1997, Ixnay on the Hombre is the fourth studio album by @offspring After the massive commercial success of their previous album Smash (1994), the band entered the studio in the middle of 1996 to record a new album. The title combines Pig Latin ("Ixnay" is the version of the word "nix," familiar in 1940s Hollywood movies) and Spanish ("hombre", "man") to convey the message "fuck The Man", as in "fuck authority". #theoffspring https://www.instagram.com/p/B8JDOGileyU/?igshid=lzz0zy21trup

1977, @fleetwooddmac released the album "Rumours". Fleetwood Mac's Rumours would never be just an album. Upon its release in 1977, it became the fastest-selling LP of all time, moving 800,000 copies per week at its height, and its success made Fleetwood Mac a cultural phenomenon. The million-dollar record that took a year and untold grams to complete became a totem of 1970s excess, rock'n'roll at its most gloriously indulgent. It was also a bellwether of glimmering Californian possibility, the permissiveness and entitlement of the 70s done up in heavy harmonies. By the time it was made, the personal freedoms endowed by the social upheaval of the 60s had unspooled into unfettered hedonism. https://www.instagram.com/p/B8I02ialCM_/?igshid=19qqas3135s33

1996, @madonna starred in the film Evita, playing the titular role. For a long time, Madonna had desired to play Eva and even wrote a letter to director Alan Parker, explaining how she would be perfect for the part. After securing the role, she underwent vocal training with coach Joan Lader since Evita required the actors to sing their own parts. Lader noted that the singer "had to use her voice in a way she's never used it before. Evita is real musical theatre — it's operatic, in a sense. Madonna developed an upper register that she didn't know she had." From the moment she was signed in the film, Madonna had expressed interest in recording a dance version of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina". According to her publicist Liz Rosenberg, "since [Madonna] didn't write the music and lyrics, she wanted her signature on that song... I think on her mind, the best way to do it was going in the studio and work up a remix". https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Ixp-BlN-G/?igshid=1v5v7n81pcldn

1998, Yield is the fifth studio album by @pearljam The album was hailed as a return to the band's early, straightforward rock sound, and marked a more collaborative effort from the band as opposed to relying heavily on frontman @eddievedderjamz to compose the song lyrics. The lyrics deal with contemplative themes, albeit seen in a more positive manner compared to the band's earlier work. The album title is rooted in the idea of "yielding to nature," a theme central to Daniel Quinn's novel Ishmael. The album produced two hits: "Given to fly" and "Wishlist". https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Gh6IuF6F5/?igshid=16ddmpxd3171k

"Discothèque" is the lead single from @u2 1997 album, Pop. The song was remixed for U2's The Best of 1990-2000 greatest hits album, released in 2002. The new version has a longer intro and subtle use of the techno-sounding drum beat that figured prominently in the opening of the original track. The new "Discotheque" sounds similar to the way U2 performed the song during the PopMart Tour in 1997 and 1998. https://www.instagram.com/p/B8GgAGWlF_z/?igshid=1edr0c0i3jync
