cassiel had avoided most of their siblings since she’d taken up a position in hell. they knew that were good at their job, they were doing father proud, and that once heaven reigned again, they would be welcomed back to the silver city as a hero. the one who infiltrated hell and helped to take it down. 

cassiel wasn’t expecting samael to be in the room when they wandered in, and it caught them by surprise. they had always looked up to their older siblings, and that’s why it had hurt so much to see him cast from heaven and become who he was now. a part of cassiel knew that samael was capable of so much more than this, and that if he would just talk to his father, that maybe things could be straightened out before anyone had to get hurt. yes. samael would miss his family, but his true family was in the silver city. 

“sam- brother. i haven’t seen you around here much. these halls are so vast sometimes i feel like i’m the only one here.”

                    sansenoy   must   certainly   have   lost   her   mind   alongside   her   halo.   the   wards   outside   her   office   made   it   clear   who   was   hovering   around   her   door   ;   her   magics   could   have   stopped   the   angel   from   thrusting   her   way   in   unannounced.   but   lilith   had   thought   the   creature   would   have   more   DECOURM   than   to   slam   her   way   into   her   new   queen’s   office   without   so   much   as   a   hello.   especially   when   she's   working.   lilith’s   fingers   press   onto   either   side   of   her   nose   ,   rolling   her   eyes.   

                    “   sansenoy   ,   the   palace   kitchens   are   in   place   to   feed   everyone.   ”

                    granted   ,   so   very   few   with   NEED   to   eat   visit   ,   but   she   finds   that   the   freshly   fallen   take   comfort   in   meals.   lilith   knows   of   heaven   only   what   her   informants   provide   ,   but   she   knows   yahweh   would   rarely   ,   if   ever   ,   allow   them   food.   why   ,   if   they   should   not   need   it   ?   there   is   little   thought   given   to   their   PLEASURES   ,   their   comforts.   as   she’s   heard   ,   food   in   heaven   serves   exclusively   to   feed   her   own   creation   ,   the   nephilim   ,   and   through   association   with   them   is   heavily   frowned   upon.   

                    “   would   you   like   a   minifridge   installed   in   your   room   ?   ”

“i put my name on them, lilith. isn’t that the universal symbol for humans when they wish to claim something as their own? maybe something we should be doing down here too ” like when parents adorned children with a name of their choosing upon their birth and then pass down a surname. “i think a minifridge is the only solution to this problem. that or methodical torture, but you seem to have more pressing matters on your mind.” 

“what are you working on?” sansenoy rested her head in her palm and glanced at lilith across the desk. sansenoy knew that tensions between heaven and hell were at an all time high, and the threat against herself and her family had never been more real.

​ there weren’t many people who could go barging into lilith’s office without facing serious repercussions, and sansenoy was one of them. they’d been through so much together, that there were hardly any secrets between the two of them anymore. 

“somebody-” she punctuated with a slam of the door, marching towards liliths desk and throwing herself into the chair seated across from her friends. “-keeps taking my hot pockets. i demand you find out who and punish them.” sansenoy had few pleasures in this world, but her hot pockets were one of them. she’d discovered them not long after she had fallen, and become quite fond of the little savoury snacks.

cassiel spent most of their time in hell just watching. they stayed out of the way, stayed quiet and focused solely on their job. they couldn’t afford to stray from fathers mission, every day tensions between heaven and hell grew, and cassiel knew that sooner rather than later, their plan would come into fruition. their siblings would be back in heaven where they belonged and the family would be back together. maybe father would even show leniency towards lucifer and allow him passage to the silver city after all this time.

their were intricate writing on some of the walls of hell, and although angels knew every human language, this language was born of hell, so it was unknown to her. still, she found herself studying it often, trying to decipher what it might say.
