                            “  oh  really  ?  ”  she  questions  with  a  dry  laugh  though  the  change  in  his  timbre  has  her  usual  contemptuous  behaviour  soften  ──  well  as  much  as  she  could  .  it’s  not  like  she  couldn’t  relate  ,  though  the  surname  charming  certainly  held  a  more  prestigious  title  than  hers  ,   her  own  father’s  expectations  always  just  out  of  her  reach  .  “  it’s  practically  ingrained  in  your  dna  .  let  me  guess  ,  you  didn’t  hold  the  door  for  the  elderly ?  ”
