Love Sam and Dean and everything about their brotherly relationship, it is and always will be the heart of Supernatural, I am obsessed with the codependency. Proud Bibro, Sam and Dean are platonic soulmates in my eyes. Primarily a Jared/Sam girl. I'm cool with Wincest but I don’t ship it. Cover photo credit: LadyJenny on deviantart.com

The thing that astounds me about Jack Pearson is that he should not have turned out to be as good of a person as he did. He not only survived a horrible childhood, Vietnam, his estrangement from his brother, a raging case of PTSD, and his own genetic legacy, but he thrived in spite of those things. Married the love of his life, had three beautiful kids who worshipped him, supported his family, and was finally beginning to successfully fight his addiction when he died. He didn't do everything perfectly but he could have been lost to alcoholism or suicide or violence at so many points along the way and he did end up getting almost everything he wanted. I think that's a beautiful legacy and that it especially resonates with people who loved Milo on Gilmore Girls, because Jess could have been lost at so many points along the way and yet he wasn't. He ended up triumphing in the end and becoming a great man, albeit in a very different way.

So I’ve been on a This is Us binge and I just finished the series finale. That show is seriously legendary, one for the books.
I was thinking about what Kevin, Kate, and Randall’s version of “The Train” will be when they cross over into the afterlife someday.
Given that they said the first thing they see when they think about family is each other and their parents, my first thought was the old Pearson family car. Imagine them dying and waking up in the backseat as a kid/teen, with Rebecca in the front seat and Jack driving 🥹.

Don’t mind me I’ll just be over here getting emotional over Milo Ventimiglia going to Niles Fitch’s college graduation because it’s something Jack never got to see Randall do 🥹💜.

Can y’all believe Jared was on the same network for 24 years in a row? I’m so proud of him 🥹💙.

This is Us fanfic
So, I’ve recently become absolutely obsessed with This is Us. I’ve quickly descended into fandom level obsession in the 2.5 weeks that I’ve been watching it, and I’m already on season 4. I’m in love with the Pearson family, every single goddamn one of them, and I’m a sucker for any kind of Pearson family hurt/comfort. This show is probably my greatest obsession since I discovered Supernatural.
There’s only one problem with that- for how popular it seems the show was, there’s a severe lack of fanfic in the This is Us tag on the most common fan fiction websites, and an even more surprising lack of hurt/comfort fics.
“Growing up” in the Supernatural fandom, lack of fanfic was never an issue for me. While I’ve consumed literally thousands of Supernatural hurt/comfort fics over the years, I never considered writing my own- for every idea I had, someone else had already written that fanfic for me- and they’d done it well. I was never “hungry” enough to want to spend time writing my own fan fiction.
Well- with the lack of fanfic in the This is Us fandom, things have changed now. If no one else is going to supply me with extra Pearson family feels, I’ll do it myself, dammit 😂.
Long story short, I’m currently working on a 10 year old Kevin sickfic- the premise is that he gets sick on a Saturday and is at first bummed to be missing out on weekend activities, but then realizes it’s actually kind of nice to have mom and dad all to himself for the day taking care of him. Here’s the summary:
Title: Pretty Good Saturday
Summary: in March of 1991, 10 year old Kevin is bummed to be missing Sophie’s birthday party when he comes down with strep throat. As the day goes on, he realizes maybe it’s not so bad after all- being sick on a Saturday when both mom and dad are home- and his siblings aren’t.
If anyone has any interest in that, let me know and I’ll consider posting it when it’s done. If not, I’ll keep the story to myself forever lol. If it actually manages to go over well, I’ll lead the This is Us fandom in hurt/comfort fics for as long as I have to 😂.

As a swiftie and new born This is Us Fan, I just need to warn y’all… don’t listen to the “How Did it End” bridge and think about Jack and Rebecca. Don’t hear “The deflation of our dreaming” and think about how Jack was finally gonna start the “Big 3 homes” business right before the fire happened. Just don’t do it. You’ve been warned.

Update: I went with the season 12 episode where Sam and Dean carve their initials into the library table ☺️.
Someone help I want to watch a good Sam episode of Supernatural to celebrate Sam’s birthday but I can’t think of any episodes where Sam is happy other than like, the first 15 minutes of the finale 😂.

Sometimes I randomly think about how when we’re scared enough to yell out for someone, it’s almost always our mom. Even well into adulthood, whenever something jolts us to this point, it’s almost always MOM or whatever variation of the word. It’s just a gut reaction of sorts to yell out for comfort, an inner child perhaps seeking the caregiver thinking a little bit of ease can be sought.
But that’s not the with Dean. He did have his mother for 4 years, and he was considerably attached to her, so it’s interesting how every time Dean has panicked, he’s called out for Sam. The macho, devil-may-care-attitude parading guy, when really scared out of his wits, calls out for the one absolute in his life. SAM!
In Hell, in his Mal’ak Box dream, when he’s restless about the Mark in his sleep, or hell when he’s temporarily blinded and has to has to reach out to Sam. Same thing when he’s left gasping on the floor by RowenaMichael, so he calls out for Sam while losing breath. Also figures then that the two times he’s helplessly had to watch as Sam was killed before his very eyes (Song Remains the Same and Beat the Devil), all he can do is call out for Sam.
Then there’s the Season15 episode where they’re fighting without luck on their side and when Dean is bent over the toilet, puking his guts out, yeah he’s still calling for Sam between heaves. Almost like the name itself is a comfort. Like just repeating SamSamSammy like a mantra in his head could make the situation that much less difficult. But the name slips out between his lips in desperation at times. It’s simple really, Dean’s scared and there’s Sam. There’s no Mom here — even after Mary is back— instead there’s Sam.

This might be a little dramatic but I think Taylor Swift actually wrote “How Did it End” about the June 2021 J2 breakup

I absolutely love how to this day, every time a certain crowd starts to get all smug about how Jared and Jensen aren’t friends anymore, J2 are spotted out together shortly after. It’s a timeless tradition.

As a swiftie and recent Inheritance Games fan, I’ve been thinking about what Taylor Swift songs match the couples and characters well, here’s what I’ve come up with so far:
Avery&Jameson: Mine, I Can See You, Mastermind, You Are In Love, Timeless, So It Goes, Dress, I Know Places
Avery&Grayson: Say Don’t Go, The 1, August, Foolish One, Back To December, You All Over Me, Labyrinth, Coney Island
Nash&Libby: “Slut!”, Love Story, Begin Again, Enchanted, Lover
Xander&Max: Stay Stay Stay, Stay Beautiful, It’s Nice To Have a Friend
Hawthore Brothers &Avery: Vigilante Shit
Avery&Max: Dorothea
Grayson: Castles Crumbling, This is me Trying
Bonus: Tobias Hawthorne: Anti Hero 😂
Let me know if you have any other ideas for songs for certain characters or couples! I had fun making this list ☺️

So I’ve recently started reading The Inheritance Games series and I’m so hooked! I’m through Final Gambit and about to start The Brothers Hawthorne.
I love the puzzles&mystery aspect of the series, but more than anything what really drew me in was those four Hawthorne brothers and their dynamics with each other. As a die hard Supernatural fan, I just can’t put down a story about some traumatized, twisted, emotionally damaged brothers who (low key) put each other before anything else.
Avery is cool, she’s a great protag, and I love that she’s never been painted as a damsel in distress- but It’s not her relationship with Jameson or any of the other romances in the story that pull me in- it’s those fucked up Hawthorne boys.
So, Supernatural fans- if you’re missing Sam and Dean and needing an emotionally damaged brothers fix, I suggest picking up this series!
Also- Nash and Xander supremacy forever. My boys ❤️.
