Another boring day in Alola, just walking around the island with Luxray beside him.

Volkner completely zoned out as he walked, not really paying attention to the world around him.

until something literally hit him.

“Oof-!” The gym leader’s face kissed the dirt. Luxray jumped back and growled at the ‘attacking’ pokemon until Soleria returned the Poipole to it’s ball.

Standing up with the help of the stranger, he rubbed his head and blinked, focusing on the woman’s face as his vision cleared. Blue skin? 

“Oh, that’s alright.” Volkner gave her a soft smile. “But uh, What’s a Poipole? I’ve never heard of that Pokemon.”

“Poipole! Come back, please!”

People had to jump out of the way as Soliera chased after the Ultra Beast, heaving in deep breaths. Running in this heat in her uniform was extremely difficult to keep up for long. Why was Poipole even running from her?

To be frank, they were playing with her. Nothing wrong with a game of chase, right?

Poipole was giggling, not watching where it was going for a moment. That was long enough for them to crash into an innocent bystander.

“Oh, no no no!” Soliera skidded to a stop in front of the pile of person and pokemon, quickly returning Poipole tot heir ball. Then she helped the stranger to their feet.

“I am so so sorry! I don’t know what got into Poipole, they haven’t pulled a stunt like this in a long time…”

“Crap, did I hurt you?” Volkner withdrew his fist. “Sorry man, It was supposed to be gentle. Yknow, a like a bro-punch.”

Blinking twice, the gym leader glanced around. He didn't show any emotion, as if it was only a mild inconvenience. Still, the man was curious.

"Who threw that?" Volkner asked out to the wind, voice flat as ever.

Spotting a distracted-looking Volkner, Lucas saw the perfect opportunity to strike. He aimed at the Gym Leader’s forehead and threw a snowball at him before scuttling off to hide behind a snow pile, hoping to get a rise out of his target.

This has been on my mind for long but I’m gonna do this - please reblog this if you’re comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean “met at the grocery store two weeks ago” or “have a common friend”, but rather stuff like “have been best friends since kindergrden”, “go for a beer every friday”, “friends with benefits”, “dated in highschool”, “hate each other’s guts because -insert reason-”  etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction.
