hello my friends ! i’ll be taking a short semi-hiatus until the 2nd while i try to... figure out how the hell to write prose on ivy again. even tho i am... rly slow at replying to ims and hate that both for and about me, i do think having ! some more solid connects ! wld aid in this endeavor ! so if u wld like 2 plot/if we already have a plot and u’d like to discuss it further, like this and i’ll hit u up !

“ hey. ” she’d been trailing her for weeks – well, more like… thirty seconds. but it had felt like weeks. from the cleaning aisle to the the frozen section. god, her heart was racing. slowly, she turned her head and lifted her sunglasses, gaze intense. “ look. ” she held up a bag, somewhat frozen meat inside. “ chicken. my favorite. ”

it took ivy a brief moment... a brief moment of contemplating why this woman with her sunglasses ( corey hart would approve ) was showcasing a bag of mostly frozen chicken to her. was she high ? was the woman high ? did this woman know something she didn’t know ? did she know danny devito ? and as all of this happened within the span of what must’ve been but a mere four seconds, it finally donned on her ! “ virginia ? ” ...she had to ask just to be sure. it also took ivy... a hot second to put together why virginia was choosing to bring up poultry as the ice breaker... ah yes, because she, ivy, steals chickens! yes, upon putting two and two together, she let out a slight laugh and replied, “ y’know, if you ever want them fresh, there’s this guy in my building who keeps chickens – i can totally hook you up. ”

Well… if he didn’t know that he had failed on getting money to buy drugs, he’d say she was high. Like, dog lawyer? Honestly? Lee was surprised to hear a chuckled leaving his lips, as Ivy’s silly comment lightened his mood a little bit. Weren’t they both messed up? Addiction made this to people. To the best of people. And Lee could see, or, well, imagine, how good Ivy would be without all of this bullshit, all of the struggles the drugs brought to a person’s life. “Well, maybe that thing is you” he suggested and he placed the jacket on the floor before approaching the girl; he didn’t know why exactly he was doing that… but he was. The last time he touched her had been to hurt her and he just couldn’t get that out of his mind. The image of her, bruised, on the floor, her tears. She had been so broken at the time because of her own struggles and he could still see something of that even in those sober eyes of hers. “You are worth it, you know? You should give you this chance. I know it doesn’t sound true, though..” he said. He so knew how it was— they didn’t feel worthy of anything. Maybe that’s why he was placing all his hopes in Moonie… The moment next, Lee had his arms around her, in an awkward hug, he softly caressed her hair. Maybe he was doing this because she needed this.. or maybe he was the one in need. He just hoped he wouldn’t be pushed away.

ivy was fairly certain the last time she’d been to therapy had been when she was somewhere around the mere age of ten, but she was also fairly certain that the ‘maybe that thing is you’ sentiment was an approach often used by therapists. “ i think you just earned, like, a psych doctorate with that one. ” it wasn’t as though she didn’t wish it was true, but who exactly was she if she hadn’t some purpose ? if she hadn’t that thing worth losing ? it was the game they played, right ? the game the world played – find that thing to lose. and try not to lose it. how caught up she was, she hadn’t much registered lee nearing her – if she had, perhaps she would’ve backed away... or perhaps she would’ve continued doing what she was doing: standing still, waiting to see the outcome. and the outcome... was unexpected. unexpected, a bit unnatural, but carried with it an air of comfort. she... did her best to reciprocate the hug, although her end was rather awkward, as well – pretty loose. still within this... something-like-a-hug, she stated, “ we’re really bad at this. ”
