She Don’t Have To Know
When I meet you, I got my shades on to cover up my eyes I'm hoping that nobody sees me passing by Through my disguise I still know you recognize
But you I know you got a little secret of your own Sneaking out with me while your man’s at home You know you’re wrong but it’s so strong still carrying on
Pairing: Yugyeom x OC
Genre/Warnings: Angst, Fluff, Mentions of Cheating, Minor Age Gap, College AU
Prompt/Inspiration/Description: Stolen moments are always dangerous and sweet, but they won’t have it any other way.
Notes: Blame John Legend for getting me inspired on a rather boring day. This is probably one of the longest things I’ve written in a while. I didn’t even know it would end up like this, and it honestly drained me emotionally. Haha! Also, Yugyeom makes me feel things lately. He’s not even my bias but I ended up writing something longer for him than for Jaebum? How rude, Yugyeom.
The engine purred as he stepped on the pedal momentarily, desperate to speed out of the school parking lot. Sun was starting to peak out of the morning sky, illuminating everything around them. He was revving up the engine of his car as the two of them got ready on the front seats, both their faces still pale and eyes still tired.
Ara stifled a yawn as she focused her attention on the spanning yard in front of her. The school grounds were bare and empty, save for the maintenance staff who walked across them a few moments ago. It was too early for anyone to be around the area, but they both liked it better this way. Away from the prying eyes of the masses who always had too much to say about anything and everything.
“I wonder how you made it out of there without waking him up,” Yugyeom murmured as he adjusted the rear view mirror to match his line of sight. Half of his face was partially covered by the baseball cap he was sporting, making her wonder how he’s able to see anything clearly.
She laughed a little, but the expression on her face remained the same-- blank and unreadable. “He went out with his friends last night-”
“Drunk again, of couse,” he commented. “I still can’t understand why you’re staying with him, Ara.”
“Hey now,” she shushed him with a gentle pat on his arm. “Let’s not get into that so early in the morning. We’re going to have fun today, remember?”
She watched as his tensed figure started easing up little by little. His sudden outburst left her a bit surprised, but sometimes, Ara couldn’t help but attribute it to his youth. He was still at that point of his life where emotions run extremely high, overpowering his logic and reasoning. The least she could do was to understand him like she always does.
“Yeah, sorry. I’m quite cranky in the morning,” he blushed. “I promise, I’ll behave today.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” she smiled softly as she looked at him through her amber lenses. It wasn’t a particularly bright day in autumn, but people like her had to hide among the shadows of a clear sky if she wanted to be happy even for a while. “Shall we go?”
He only nodded in response, a grin plastered on his face. Yugyeom’s boyish features still had its way of taking her breath, no matter how many time she looked at him. There was always something fascinating that she would find in him, from the way his eyes wrinkle when smiled, to the beauty mark resting just below his eye.
Yugyeom himself was a revelation to her.
The engine revved up once again and shortly, they were driving along the roads of Seoul. Figures and buildings around her were in a blur, as the car dashed down the street like a speeding bullet. Maybe it was better this way. Maybe, if she and Yugyeom would hurry past all those faces, it would keep the pretence that they were in their own little perfect world. That there will be no eyes to look at them questioningly and no hushed voices asking why they are seated inches apart with his hand casually resting on her thigh.
"Something bothering you?" the young man asked, pulling her out of her reverie.
She smiled at him like she always did, and then looked away. It was easier to lie to him when he doesn't see her face and when she doesn't meet his eyes. His innocent eyes had its way of pulling out the truth from the depths of her soul, like a moth being lured in by the bright light. Yugyeom always had his way of revealing sides of her that she herself could not admit.
“Nothing really,” she lied. She linked her hand to his free one while the other had its grip on the steering wheel. “Where are you taking me?”
He looked up to her face from under his fringe. “You’ll find out soon.”
The drive was pretty silent, save for the hum of the songs he played on his phone. Ara kept her gaze at the road ahead of them, purposefully avoiding the man’s gaze. She was so used to doing this, looking at him from the corner of her eyes. When you’re keeping a secret from the world, you become accustomed from stealing side glances and smiles. Going beyond that was a big risk for both of them that she did not want to gamble on.
“Gyeom,” she whispered as they reached a red light. “What did you have to tell her this time?”
His grip on the gear shift tightened a little. “Oh... Just that I’m visiting some cousins for the day.”
“And did she buy it?”
“She always does,” he was so nonchalant about it, she wondered if he even cared at all what his girlfriend thought. “She doesn’t really ask me things like that. I only told her, just in case.”
“Boram isn’t really the type you know,” he began. “Well she was when we started. But now, I think we’re at the point where we don’t really have to know what the other is doing.”
“You trust each other,” she realized.
“What? I don’t know,” he shook his head. “I can’t really call it trust, but more like it doesn’t affect the two of us what we do when we’re not together.”
Would it still apply to the situation they’re currently at once she found out, she wondered. Yugyeom doesn’t know, but she strongly believed it’s because Boram trusted him enough to let him do things freely.
Her heart ached a little at the thought of betraying someone’s trust, especially one that thought of her highly. Boram was a good kid, this she knew for sure. The young woman respected her as a professor and did well in her class. It was such a shame that she had to do this to the girl behind her back. If she ever found out, would she still look at her the same?
She probably wouldn’t. But what difference does it make, anyway? She herself could not look at her own reflection in the mirror without that bitter taste of disgust lingering on her tongue.
“Weren’t you the one who said we’re going to have fun today? Why are you suddenly asking me about her?”
Ara could only bite her lip at that. He was right. And what was it to her anyway? This day was supposed to be all about her and Yugyeom. It was meant to erase all the thoughts and worries that their real lives brought to them. Today, nothing else should matter but the castle that she built for the two of them in her heart, even if it’s only make believe.
He brought her hand to his lips, placing a light kiss, before holding on to the shift again as the light turned green. “It’s only you and me now. They don’t have to know.” A lifetime of silence and countless stop lights later, they finally arrive at their destination. He drove her all the way up to the Fairy Tale Village in the next city. Her eyes grew wide at the realization. “Oh my God, Gyeom!” she exclaimed as she watched the colorful buildings ahead of them while Yugyeom looked for a place to park the car on. “You kept your promise!”
“Don’t I, always?” he answered cheekily. “I know everything’s been stressing you out, especially now that it’s almost exam week so I thought-”
His words were cut off as she planted her lips on his. With Ara’s arms wrapped around him, they suddenly got lost in each other again. A familiar and comforting feeling seeped through her chest as she let herself melt in his kisses and touch. This man surely knew the way to her heart.
“Thank you,” she uttered, breaking their kiss. “I wouldn’t have guessed that at all.”
Yugyeom’s swollen lips curved into a smile, its color matched the redness of his cheeks. “A passing grade on your class will be enough as a thank you gift.”
“Only if you study enough,” she countered, playfully swatting his hand away. “Now let’s go before the place gets too crowded.”
Yugyeom was quick to get off the car and open the passenger’s seat for her. “After you, my princess.”
“How appropriate,” she grinned as she took his hand in hers, making their way towards the entrance.
A burst of countless colors welcomed them as soon as they got in. Both Ara and Yugyeom were overwhelmed by the sights that the place offered. Their eyes wandered around the colourfully lined up buildings, with each one having their own story to tell. Their hands still linked with one another as they walked down a certain path, relishing in the beauty of the place.
It was so liberating how they could roam around the place like this, hand in hand with no fear that they would run into someone who’ll recognize the two of them. People passed by them without a care as to whether it was right for the two of them to be together right then and there.
At that moment, it was easy for her to believe in the mask that they were both hiding under. It was just so easy to get lost in their web of lies. With Yugyeom smiling at her like as he threw an arm around her shoulder, it was hard not to believe that this could not be real. That tomorrow, when they wake up in their own beds, entangled under the sheets with their own lovers, these would all be mere fragments of a memory short lived.
“I love it here,” she whispered in Yugyeom’s ear as they passed by a mural so wonderfully made that she just couldn’t tear off her eyes.
He whispered right back against her hair. “You know what I love? When I see you smile like that. I love seeing you happy.”
Ara’s heart swelled at his words. It’s been so long since she heard someone say those words to her. It’s been so long since someone sincerely wished for her happiness and really cared about how she felt.
Maybe that was what’s keeping her drawn to Yugyeom. Not only does he have a way with words, but one can certainly see his sincerity shining through him. Yugyeom was a good person through and through, albeit quite temperamental at times. He knew how to make everyone around him feel wanted and cared for because he honestly felt that way for them.
Hyunsik was never like that with her, especially not within the past few years. Ever since they began dating, she was the one who was more into him. She was always the one to make a bigger effort to keep their relationship afloat, partly because she was so afraid of the fact that no one would accept her the way he did.
But Yugyeom came, and he made her realize that she was still worth every smile. That she was still worth every stolen moments and long drives, if it meant that they would be able to spend time together like any other couple would.
“Oh look,” Yugyeom pointed out to a familiar painting as they passed by. “It’s Cinderella!”
“She’s my favourite princess,” she commented. “When I was younger, I wanted to be just like her.”
Funny how she was slowly turning into Cinderella the more she stayed with Yugyeom. Just like her favourite princess, she now faced the dilemma of stealing moments with her own prince for just one dance with him. Ara could only laugh at herself with the realization. Once the clock strikes twelve, she has to go back to her life as someone else’s possession, while Yugyeom returns to his own castle not with a glass shoe, but with memories of her kisses in mind.
“Come on, let’s take a picture,” Yugyeom pulled her in front of the mural. He whipped his phone out in an instant and turned the front camera open, capturing their grins perfectly as they stood against the image of the dancing couple.
“Won’t she see that when she goes through your phone?” she wondered.
“No,” Yugyeom shrugged. He pulled her closer to him with the arm that he draped on her shoulder. “Ara, don’t think about her right now. This day is all about you.”
His words were enough to keep her from thinking about their real life for a while. Yugyeom’s right, she’s not supposed to spoil this day thinking about what lies beyond them once they go back to their old lives. For now, her focus should just be on him and what he planned out especially for her.
They walked around for a bit longer before she noticed Yugyeom looking at his watch.
“Aren’t you getting hungry already? It’s almost lunch,” he remarked.
It was only then that she realized the empty feeling in her stomach. She hadn’t eaten anything but a piece of cold loaf before she went out with him this morning. She was so excited to see him and be around him that she didn’t notice being hungry at all.
“Now that I think about it, I’m actually starving,” she confessed.
“Where do you want to go?” he asked as they made their way to the car once again. People were starting to pile up in the area anyway, and although there’s a slim chance that they might run into someone, it was better to leave now.
A faint shade of rose colored her cheeks as she spoke. “Can we just drive somewhere quiet? I want to go where there’s only the two of us.”
Yugyeom feigned surprise as he replied. “I didn’t know you want me all to yourself that badly.”
“Gyeom,” she whined. “Get your mind off the gutter, please. I just don’t want to be around so many people right now.”
“Okay, okay,” he chuckled, patting her head affectionately. “We can go and grab some burgers then park the car somewhere quiet. Sound good?”
Ara nodded in response as she buckled her seatbelt. “I like that.”
They eventually found themselves parked by the beach. It wasn’t really a place that tourists frequented, so it was just the perfect spot for the two of them. She could smell the sea breeze from their rolled down windows as they took their meals inside the car.
“…And then my uncle caught us and almost got us grounded,” Yugyeom laughed as he told her about a certain misadventure he and his cousin once had when he was in high school. She laughed along with him, almost spilling her soda on her dress as she did so.
It was so endearing the way he would share all these stories to her from his childhood animatedly. Yugyeom was always full of life and energy, and being around him always reminded her of her own youth. She wasn’t really that far older than him to begin with-just a couple of years- but with life getting in the way, it’s easy to feel worn out and stressed.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
Yugyeom questioned, breaking her thoughts. She didn’t even notice that how she stared at him so intently with all these thoughts running in her head.
“Sorry,” she blushed. “I just- It’s just cute when you speak like that.”
“Yeah, I guess it can’t be helped,” he teased. “But there’s nothing new in there. I know you’ve found me cute since day one.”
“Excuse me,” she countered. “You were the one who kept chasing me since day one. I really didn’t like you at first, if I should be honest.”
“And why?”
“Because you were too noisy and you didn’t pay attention to what I was saying,” Ara answered. She faked her annoyance at his words, but with his face grinning ear to ear, she couldn’t help but smile too.
“Be honest,” he egged her on. “What did you think of me when you first saw me?”
She pondered for a while, not really sure how to answer his question. It was the first time he’s ever wondered about things like these. From what she could remember, everything about them came without a warning. It was like she and Yugyeom just clicked one day, and after having a few bottles of soju together, they suddenly came to be.
“I never really thought of anything when I first saw you,” she admitted. “There were like 60 of you in that class. No one really stood out to me at that time. By the time you were out the door, I couldn’t even remember your faces.”
“But then you,” she continued, poking at his chest playfully. “You began bugging me. You started asking all these nonsensical questions and it annoyed me so much!”
“You know what they say: the more you hate, the more you love,” he teased. He held a french fry out to her, urging her to take a bite. “Now look where my teasing got me. I get to spend my day out with the most beautiful woman in the world.”
She couldn’t help but drop her head with his remark. Staying with Yugyeom like this, it was easy to push everything all the way to the farthest corners of her mind. But with every sweet word he uttered, they come running out again, haunting her with the reality that these are all just temporary.
There was that sinking feeling in Ara’s chest, the longer she sat beside him in the car. Was he ever like this with Boram, too? Was she seriously getting jealous of her? Maybe she was. After all, in the eyes of many, including the young woman herself, Boram was Yugyeom’s girlfriend.
And where does that leave her again? Oh right, she’s just one of his professors.
“Are you like this with Boram, too? Are you also sweet to her like this?” she couldn’t help but ask. “Do you also tell her she’s pretty?”
Yugyeom’s mood shifted instantly and it was showing in his eyes. She could easily tell that her words were already starting to get to him with the way his brows furrowed.
“Why do you keep bringing her up, Ara? She’s not here! We’re not supposed to talk about her.”
“We should talk about her,” she insisted, her voice going up a notch higher. “We can’t keep avoiding her like this. We can’t keep avoiding the truth like this, Gyeom.”
“And what do you want us to do, huh? Tell me what you want to do,” he threw right back at her. The growing frustration in his voice was so evident.
“I want you to face the truth, Yugyeom. We can’t keep hiding like this. We should stop hurting people like this,” her last words slowly fading into a whisper as she looked away from him. “Most of all, we should stop hurting each other.”
“Do you want me to break up with her? I can break up with her if you want to,” Yugyeom’s voice was full of desperation now, and it was so clear to see how confused he was of the whole situation.
“No, no, no. I’m not asking you to break up with her,” she explained. Her hand reached up against his face, and he could not help but lean in to her touch. “What I’m saying is that we need to figure things out, Gyeom. We have to face the truth, no matter how painful it is. We can never be together. We can never be happy together.”
His eyes wavered upon hearing her last words. “Are you asking me to- do you want me to stay away from you?”
Ara dropped her hands on her sides, unable to answer the young man’s question. What did she want him to do, anyway? She needed him by her side just as much as he needed her, but they couldn’t keep on doing things wrong. They couldn’t keep hiding in the shadows forever, playing a dangerous game. Yes, it might be fun and thrilling at first, but if they continue walking a dangerous path like this, someone’s bound to get hurt.
“I don’t know anymore,” she muttered, holding her face in her palms. “I don’t know what to do, Gyeom. I’m just so tired and confused.”
Her eyes searched his as she spoke. “Do you still love her? Boram?”
“I don’t know,” he sighed. “I’m not sure how I feel about her anymore. I’ve been with her for a while now so I’m used to her being around. But lately, I feel like I’m seeing her more as a friend than as my girl.”
Yugyeom dropped his burger on his lap and held both her hands in his. “Tell me, do you still love him?”
“No,” she answered certainly. “I haven’t for a while now.”
“Then why are you still with him?”
“Because it’s what I’m supposed to do,” she answered. “I ran away with him when I was young, Yugyeom. I was so blinded by my love for him that I didn’t know any better.
Now it’s been years since I’ve been living with him. I’m practically his wife. Do you think someone will still be sane enough to accept someone else’s leftovers?”
“Me,” his eyes were pleading as he spoke. “I’ll take care of you. I’ll love you for who you are, not for how other people see you.
I’ll be done with school in a year. After that, I’ll get a job and then it won’t be wrong for others to see us together anymore. They won’t see me as a boy anymore. You won’t look at me like a boy anymore.”
She slowly released her hands from his grip as tears started falling from her eyes. “It’s not as easy as you think, Yugyeom. My parents have already been scandalized enough for all the pain that I’ve caused them. I don’t think dating my student won’t make it any better.”
“Why do you even care about other people’s opinions so much?” he growled at her, his face red with anger. Even with his cap slightly hiding his face, she can see how the tears were threatening to fall from his eyes, too. “Why can’t you just think about us and not other people, Ara? Why don’t you focus on us?”
“Because it’s selfish!” she screamed right back at him. “It’s already selfish enough that we’re keeping this affair, that we’re seeing each other even if we’re both in a relationship. Don’t you think breaking up with them and running off together is too much?”
Yugyeom suddenly pulled his cap off his head and threw it in front of him in frustration.
“I’m done with this,” he spat as he opened the door of the driver’s seat and walked towards the shore. He did not spare her a single glance as he continued walking away from her.
Ara was left weeping in the passenger’s seat, taken aback by what just happened. She was supposed to have fun with him today, but with every word she let out, things turned out differently. Should it always be this hard to speak about the truth?
She watched his figure from where she sat as it got smaller and smaller, the farther he walked away. Was she ready to face a life without him soon? Will everything go back to how they used to be the moment she says goodbye to him?
All of a sudden, a thousand images flashed through her mind. She pictured how life would be like without Yugyeom in it. She imagined how dull and lifeless every single day would be without his smiles, how lying next to Hyunsik will be unbearable without Yugyeom’s messages to look forward to in the morning. He’s become so engrained into every fiber of her being that it was hard to fathom how something as simple as breathing will be like without him.
Will she let him walk away from it all now?
Ara forcefully opened the passenger door and ran through the sand to where the young man was. Yes, at some point, she knew she had to let go of him. But that day would not be today.
“Gyeom,” her unsteady voice called out to him breathlessly. Yugyeom immediately stopped in his tracks, but he did not turn to face her.
She jogged all the way to catch up to him, wrapping her arms from behind. “Can we forget that the past few minutes ever happened? I’m sorry, Gyeom. I’m so sorry.”
He finally turned around to face her, his shirt getting soaked with her warm tears. “Please don’t cry, Ara. We’re supposed to have fun, remember?”
Ara fell down on her knees as her sobs rang through her, Yugyeom swiftly catching her in his arms. She doesn’t think she’ll be able to live without him at all. Not anytime soon.
“Stay with me, Gyeom. Please,” she whispered through her sobs.
A small smile made its way to the young man’s lips as he fought his own tears. “I will never leave you. We can stay like this. They don’t have to know.”
She immediately threw her arms around him, not wanting to let go. Sure, once the day is over, the two of them will go back to hiding in the shadows again, stealing moments so they could be together. But while they’re still there, caught in their own little world that they made for the two of them, they could pretend that nothing and no one ever existed.
In their own little castle, Yugyeom was her prince, and they will live happily until the clock stuck twelve.

Don’t Look Back
Pairing: Bambam x OC
Genre: Angst
Notes: This was something I wrote years and years ago for someone and found hidden beneath my pile of unfinished stuff. Since I made this when I was a lot younger, the style’s quite different and it might not make that much sense, but I missed this so I’m posting it here. I haven’t really gone into editing it yet (I will, when I have the time!) so there must be some errors here and there. Sorry!
He had witnessed them all.
The curving of her lips when she gives her sweetest smile. The flowing of her shoulder-length golden hair as she stood against the breeze. The blushing of her round cheeks when she wasn’t so sure of herself. The slight trembles she gets when they hold each other’s hands. The playful tone of her voice whenever she asks him something she knows he might not agree with, but would eventually give in to. And most especially, those bright eyes that cannot seem to hide what her soul would like to keep to itself.
He had seen it all.
He had watched her every move and had admired all those little quirks she’s got. She may be a bit older than him, but when it comes to her actions, she felt like someone a lot younger than what she truly is.
Looking back on everything, he thought she was perfect. She is still perfect. If only he was smart enough to notice it that time, he wouldn’t have been seating here in front of the TV, looking helplessly at the perfection that had once been his.
He knew he was the one who made the wrong move first. She only followed suit when she realized all her efforts to become the best in his eyes wouldn’t pay off.
---
“Hey,” she would cheerfully say when he would answer the phone. “What is my Prince doing?”
“Shooting the CF,” he would bluntly say. “Listen, I’m really busy right now and I really can’t talk. How about you wait for my call later?”
There was a sense of urgency in his voice. And sadly, she’s already gotten used to it. “Got it. You take care, okay? Oh, and tell the members I said hi. I’ll wait for you.”
And they would hang up.
She would sit on her couch for hours-whenever she’s not busy with her own schedule- waiting for his call. Even when it feels like her schedule is so jam-packed that there’s barely enough room to breathe, she would wait for him. He said he would call. He’s not one to flake, right? And then she would wait more. And then she would wait much longer until she wakes from her slumber a few hours later, without any sign from him whatsoever.
---
Everyone’s already warned her about it. It’s still too early to get married, seeing that they’ve only known each other for approximately six months. But she didn’t listen to them. After all, she is Kang Seri, the most strong-willed girl who has ever set foot on this earth. And he is Bambam, the most perfect being in her eyes.
“You know Seri, I’ve got a bad feeling about this Bambam guy you said you’re dating,” her older sister told her once when they were out for a cup of coffee. “You said he’s an idol, right?”
She remembered answering softly. “Yes, he’s in Got7,” was all that she managed to say.
“And how long have you known this person?”
She mentally counted backwards up to that time when they were first set up on a blind date. “About five months already.”
Don’t you think it’s too early, her sister had said. But much to her dismay, Seri’s already shut out all the possible barriers for their life-long plan. She was going to get married to him, no matter what.
---
“You said you would call,” she reminded him as soon as the front door shut.
He wouldn’t look at her as he removes his shoes in the foyer. “I was too busy.”
Her big eyes had been all watery now, but hiding in the dimly-lit living room made it go unnoticed. “Have you eaten dinner yet? I made your favorite pasta in case you’re hungry. I’ll reheat it for you.”
He removed his coat and left it on the hanger. “The director had food delivered. How about you? Have you had your dinner already?” At least he was still nice enough to ask her that.
“Not yet. “
“Didn’t I tell you not to wait for me to eat your meals? Look at how skinny you are now, Seri.” His voice went a notch higher and she could tell it annoyed him.
She wanted to yell at him and tell him that today was supposed to be a special day; the day they first met each other. However, she kept her lips pursed. He was tired, and so was she. The last thing she wanted was to end the night with another argument.
“I’m sorry.”
But she was already talking to thin air as Bambam’s already left for the bedroom.
---
He knew he was a douche for doing that. And up until now, he can never explain why Bambam, one of the nicest members of Got7, became the kind of a husband that he was. If only he believed in what others are telling him.
“Haneul’s been telling me things, Bambam.” He looked up from his place to see Jaebum staring straight at him. The other members were there to witness the whole thing, too.
“Really? What did she say?” he answered, not really interested in what his leader’s thoughts are. He continued playing with his phone.
The other members were silently watching the two of them, careful not to intervene. Jaebum’s face was still unreadable.
“It’s about Seri.”
Bambam’s eyebrows rose for a moment, obviously shocked with what he heard. He was quick to cover it up, though. “What about her?”
What happened next felt like a blur. The next thing they knew, Jaebum was already clenching Bambam’s collar; face red with anger.
“What the hell is wrong with you, huh? Do you think trying to treat her right would make you less of a man?! You’ve been hurting her all this time and that is not how you should treat your girl!” The members surrounded the two of them, trying to break them apart.
Bambam was already mad as well. “Get out of our fucking business! She’s my wife! I can do whatever I want with her and you don't have a fucking say on anything!”
With that, he pushed the leader away and stormed out of the room.
He treated her as a thing, not as a person. Being a man’s possession was what he thought a wife should be. For Bambam, Seri was a woman who had to submit to him while he makes decisions about his life on his own.
Bambam failed to see through her pain and suffering. The lights of his fame blinded him, and he lost sight of what once was a beautiful union of two people who sincerely loved and cared for each other. He forgot what he promised her when they got married-- that he would stick with her through whatever, whenever. When life came between them, he began drifting apart from her, instead of bringing her along through his journey.
In the process, Bambam’s world no longer included the person whose life centered around him.
---
It all dawned on him one night, when he found himself down on both knees, praying for some divine intervention to happen and undo what’s already been done.
The living room was usually dimly lit, but that night it felt different; like it would remain dark and cold from then on. Bambam went to his usual routine of leaving his shoes in the foyer and hanging up his coat when he felt like the air was a little too quiet and stiff.
“Seri,” he called out. Much to his surprise, no one answered him. “Seri, are you there?”
He knew something was not right.
Reaching for the switch, Bambam hurriedly lit up their little living room only to find no one waiting for him. “Seri!” He was already annoyed.
He went to look for her in the kitchen and in the little balcony their apartment had. There was no trace of her anywhere and it made him shiver. Now there’s only one place left…
Opening the door carefully, he silently prayed to see her inside the bedroom. Suddenly, he felt like his knees were about to give up. This wasn’t happening to him, to them. The idea of Seri leaving him is next to impossible.
The lights opened and he found nothing but the cold, empty queen-sized bed waiting for him. He scurried to their walk-in closet and found her side to be empty.
He went back to the bed again and saw what he was dreading to find. Not once did he imagine himself seeing something like that: a thin pile of papers with formal words smeared across them. A tear unconsciously made its way down his cheek.
That’s when he knew it was over.

Here is Bambam, two years after the night that changed his life forever, sitting quietly inside a waiting room of a famous TV station. Stylists and managers are bustling inside the cramped area, hurrying for the big production that’s about to start in approximately 30 minutes. Yet for Bambam, it felt like the room was empty and he was alone. His eyes were glued on the TV, focusing on the show that was playing right before him.
“And for our star weekly updates: Kang Seri to tie the knot with her non-celebrity partner.”
The screen suddenly flashed Seri’s face and a familiar wave of pain shot right through his veins again.
“So is it true?” the reporter asked. “Are you really engaged to him now?”
He stared at his former better-half’s face intently, looking for any signs of hesitation or resistance. To his defeat, he found none. Only happiness and contentment can be pictured from her.
“Yes, I am.”
“What about your ex-husband, Bambam of Got7? Does he know about this already? What was his reaction?”
She was calm as she answered each questions laid upon her. “I believe he hasn’t heard about it yet. Either that, or maybe he doesn’t really care at all.” She had answered with a little laugh.
“So does this mean you and your former husband are not in good terms? What can you say about your past relationship with him?”
“To be honest, I am not in the right place to say whether we are in good terms or not. All I can say is that we haven’t really talked for about two years now. I have no hard feelings for him, though. It isn’t really in my character to keep such things at heart.”
“The only thing I can say about him and our past relationship was that I was genuinely happy at one part. But you know, you come across some things halfway through the trip and then you realize you have taken the wrong route. That’s when you take a turn back and start anew. I’m hoping he’s gotten to the route that he’s supposed to take and that he’s happy now, ‘cause I already am.”
Bambam knew Seri’s always been a smart woman and she’s been right about a lot of things. But for this one time, she got something wrong.

Quote
Find meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesn’t have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesn’t have to be a walk during which you’ll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or don’t find meaning but “steal” some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn’t make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be.

Bed Peace
We should stay right here
We should lay right here
‘Cause everything is okay right here
Pairing: Jaebum x OC
Genre: Fluff
Prompt/Inspiration: Bed Peace- Jhene Aiko and Childish Gambino
Notes: I’ve been so tired at work lately that I couldn’t help but wonder, “how would it feel to come home to someone and just tell them about your day?”. I had a totally different ending in mind when I first wrote this, but it just naturally went that route. Hah.
Oh, and who doesn’t love a fluffy Jaebum?
The light from the fridge shed brightness onto their dark kitchen. It was almost 4 and she was supposed to be asleep, but she could not keep her mind off that slice of strawberry shortcake she took home after a long day at work. Crouching slightly so she’s on eye level with the bottom shelf, she reached a hand inside the fridge, grabbing the tiny box that stored her guilty pleasure.
She then quickly plopped down on one of the table stools by their kitchen bar, grabbed a fork and happily dug into her dessert. Layers of fluffy cake, strawberries and cream melted in her mouth and she could not help but sigh in delight. It was just pure heavenly bliss, the way they tickled her taste buds and satisfied her cravings so easily.
It was funny how every little quirk Jaebum has slowly rubbed off on her, from the way he would stack his clothes in the closet to grabbing midnight snacks before getting to bed. Maybe it really was true what people say—you become a mirror image of your significant other the longer you stay in a relationship with them. She used to eat light meals when she was living alone, but after moving in with Jaebum, she eventually adapted his eating habits as well.
“Where could he be,” she wondered aloud as the thought of him crossed her mind. Jaebum told her earlier that day how he’s only going to stay at the venue for the whole day and fly back home to Seoul once the concert’s over. He was actually quite sad at the thought as he wanted to stay a bit longer so he could roam around and take pictures like he always does. She then made a mental note to check flight prices to where they are right now in the coming months so she can probably surprise him with a little trip once he has time to go on vacation.
The shirt she was wearing- the one he wore to bed before he left earlier that day- still smelled of him. It became a habit of hers to wear his clothes whenever she would miss him and tonight wasn’t any different. Jaebum had been away for quite a while as the team completed the North and South American leg of their tour and was only home for a few days before continuing the remaining ones. The album preparations would probably take most of his time again within the coming weeks so she had to prepare herself for more days of wearing his shirts just so she could feel him beside her.
Her phone suddenly lit up and rang, telling her a message just came in. She excitedly reached out for it, knowing all too well who it was.
“Hi, babe. I’m sorry the flight was a bit delayed. I’m coming home in a few.”
A little smile made its way to her lips. After all this time of being with him, she must admit that his messages still made her feel all the butterflies in her stomach. His smile and touch still made her heart do backflips and somersaults. There was really just something with this man that keeps her coming back for more.
“It’s okay, my love. I bought some strawberry shortcake on my way home. I’ll be saving some for you.”
“Awesome! I’m on my way now. Can’t wait to see you.”
“Me, too.”
A few minutes later, she heard some shuffling by the door, followed by the sound of someone keying the password in. She felt her cheeks heat up in anticipation. Finally, Jaebum has arrived.
“I’m home,” he called out by the hall. She can definitely hear a faint trace of exhaustion behind his sweet voice. But knowing Jaebum, he was definitely making an effort to hide it all in.
She honestly couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Being the leader of a famous group surely takes its toll on him sometimes. But what can she do? Jaebum loved his craft so much, and asking him to slow down won’t just cut it. All that she can do for him was to be his pillar of support, especially on days when he cannot even carry himself.
“I’m right here by the kitchen, babe.”
It took all of her will power to stop herself from jumping into his arms the moment she saw his beautiful smile.
“You look beautiful in my shirt,” he commented, a faint shade of rose coloring his cheeks. “You always do.”
“Come here. I told you I’ll save some cake for you,” she said, patting the stool right next to her.
His smile grew wider as he sat down beside her, his arm snaking around her waist automatically, like it had always belonged there.
“Did you miss me?”
“I could ask you the same,” she threw right back at him. “I didn’t hear from you the entire day.”
She saw how his eyes flickered at her words. Of course she didn’t mean to make him feel guilty in any way, but she also knew how bad being away from her made him feel. He wasn’t particularly clingy, but Jaebum would always remark how little the times that they spend with each other were.
“Come on,” she elbowed him playfully as a grin spread across her face. “I was just kidding. I know how busy you guys are with the tour. Ease up a little!”
He could only laugh at her sheepishly. “I thought you’re seriously upset.”
“No, I will never be,” she answered, holding out a forkful of cake for him to feed on. “I understand you, my love. Always.”
They sat in silence as they finished what remained of the cake she brought in earlier. It was moments like these that she treasured the most—just being around one another and knowing that their hearts are beating in tune without even uttering a word. Maybe that’s how it really felt like to find your soul mate, that one person who fits all the jagged edges of your life perfectly.
Soon, the two of them emptied out the container, their tummies full and satisfied. They stood up from the counter and started cleaning up, preparing themselves for bed.
She watched his figure as he emerged from the shower, hand still holding the towel as he dried his hair up. Sleep was starting to creep up on her as she felt her lids get heavier by the minute. Today had been quite a long day, but she did not want to give in to her tiredness just yet. Tomorrow, Jaebum would be heading early to the studio again and would probably be locked up in there until the wee hours of the morning. She wanted to savor this moment of being around one another before they let their personal lives take over them once again when the day breaks.
Rolling a little on her side, she watched as he sat with his back against her, the bed dipping a little with his weight. He eventually laid on his back, scooting close to her as he tucked himself under the blankets.
She was caught in surprise when Jaebum suddenly leaned in closer, laying his head on her chest. A soft giggle escaped her lips as she wrapped her arms around him. It had been quite a while since he cuddled up to her like this. Usually, he would just drape an arm on her waist, pulling her close to his chest.
“Admit it,” she teased. “You missed me, right?”
Like a little kid, he coyly looked up to her face through his lashes, and then buried his face on her chest again. She just couldn’t help but smile at this.
To many people, he was that strong and dependable leader of the band, the one who put the chaos that was his 6 brothers in order. But behind closed doors, Jaebum was nothing but a pure soul, an untainted heart with nothing but affection and love that he sometimes find hard to show.
“Tell me about your day,” she whispered against his hair. “How was the show?”
He quietly began his story, chuckling a little at the mention of his band mates who more often than not drive him to wits end with their crazy antics. It always warmed her heart the way he spoke of his music like it was the only thing that mattered in his world. Jaebum has so much passion inside of him that she can almost see his soul light up at the mention of the thing that sets his heart on fire.
“What about you?” he asked her this time, looking up into her eyes again.
“Oh you know, the usual,” she remarked. “I almost got yelled at today by my boss, nothing big.”
The concern in his eyes grew bigger upon hearing her words. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I tried calling you earlier, but I guess you were busy,” she explained. “But hey, don’t worry about it. It was just a big misunderstanding after all.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were having a bad day,” he murmured against her chest.
She had to laugh a little at him again. “I was. But then I saw your face earlier and I thought, hey, this life wasn’t so bad after all.”
“I love you,” he uttered, the last word almost fading into a whisper as sleep crept up on him.
“I never forget that,” she answered. “Go to sleep now, my love.”
With that, she felt his body relax against her touch, his breathing gentle and even as he drifted off to dreamland. She could not help but let out a sigh- of both contentment and bliss- knowing that this right here, this was her idea of heaven. And with Jaebum in her arms, nothing else mattered. It was just him and her.

I’ve always only been able to love people for the bad, for the secrets in their palms, for the matching knives in our backs, for the bitterness they hold onto like a lifeline, but I loved you for the good. Until I got a taste of something darker. You can take the monsters away from the girl and take the girl away from the monsters but you can’t take the monster out of the girl. I would have loved the delicate way you tore me open, been awed by the beauty of it, if I didn’t so desperately want to keep your soft pieces soft. Not everyone should have razor blade skin. I thought you understood that. I hoped at the very least you would jolt me into caring about myself, but all I could think about was a more elegant way to come undone. It isn’t your fault I’m not whole, but within my brokenness there was love, and now I don’t know if I can stomach giving it to anyone else.

Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?
Now it's three in the morning
And I'm trying to change your mind
Left you multiple missed calls
And to my message you reply
Why'd you only call me when you're high?
Pairing: Jaebum x Female OC
Genre/Warnings: Angst, Mature (?), Swearing
Notes: This is part of something else I’m planning to write but can’t get myself to just yet. Also, this was inspired by the song of the same title. :)
The streets were damp, smell of rain still fresh in the air as she made her way down the street. Her boots tapped to the rhythm of her heart and broke the silence enveloping her. Lone walks in the wee hours of the morning had always been her thing. It was a trick she’d mastered to help her gather her thoughts clearly. The empty alleys and orange lights illuminating the hilly roads of Seoul had always been her companions when being around people was just too much for her to handle.
A few minutes down and she eventually found the place she’s been looking for. Her feet parked right in front of an inconspicuous red gate, lined up amongst old apartments and little shops which all have retired for the day. She decided to lean by the gate, against the brick wall that was probably older than the outdate calendar her grandma left hanging by the kitchen wall at home. It would’ve been nice if she could let herself in. After all, her shoes have been killing her since earlier tonight and all she wanted was to get out of them. If only she had the keys.
A shiver went up her spine as the wind blew, swaying the branches of the tree standing just a few houses down. She mentally scolded herself for leaving her coat at home as she looked down on the thin shirt she was wearing. The air had started getting cooler than the summer breeze that called for short skirts and dresses. In an attempt to give herself some warmth, she wrapped her arms around her, silently praying that the gate will open soon so she doesn’t have to suffer in the dark any longer.
Her shaky hand snaked its way down the front pocket of her jeans, fishing for her phone. She wasn’t sure if her phone did vibrate- signalling an incoming message- or if it was all a figment of her imagination. Letting out her breath in a big huff, disappointment hit her upon learning that he hadn’t replied to her at all.
She slid her finger across the screen, scanning through the messages she sent him earlier. It wasn’t like her to bombard him with texts, especially when he wasn’t the one to text first.
Yes, she was abiding to that rule most girls play by.
Since this whole thing with him started, she made a promise to herself not to reach out to him unless he does it first. After all, she did not want to make him feel like he was needed or she was desperate for him despite the fact the she was.
She always was.
Tonight wasn’t supposed to be the night that she would break herself free from her restrictions, but the events that led her to where she was currently standing got her so wound up that she eventually felt the need to.
“I’m here. Can you see me? I’m sitting by the bar.”
“You said you wanted me to watch your set. Well I’m here now.”
“Can we talk by the restrooms for like 5 seconds?”
“Why are you not answering? I know you can see this.”
“Big fucking wow, Jaebum. You really want to do that right in front of me?”
“I bet you liked her in that little dress, huh.”
“Fuck it, I’m out. Meet me at the studio if you still want to talk.”
Everything was as clear as a summer day as they unfolded in front of her inside the dingy club. The way Jaebum looked at her and then pretended that she wasn’t there. The looks he gave the girl who stood just beside him inside the DJ’s booth. The sparkle in his eyes the moment he took his phone out and found a slew of messages from her. The sly smile that made its way across his face as he casually draped an arm over the other woman’s shoulder. It drove her almost to the gates of burning hell as she let jealousy engulf her whole being.
Jaebum knew this game would definitely kill her and so he played it exceptionally well. After all, it was her fault that they haven’t been talking for days now after she got him engaged into a stupid fight that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. She knew damn well that Jaebum wasn’t going to give in to her that easily, the moment she received his text inviting her to watch his gig with his crew. However, she sure didn’t expect to be tortured like this.
A flash of bright light suddenly caught her attention, distracting her from her own thoughts. Suddenly, she felt a wave of heat course through her veins as she heard the own beating of her heart loudly in her ears. An all-too-familiar car drove right past her and eventually came to a halt a few meters away.
A quick flash of memories crossed her mind as she stared at the car from where she was standing. That car bore witness to the fervent kisses he would trail down her neck. It listened to all the words she softly whispered in his ears as she laid down on his chest in the back seat, watching the moon as it illuminated the dark city skies.
Her throat tightened at the thought of him sharing the same seats they would tangle themselves on during their stolen moments to any other woman. Would Jaebum feel the same, cradling and touching someone else on the same passenger seat where she once smeared her lipstick on ? Would he be playing the same songs and hum them to another, the same way he would as he drove her home?
It made her heart ache upon thinking that as much as she wanted to, nothing inside that car would belong to her permanently—the memories, the seats, him. She sighed at the realization that Jaebum can do just the same with any other person he wanted, and she had no say in it.
A tall and strong figure emerged from the car and even in the dark, she can almost outline every inch of him. The sight of his strong shoulders made her feel like coming home. All she wanted was to wrap her arms around his waist, burying her face against the crook of his neck. She craved his touch and his smell that was so uniquely his. God, she missed him so badly, it was almost reeking from every inch of her entire being.
But no matter how much she did, there was no room for her to be soft and to show it. Jaebum played her heart out so bad tonight, and giving in to his stupid little game would just make a total fool out of her.
“It’s cold,” he pointed out to her as he inched closer and closer. “Why aren’t you wearing a jacket?”
She struggled to form a response as she marvelled at this perfection right in front of her. “I don’t know. I guess I forgot.
Jaebum pulled his backpack up front and zipped it open. He took out a neatly folded denim jacket and drapped it over her narrow shoulders.
“Don’t take it off,” he instructed as he fished out the keys from his pocket and started opening the gate to his place. “You could’ve called me, you know? I would’ve come here sooner.”
She wanted to laugh at what he just said. Was he seriously telling her these things? He wouldn’t even do so much as send a random letter when he was getting flooded by her texts earlier and now, he’s telling her she should’ve called?
“Of course I wouldn’t want to disturb you. I saw you were having a moment with the blond girl earlier,” she replied, sarcasm dripping off of every word that escaped her.
An unreadable expression flashed across Jaebum’s face as he stopped on his tracks. He stared straight right through her with so much intensity that she felt her heart doing those damn somersaults all over again. It was just so unfair how his slightest gestures would send her to heaven and then back.
“What are you trying to say?”
It took all the strength of her entire existence not to give in to his trap. She knew this all too well. She knew how much Jaebum loved all the mind games they played with one another. He craved for the adrenaline rush that came with knowing that he’s winning her bit by bit and that he got her all wrapped up in his little finger once again.
“Are you jealous?”
“No,” she answered curtly. She was suddenly thankful for how dark the night was, or else it would all be too clear for Jaebum to see how her cheeks have turned into a bright shade of pink and how her mouth quivered a little as she talked. “Why would I be?”
He smiled but it did not reach his eyes. “Good.”
Good, because you have no right to, she thought to herself. These were probably the words that Jaebum chose not to let go of. Of course, she did not have any right to be jealous. After all, jealousy was only reserved for people who held hands in public and kissed in the daylight. It wasn’t for those who hid in the dark shadows of Seoul’s landscapes, stealing glances in a sea of strangers who had no clue what they did behind closed doors.
Jealousy and possessiveness weren’t something that rightfully belonged to her.
Jaebum ushered her as she made her way to the glass door that leads to his studio, his sacred place. Closing the door right after they got in, he plopped onto his favourite seat as exhaustion suddenly took over him.
She stood stiffly near the door, eyes never leaving him as he melted into his seat. Noticing this, Jaebum stood up and closed in the distance between the two of them.
“Talk to me.”
It wasn’t a request; it was a demand. Jaebum wanted to wring her dry of answers. He wanted her begging on her knees so bad for him that she’ll get all bruised up and she won’t be able to walk for days. He wanted assurance from her that she was his through and through. He wanted her to say that she was jealous and that no one has the right to touch him like that or smile at him like that.
He wanted to hear from her sweet little lips that there was no one else but him.
“Why should I even do the talking? Weren’t you the one who called me over in the first place?”she challenged. “Last thing I remembered, I told you we’re through.”
If she was being true to herself, she would’ve given in to him as soon as he made his way out the car. But tonight, she wanted to make things different. Maybe it was due to the fact that her veins were still swimming in alcohol from all the tequila shots that came pouring as soon as she plopped down the bar. Or maybe, it was due to the fact that he playing around with her right in her face slapped her with the reality that he can disappear from her life anytime he chose to.
But most probably, it may be because she wanted to make herself believe that there was at least an ounce of her being that was sane enough not to drown in him.
He inched closer and closer to her, until she found herself backed up against the door. Jaebum’s body was hovering over her, sending her into a complete frenzy.
“Tell me,” he said, his voice low and raspy and his breathing ragged. “What’s gotten you all worked up like that?”
She wanted to avoid his deep brown eyes and how the light danced in them as they held hers in with so much intensity. “Nothing.”
His deep chuckle rang through her ears, like the melodies his slender hands would play on his piano, making her almost melt in her place. The way his eyes darkened with every breath he took got her weak in the knees. She knew he wanted her just the same as she craved for him.
Jaebum inched closer, the closest that their bodies would let them, and dropped his head on the same level as her ear. She felt every inch of her shiver at his velvety voice, goose bumps covering her skin.
“Are you sure you’re not jealous, even if I whisper to her like this?”
She swallowed the lump that was starting to form in her throat. Her heart was racing a mile a minute, the beats ringing in her ears loud and clear.
“No.”
He only hummed in response as his hands slowly travelled down her body, leaving every inch of her skin burning with desire. This man sure knows how to play his cards, and he’s playing them all right.
As he reached the hem of her shirt, he snaked both hands inside them, touching her bare skin directly. He caressed her sides ever so delicately and she was unable to control the sigh of pure bliss that fell from her lips. His fingers were warm, in contrast to her cold body, and she could not help but lean closer as he traced patterns on her skin.
“Won’t you get jealous if I touch her like that?”
It was as if her body and mind were both betraying her at the exact same time. Her legs almost gave in as she grew weaker and weaker by the minute, listening to his sharp breathing. Her mind, on the other hand, had long been lost in an endless ocean of him—his touches, his smell, his taste. She was swimming in a pool of his memories and was slowly drowning in it.
“I- I won’t,” she choked.
She felt her body set ablaze when Jaebum suddenly went down her neck, trailing light kisses and teasing the sensitive spot just below her ear. He definitely knew that would be her undoing, having done this to her countless and countless of times. He knew every single thing that would make her melt in a pool of mess that is him. He has memorized every inch of her existence and has seen all her flaws. Jaebum just knew every part of her, and it made her feel worse knowing that the only person who was able to tear her walls down was also the same person that she couldn’t claim.
Jaebum never failed to make her feel like it’s always her first time. He has his way of treating her like a budding rose opening up to become a beautiful flower. There’s just something about him and the way he does things that would make her discover something new about herself every single time.
There’s just no escaping the tangled web that she and Jaebum have created for themselves no matter how hard she tried. It was like being caged in a room full of mirrors. Every step she took only led her to the same spot—in his arms.
“So you really won’t get jealous even if I kiss her like this?” he whispered lowly. His voice was a dead giveaway that Jaebum was also drowning in desire. He wanted this just as much as she did and that made the burning sensation in her core grow even bigger.
I want him and I want him now.
“Goddamn it, Jaebum,” she hissed as she suddenly pushed Jaebum against the wall, unable to contain her feelings any longer. It was already too much of a game for her, and all she wanted to end up in was in his sheets, legs and arms tangled with one another. All she needed was his kisses on her lips, and his voice whispering all the lustful words she knew he loved telling her over and over.
She attacked him with a forceful kiss, unable to resist the surge of emotions that she was trying so hard to hold in the whole night. The moment she felt the warmth of his tongue and the tenderness of his touch, she knew she was done for. She was going to hell for sure.
Her hands made their way to his hair, and Jaebum was a bit taken aback when she unexpectedly pulled on it. A deep chuckled resonated from his chest as he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her towards the sofa.
“Good,” he uttered as he broke away from the kiss momentarily. “I would’ve been offended if that didn’t make you feel jealous.”
