"I Am The Monster You Created"
â What Could Have Been by Ray Chen & Sting
I was listening to that song and immediately thought of Touya and thought to draw this exact piece. This piece was SO painful, curse those staples, BUT I GOT IT DONE đŞđšâ¨
My body hurts. I did this thing in like, two sittings.
I also wanted to put the lyrics to What Could Have Been over the piece, and I thought the font looked cool, so I had fun with it!
I'm going to print this out and put it on my wall đ¤ I'm THINKING about selling these as prints, though I'd love to offer bigger sizes...

When We Were Young...
In my story, the twins, 6 at the time, were taken in by a kind middle-aged farmer by the name of Kunio Shigaraki.
Yoichi was scared of the animals at first, but quickly grew to love them.
Zen wasn't too fond. Chickens peck his boots and he doesn't like that. (He punted a hen once đ)

I had SO much fun working on this! It's the first time I've done a portrait of a real person, and we're both very pleased with how it came out!
Thank you so much, Vivi, for coming to me and trusting me with this! You're a beautiful human being, inside and out, and you're always a joy to talk and work with!

Came looking for the dorms layout, started getting invested in why Izuku would be on the girls' side. Now I'm SOBBING LAUGHING I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT ENDING đđđ đđđ THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE
The big twist behind all the boring little details

Note: This post is long, and spends half its time explaining floor plans and architecture. But bare with the boring little details for now - cause by the end, they all come together for one helluva twist.
In the second semester of Izuku Midoriyaâs first year, UA High implements a dormitory policy for all its students. Like the other classes, Class 1-A gets an entire BUILDING to itself as a dormitory. Boku no Hero Academia spends two whole chapters on explaining the ins and outs of the dorm and room assignments for the students - chapters 98 and 99 respectively. Itâs an odd choice, to the point where Deku actually breaks the fourth wall in chapter 99 to question the decision.

Now it can be argued that the two chapters are a âcooling offâ period after the drama of the villain ambush and All Might vs AfO - a chance to show off the entire classâs personality based off how they choose to decorate their rooms - but thereâs something more to the two dormitory chapters  beyond showcasing the personalities of the students.

Principal Nezu states outright in the first chapter, chapter 98, that purpose of the dorms is not just to protect the students, but something more. Principal Nezu built the dorms to catch a potential mole - the traitor. This post⌠will not be focusing on that. In fact, I would even go so far as to argue that the traitor talk is a misdirect - a plotpoint flaunted by Hori to make us search for the traitor so he could sneak something RIGHT PAST OUR NOSES.
Letâs begin by noting the basic facts of the dormitoryâs structure.

Iâll list the key points for clarity. Keep number one and two in the back of your mind - theyâll be brought up and expanded upon later.
1. The left side of the dorm is the boyâs side, the right side of the dorm is the girlâs side - with the exception of the first floor.
2. The first floor is a âcommon areaâ open to both boys and girls.
3. The rooms for boys and girls begin from the second floor up to the fith floor
4. There is a courtyard.
Letâs examine the layout of 4 of the dormâs 5 floors - using the floor plans the manga provides us. We only get floorplans for the second floor and up - so weâll have to construct a floorplan for the first floor later.

I removed Aizawaâs dialogue and the names of which student go to which room here - because the particular room assignments ISNâT what you should be paying attention to here. Instead, pay attention to the shape of the building from floor to floor. Youâll note that on 4F and 5F(the fourth and fifth floor), the bottom doesnât touch like 3F and 2F does. Why do they not connect? Well, a look at the front of the dorm building will give us the answer.

See how that 1-A above the the two entrances stops at the third floor? Thatâs the corridor that connects the first, second, and third floor - and it stops after the third floor. However, donât be misled by the word âconnection.â  The space to connect is present on 2F and 3F, but thereâs a wall dividing the boyâs wing and the girlâs wing. Thatâs why when the class finishes checking out all the boys rooms on the second floor, they need to go down to the first floor and then up a floor to get to the girls rooms on the second floor.

So note the black line inbetween the 3 and the F - thatâs the divider. As for what the red arrows are pointing to - theyâre pointing to the gap on both 3F and 4Fâs floor plans. Whatâs the gap? Well, itâs the courtyard.

This small, heavily pixelized drawing which Iâve enhanced is actually the only full profile of the dormâs exterior we get to see. You can see thereâs a front entrance, a connecting corridor, and a large courtyard.

Iâve pointed out the corridor with a red arrow - and as you can see from the size of the courtyard, the building is more like four corridors put together. What does that tell us? Well it tells us that the following image would NOT be weâd see immediately after walking in through the front entrance of the dorm.

In fact, what weâre seeing here is actually the LEFT side of the building. The boyâs side of the building, but the first floor is a common area open to everyone. But what would we see if we went in through the front entrance?

Well, thereâs actually TWO entrances - two front doors. One more to the left of the building, and one more to the right. This is a function of the dorm being split by gender - boys on the left, girls on the right. Â The common floor is open to everyone, but you canât get to the girls wing of the second floor without going down to the first floor. The reason for this is probably something along the lines of there being two elevators - one that goes up to the boys rooms on the left, one that goes up to the girls rooms on the right. For now, letâs construct a floor plan of the first floor common area based on what we know.

The above is a visual representation of THINGS WE KNOW FOR SURE. The green 1 and 2 are the two front doors of the dorm. The star is the left side of the first floor common area - the one with the tv and couches. The two blue question marks are rooms of some kind - weâll speculate on what rooms they are later.

Flash forward to Chapter 126, and we see another interior shot of the left side of the common area as Izuku frantically runs off to his internship with Sir. Since Izuku runs down the corridor to leave, we know that the entrance of the building is in the direction heâs running. We know from the image below that heâll have to make a right turn once he passes the TV and couch area, and then another right to leave through one of the front entrances.

So hereâs what weâre gonna do now. Weâre gonna track Izukuâs route as he rushes to get to his internship, and see if we notice anything odd.Â

Iâve enlarged a panel from a previous page - do you notice anything odd about it in regards to Izuku?

Itâs the âFSH FSH FSHâ sound effect Izuku is making as he runs. The sound effect itself is fine - Izuku IS in a hurry - but notice what DIRECTION Izuku is running from, using the âFSH FSH FSHâ sound effect. Thatâs right, the right side of the building.
The girlâs side.
Letâs not be too hasty in jumping to any conclusions. We need to determine just how Izuku would get up and down the building based on his room. Luckily, we can use the floor plans and Mineta to determine that.

Now we can start looking at room assignments. Izuku Midoriyaâs room is listed as being on the second floor. Heâs right next to Mineta, so we can use two perspective shots with Mineta to figure out Izukuâs possible routes to get out.

We know that there is a set of stairs and/or elevator at the end of 2Fâs corridor from this perspective of Minetaâs room

But from this perspective - we donât see anything to the right besides the windows. In other words, Izuku can only exit 2F by going down the hallway.Â

So be it an elevator, staircase, or both, Izukuâs options to leave in the morning lie where the green check is. In fact,itâs literally his ONLY option.
But thatâs a problem. Remember, Minetaâs room is right above the kitchen counter area in the common room - meaning that if Izuku was rushing out the door from his room, the stairs/elevator should have him pop out near the yellow star on our floor plan.

Yet his route to leave is like this.

We can chalk it all up to something we didnât see or account for - but just as Izukuâs route completely contradicts the exit options a BOY would have, it actually fits in perfectly with how a GIRL would exit the building. Letâs prove it by using Tsuyuâs perspective of the 5F hallway we see in chapter 99

Like with Mineta, thereâs only one exit on this floor - and itâs the way the students choose to leave.

But itâs on the OPPOSITE side of the hall relative to 2F. And, coincidentally, would fit right in with Izukuâs exit route.Â
So letâs update our floor plan with the elevator that goes to the boys wings, and the elevator that goes to the girlâs wings.

We see that if for some incredibly strange reason Izuku were to live on the girlâs side of the building, his route would actually be the MOST efficient. But Izuku isnât a girl, and besides, the whole class saw his room, right?
âŚ
Right?
Well, in actuality.. weâve only seen one person inside Izukuâs room besides Izuku.Â

Ochako Uraraka. When we see the other students showing off their room, we see more than two people inside the room, or at the very least, multiple people react to the room

But with Izuku, not only do we just see Ochako inside his room, no one besides Ochako even comments on his room.
Letâs put the conclusion on hold. Remember what Izuku and Bakugouâs punishment was for fighting?

Cleaning. Yet despite Izukuâs origin being the cleaning of an entire beach, he seems to have slacked off a bit in his task.

He didnât clean his side of the first floor common area. Say, what WAS Izukuâs side of the common area? Can we even find out? Actually, we CAN

See the square glass pattern? The windows Mineta is touching has its glass seperated into squares. And theyâre on the RIGHT side of the hall

We know the above image is the LEFT side of the common area - the area directly below the boys rooms. And look - same windows as the one Mineta is touching with its glass divided into little squares, but theyâre on the LEFT side.
In other words - the side of the common room that Izuku was supposed to clean, but the side that for some reason Izuku FORGOT to clean was THE GIRLâS SIDE
Now, you REALLY will need to read my earlier post HEREÂ or else youâll think Iâm the one who is crazy, but hereâs the conclusion.
Izuku Midoriya used the route he used to leave in the morning because Izuku Midoriya lives on the girlâs side of the dorms. Izuku Midoriya lives on the girls side of the dorms because Izuku Midoriya is a girl. Izuku Midoriya didnât neglect to clean the girlâs side of the dorm - Izuku Midoriya forgot, because at the time, Izuku Midoriya was his true self - Ochako Uraraka.Â
