Dirty computer by Janelle Monae is a perfect album because every song goes like this : "I want to have intense kinky sex with multiple genders (I am queer)" "I love cunnilingus" "the US is built on the suppression of black and queer people, we can never truly be free while living in a system designed entirely on the perpetuation of our oppression" "sex is fucking amazing" *sick bass*

If y'all are wondering why Goncharov is back in the popular consciousness, it's because the original masters have been in a vault for like 30 years because of a copyright battle between two French universities over who got to do the 1996 recolor.
Basically the original team doing the recolor ended up getting split by scabs during a strike, and some weird quirk of their contracts ended up locking the film in red-tape limbo for like three decades bc, you know, it's a Martin Scorsese film and everyone wants to have their paycheck attarched to those royalties.
Turns out part of why the case took so long is that the original team leads were in a polyamorous throuple that branched out through the entire french editing and mastering industry.

Marriage Equality Achieved!
Today, January 23, the marriage equality law officially takes effect. Thailand now recognizes the right of all couples, regardless of gender, to legally register their marriage.
Tumblr media
At 6.15am, the first couple, 33 year old Ploynapas Jirasukon and 32 year old Kwanporn Kongphet arrived, hand in hand, to register their marriage. Together for 17 years since high school, the Bangkok-based couple radiated joy as they became Thailand’s first officially recognised LGBTQ+ married couple.
Ploynapas shared her excitement, “We’re thrilled to be the first couple to register our marriage. It’s a proud moment, but there’s still more to achieve, like equality in child custody and legal titles.”
Tumblr media
Sumalee, 64, and Thanaporn, 59, became the first same-sex couple to register their marriage at Bang Rak today.
Traveling all the way from Phetchabun, they chose Bangkok's "district of love" for this special occasion.
Tumblr media
Permsap and Puangphet, the second couple to register their marriage in Pathumwan District, shared that they had waited 17 years for this moment, calling it a meaningful achievement.
Although they could have registered in Pai, they chose Pathumwan to express pride in exercising the same legal rights as other Thais. They wore traditional Tai Yai attire from Mae Hong Son, reflecting one partner's heritage, to make the occasion special.
They described the milestone as a collective success for the LGBTQ+ community, achieved through shared efforts.
They hoped future legal changes would address honorific titles for transgender individuals, ensuring fairness for all. The couple encouraged others to stay determined in the fight for equality, believing that persistence leads to success. They also urged countries without equal marriage laws to continue advocating for change.
Reflecting on a past accident, they shared the difficulties caused by the lack of legal recognition. Despite being together for eight years at the time, one was unable to sign medical consent due to the law, underscoring the need for equal marriage rights.

I truly enjoy how much Animorphs is like “here are our young heroes, each with a distinctive trope to fill in the group!” And then it makes you watch how the pressure of each person’s role grinds them to dust. And also they have homework.

leia organa truly has one of the best bait-and-switch character introductions of all time because when you meet her she's this brave, stoic picture of elegance and justice and always knows just what to say to vader and tarkin and is clad in white like an angel and is this perfect two-dimensional archetype of pureness of heart. and then approximately half an hour later into the film she meets luke and han and she IMMEDIATELY shows her true colors as a sarcastic, bitchy control freak with a massive impulsive streak and a deep mine of hyperspecific insults. 10/10 character design i'm obsessed with her

TikTok chose to shut down US access both earlier than the federal ban mandated (it would start tomorrow, 1/19/25) and in a further-reaching manner than the ban intended (it would have prevented Apple & Google from allowing updates but left the app intact on people's phones).

By the time the smoke had fully curled in on itself and solidified into flesh and bone, the air inside the circle was smouldering hot. It made the entry into the human realm less jarring, the demon found, and he took the time to flex his wings in the warmth before turning his eyes upon the figure in the robe.
“Speak,” he commanded. “And state why you have Summoned me.”
The figure raised her head to meet his eyes. “Is this a good time for you?
The demon’s mind stumbled. “Excuse me?”
“Well,” the voice continued. “I did just summon you, like, out of nowhere. I checked all the spells to see if there was one to just send a message or something, but it seemed to be summon or nothing. If this is a bad time for you, I can absolutely try again later though.”
On second inspection, it wasn’t a robe his summoner was wearing. It was a long, sturdy apron. What his still adjusting sight had taken for a hood was a shawl tied round her hair. The demon stared at her with unblinking eyes. “It is as good a time as any, witch.”
“Oh good,” the witch smiled. “That’s a relief.”
“Why did you summon me?” the demon demanded again. This kind of small talk was highly irregular. He squinted at the stains on the witch’s hands, most of which he suspected were nothing more sinister than ink and juice. “What reason could you possibly have to call upon the likes of me.”
“Well, their names are Storm and Letitia and they need a babysitter.”
The demon stared at her some more. “They what-”
The witch met him with a smile of sunshine enthusiasm. “I checked your references in the Necronomicon, you are very good with kids!”
“I…” His bewilderment left him scrambling for words. “I tempted the minds of neglected children to cause them to swarm and lay waste to their town!”
“Yeah! It said in the book that they were all under ten years old and that there were at least twenty of them. That must have taken a lot of skill!”
The demon shifted his weight a little. When she put it like that… “It is one of my more infamous accomplishments.”
“Really impressive,” the witch nodded admiringly. “So I was hoping…maybe we can work something out? The kids would love getting to hang out with a demon.”
“Surely your kind has its own caretakers to hire.”
She deflated a little. “Yeah, well. Letitia has just started levitating and Storm is very focussed on animal transformations right now. Which is great! He’s so talented. But half the time he refuses to turn himself back when it’s time for dinner and, well, not everyone wants to deal with feeding a Iberian Lynx.
“Iberian Lynx?” he repeated, raising a ridged eyebrow.
“They’re both very fond of felines,” the witch clarified.
“I see.” The demon looked from the witch to the circle around him (it seemed to have been drawn with blue sidewalk chalk) and then to the room around her. There were several large diagrams on the wall with arcane symbols and occult sigils. Between them were drawings. A lot of them. Mostly of cats. Several of them had wings, or horns. He looked back at the witch again.
“Tell me,” he said, slowly sinking down into a cross-legged position on the floor. “Exactly how old are they?”

“At my old job in public education, my office mate invented the concept of the 8 Weeks of Doom. This was defined as the period between New Year’s and Spring Break where it was dark and gray, there were few holidays, and everyone’s seasonal depression hit an all-time high. To combat the 8 Weeks of Doom, she started a tradition of making me a Doom Calendar, which is an advent calendar but for fighting the Doom. She’d include small fidgets, snacks, stickers, and fun tea, which I’d open whenever the Doom felt very high on a particular day. Eventually this turned into a standing tradition of us making each other Doom Calendars, and the concept spread to our whole department. We would eventually just start our department meetings checking in about how everyone was managing the Doom, and did anyone want to open a Doom Calendar door for a quick pick me up? Even though we’re not longer office mates, I still exchange a Doom Calendar with this friend every year anyway. It really does help with the Doom!”
