This whole thing about scanning your face to prove tour age is making me remember, in 2018 while out in paris we got our wallet stolen during a particularly busy night at a lesbian bar. It was very late and with no money to buy metro tickets we were effectively stranded, but some people helped us and we ended up staying the night at a really sweet older man's place. His face was deeply scarred and he was missing an eye. We chatted on our way and he told me about his life, probably to help calm me down. He explained he had been stuck in a house fire 20 years ago and had had multiple rounds of facial reconstruction and a skin graft, but there's only so much surgery can do so he just learned to live with it. I remember he said he liked the queer bars because they're the only place people don't really stare at him.

At some point I took out my phone, and at the time I was using face unlock. This prompted him to tell me all the ways this technology doesn't work on him. How his phone selfie camera doesn't focus right because it's not a detecting a face. How he had to update his ID the old fashioned way, because the website kept rejecting his photos. And how it was becoming more and more common, and how it was making his life way harder.

This was 7 years ago, and now whenever I see this sort of technology I think of how that guy can't use it. And how house fires are pretty common, and how anything from being born this way to a skin condition to heavy tattooing can probably cause the same issue. Can these people get age verified ? Will they just lose access to all social media, which are increasingly necessary in society, if this becomes the norm ? These are people who are already driven out of public spaces due to how they look, and they're getting pushed out online too all in the interest of companies wanting more money.

i really like drawing kon’s hair but i still can’t decide between a more canon accurate straight style that hangs over his face or the fanon curly hair that has more volume, so i’m compromising for now.

also the chemistry between bernard and kon could be great and i feel is underexplored in timberkon spaces. they’ve never met in canon but trust me on this one

I've been a big fan of percy weasley centric fics for a handful of years. I have always found his character type to be particularly interesting, and I always liked the idea of him having more depth then what was portrayed in canon. There's not a lot of recent updated percy weasley centric fic rec lists, so I figured I would make my own! I'm not super familiar with tumblr as a whole (don't use it often) so i apologize in advance for any mistakes i make :) Listed in no particular order, both ao3 and alternative archive/fanfiction sites will be on the list! also i might add little notes to the fic. i hope maybe i can meet other percy weasley enthusiasts :D PS. i was originally going to organize this list by gen and romance, but honestly a really large amount of percy weasley fics include perciver, and then i got really tied up on if i would categorize the fic differently based on how important the pairing is to the story, and then i just gave up. please check the tags if pairings bother you :)!! Ben Fold's Series - (orphaned) Wherein book 7 is completely ignored because wars don't tend to happen so quickly; Percy Weasley runs a safehouse [because that's as close to administrative work as you can get in a war] Lessons Learned (Lessons Relearned) - cywscross (this fic took maybe every single percy weasley head canon i had and put it on paper. maybe my favorite depiction of the weasleys and percy ever. i think i've reread it at least ten times within the span of two weeks! covers the entirety of the first year :-)) Percy closes his eyes after another late night and opens them a decade in the past, back at the start of his fifth year, back before Percy had made any of the decisions he'd regretted later on, back before his family had shattered and learned to live with the remaining pieces, back to the beginning of an ending that might not be so inevitable after all. Am I coming out of the left field? - thepatchmatrix (note: spy percy :-) Percy Weasley sits down to write a series of letters days after Voldemort reveals himself in the Ministry. A knock at his door changes the course of his life, and maybe the course of the war. Twenty-nine - Endrina (dark fic, deals with mental health, but very interesting characterization and protrayel of the Weasleys) A story about murder, the power of writing lists, the interest of the press, the politics of the Department of Magical Transportation and the struggle of being Percy Weasley.

Percy Weasley and The Prefect Job That Isn't A Vanity Role - adiduck (book_people), joisbishmyoga (note: not a fic, more of a skeleton summarizing the idea!) In Which Prefects Have Very Specific Training And Delineated Duties, Namely Handling Exactly One (1) Dormful Of Kids -OR- Percy Is Dorm Mom To Five Boys And No One Else -OR- In Which McGonagall Pictured Prefect Oliver Wood For Two Minutes, Turned Green, And Gave Percy The Badge Despite The Sheer Number Of Responsibilities He Already Had, And It Did Not End In Disaster dawn is coming, open your eyes - Dialux (note: post final battle/war fic, covers the aftermath of Voldemort and the clean up necessary for times of peace.) You are not courageous. Your dreams have always been the bravest parts of you.

Still Standing - eleventy7 (perciver fic :-)) After the war, Percy testifies against his corrupted Ministry colleagues and is sent to the Scottish lowlands to live under the protection of a witness security program. Harry Potter Without Harry Potter - slythernim (not percy centric, but he is an important character in it and thats close enough) Suppose Tom Riddle never bothers to show mercy, and Harry Potter dies with his parents? What would that mean for the world, to have no Boy-Who-Lived to save them? ("A couple of stubborn kids" just doesn't have the same ring to it.) House of corpses - Irisen (and read the second part of this series!) Percy goes back in time. He doesn't do it to save the world, doesn't do it because he is a Gryffindor, doesn't do it to help the Order of the Phoenix defeat Voldemort. He does it because Ginny died and his shirt is still drenched in her blood. He does it because he's selfish, because he's the last one standing in a world destroyed by years of war. He does it and he succeeds.

His family, however, doesn't understand why his behaviour has changed so much. Percival Weasley: Wartime OSHA Inspector - wisekrakens (please read the other fic in the series!) Cauldron bottoms are important. No one but Percy seems to understand this, really, which makes him want to scream into the void. Cauldron bottoms are important.

A not canon-compliant character study set just before and after Percy ditches the Ministry and about his relationship with rules, inspired by some Percy meta. The Scarlet Pimpernel - Elyse3 (this is deleted on fanfiction.net, where it was hosted, but you can still find a unique formatting of it on redhen, or a paste bin version of it. imo a quintessential percy weasley spy fic!!) Percy Weasley recieves some fictional inspiration before realizing that Authority, though Authority, is not always right. Through DH, he tries to do the right thing, rescue Muggleborns without losing his life or his job, and find the right laws. Changeling - knitwrit

Is Percy crazy? A Seer? Was he attacked by a madman? Why does he have memories of things that haven't happened yet? Why doesn't his magic work the way he think it should? Percy Weasley Takes Over - lazyiguana Percy Weasley knew when to break the rules: when it suited him. good old-fashioned lover boy - aeoneskova (very much a perciver fic with a focus on their relationship. but very interesting spin on percys hogwarts career!! canon divergence :-)) Due to a slight mix-up in calculations, Percy Weasley ends up sharing his dorm with only one other person. Unfortunately, that person just so happens to be the complete opposite of Percy himself. In order to avoid the inevitability of strangling Oliver Wood by seventh year, Percy moves their beds to opposite sides of the dorm. However, over their years at school, circumstances gradually bring them closer together.

or; Percy Weasley being irritated for 7 years straight. Ironically, it’s very gay. Percy Take the Wheel - KittySmith (i dont think ive seen a single rec list or post that didn't mention this fic in some way, shape or form. a truly interesting depiction of percy, his family, and different forms of magic.) A freak accident with Arthur's enchanted Ford Anglia causes a minor explosion and a major change in the Weasley household. With Arthur in a coma and Molly having passed away, Bill and Charlie can't afford to quit their jobs and must support the family from afar. Thus, it falls to Percy to handle the day-to-day, even if he's not sure that he can. The Scarlet Serpent - TempestRising (a really interesting take on slytherin percy + the effects of the first war on hogwarts, the student population, and stigmas that form because of it.) A Slytherin Weasley. This year was shaping up to be full of surprises.

Or: Snape is a 27-year-old professor trying to save a dwindling Slytherin house after the fall of Voldemort. After years of the Hat placing fewer and fewer students into Slytherin, a drenched red-head gets Sorted out of tradition.

Or: The books might have had more unity if anyone had ever tried to see the Slytherins as anything other than evil. Percy Weasley’s Guide to Horcruxes, Postgraduate Studies, and More! - moonglxde (this is so funny. i love it. i can feel the thesis student despair seeping through every word. its so close to crack, but with an edge of seriousness that makes this fic so enjoyable!) Percy Weasley, Gryffindor's residential swot, gets into soul magic instead of politics. This proves to be one of the best strategic moves for the resistance against Voldemort. Paperwork and Pettiness: A Head Boy’s Guide to Quietly Running a School - menaka (a lovely take on hogwarts and her general sentience!)

Hogwarts runs on chaos. Percy Weasley runs on rules. Unfortunately for everyone, he just found a way to win. Armed with quills, loopholes, and an alarming enthusiasm for paperwork, Percy quietly takes over the school—one anonymous reform at a time. Secret rebellions have never been so properly documented .

What is Right and What is Easy - WinterSky101 (read the sequel fic too!!) The war hits the Ministry hard, and Percy Weasley is stuck in the middle of it.

The secret language of plants - Endrina (percy doesn't show up in the first two parts of this series, but he becomes a major player in the 3rd as a seer. It's honestly just a pretty interesting story with a lot of interesting plot points so give it a shot! very canon divergent. I think you can get away with just reading the third part of this series if you would like just the percy scenes though.) “Just… tell me. Tell me what is going on, Snape.” What was going on was that Severus Snape had no trouble tracking down one Petunia Evans, now Dursley, to a little town in Surrey where he saw how exactly she was treating her nephew. Which somehow led to last night and Severus knocking on Lupin’s door with a toddler half-asleep in his arms. The Last Something That Meant Anything - Anonymous He's never felt like he stood much of a chance.
