I absolutely adore how this new arc was clearly tailored to put Sebastian to the test. EVERYTHING in the hotel is there to antagonise him in his role as One Hell of a Butler.

The staff? Oh you mean the EXPERTS in tending to the clientele? The ones that are FAR SUPERIOR to a mere servant? Sebastian twitched

But surely even these experts will have their limits, after all they're just humans, unlike Sebastian, right? Well...

Apparently not, the human ability to invent new things to improve our lives got him good.

But not only does the Hotel come for his superior set of skills, it also tries to undermine his pure and pristine "aesthetic as a butler".

A semi suite? For the staff??

His beloved job slandered and filed away as "an inconvenience"??? Preposterous!

And not only is he tested and mocked by the staff at the Hotel, but his very own master decides he couldn't possibly miss this tasty opportunity at rubbing salt in what he knows is an open wound to him. We all know Ciel never fails to tease and wishes to see his perfect butler fail in something just for the heck of it!

The whole situation is putting him under so much stress that he slips up, his eyes change and he himself proposes to just be done with this place already-

And look how disappointed he is in learning that no, they can't simply main and kill and destroy the place, which is extremely funny but let's take a step back for a second and remind ourselves of the fact that Sebastian has always acted as a voice of reason to Ciel

He reminded him that burning the house down and killing all the trapped children was NOT part of their orders from the Queen. He tells the audience that he has no interest in acting like a beast because what he loves is playing his role as Ciel's butler.

Of course he ultimately executes all of his master's orders, but he never proposed a violent course of action himself. This is huge. This Hotel truly pissed him off and quite literally made him see red. All other narrative arcs focused on Ciel but this?

This is personal to Sebastian and it's only getting started.

Me parece curioso que no se hable de un sentido romantico al hablar del gusto de Sebastian pero si consideramos que el amor es ver algo en el otro que atrae y lleva a querer que ese otro reconozca la presencia de uno, entonces Sebastian de cierta manera ama Ciel, mira si no como se desanima de tener que buscar pistas el solo

Title: Sebastian’s favourite type

While I was drawing this month’s chapter, my assistant asked me “What is Sebastian’s (ideal) type?” [regarding age, gender, outward appearance, etc.]?,” and I answered “Putting aside whether he himself likes it or not, I guess if it’s an order, he doesn’t have any no gos regarding outward appearance and age.” Hearing that, my assistant seemed very dissatisfied [with my answer].

I think Sebastian prefers a specific outward appearance, no matter if it’s a man or woman. And as for his current contractor, Sebastian does exceed a “butler’s” usual area of responsibilities quite a bit and always makes sure that he [*Ciel] looks neat. Maybe he thinks something like “If I have to accompany a human being anyway, it should be someone beautiful”. It’s actually a matter of my [the author’s] preferred art style, though.

He has been taking care of everything revolving around his current contractor, from health to hair, so the way Ciel looks naturally reflects Sebastian’s taste. In addition to this, he also strictly follows the rules as to ‘how a noble should look like’, which can be seen when it comes to the colours he chooses for his master’s clothings, for example. I think Sebastian himself actually doesn’t dislike the colour red.

If Ciel were a girl, Sebastian, as a butler, would lace her corset tight every day and re-tighten it every few hours, have her change her dress twice a day, arrange for a special hair care, have her take dance, piano and embroidery lessons every day and have her wear gloves at night while sleeping. He would strictly follow the rules as to how a lady should be like. And if someone praised her, he would look smug, just like you feel satisfied when someone praises the doll you dressed and put make up on by yourself.

That being said, I’ve actually neither really thought deeply about his favourite type nor about what ‘he would be okay with’… (lol) People sometimes ask me this question in fan letters but I think the most important thing for Sebastian is the taste of the soul!! As for his current contractor, Sebastian tries to manipulate his soul in order to make it a delicacy, something he has never eaten before. So his favourite type doesn’t actually matter. Maybe every soul has its own taste and quality, but as for the young master in the manga, I’ve never really thought about his soul’s taste in depth. In the anime (season 1 and 2), his soul seems to have been a high quality one right from the moment Ciel and Sebastian made the contract. As for this particular question [whether Ciel’s soul is high quality or not], the anime version might have been easier to understand [than the manga].

i don't think people understand how hard it is not to ship tomarry / harrymort because what do you mean they're borderline canonically soulmates. what do you mean they're PROPHESIED to each other. what do you mean they're literal parallels, had the same childhood circumstances but turned out the exact opposite. what do you mean harry's the embodiment of the light side and tom's the embodiment of the dark even though they're so, so similar. what do you mean they both have common names even though they themselves are anything but common. what do you mean they have uncountable amount of bible references that apply strictly to them, what do you mean harry makes sure to mention tom's the handsomest in the room whenever he sees him and apparently likes their connection. what do you mean their wands share the core of the same phoenix and therefore literally can't kill each other even if they wanted to. what do you mean harry wanted to give him another chance despite everything he's done, what do you mean tom offered him his hand, what do you mean harry killed tom at the same age except the order of the numbers is reversed. what do you mean harry's eyes are the same colour as tom's favourite unforgivable (avada) AND the colour of his house, what do you mean TOM'S eyes are the colour of harry's favourite defence spell (expelliarmus) and the colour of his house. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE EACH OTHER'S OTHER HALF. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HARRY IS LITERALLY TOM'S SOUL??? 😭

NOT TO MENTION THESE THINGS AREN'T EVEN FANON LIKE...? lmk if i missed something though.
