chapter 1

yoshino: Uuu, hng, gguuu, ow ow ow!

saki: ...Yoshino-san what are you doing exactly?

yoshino: Huh? Ah! Hello Saki-san. Um, before practice starts I thought I should loosen up my body. I was just doing some stretches but... I guess you didn't see?

Sigh... even though I've tried a lot of things, my body is still so stiff. I get told that I look flexible often but in truth I'm the complete opposite... When it comes to those who are flexible it'd be Mokuren, Menou and Qu. When I first saw them stretch I couldn't believe my eyes, they're flexible to an extent that doesn't look humanly possible... I mean, they can reach their legs up to their head you know? And, I don't mean to be rude when I say it was unexpected, but Sin is also flexible. It goes without saying that Kei and Gui are, but Ginsei is also considerably flexible as well.

Sighh... why am I the only one who's not? I want to believe that if I keep doing stretches one day I'll be flexible too. So, at times like when I get out of the bath, I do gymnastics stretches intended for beginners... but there hasn't been any improvement whatsoever. I'm a singer, but a certain amount of dance is also required, but I guess I'm a bit of a special exception... sigh.

Even though I want to properly be K's singer... Ah sorry for suddenly complaining. While saying I'm dissatisfied I have to do my best and aim for a more flexible body.

yoshino: Ah that's it, um, I have a request, could you help me stretch? Maybe applying pressure from behind will help. Would it be ok if you push on my back for me?

saki: Sure, then excuse me...

chapter 1

sin: ....Hm. I didn't think it would happen right away but it's still somewhat troubling. *saki walks in* What is it Saki, have you come to visit?

saki: Did something happen? You looked concerned for a moment...

sin: My home is currently being encroached by a miniature devil, it constantly wails 'meow meow'.

saki: Could it be... you're talking about a stray cat?

sin: That's right. Unei is off searching for it's master. My home is merely a temporary lodging. In an apartment where all souls pass through, a 'cat' is too much of a handful. Fleeing from the bath, battling my couch and my clothes... the purpose of our existences differ too greatly for us to coexist.

saki: Fufu...Ah!? S-sorry, I didn't mean to laugh.

sin: No matter. Things don't always go as we plan. Like how a home for one soul becoming two can't be helped. If a good place isn't found for the cat to settle down, it will bring misfortune to us both. *phone buzz* It's from Unei.

Hm, it seems he has an idea in mind. Then all I need to do is hand the small creature over to him and that'll be that. You should see it if you get the chance, it's quite mischievous like you. Anyways... I must make preparations for the little devil's feast.

sin: Is that you Saki?

sin: Yes, this is the aforementioned miniature devil. An impractical method such as this can't be helped. I'm letting Unei handle the transfer over to it's new master. The less souls I have connections to the better. *cat protests*

...Don't move, put your claws away. Are you Nidhogg? Because I'm not your Yggdrasil*. Even Loki would be easier to deal with compared to you.

saki: It seems the cat's only mischievous when it comes to you, Sin-san.

sin: That's a possibility. It'll be good if it's like that towards it's new master too. Cats are simply that sort of an existence. *cat meows* Good response. *meow* That's right, you won't be returning to my home anymore.

saki: It will be lonely huh.

sin: Things such as where ones heart is headed cannot easily be put into words. I try not to find fixed meanings to such uncertainties. Even towards you.

saki: What do you mean?

sin: *phone buzz* It seems the other party has made their arrival. *meow* You should discover your fate within the light... since I cannot.

[BSTS] Rindou Off Day 4* Card Story

chapter 1 -in street-

rindou: Hmm, it's located at the park? And the times are...

saki: Wah!

rindou: Oh, Saki-san! I'm sorry, my attention was elsewhere... are you ok?

saki: Yes I'm fine, I was just a little startled. What is it you were looking at?

rindou: This. It's a pamphlet for a mobile aquarium. It appears it will be stopping in a park that's close by, so I thought I'd take the chance to go and see it. Oh I know, how about we go together?

saki: Sure it sounds interesting, I'd like to go.

rindou: I'm glad, let's get going then. It's been a while since I visited the aquarium so I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been able to go much recently.

saki: Do you visit the aquarium regularly?

rindou: Yeah, I aimlessly visit there on my days off. My favourite part is seeing the large tank full of fish since they look as if they're flying in the sky. It's always quiet so it's easy to lose track of time. Ah, but sometimes I end up getting ideas for performances. That's why when my mind is muddled I often find myself absentmindedly spending my time looking at the fish.

saki: It must be a special time for you.

rindou: Yeah, I'm able to relax... it would be nice if I could make more time for things like that. I'd like to be able to admire fish at home too so I've thought about keeping some as pets before. But there's no way of knowing what's happening at Starless. If I'm not able to care for them properly I would feel bad. Tropical fish are especially hard to care for too... when I consider that I can't help being hesitant.

saki: That's true...

rindou: Ah, it's that park just over there. The viewing time is for another two hours, let's hurry.

chapter 2 -in park-

rindou: It's quite busy isn't it, a lot of people have gathered. According to the pamphlet, it seems the main display this time is small fish and other small sea creatures. As expected there's no dolphins or orcas huh, well I guess that's obvious though.

saki: Do you like dolphins and orcas?

rindou: They're my highlight at the aquarium. I really enjoy watching their dynamic shows. Ah but it appears there's other fish and creatures worth seeing here. Let's check it out.

saki: They're so pretty...

rindou: I could watch them swim around together like this all day. Plus the tank going all the way to the truck's ceiling makes it impressive. Ah that's the light up jellyfish corner. There might be some mystical jellyfish there, shall we go look? The mobile aquarium's amazing isn't it, I've become completely immersed in it.

saki: Me too. Are you feeling refreshed Rindou-san?

rindou: Yes, this has been a nice chance of pace. Even if I can't keep fish myself, I got to enjoy seeing various things here so I'm satisfied. I'm glad I could be here with you as well. Let's make today our own little secret alright? Next time how about we visit a proper aquarium together, when that time comes I'll escort you again.

[BSTS] Rindou & Maica Summer 4* Card Story Summaries

(I don‘t have the story logs for these two anymore and at the time of the event I only summarised them)

chapter 1

Rindou finds Saki walking along the river, he asks if Saki was going for a stroll and asks if he can join her, she agrees.

Rindou mentions that it'll get cold once the sun sets and asks if Saki's cold, she says shes fine and asks Rindou the same. Rindou says hes still buring after the show, the stage is outdoors with the sun shining down so theres a lot of heat. Saki says its impressive they can still put on such a great show in those conditions. Rindou mentions there's famous artists performing too so they can't lose to them, he talks about the show and concludes he's glad they participated in the festival, also because they can go for a walk through the outdoors like this.

rindou: "...I haven't gone on a nature walk with someone like this since I was little."

Rindou notices that people have gathered up ahead and wonders what they're doing, they both decide to go and see.

chapter 2 (its nighttime now)

When they get closer to the gathered people, Rindou realises that they're lighting sparklers and wonders if it's a family. Saki comments that having sparklers by the riverside really gives off the feeling of summer.

rindou: "Sparklers huh... Hey Saki-san, why don't we do it too, light sparklers I mean."

Saki agrees but wonders where they'll get them from, Rindou points out a stall that appears to be selling them. They buy some and Rindou also gets a bucket of water to extinguish any flames. They move to a spot where there aren't any people and Rindou hands Saki a sparkler, she thanks him and mentions that she's actually pretty excited. Rindou agrees and lights his sparkler.

saki: "Woah it's so pretty!"

rindou: ".....yeah........(spacing out)"

saki: Rindou-san?

rindou: "Ah, I'm fine sorry, I was just in a bit of a trance. When I saw the sparkler burning, it reminded me of the past. I haven't lit sparklers like this since the time I did so with my family. I was thinking that it would be nice to do it again, and that wish came true. Thank you for coming along with me, if I had been alone I'm sure I would've kept putting it off."

rindou: "Thank you for today, truely. Lighting sparklers with you brought back some nice memories."

Saki says that they should do it again next year too and Rindou agrees. They start cleaning up to head back.

rindou: "Saki-san... I'm glad you were here with me."

chapter 1

Saki offers Maica a mineral water after the show, Maica thanks her and asks if she has any plans after this. Saki says she's free and Maica asks if she'd like to accompny him. Saki agrees and asks where they're going, Maica wants to go somewhere other than the festival area cause there's too many people and sunlights harsh. Saki suggests the nearby mountain stream.

They reach the stream and Maica's in a good mood. Saki asks if Maica visits mountains and summer retreats often. Maica says he hasn't really in Japan but when he was overseas he went on vacation sometimes. He mentions that he never thought he'd come to a place like this while working at Starless. Saki agrees that it's kind of weird seeing them perform outdoors. Maica says singing outdoors isn't that bad though. They head towards an area where you can enter the river.

chapter 2

They discover the riverside is busy too and Saki comments it must be because it's hot today and the water looks like it'd feel good. Maica smiles and says he’s going in too then. He walks in the water and says it's colder than he expected. He says the water feels good just as Saki had thought and invites her in. Saki says she isn't wearing the appropriate clothing for water.

saki: (If I just soak my feet it should be alright but... hmm what should I do...)

maica: "Hey Saki, look here a sec."

saki: "Huh, do you have something?"

maica: *throws water*

Saki freaks out and asks what Maica's doing so suddenly, he says standing in such a place looked hot so he wanted to cool her down. Saki protests saying she's going to get soaked and Maica says that since it's so hot it'll dry off by the time they return to the bus.

maica: "We finally came all the way to the river, isn't just watching from the sidelines boring? Here!" *splashes more water*

saki: "Kyaaa again! Jeez, if it's gonna be that way then, me too....ei!" *throws water back*

maica: "Uwah! Hey, splashing the upper body is against the rules!"

saki: "No complaints! Take this!"

maica: "Now you've done it! Hahahah!"

(water fight continues fade black)

Maica sighs and says he messed around to the fullest, Saki agrees that it was fun. Maica says it's been a long time since he played in water and wonders if the last time was when Qu was with him. He says he's gotten hungry and suggests they head back but Saki points out they're both drenched. He reminds her that they'll dry by the time they return to the festival and says that by now there should be less people around.

[BSTS] Rindou Onsen 4* Card Story

pov rindou takes u on a dinner date

chapter 1 -in onsen village-

rindou: Oh Saki-san, what a coincidence. Are you going for a walk?

saki: Yeah, while I'm here I thought I would have a look around. Hm? Rindou-san your face looks red, are you alright?

rindou: Yeah... does the red stand out? I've just been to the outside onsen. I heard from Menou there was an underrated onsen nearby. He gave me a big speech about how it's good in a different way to the hotel onsen, so I got interested.

saki: How was it?

rindou: It was wonderful. It was an open air bath that faces the river, so the scenery was beautiful. The spring was white turbid water* as well, so I was warmed completely form the inside out.

saki: You could fall right asleep huh.

rindou: Yes, I was able to relax in a long while. Even though we're here for work, onsens are nice. ...*sneezes*

saki: Are you ok?

rindou: Excuse me, it seems my body is starting to cool down. I'll return to thr hotel before I get too cold, I'd like to enjoy some dinner too. Oh, have you already had dinner Saki-san? Everyone else is off doing their own thing today so I was planning on eating in the hotel's restaurant. If you'd like, would you join me? It's a restaurant that connects to a lounge area, their japanese cuisine looks delicious.

saki: Sounds nice, I'd love to join you.

rindou: I'm glad, then, shall we go?

chapter 2 -in hotel restaurant-

rindou: I'm glad the place isn't too busy, must be because this is an early hour to eat dinner. We'll be able to take our time before tonights show. I'm here for work but maybe I'll indulge myself a bit.

saki: I think its nice to do that every now and then.

rindou: It's something unique to tour performances hm. When it was decided we'd be doing a show here I looked up and selected a hotel online. The pictures of the food looked really good, so I thought I'd have to come try it once as a customer. There's a variety of dishes and colours. I've heard before that part of the charm of hospitality is trying lots of food while you're travelling. They take everyones favourites into consideration.

saki: I'm looking forward to it. I want to eat everything.

rindou: What an elaborate dish. I can feel the heart that's been put into it, it makes me happy.

saki: Same. Everything tastes great!

rindou: I like what's in this small bowl. The pieces are cut to a size that's easy to eat with chopsticks.

saki: ...I'd been thinking it for a while but, the way you use your chopsticks is beautiful Rindou-san.

rindou: Oh, really? It's not something I was aware of... If that's the case I'm grateful to my parents for teaching me how to use them when I was little. They told me it would be easier to eat if I held them correctly so I practiced.

saki: I see, amazing. That's just like you Rindou-san.

rindou: You'll make me nervous if you stare that much but, I like to eat as cleanly as possible. Since I wouldn't want to make those I'm eating with uncomfortable.

Fufu, I'm really glad I practiced so much, I got to be praised by you.

Aah, the meal was delicious. I'm satisfied that I got to experience this restaurant’s food. I'm glad I got to eat with you today, thank you for accepting the invitation.

[BSTS] Rindou White Day 2021 4* Card Story

he went all out this year 😳

chapter 1 -in reha room-

saki: Keep up the good work Rindou-san. I heard you'd been rehearsing this whole time so...

rindou: Did you come to check up on me? Thank you. This white day lineup was chosen by our guest's votes. I'm honoured to have been chosen, I have to live up to their expectations. I may be putting even more into it than usual.

saki: I'm also looking forward to the show. If I remember correctly it's based on Water Margin, right?

rindou: Yeah. However many changes have been made to the original for the Starless version. The original is a story about the protagonists overthrowing a corrupt government and it's officials, it's very much focused on the battle aspect... In the Starless version though, a goddess from chinese mythology called Jiutian Xuannü has been added and it's centred around a love story. The role I'm playing, Song Jiang, was Xuannü's lover in a previous life. It's that sort of setting.

Longing for the goddess, Song Jiang faces countless hardships. However wishing with his whole heart that he wants to be with her, no matter what he's up against, he faces it and overcomes it. I put a lot of effort into the direction of the show as well, so I'd be happy if you took a liking to it.

saki: Fufu, I'm getting more and more excited to see the real thing.

rindou: Song Jiang is also easy to sympathise with, so I may be a little over enthusiastic about it. Like him, I've also encountered many hardships here at Starless... at those times you were there to encourage me.

saki: I-I haven't done anything...

rindou: Fufu, I may have selfishly interpreted it that way then. Pushed on by the feelings he wants to convey to Xuannü, who he can only meet within in his dreams, Song Jiang never gives up no matter what happens. It's the same for me, there have been times where I'm able to overcome the difficulties because you were there. I'll put all my gratitude into the show, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Please look forward to it.

man: You a customer here missy? Doesn't look like they're open yet, how bout you come play with me?

saki: ...No thanks.

man: Huuh? Come on it'll be fine~ We can just go grab some coffee--

rindou: That woman is Starless' precious guest. Would you please remove your hand from her?

man: Tch, what's up with you, I was just saying hi it's not that big of a deal.

(man leaves)

rindou: Are you alright Saki-san?

saki: Ah... thank you Rindou-san.

rindou: There's no way I wouldn't look out for such an important guest of ours. Unei-kun has his hands full so I came to place the signboard outside in his place. Seems I came at just the right time. ......

saki: Rindou-san?

rindou: I'm relieved that I was able to properly protect you. So this is how it feels to look out for your lover.

saki: What...?

rindou: In his dreams where Song Jiang longs for Xannü, he may have thought about wanting to protect her like this.

saki: (He's talking about his role... right?)

rindou: Ah I'm sorry, I started talking to myself. The show will be starting soon, shall we go?

saki: (Oh Rindou-san is on floor staff today, woah, he's carrying a tray on both his hands!)

rindou: (serving customers) Thank you for waiting, here is your freshwater prawn tomato pasta and malibu cola. And here is your homemade sangria and cheddar cheese burger. Will that be all for today? In that case, please enjoy.

(he walks over to saki)

rindou: Saki-san you're here.

saki: That's amazing that you can carry two trays of food without trouble.

rindou: Oh? Is... that so? Fufu thank you. This is the first time I've been complimented for something like that. I've served lots of guests so before I knew it I was able to do it. There aren't many floor staff at a time so it was only natural it turned out like this. Even if the number of staff increased we would only get in the way of the guests. I normally wouldn't but when it comes to plates I could carry four at once.

saki: Amazing!

rindou: I'd like to deliver the trays as safely as possible though. There's a trick to holding them, once you get used to it anyone can do it.

saki: Hm~ I feel like I've just discovered your special skill.

rindou: If it's a special skill I think picking out menu recommendations is more my forte. My top recommendations at the moment are the fruit parfait and the pancakes. Truth is, at the moment it's a menu that I can't help but want to eat myself. ...Excuse me, I let my true intentions slip. I missed my chance to so I haven't eaten today. Ah, I'm sorry, I'm being called by another table so I'll be going.

saki: Sorry for keeping you.

rindou: (at other table) Have you decided on your order? Or would you like some more time?

rindou: I apologise for using it as an excuse too, I'd just like to enjoy eating it with you. That is, if you don't dislike sweets.

rindou: Over here Saki-san. Sorry for suddenly calling you out.

saki: It’s fine, I was nearby anyway. You’re going shopping and needed my advice about something?

rindou: It’s about a prop to use in the show. I wanted to make a little trap to keep the poet in the Cat Town. So as a member of the audience, I wanted to hear what you think. Could you lend me a bit of your time?

saki: Of course.

rindou: I’ll cover the cost, so please choose whatever you like. I’ve actually already prepared the main device. It’s an incense burner, I took a picture... ah here it is. (shows her pic)

saki: It’s beautiful.

rindou: You use it to burn incense, what I’m looking for today is said incense. I got a bit lost since there are many more scents than just white sandalwood and aloes wood.

saki: Are you knowledgeable when it comes to incense Rindou-san?

rindou: I don’t know too much about it, but I do really enjoy them. I regularly use things like room fragrances and incense at my home. At Starless each team has a designated purfume to use, so that made me want to make my home smell like something I liked. That’s how I got interested in fragrances and such.

saki: You can relax when it’s a fragrance you like.

rindou: What kind of scents do you like? Men and women tend to have different tastes, could you share?

saki: That’s true, my favourite scent is—

saki: (It’s the scene where Rindou-san invites the poet to the Cat Town. The stage lighting is so bright and dazzling... The performance is beautiful too, I can understand why the poet get’s mesmerized by it.)

rindou: —You must be tired, why don’t we take a break from walking around and rest a little? My apologies, there’s just so much I want to show you. I‘m quite familiar with this store. The tea is superb but the owner is actually a master in kōdō*.

saki: (Ah, that incense burner.)

rindou: We still have some time so why don’t we relax, would you like some tea?

saki: (Is Rindou-san looking this way...?)

rindou: Evening, Saki-san.

saki: Good job on tonight’s performance!

rindou: Fufu, can I be conceited and think that you were looking for me? I had been looking for you from the stage as well.

saki: Y-you were? Speaking of, it made me happy to see that incense burner make an appearance. Actually, it even smells like it here too. Are you burning incense?

rindou: I had been, but even after the flame goes out the smell remains for a long time. See, you can still smell it right?

chapter 1 -onsen village-

saki: Where are we headed to today Mizuki-san?

mizuki: Meh, doesn’t really matter, wherever we go it’s all the same.

saki: Could it be you’re already bored with the trip?

mizuki: I wouldn’t say that, I mean, it was fun at first. The food tastes great, rooming with everyone’s been a lot of fun. Just walkin’ along like this is cool too cause there’s a buncha different things you can eat.

saki: It’s even nice to just window shop the local cuisine and specialties isn’t it.

mizuki: I was hyped bout going in the onsen too but it’s not like you can mess around in em. The bath’s super spacious yet all you can do is just sit there in one spot, it’s lame. I even went and checked out the other kinds of onsen but they were all the same.

saki: Is that so? Seeing each place’s interior design and unique facilities can be enjoyable though.

mizuki: Those things can be different? I didn’t notice none of that. Ah, there was somethin’ I liked though. There was lots of manga to choose from at them, even some titles I’d never seen before. Hey are there not any onsens where you can just read manga?

saki: If that’s the case how about we try finding a place that has even more manga than where you went. Hmm, if I recall it should say in the guidebook.... Oh, this place. It says they have over 1,000 manga volumes there.

mizuki: I dunno how much 1,000 is but that sounds epic! Conquering all the manga here might be a good idea.

chapter 2 -hotel lobby-

saki: You’re back early today Mizuki-san.

mizuki: Huh? Oh it’s you. Hey isn’t there a sauna here?

saki: Yes, along with a men’s bath, there should also be a mixed bath that you can enter with a robe on too.

mizuki: Really, so I can just go in like this? That sounds easier. Imma go check it out, you can do whatever ya like.

saki: And off he goes... I wonder why he’s suddenly so interested in the sauna. He even left behind the manga he was reading... looks like a manga about boxing?

-time pass-

saki: (He isn’t showing any signs of coming back... He said he was headed to the sauna right? I guess I’ll go and check on him.)

mizuki: Haa... Haa... (panting heavily)

saki: Mizuki-san!? Are you ok?

mizuki: ...Haa... Course I am, this is nothin’!

saki: You’re sweating like crazy, I think it’d be best if you stepped out of—

mizuki: No way! I ain’t goin’ nowhere! I’ve almost been in this sauna longer than that boxer.

saki: (This is troubling, it doesn’t look like he’s going to listen to me.)

saki: How much longer do you mean by ‘almost’?

mizuki: What? Like 5 more minutes.

saki: That long shouldn’t be a problem... Ok, I’ll stay here with you. Don’t overdo it though.

-time pass, back in lobby-

mizuki: Hell yeah! With this I’ve proven that I’m even stronger than a boxer!

saki: It can be dangerous so you shouldn’t use a sauna for things like that you know.

mizuki: Yeah yeah got it, I won’t do it again. Besides, from goin’ in there I’ve realised you don’t actually lose that much weight from it. Oh also, water tastes SO good afterwards!

saki: Oh, Rindou-san.

rindou: Good day, Saki-san. Hm? Are you by yourself?

saki: Yes, since we’re here I thought I’d go and look around the festival stalls. What are you up to Rindou-san?

rindou: Truth is, I have no commitments today until the evening, so I’ve just been wandering around aimlessly. If you’re ok with it could I join you?

saki: Yes, of course.

[BSTS] Rindou Summer Off Day 4* Card Story

chapter 1 -outside zoo-

saki: (Everyone was given free time, but I wonder where I should spend it.)

rindou: Have you decided where you’d like to look around Saki-san?

saki: Not yet.

rindou: The zoo grounds are large so it makes it a bit daunting doesn’t it.

saki: Yes, exactly. Where are you headed to Rindou-san?

rindou: I think I’ll visit the aquatic life area, then after that I might have a look around the arctic area too.

saki: The arctic area?

rindou: Yes, they have animals like polar bears and penguins there.

saki: Sounds like it would be nice and cold.

rindou: Would you like to join me then?

saki: Is that alright?

rindou: Of course.

-time pass, in the aquatic area-

saki: Wow, look at all those fish!

rindou: Appears this is where the freshwater fish are kept. That tank there has sweetfish and crucian carp.

saki: You really know your fish.

rindou: Fufu, I wish I knew them that well but I was just reading what’s written on the sign here. See, it’s over here.

saki: Oh, I see it now.

rindou: What’s written on these information boards is just as interesting as the fish on display. Like columns on how to tell certain species apart and such, I enjoy reading trival little facts like that. You can feel the enthusiasm of the aquarium staff that wrote them, it warms my heart.

saki: That’s lovely.

*loud applause*

rindou: Seems a crowd has gathered over there, is there some sort of event happening? According to the pamphlet, that's where the arctic area is. Would you like to go and check it out, Saki-san?

chapter 2 -arctic area-

*applause*

rindou: So there was a penguin show in progress.

saki: Uwah, how cute!

rindou: Oh, be careful not to get too close, water may be splashed our way.

saki: That’s true, I’ll be careful.

rindou: Fufu, once at a dolphin show I got drenched by a huge splash of water. It’s just penguins this time so it should be fine, but just in case.

*applause*

rindou: …Amazing. They look as though they’re flying through the sky. Ah, excuse me, I started getting all excited by myself.

saki: No no, it’s fine. You really like sea creatures don’t you, Rindou-san?

rindou: Yes, I get entranced the moment I look at them. Swimming around so fast like that, I wonder what we must look like from the penguins point of view.

rindou: ….! Watch out, Saki-san!

-he blocks a splash of water, cg-

saki: Rindou-san!

rindou: You didn’t get any water on you, did you?

saki: No, because you protected me…

rindou: I’m glad then.

saki: Um, if you’d like, please use my handkerchief to dry yourself off.

rindou: Thank you very much. I’ll wash it later and return it to you.

saki: It’s fine, I don’t mind if you just return it as is.

rindou: I couldn’t do something like that, it’s all wet… Oh, I know. How about we visit the souvenir shop later? I’ll buy you something new there as a present.

saki: But…

rindou: It’s really no trouble. I’d like to buy some things there for myself as well. Now that the show is done, shall we head over to the next area?

No, I'm on my way to work.

So many leaves have fallen overnight, I have to quickly finish sweeping up before any of the customers arrive.

MC

That's quite troublesome...

Rindou

Thank you. However, this isn't really a difficult task, isn't it?

I slept well last night, so I'm feeling better than ever.

It's quiet and comfortable here. It's a very nice inn.

MC

Exactly.

The food is delicious as well, I'm glad you were able to come.

It's a good thing I came, huh...

Apologies. It's just, if I'm being honest, I'm a bit worried.

It's just, whenever I go somewhere far from the usual hussle and bustle of things, I can't help but worry for my older sister.

My sister is still hospitalized in a small hospital room...

Even though I am working part time here, I am still relaxing at such a nice inn.

Whenever I think about it, I feel so sorry for her...

It's just, back in the day my family would always go on trips like these.

I've stayed at an inn similar to this many times before, so I guess it just reminds me of my older sister.

When my sister gets better, maybe we could all go on a family trip again, just like we used to.

MC

That would surely be nice.

I'm sure she would enjoy it as well.

The morning sweeping has already been taken care of.

However, when I went outside earlier, there were leaves piled up again.

It was quite windy in the morning, so I'm guessing more leaves fell off.

So I decided to clean them up again.

MC

Is that so.

Rindou

Look, the road leading to the inn is covered in leaves, is it not?

At this rate, guests hoping to check-in in the afternoon are likely to get lost.

MC

That's true.

(He's always so thoughtful...as expected of Rindou-san.)

Rindou

Even so, it's an amazing sight to behold the fall foilage. Everywhere you see is covered in red.

MC

I agree.

Rindou

The leaves up here in the mountains is an even brighter red, I think.

These autumn leaves are even more beautiful.

MC

You can't help but think they're more than just some simple fallen leaves.

Rindou

To commemorate this, when we go back I'll have a leaf pressed and use it as a bookmark.

If I give it to ger as a present, my sister may forgive me for staying at this wonderful inn.

MC

That's a good idea.

chapter 1 -starless break room-

rindou: …….

saki: (Looks like Rindou-san is reading something, a letter maybe?)

-rindou notices saki-

rindou: Oh, Saki-san, sorry for not noticing you right away.

saki: Oh no it’s fine, I’m not bothering you am I?

rindou: Not at all, I’m on break right now, what made you think that?

saki: It’s just you were reading with such a serious expression on your face…

rindou: Ah, so that’s what it was. This is a summary of all the guest’s opinions. I had Unei-kun put it together for me.

saki: The guest’s opinions…?

rindou: Concerning the Christmas show, I especially wanted to read opinions on the opening shows. Since then I can use them as reference for the remaining performances.

saki: (He’s so eager and diligent.)

rindou: I am already well aware of where I lack experience, so I’d like to work on my image first… Because a lot of the feedback has been that ‘Compared to the greedy Scrooge of the original work, my Scrooge is different’. If my image is getting in the way of the guest’s being able to fully immerse themselves in the show, then I must reconsider my acting.

The character that I’m playing, Scrooge, lives a life in which he believes in nothing but money, rejecting all of those around him. To the point that when he is informed of his friend’s death, he doesn’t even attend his funeral… Rather, he’s the kind of person that would shoo away the friend’s brother who had come to inform him about it.

The only thing Scrooge cares about is his fortune… That’s why there is significance to him travelling within the dreams. If my ‘Rindou’ image is getting in the way of the role then, it can’t be good for the show.

saki: Rindou-san…

rindou: Also I’m… not that perfect of a person to begin with.

saki: …Rindou-san?

rindou: *shock* Ah, nevermind. While talking with you it appears my break is just about up.

saki: Do you have rehearsals now?

rindou: Yes. If I don’t show up on time Mokuren and Menou will start arguing. Thank you for listening to me.

-rindou leaves-

saki: (He’s not that perfect of a person? I wonder what he meant by that…)

chapter 2 -restaurant area-

saki: Ah, Rindou-san.

rindou: You’ve come to see the show, have you? Please enjoy yourself.

saki: You too, please do your best.

rindou: Thank you. I’m going to be changing up my acting a bit today, so I’d like to ask your thoughts on it later. I have done some updating to my version of ‘Scrooge’. I want to live up to the expectations of the guests, since they chose me as the centre of this performance. Plus, I’d like to make up for the fact you had to listen to my whining.

saki: You’re always giving it your all, Rindou-san.

rindou: Hearing you say that gives me courage. If you’d be so kind, could we do a toast with these wine glasses?

saki: Of course.

-screen shakes-

saki: Ah!

rindou: Are you alright? Your wine spilt a little. Ah that’s good, it doesn’t seem to have gotten on your clothes.

saki: What about you?

rindou: I’m fine, a little bit got on my finger that’s all.

saki: But your gloves… I’ll go and ask Unei-san for advice!

rindou: Please wait.

-he steps close-

rindou: Don’t go. For just a little longer, stay here with me.

saki: Rindou-san…?

rindou: It’s fine. Isn’t wine and blood said to be one and the same?

saki: Rindou-san…!?

rindou: In that case, wouldn’t this wine that you spilt be akin to your blood? I’m able to understand Scrooge’s feelings right away.

chapter 1 -shopping centre-

saki: Uwah, there’s lots of people here.

rindou: Yeah, it’s a day off and Christmas is soon after all. Thank you for coming here with me today, Saki-san.

saki: No problem. You need to buy yourself a gift to use at your birthday event, right?

rindou: Yes. Though, rather than buy I suppose I’ll be creating one.

saki: Oh? You’re going to be making your gift?

rindou: Fufu, yes. I’ve actually already decided on what I’d like to do. The store is over that way, let’s go.

-time pass, homewares store-

saki: This is…?

rindou: It’s an aqua herbarium. At this store you can buy pre-made herbariums as well as make your own.

saki: How wonderful.

rindou: Ever since I saw one by chance I’ve been interested in them. I think they look just like tiny aquariums. Even though real fish can’t be kept in them, you can still enjoy the feeling of peering into the ocean whenever you want.

saki: Fufu, you’re right.

rindou: Whilst thinking that I’d like to buy one someday I haven’t had the chance to try make one yet. That’s why I thought I’d make the most of the occasion and make an aqua herbarium for my birthday.

saki: Sounds like it will become a nice keepsake.

rindou: This is where I’d like to ask you something… If you’d like, would you make it with me?

saki: Are you sure?

rindou: Yes. I had figured that making one with someone would be even more fun.

saki: True, then I’d love to help.

rindou: Thank you, shall we get started then? Let’s make a beautiful herbarium together.

saki: (Rindou-san’s photo shoot is going to start soon, so many guests have gathered around.)

rindou: Thank you very much everybody for coming to see me today. I hope that in the photo shoot I can leave behind some lasting memories for you all.

rindou: Thank you, I’m very happy to have your congratulations.

saki: (He’s even going around to each table to greet everyone personally… Fufu, both Rindou-san and all the guests seem to be having a really great time!)

rindou: Thanks for coming today, Saki-san.

saki: Happy birthday, Rindou-san. Your photo shoot was wonderful, everyone had lots of fun.

rindou: Thank you, it’s because of you.

saki: Oh no, I haven’t done anything…

rindou: We made this aqua herbarium together, remember? Because of that, I’ve been looking forward to my birthday event ever since. It’s a one of a kind herbarium that I made with you… I simply can’t wait to display it in my home.

saki: I’m glad I could help.

rindou: Yes, it’s because I had such a lovely gift with me that I was able to smile so naturally during the photo shoot. You’re always here supporting me, so I’d like to express my feelings of gratitude in my solo show. We’re free to sing, dance or act however we want during our birthday stage, so I plan to put on a show that expresses each and every one of my abilities to the fullest.

saki: I’ll be looking forward to it.

chapter 1 -resort restaurant-

saki: (Hm? On that chair over there, isn’t that Sin-san’s jacket? He must have left it behind, I’ll bring it to his room for him.)

-saki walks to sin’s room-

saki: (Oh, the door is slightly open.)

-she peeks into the room-

saki: Sin-san, are you there? Is this jacket—

saki: Ah.

sin: ……. 

saki: (Oops, he’s in the middle of getting changed… I’ll just leave his jacket hanging on the door.)

-next day, resort pool-

saki: Thanks for inviting me to hang out with you at the pool, Sin-san.

sin: When the still water’s surface is disturbed the rippling waves sink beneath. Slipping out of sight to the bottom of the pool, unnoticed by all.

saki: (Yesterday I just left Sin-san’s jacket on the door and left but I wonder if that was ok? Maybe I should have said something—)

sin: Saki. The unmarked traveller brings a mirror to the deepest depths of the abyss. What is it that was reflected in that fragmented mirror? …Yesterday, I found my jacket hanging on my room’s doorknob. Were you the one who brought it there?

saki: …Yes, that’s right.

sin: Thank you. Though, it appears you must have caught me in quite the improper state. Allow me to apologise.

saki: Oh no, I should be apologising too. I showed up at a bad time.

sin: It is fine, I am grateful you brought me my jacket. The Goddess has earned herself a rest between the swaying and crashing waves.

saki: A rest…?

sin: I think spending some quiet time here would be nice, would you like to join me?

saki: That sounds good! I want to see what relaxing on that beach chair is like. 

sin: I see… Then, do as your heart wishes.

-time pass-

saki: Whew… So this is what living in luxury feels like.

sin: I suppose.

saki: (Sin-san is reading a book in one of the hammocks… I probably shouldn’t bother him.)

sin: …Hm? Has the hammock caught your interest? If so, then you should join me.

chapter 2 -resort pool, day-

saki: You don’t mind if I lay in the hammock with you?

sin: I do not. Here, grab on and pull yourself up from there. As long as you don’t make any reckless movements you won’t fall out. Just take it easy.

-saki gets in the hammock-

sin: …How is it?

saki: Fufu, it’s fun! So this is what being in a hammock feels like.

sin: I see… Let me know when you’d like to get out.

saki: Ok, thank you.

saki: (Laying next to Sin-san like this… It feels so warm and safe. The sound of the ocean waves… The summer breeze… It all feels so calming…)

sin: …….. (smiling softly)

-time pass-

-resort pool, night-

saki: …Nn…Hm…?

sin: —Are you awake?

saki: Huh? S-Sin-san!?

-saki shakes the hammock-

saki: Uwah!? I’m going to fall—!?

-sin catches her-

sin: I would not let that happen. I’ve got you… Sorry, did I surprise you?

saki: N-no, it’s ok. Thanks to you being here I was able to sleep this whole time without falling to the floor.

-flashback to sin changing-

saki: (Seeing him like this… I’m reminded that Sin-san really is very…)

-flashback end-

sin: The moon reflected atop the lake’s surface carelessly forgets the blessing of the ouroboros. In the blink of an eye, it has been consumed at the bottom of the lake.

saki: Um…?

sin: …If you sleep beside a beast you may be devoured. I advise you to be more cautious in the future so that does not happen.

saki: …!? Y-yes, of course…

sin: The free spirited light is no different from an alluring sweet nectar. Those that lust over it would not allow a single drop to go unnoticed… I couldn’t just leave you on your own, as long as you permit it, I would like to protect you. Although, that depends on whether you regard me as someone that is worthy of your trust.

saki: That’s… Of course I do.

sin: (smiles) …I see. In that case I must live up to that trust.

saki: Sin-san…?

sin: The beast is shackled. You can sleep peacefully without a care tonight. —However I cannot say for sure that the shackles will still be fastened next time.
