Ajmer, the fifth largest city in Rajasthan is located 135 kilometers west of Jaipur. This city originated in the late 7th century A.D. and was discovered by Ajay raj Singh Chauhan whose dynasty ruled Ajmer; later in 1956 this city became a part of Rajasthan. It is situated on the lower slopes of the Taragarh Hill in the AravalliRange, almost the center of Rajasthan. Ajmer is sheltered from the Thar Desert by the enormous rocks of Nagpathar range.
This city has a warm semi-arid weather with over 55 cms. Climate remains moderately high throughout the year with the summer months having a typical daily temperature of about 30°C. Nonetheless monsoons are habitually heavy with rains and thunderstorms, flooding are not common incidents. To receive special blessings from this shine people visit during the Urs fair, held on the 7th lunar month according to the Islamic calendar and is variable rendering to the solar calendar. Apart from this pilgrim other tourist attractions include a Jain temple Nasiyan also known as the Red temple or popularly known as the SoniJiki Nasiyan. Adhai-Din Ka-Jhonpra, a work of art of Indo-Islamic architecture created in two and a half days(Adhai) is a artifact of old mosque. Taragarh fort is also one of the added tourist attractions.
