Mountain Dew and a splitting headache. Concerned onlookers in the auditorium. No. No, that’s not right. It was the mall, wasn’t it? A smug look from Jake about… some last laugh he got. Jeremy’s seen that look all too often. And he’s pretty sure it’s from everyone now. It could have been over anything. Walking wrong. Standing wrong? Was there something on his shirt? Forget the stripes. People like Eminem, right? Maybe not, Brooke didn’t. But she’s holding Jeremy’s hand now. Which is good. Nevermind the shirt. And nevermind Jeremy’s old life. Not much worth bringing into the new one. It was great! He was happy for once! Brooke at his hip on dates, at parties, where at one he’d led to a dark room. But why is Chloe pinning him down? And why is Jake banging on the door, screaming that Jeremy’s about to get his ass beat? And why is Michael yelling now? Things are better. It’s not a big deal. Loser. Things can be better for you too, just so you know. Rich might have had a hand in making sure of that. For the school, for the cast of the play, and… Christine? What’s going on? Jeremy wanted Christine– why was he always with Brooke? Then Chloe, and… this doesn’t involve the school. Stop. Stop! Michael. That Mountain Dew, that… that smug look from Jake? It was the auditorium, Jeremy was right the first time. Mountain Dew. A splitting headache.

Antiseptic. Beeping. Crying. Crying? Michael never cried.
