“of course. i hear everything you say, babe.” he smiled proudly as her lips pressed against his cheek. he shot a glance at andrew as lydia accepted the chocolate. he felt bad that he had bought all the flowers before the other had gotten there but that wasn’t his fault. he had no idea andrew was even going to be there but even if he did, aiden wasn’t convinced that he wouldn’t have done the same thing. following lydia inside, he watched with a huge grin on his face as she walked off into the kitchen. with all his feelings out in the open, there was no point containing them now. “i’m good with anything.” he turned to the other male, his eyes waiting for him to put in a word. 

andrew couldn’t help but roll his eyes at aiden’s try-hard attitude. this wasn’t kindergarten. he felt a pang of jealousy as she kissed aiden’s cheek, sighing as he handed over his box of chocolates. “we wanted to.” he mentioned as he walked inside. the way he looked at lydia matched aiden’s though it wasn’t as obvious. that was the difference between them. aiden was more open with his feelings while andrew had trouble expressing them. his mind ran through all the possibilities of the night with all the activities that lydia had planned. it was going to be one eventful night with the three of them. hopefully that would help him loosen up. “well, i love anything with drinking involved. so i say, drinking card games?” 

no matter what pedestal the two males have placed lydia on, her flaws weren’t hard to figure out. lydia was selfish ---- she’s always been the type of girl to want everything even when it’s nearly impossible to achieve. nevertheless, lydia’s capability to get the things she wants can sometimes surprise people. when it comes to their trio relationship, lydia knew it was going to be a challenge to work out things with the two boys. she believes that she can turn this competition to a comprise, one where both boys can not only be happy with her, but with each other. i mean, they were best friends first, how hard could it be ? lydia grabbed the bottle hastily, finding the drinking game to be much more interesting than the latter, “atta boy ! andrew always knows how to pick them,” she winked at him, opening the top as it started fizzling out immediately. she took the first swig before turning to aiden, “you in, aiden ? or are you too chicken to handle a little liquor, hm ? ” she raised her eyebrows, shaking the bottle teasingly at his direction, “the game is pretty simple. it’s called drinkopoly -- you pick up a card from three categories; funny, sexy, or truth. each card has a certain task or dare that you must do proceed further. the more cards you complete, the more ahead you are. if you decided to not do the task, you must drink an entire cup of alcohol. fair ? who wants to go first ? ” lydia knew this could scream trouble, but what’s fun without a little trouble ?

you guys try way too fucking hard to be hipster and it gets annoying. you’re also the most extra sign like jesus christ, chill out? no one gives a fuck. and for some reason, you have this desperate need to be liked and have a giant group of friends just like every other air sign out there. but for some reason, you demand respect from people and think everything you say is Just and Accurate like bitch sit down?? you ain’t a leo so stop this foolishness. oh and you guys just looove picking at all your imperfections until it drives you absolutely insane like why do you love hurting yourself?? oh and when it comes to love?? lmao nah.. you guys love being chased but you also hate letting others get too close and you push everyone away when it gets serious. you guys are the type to fall in love with your best friend but by the time you fall in love, your bff already married with three kids because you’re so fucking slow. also, you’re just like libras because you want everyone to like you but you don’t want to return the feelings. you also probably shopped at hot topic in high school and had coloured hair at one point.

the second she saw charlie’s face something inside of her cracked. the wall she had been trying to put up began to fall down, tears welling out of her eyes uncontrollably. it was exactly what she didn’t want. laine was strong, independent. she’d always taken care of herself. but now ? now the simple act of standing was a challenge. the girl wanted nothing more to fall to her feet, drop everything and let all the sadness and anger she was feeling take over. wiping at her eyes, laine held back her sobs. “ he was supposed to pick me up this morning … apologize for not being at my speech last week. but he never showed. ” laine had won a contest at her college, something she’d worked hard on for months. and while mason was her boyfriend, she’d expected him to show. but relationships weren’t always easy. and mason had sworn he’d missed it for some unexplained important reason. now, she wondered if he was just lying after all. not that she would mention it to charlie, he’d take masons side in a H E A R T B E A T. best friends did that for each other. placing a hand on charlie’s shoulder, she balanced herself steadily. she didn’t want to fall to the ground in front of all these people. she didn’t want to look weak. “ i got a weird call last night. i thought it was you and mason doing some stupid prank but … now i’m not sure. it was a gravely voice asking me what my favorite scary movie was. and when i didn’t answer, it got mad. like R E A L L Y mad. and threatened me. ” she leaned her head close, not wanting anyone to be able to pick up on their conversation. she wasn’t about to trust just anyone with this information. charlie … she knew she could trust charlie. he’d never given her a reason not to.

charlie usually knew the right words to say in dire situations like these. something empathetic enough that’s able to connect with the individual, but not too insensitive where they might take offence. however, this is the first time he’s left in utter disbelief. maybe because he’d never imagine himself being in this side of the table. charlie’s life wasn’t perfect, far from it, but death never came across as a possible worry either. hearing laine’s explanation, a few weeks ago, he’d probably believe she was acting crazy or getting him back from previous pranks, now -- he’s not really sure what to believe, “i ---- fuck, you’re kidding ? ” something about her story seemed vaguely familiar, but charlie couldn’t put his finger on it. he was a realistic guy, always believed in what’s real and truthful rather than theories or rumors. as a journalist, charlie swore to only accept things if there’s factual proof to back it up. but he couldn’t just tell laine that she was lying, especially not when she’s feeling fully distraught from the news. so for now, he decided to hear her out, “what’s your favorite movie ? what does that have to do with mason though ? i just -- i can’t think of a plausible reason for his disappearance but----” he held onto her tight, in hopes that she doesn’t completely break down. charlie scanned the area, hoping no one followed them or anything, “we didn’t call. fuck, fucking hell -- laine. this can’t be happening right now. this just can’t be happening. what the fuck do we do ? there’s more to this story that the police or news didn’t want to tell us.”
