6 Things to Look for in Good House Shoes
Many of us have spent more time at home in the past year than ever before. And while our feet may be thanking us for the break from high heels, the absence of shoes has not produced the best results either. Spending extended time barefoot, walking on hardwood floors has led to a host of other challenges we weren’t prepared for. So let’s dive into why you need house shoes, and our top five things to look out for in an ideal pair!
 Getting back on your feet
Wearing house shoes helps protect your feet from the cold, hard floors and keeps aching feet at bay. When your house shoes have arch support, it also helps relieve any discomfort caused by poor posture. In fact, your feet are so critical to your joint health that when your feet are properly supported with a good pair of house shoes, it actually reduces the strain on your other joints too, like your knees, hips, and spine.
It is common for your outdoor shoes to have arch support, but not many people prioritize this in a pair of house shoes. Since we are currently spending much more time at home, it’s time to start expecting more from our house shoes too!
 1.  Solid support
As we said, you can never go wrong with a pair of house shoes that have arch support. If you’re picking a pair of house shoes, look for something lightweight, but with a solid sole that will carry you effortlessly around the house without much wear and tear. A sole that is flat with some grip has the ideal supportive base. If you already have some type of joint pain, house shoes are essential to reduce the likelihood of the pain returning or getting worse.
 2.  Easy to slip on & off
Let’s face it - sometimes we don’t want the extra effort of strapping ourselves into our shoes, heck, some of us can barely motivate ourselves enough to wear a bra these days! But that’s why it helps to have house shoes that are easy to slip on and off. You don’t need to make an event out of it, simply slip them on and you’re good to go!
 3.  Go Seamless
Nasty shoe bites can cause serious discomfort, and this is the last thing we want as a byproduct of our house shoes. Look for a shoe with fewer internal seams, and preferably a seamless toe box. This will reduce the possibility of rubbing and chaffing.
 4.  Consider Quality
There’s a famous quote that says “We are not so rich as to buy cheap things.” What this means is that if you’re looking to make your spending work for you, it pays off to buy high-quality. If you buy a pair of house shoes that are flimsy, they probably won’t last you more than a season before they quickly lose shape and begin looking shabby. Invest in good quality, well-crafted house shoes if you want them to last!
 5.  Materials
Choose the material of your house shoes based on their use. For example, it always helps when shoes are stain-resistant making them easy to clean when you get a little too excited with a glass of red wine in hand. It’s also important the insoles are moisture-wicking and have anti-bacterial properties to prevent icky foot infections.
 6.  Sustainability
Remember, not all house shoes are created equal! If you’re looking to make more sustainable choices, opt for shoes that don’t harm the planet. Sustainability is not just about buying natural products, but also ones that last.
There are plenty of ways you can make fashion choices that help our planet. Clothing and shoes made from renewable or recycled materials, natural fabrics, vegan leather, and other plant-based materials. We may not think of our shoes as being instrumental in saving the environment, but why shouldn’t they be? You wear them every single day, you have multiple pairs, and let’s be real, we all use our shoes to make a statement.
Dooeys provide the coziness of a house slipper with all-day comfort thanks to their arch support and sneaker-like soles. They are the best women's house shoes with support and are made from premium, sustainable materials -- our vegan apple leather is sourced from organic, post-processed apple skins and cores used in the juice industry. Instead of the traditional sole, we use sugarcane EVA that has the same softness and flexibility as foam used in sneakers with a much lower carbon footprint. Our shoes come with a high-quality lining made of recycled polyester and plastic bottles in an efficient, zero-waste system.

Surprising Health Benefits of House Shoes
Wondering whether it makes sense to get yourself a pair of comfortable house slippers? Let me spare you the pain of doing all the homework yourself and tell you: YES! You absolutely should consider getting a pair, not just for aesthetics, but for your health too!
Barefoot walking leads to foot pain and cold toes, and wearing socks can be slippery. You could wear “outside” shoes indoors, but that will only bring in dirt, and let’s face it, they’re a potential germ vector and mean more vacuuming.
Considering all this, it might be time to embrace the “house shoe.” They’re the perfect balance of comfort, style, and utility. But did you know, they come with health benefits too? Here are some of the biggest wins when you switch to house shoes:
1.  Prevent the sniffles:
Did you know that your feet are an important part of your body for warding off common illnesses like a cold or the flu? When your feet are cold, the blood vessels in your nose actually get narrower by reflex to prevent your body from losing precious warmth. When this happens, the skin on the inside of your nose gets more pale because of the reduction in blood flow. This decrease in blood flow is not good news.
The white blood cells that fight off infection end up being scarce, and the odds of getting an infection might be higher. Also, the little hairs present in your nasal passages known as cilia also becomes more still, which means it’s another line of defense that is compromised.
When you wear slippers, your feet are kept warm and heat loss is reduced, which helps to keep blood flowing to the nose as it normally would and allows your body’s defenses to fight off diseases and illnesses more successfully.
2.  Fight off the fungi:
Have you been to a fancy spa where the moment you’re all signed up and ready, they hand you a pair of slippers to wear around the premises? One big reason for this is because wearing slippers helps protect your feet from communicable foot diseases, such as athlete’s foot and toenail fungus infections (ick, I know!)
Even when you’re just wearing them around the house, the ground can have more germs on it than you might think. The shoes you wear outside carry in the dirt, bacteria, and fungal spores from the street. It doesn’t take being a clean freak, the fact is that slippers help keep your feet MUCH more protected from bacterial or fungal infections.
3.  Puffy ankles no more:
As age catches up (even for those of us in denial!) we may find our ankles or feet getting swollen. What many people don’t know is that wearing supportive slippers can help to encourage blood flow to your feet, which is great news for those puffy ankles! Wearing supportive house shoes helps your feet to move and function in an environment that promotes healthy function. If you’re sick of having swollen feet, investing in a pair of supportive house shoes can be a major game-changer.
4.  Improve balance and alleviate strain:
Make sure you choose a pair of house slippers with arch support built-in as that will help keep your feet comfortable, alleviate strain on parts of your foot that may be absorbing more impact, and improve your balance. An unsupported arch ends up being painful and uncomfortable and can lead to pain and discomfort.
This is especially important if you’re dealing with an existing foot condition, such as plantar fasciitis or prolapsed arches. House shoes with a solid sole and arch support will help hug your natural footprint and keep you stable and balanced with every step you take.
Slip on house shoes are an easy, perhaps essential addition to your wardrobe and have many benefits, from reducing germ exposure to helping you keep your feet pain-free. Make sure you do a little research on what kind of house shoes you think are best for you.

Our Favorite Work from Home Wardrobe Essentials
While not many of us miss the ordeal of commuting to work (if we’re currently working from home), you gotta admit the one thing you probably do miss: Posing in front of the mirror, dressed and ready for the day. Now, the ghost of your glamorous past remains every time you walk past the mirror in sweats or pajamas.
If you’ve been spending more time at home lately, you might be facing the same challenge we do - you just can’t seem to find comfortable pieces of clothing in which you can sit and relax but also be ready for an unexpected Zoom meeting that you’re informed of at the last minute.
The way you dress can change your attitude towards work. Just by putting on a nice outfit can help you feel more mentally-ready to get things done and be more productive. A change in outfit signals that you’re ready for something different which is why you might not feel as productive in your same old tee and sweatpants.
Being mindful of our carbon footprint now, less has become more. Put your conscience at ease knowing these brands are sustainable and ethically-sourced. Adding these versatile staples in your closet is a great way to reduce your fast fashion shopping.
That’s why we’ve procured a list of wardrobe must-haves in which you can feel ready for work, as well as laze around afterwards. Here are some of our sustainable favorites for these moments!
 ADAY - Something Borrowed Shirt
You can never go wrong with a classic white take on the button-down shirt, but better because it’s stretchy and soft. This simple shirt offers the formal look without the whole hassle of trying not to crease it after ironing.
It gives a chic style finished with a mandarin collar, dolman sleeves and side-slits allowing you to tuck it into your equally comfy leggings.
The front of the shirt is also double-lined which means you can stay braless in this, ladies! You can go for an oversized size for a more casual look or consider sizing down for a slimmer fit. Many of their clothing items come from recycled materials, which we absolutely love!
Girlfriend Collective -  Black High-Rise Pocket Legging
You know what’s worse than a pair of jeans? A low-rise pair of jeans!
But don’t worry because these leggings are here to save the day!
No “stay-at-home” look can be complete without leggings. They’re a versatile essential that you can wear anywhere, with anything.
These leggings are compressive, squat-proof, ultra-high rise with double side pockets. If you’re wondering if you read that right, yes you did! These leggings do indeed come with pockets that you can use, plus they are available in eleven different colors and sizes that start from XXS and go up to 6XL. If you were looking for a sign to buy new leggings this is it!
Girlfriend uses 100% recycled and recyclable packaging they are also able to incorporate recycled polyester, nylon, post-consumer bottles into their comfortable legging material.
Dooeys - House Shoes
The long hours of walking and standing around the house barefoot isn’t really ideal for your feet. If you’ve got hard floors, slippers won’t be of much help either, because your feet deserve to relax and be comfortable at home too.
Dooeys provide the coziness of a slipper with all-day comfort thanks to their arch support and sneaker-like soles. They are the perfect shoes for home you can slip on and stay cozy all day, while still looking 100% fab.
These house shoes come in two different designs to suit your slip-on preferences, and are made from premium, sustainable materials — the vegan apple leather is sourced from organic, post-processed apple skins and cores used in the juice industry. Instead of the traditional sole, it’s got sugarcane EVA that has the same softness and flexibility as foam used in sneakers with a much lower carbon footprint. These shoes come with a high-quality lining made of recycled polyester and plastic bottles in an efficient, zero-waste system.
You can even style and pair these wardrobe essentials with each other to make the ultimate cozy-work-from-home outfit. Working from home doesn’t mean you have to dress drab or boring. We don’t dress to impress, we dress for ourselves, whether that’s to be more productive or just to look cute.
The simple style allows these pieces to be a versatile styling option that you can easily pair with things you already own. We don’t ever want you to feel like you have to compromise on your style just because you’ve decided to go green.
So get ready to conquer your day!

The Low Down: What Makes House Shoes Better Than Slippers
Everyone knows good footwear is an investment, whether they’re dress shoes, running shoes, or an everyday pair. We take time to choose good shoes because when our feet are comfortable, so are we!
That's why each type of shoe serves a different purpose. But what about at home where we either walk barefoot or slip on a flat pair of slippers? During extended hours of staying at home you might have noticed that your feet still hurt. This is most probably because you spend a lot of time on the hard floor of your house in your flimsy slippers, or barefoot.
You might experience the pain or inflammation in the heel or ball of your foot because of the pressure these points take when you walk on a hard floor. If you have noticed pain on the top of your foot it’s because the foot is forced to flatten more than when it is on a softer surface.
Why not slippers?
You may be thinking, what’s the big deal with slippers? How can they possibly hurt me? But it certainly is a big deal if you care about your feet. You might not notice these things right away but in the long run your feet, legs and even your hip joints will thank you.
Our feet are tasked with carrying our whole body weight around and by wearing footwear with arch support we can make their job a tiny bit easier by taking some of the pressure off. Most house slippers designed to wear inside the house do not have an arch support and continuously wearing them can show negative results in the long run.
Safe or Sorry
The best way to prevent this pain is to make sure your shoe has arch support. This will support your foot by transferring the pressure off the parts of your foot that would start to hurt. The arch also provides relief by reducing the pressure between the bones on top of the foot.
Having good arch support is not the only thing that’s important. We recommend getting supportive house shoes with good, sturdy soles. A major problem with many styles of indoor footwear is that the soles provide little grip compared to those found on outdoor shoes. Ideally, you need solid soles, along with a structure that envelopes your foot enough to provide it with support so that you avoid unnecessary injuries around the house like slipping, twisting your ankle or getting a sprain (and we all have that one corner in our house where we keep accidentally stubbing our toes!)
The Dooeys Difference
A pair of Dooeys provide the perfect arch support for your feet so that you don’t get tired while doing everything you do at home. They are the perfect shoes for home to slip on and stay comfortable all day. The days of unsupportive and flimsy slippers are long gone, jump on the Dooeys train, and wave goodbye to aching feet.
Dooeys provide the coziness of a slipper along with comfort of an outdoor shoe thanks to their arch support and sneaker-like soles. Dooeys house shoes are made from premium, sustainable materials — our vegan apple leather is sourced from organic, post-processed apple skins and cores used in the juice industry. Instead of the traditional sole, we use sugarcane EVA that has the same softness and flexibility as foam used in sneakers with a much lower carbon footprint. Our shoes come with a high-quality lining made of recycled polyester and plastic bottles in an efficient, zero-waste system.

Sustainable Choices in Everyday Life
We live in an ecosystem, which means everything we do in our day-to-day life impacts the environment, climate, and other species. It could be the food you eat, or how you choose to commute, or even the clothes you wear. If you choose to live sustainably, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to make a radical change in the way you live your life. You aren’t destroying the planet if you don’t immediately get rid of everything you own because it’s not sustainable. Instead, it’s the small changes that you can make to your everyday life that will protect the planet.
If you want to change and start living a more sustainable life, but you don’t know how, this article is for you. Here are four choices you can make today to create a sustainable lifestyle:
1. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!
You’ve probably already heard of the 3 ‘R’s. You need to start at the basics if you’re going to change your lifestyle. Before you can make a complete shift to a sustainable life, aim to reduce your consumption. We are all consumers and it’s our overconsumption that harms the planet. The planet is drowning in items that get used and then tossed, from toothbrushes to our phones. It’s essential to make everything you buy an eco-friendly decision. Before you make a purchasing decision, stop for a moment and question the purchase - What do you need? Why do you need it? Are there sustainable alternatives that you can buy instead?
The next step is to reuse what you already have. Try to reuse the products you already have as many times as possible before deciding to toss them. Avoid single-use products like bottled water and straws that take hundreds of years to decompose fully. Switch over to using reusable bottles and metal straws instead You can’t always avoid single-use products, and that’s okay. Once you’re done using a product, check if it can be recycled. Put your rubbish in the correct bins and attempt to recycle as much as possible.
2. Sustainable Choices At Home
Everyone can’t completely transform their homes by replacing their windows and switching to solar-powered energy, but there are quite a few small changes you can make to have a more sustainable household. If it’s safe and you don’t currently drink tap water, think about investing in a filter. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but it’s also way cheaper than bottled water. Love sparking water? Choose an at home soda maker like Sodastream as these have a much lower environmental impact than buying cases of individual sparkling water bottles or cans. Be sure to choose one with glass bottles that you can easily wash and will last longer.
You can also be smarter with your electronic appliances. Pick options that use the least energy instead of going for the most convenient option. Swap out your regular light bulbs for LED light bulbs. Not only do they last longer, but they’re also way more energy efficient which helps you save money in the long run! Also, try using a programmable thermostat to control the temperatures in your house, which makes your home a lot more eco-friendly.
3. Sustainable Fashion Choices
Fast fashion is the mass production of cheap and disposable clothing. The fashion industry produces 80 billion garments a year, most of which ends up in landfills or get incinerated. You can make quite a few sustainable choices: Vintage & Thrift, Fair Trade clothing, Upcycled Clothing, or choosing brands that use sustainable materials and offset their carbon emissions. They’ve all got their own unique identities, but no matter what choice you make, you’re still making a sustainable choice.
When you make a purchase, it’s crucial to think about how long that particular garment will last. Invest in trans-seasonal clothing like jeans, dresses and jackets that can be worn all year round. Wear your clothes and continue to wear them! Make the most of your purchases before you buy something new and when you’re no longer interested in some of the clothes you have, donate them or do a clothes swap with friends.
4. Sustainable Commute
Up to 75% of urban air pollution is caused due to fuel combustion from motor vehicles. We have slow-moving cars stuck at red lights and in traffic jams to blame for some of the fumes emitted into our atmosphere. With that being said, the number of vehicles on the road are still increasing, and that’s why it’s up to us to do something about it. You don’t need to get rid of your car, but you can choose to use it less. If your destination is close enough, choose to walk or ride a bike. It may not be as fast as using your car, but it’s a much healthier option since you’re physically active while you’re commuting. Public transport may not be the most convenient, but it’s a lot more eco-friendly than using your car. Besides, you don’t have to concentrate on the road while using public transport, which allows you to catch up on some reading or relax and unwind while travelling. If a car is necessary, see if there’s someone you can carpool with for repeat commutes or invest in an electric car.

Why Should You Wear Shoes Inside Your House?
One of the most common household rules is to take your shoes off while you’re at home. There are plenty of reasons for this common household practice. Most of us already know how good it feels to come home and kick our shoes off after wearing them for prolonged periods. Whether you’ve just got home from a tiring workout or a long day of work, taking off your shoes is arguably one of the most fantastic forms of relief you can feel. Apart from just being relieved, many of us don’t want to track dirt over our clean floors or carpets after being outside. By wearing outdoor shoes indoors, you’re inviting all sorts of germs and harmful bacteria...ick! Wearing shoes indoors can be good for you, and in this article, we’re going to tell you why and how to do it properly.
Why should you wear shoes indoors?
It is proven that wearing shoes inside your house is comfortable and can also be healthy for you. To properly understand the benefits of wearing shoes indoors, we need first to understand the way our feet work.
When we walk barefooted, our feet pronate (our soles turning downwards or inwards) for a longer time, altering the biomechanics and distribution of weight and pressure across our feet. This imbalance may lead to painful conditions associated with excessive pronation, such as arch/heel pain or shin splints. This imbalance can then move upwards and affect other parts of your body. Wearing shoes can help eliminate this imbalance in your feet and allow you always to be comfortable.
Also, walking barefoot on hard surfaces like hardwood floor, stone or tile for extended amounts of time can be detrimental to your feet. Your foot isn’t built to endure all that stress, but when you do subject your foot to tremendous amounts of stress, you also strain other parts of your body, such as your knees and back. In fact, wearing the right shoes indoors can provide serious amounts of relief for people suffering from back problems, plantar fasciitis (an inflammation of a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes) and even chronic conditions like diabetes.
Along with the health benefits of wearing shoes at home, they also provide you with protection from any injuries or accidents that you wouldn’t get from being barefooted.
Tips for wearings shoes at home
We’ve been through why you should wear shoes in the house, but picking out a pair of indoor shoes isn’t always clear cut. That’s why we’ve put together some tips that will not only help you pick out the perfect indoor shoe.
A shoe that supports you: It’s essential that you pick a shoe with a firm sole that provides structure and support for your feet. A firm sole not only supports your foot but also absorbs shock, and this, coupled with the additional support, can help alleviate any heel or arch pain that you have. Picking a shoe with a firm sole also provides you with traction that helps prevent slipping. Keep in mind that the shoe you choose needs to be a good mix of supportive and comfortable while also highly durable.
Shoes with breathable fabric: Sometimes, our feet get sweaty, and we want to avoid this when we are wearing shoes not only at home but in general. Bacteria and fungus not only grow but thrive in moist environments. That’s why you need to make sure you’re picking a pair of shoes made out of breathable fabric that allows your feet to be sweat-free, thus making sure you have no bacteria or fungus growing in your shoes.
Indoors means indoors: When you’re investing in a pair of indoor shoes, make sure those shoes are only used indoors. You shouldn’t use your indoor shoes as outdoor shoes because you want the soles to stay clean and not rack dirt inside your house.
Check how your shoe smells: Just like the rest of our bodies, the skin cells on our feet die, and the dead skin then falls off. This dead skin can accumulate and grow into a fungus that’ll cause your shoes to smell. Regularly clean your shoes and give sufficient time to air out every time you wear them.
Change your shoes: You don’t have to have more than one pair of indoor shoes as long as you take care of that pair of shoes. If your shoes start to smell or look worn out, that means it might be time to get a new pair. We like to have two pairs that we swap between depending on our outfit or mood.
If you’re like many, you’ve spent a lot of time indoors over the past year. If you’ve been taking your shoes off at home, you may have not known about all the benefits of having a pair of indoor shoes, but now you have a reason to! If you want to take care of your feet and make sure they’re both comfortable and healthy, investing in some indoor shoes is a great idea. Follow our tips and pick a shoe that’s perfect for you and enjoy having happy and healthy feet! And if you’re looking for our favorites, try Dooeys house shoes for women. Our house loafers and house mules are easy to slip on, provide arch support, and have durable, sneaker-like soles for all-day comfort at home. Read more

Our Favorite Sustainable Loungewear Picks
Thanks to the work-from-home life, loungewear is a staple for most wardrobes now. More than ever before, people today are looking for ways to disconnect from work and the hustle, and it may not always involve a change of location - so a wardrobe change is a must!
Today we’re talking about picking sustainable loungewear that gives both you and the environment a big warm fuzzy hug. But what’s been up with the loungewear trend these days? Is it just loose clothing or is there more to it?
Loungewear go-to’s usually include joggers, pullovers, comfortable pajama sets, onesies, and even bralettes. Extra comfy loungewear may be made using touch-centric fabrics like textured yarns with fluffy detailing to enhance the comfort and coziness of that item of clothing. But generally, ‘bare’ or back-to-basics type of skin friendly fabrics made of soft, breathable materials are key.
So, since our tight denim jeans, nice tops, and flowy dresses make their appearance a bit less these days, let’s give ourselves a break and explore the world of comfort clothing (sustainably, of course!)
1.   TENCEL™ LiteBralette by Organic Basics:
The triangle bralette is taking the comfort lingerie world by storm, and our favorite of the lot is this masterpiece by Organic Basics. It’s made with TENCEL™ Lyocell, an eco-friendly wood pulp fiber that is designed to last. We always recommend investing in essentials, and this bralette is definitely on our list because what’s the point of having a comfy t-shirt, if you’re uncomfortable underneath?!

2.   Hemp Blend Easy Tee by Pact
Not only is this tee super comfortable, it’s made with organic cotton. In fact it has no toxic chemicals and takes 91% less water than conventional cotton to make! The design is simple, a never-fail scoop neck and short sleeves plus a loose fit that won't weigh you down, no matter where the day takes you. And finally, a t-shirt with a pocket! We already feel so much more relaxed.
3.   The Softest French Terry Cropped Hoodie by Summersalt
The website tells us to ‘Imagine your best, worn-in t-shirt had a love child with a cozy blanket’ and we’re all about it! This adorable cropped hoodie is made with eco-friendly TENCEL™ as well, and is loose enough to keep you comfortable, without looking clunky. Plus, we love Summersalt because they’re an EU Ecolabel award winner for their sustainability manufacturing practices!
This cropped hoodie can be paired with your favorite pair of joggers, leggings, or even a pair of shorts. It’s not too heavy or too light, this fabric makes for a great layering piece all year round.
4.   Connie Jogger by Threads 4 Thought
The Connie Jogger looks every bit as comfortable as it is - it’s made from their signature feather fleece, and boasts the title of ‘the comfiest sweatpants you'll ever wear!’. We’re sold.
Threads for Thought is a great pick when it comes to sustainable fashion. Their fabrics are made from some of the world’s most sustainable materials, including organic cotton, recycled polyester, and Lenzing modal.
In case you’re wondering how to style joggers, here’s a good place to start: pair them with a black leather jacket, a turtleneck or an oversized hoodie with slip-on sneakers or a pair of Dooey’s house shoes.

2021’s Surprising Fashion Statement You Didn’t Know About
The Guardian calls it ‘The Slipper Surge’.
The house shoe which was once confined to homes, hardwood floors, and walk to the mailbox at most are now becoming a wardrobe staple.
Your favorite celebrities have been seen sporting them outside the house too - Justin Beiber and Nicki Minaj were photographed wearing house slippers around town. It’s the new ‘bathleisure’ trend that’s becoming the next big thing, as people make comfort a style statement.
Why House Shoes?
Tumblr media
Glad you asked! We wrote a blog about this so you can get more details, but in short - walking barefoot can leave you with foot pain and cold toes. The alternative, which is wearing socks, can be slippery and not very supportive. Some people chose to wear “outside” shoes at home, but that brings in dirt and nobody wants that!
House slippers are one of those wardrobe pieces that, once you own them, you'll wonder how you ever managed to live without them. Whether you find yourself spending most of your time indoors, or if you’re embracing the pajamas-as-clothing trend, or maybe you could just use a little more comfort in your day-to-day life.
It’s time to up your house game with some house shoes! They’re the perfect balance of comfort, utility, and style.
Wait, Style, and House Shoes?
Doesn’t sound right, does it? Nobody thinks of house shoes as a style statement. But you don’t need to be an Instagram style influencer to put together a cute outfit at home.
Shoes make a statement and add the right amount of function to fashion. The right pair of shoes can make your feet feel like they're walking on clouds, or they can be the finishing touch to a stylish ensemble.
With spending more time indoors over the last year, you may find yourself growing weary of the basic, stay-home, woke-up-like-this look. That’s why house shoes can become a style statement. Working from home doesn’t mean you have to dress drab or boring. We don’t dress to impress, we dress for ourselves, whether that’s to be more productive or just feel good!
How Do I Pick the Right House Shoe for Me?
There are, without exaggeration, thousands of different slippers out there! They differ in style, function, arch support, and materials. As you shop, you'll want to think about your personal style and fashion ethics. We’ve talked about making sustainable choices in everyday life before, and our wardrobe is a big part of this lifestyle. An easy way to achieve this lifestyle is by thinking of your wardrobe as an investment. That way it makes logical sense to avoid buying single-use clothing, and instead investing in trans-seasonal clothing that can be worn all year round. Purchasing higher quality pieces that are less about trends, and made for any era, trend, or season, is not only a more eco-friendly option, but can actually save money in the end.
The same principle applies when it comes to house shoes, if you prioritize fashion over function, you may want a pair that has a stylish exterior, even if it comes at the expense of arch support. However, if you’re  more driven by arch support, function, and utility - you can find a pair that has a good, solid sole and right support. There are plenty of house shoes that can even pass for outdoor shoes, especially those designed like mules or slip-on sneakers. The next aspect you ought to pay attention to is the type of fabric you prefer. House shoes come in a diverse range of textiles, like fuzzy fur, cozy lining, moisture-wicking fleece, cotton terry and wool. Our favorites are of course Dooeys house shoes for women, because they have it all — style, support, coziness, and their made from sustainable materials!
Making a Statement With Your Footwear
Fashion is about being adaptable and learning to combine different styles together to create a fresh new look. For example, pair your house shoes with an edgy pair of denims, or with a stylish pair of bicycle shorts. Be creative and try switching up your favorite wardrobe pieces to create brand new looks.
And remember, you’re never fully dressed without an extra dose of confidence. Confidence doesn’t come from the right pair of house shoes. It isn’t something that you add to your cart online or hang in your closet. You don’t need to be ahead of the fashion curve to make a statement, nor do you need to spend your paycheck on the priciest clothes around. Instead, embrace your unique identity, expressed through the clothes you wear, and BOOM! You’re making a statement already.
