window. Its shown that since wolves don't have the same development at that they have trouble adapting to humans. The same amount of progress with familiarity of dogs and human in 1 hour takes a wolf nearly 24 hours for the same result. That is why wolves are carful and cautious around evrething also as they gained familiarity with very little in their development time. They adapt to others of the same species better as they smell familiar and obviously are way more similar than humans. Wolves have thinner body shape, but all the space is filled with muscles. Wolves are very strong and are considered one of the most menuverable animals around. wolves can go faster, but in general wolves can hold the pace of 25-35 kph for about 3 kilometers wherevthen they usually rest. They usually walk between 50-190 km per day. It is a pretty known fact that wolves urinate on areas to mark their territory. Wolves thin but strong body helps them be able to move at very fast maximum speeds. They achieve this by having a flexible spine and they push forward with their front paws and step in close to the same place with their back paws. This lets them to blast forward and leaves a interesting print showing their back and front paws next to eachother. Wolves walk/run on their toes and not their full sole. They have 5 toes on their front paws but 4 on their back paws. They have larger paws to leg ratio in order for places with mud or snow. Unlike us wolves don't really sink in leaving very light imprints usually. Wolves have a busy tail and their larger head and paw maked them look thinner in proportion. They have many glands on their body to emit smells that other wolves can use to find the wolves and also tell the wolves health condition and feelings/emotions. Wolves usually have a range of eye colors. One of the wolves eye color that is rare is blue. The reason is usually wolves like that are not actually fully wolf and their parents bred with another species to aquire that trait, for example a wolfxshepard. Like most animals on 4 legs, a wolf has 2 forward bending knees on the front and 2 backbending knees on the back legs. Usually a wolf does 20 minutes of walking and/or hunting then 15 minutes of sleeping/resting in an alternating cycle. Wolves are actually afraid of people from being hunted, wolves rarely kill people. If they do 90% of the time they hadrabies and the rest of the times its self defence from someone being stupid or its on a child as they are smaller and left alone making them an easy target. Their pelt is thick and has an oil on it that makes them more water proof. They also have a good amount of fur, the tone of a wolfs fur us little in the summer and darker in the winter, no cases of an albino wolf has been found. The wolfs top of the mouth has 42 teeth, the main front one is use to hold onto prey with little effort and the molars in the back is for breaking bone and grinding meat to be consumed. The wolves tung is strong and has a texture to clean oneself and to be able to pull meat of animals bones. A the only place where pores release water on the body is the nose, wolves don't "sweat" anywhere else. Scientists are still deciding if wolves can see only 2 colors or all three, they are near sighted, as they don't have the things in the back of their eye to concentrate like we do. They are very good at detecting even the slightest movements though. Their hearing is very good, they can hear sounds for miles. Unlike some dogs, wolves cant retrack their claws Internal: The back of a wolfs mouth the tung is very thick, it can go thinner and further out for getting water and licking in general. Wolves muscles help them do huge bounds to catch prey, they also help hold in their internal organs The digestive system is pretty normal, chew down, swallow a bolus and digest to absorb in the body during the small intestyn phase when the food is chym. Interesting facts: Wolves unique sounds come from the fact that they push air through a part of the throat the blocks food from going into the esophagus. This then vibrats their vocal chords which then allows them to do things like howl, growl, etc. In order for a wolf pup to urinate, the mother has to message their belly with her tung. Wolves don't make good gaurd dogs if you tame one as they are more likely to run from the unfamiliar threat rather then bark at it. Wolf pups usually start blue then turn something like yellow when they get older. Wolves have very strong jaws as they can apply the crushing force of 1, 500 pounds per square inch. Ouch! In the 1600's the gray wolf population was estimated 2 million in north america. It is now 65,000 north America and 150, 000 world wide. Wolves can eat 20 pounds of meat if hungry which for people would be about 100 hamburgers! A wolf can swim up to 8 miles due to having webbing betweens their paws. Adolph hitlers first name literally means "lead wolf" Scientists argue using "alpha" or "omega" wolf is not right as all that is different for the leaders is that they produce the offspring. Wolves are one of the few animals that have distinct facial expressions to communicate with their pack. Dire wolves, now extinct used to hunt things as big as wooly mamoths A male and female that mate usually keep their family ties with each other for the rest of their life. Spider anatomy~
Hello, I'm learning something new evreyday, I thought it is about time I actually share what I learn! Today I learned about spiders, well specifically their physical atonamy, which I personally found interesting. External: 1st spiders are separated for some key reasons, the biggest one being that they have no antenna. Spiders have in general 8 legs and all spiders can produce silk. Almost all spiders only have 2 body segments and can have 6 or 8 eyes. They also have a exoskeleton and feelers, also claws for grip. Spiders have a type of oil for being able to not stick to their web. Some spiders use their silk for webs, others use it to cover themselves from being seen. Spiders that use webs usually have poor sight, they rely on their sensitive hairs on a part extending from their mouth to detect movement. When they do they burst into action wrapping and biting their prey. There are many types of webs they make, 1 kind is the Web we see as the "standard" Web being spaced out all the way around from a center. Another Web type is usually a type that is huge and obvious, they help move some predators away while still being not noticeable to a fly or something that small as much. Another Web type is like a sheet Web, there is usually multiple sheets of Web the spider can go up or down to, the direction can vary. The last Web I found interesting, it is a funnel Web, basicly a Web is made that the spider hides in to avoid predators, and wait for something to land on it. There are spiders that don't build webs, some sit and pop out to grab their prey. They usually lurk in flowers or holes depending the spider, they may also end up in your shoes if you haven't worn them for a while. The other kind Is a more aggressive type of spider, their sight is usually a lot better then others as they sit in usually hole and watch for prey. They then go on a pursuit to catch it. Some these spiders can jump 50x their length. Internal: Spiders have a pretty interesting internal body. On top of having an exoskeleton, they also have an endoskeleton. Spiders have a heart containing only one chamber, it's about the size of 1/5 of the spiders abdomen. Don't really move with muscles like we would, instead the body and legs move using hydrolics (use of water pressure to move something in this case). That is how a hunter spider can jump so far as they sharply increase their blood pressure to quickly push off of the ground. Some spiders have lungs others dont. Either way spiders breath through their abdomen. If they do have lungs they breath and have it process through the body and heart and through the body. For the spiders that don't how do they do it? The point of breathing In oxygen it to send it to your body's organs to function, with these spiders they don't need to worry about that if they breath in oxygen directly into their muscles and organs, this also make the heart more efficient as it has one huge task less to do. Thus making hunting easier. Most spiders can't have any solid food, the point of venom is used to melt the insides of the prey so they can drink it. Their mouth is further back In the spiders body, as there is other mouth parts to help guide the liquid into the mouth. Some spiders have stronger stomachs and can handle having a bit more solid matter. They usually still have venom, even if it may not be as strong, but they have grinders infront of their mouth they insert to help shred up their food so they can eat it. This method also usually leaves some parts of the prey that the spider can eat. Spiders don't do Intercourse like most animals, even though they do sexual reproduction (meaning they need to parents for offspring). Instead the mail raps the sperms in some Web and transfers it to the female. Interesting facts: There Is one spider that is a herbavore, meaning they eat plants, called the Bagheera Kiplingi found in central America. Spiders aren't super aggressive usually to each other, usually the male made to sudden of a move making the female think him as prey. Spiders have 8 legs in 4 pairs, the spider for balance when walking always has four legs up and 4 legs on the ground.
