First of all thank you for all of that I really needed it! That was absolutely wonderful to come back to after being gone for a while 💕😂
No honestly tho, they fucked Steve’s character up when they made him leave. To me it was completely out of character. So why not make um an asshole to match! It was a lot of fun to explore that side of him honestly.
And listennnn I definitely could have given that to the reader, but at this time I was a baby writer and out of my comfort zone. Might be something I explore later tho…… 🤔🤭
Again thank you for reading I’m glad you enjoyed it! 💕💕💕

"How do you write such realistic dialogue-" I TALK TO MYSELF. I TALK TO MYSELF AND I PRETEND I AM THE ONE SAYING THE LINE. LIKE SANITY IS SLOWLY SLIPPING FROM BETWEEN MY FINGERS WITH EVERY MEASLY WORD THEY TYPE OUT. THAT IS HOW.

The novelist writes from inside. I’m rather sensitive on this point, because I write science fiction, or fantasy, or about imaginary countries, mostly—stuff that, by definition, involves times, places, events that I could not possibly experience in my own life. So when I was young and would submit one of these things about space voyages to Orion or dragons or something, I was told, at extremely regular intervals, “You should try to write about things you know about.” And I would say, But I do; I know about Orion, and dragons, and imaginary countries. Who do you think knows about my own imaginary countries, if I don’t? But they didn’t listen, because they don’t understand, they have it all backward. They think an artist is like a roll of photographic film, you expose it and develop it and there is a reproduction of Reality in two dimensions. But that’s all wrong, and if any artist tells you, “I am a camera,” or “I am a mirror,” distrust them instantly, they’re fooling you, pulling a fast one. Artists are people who are not at all interested in the facts—only in the truth. You get the facts from outside. The truth you get from inside. OK, how do you go about getting at that truth? You want to tell the truth. You want to be a writer. So what do you do? You write.

You ripped the ‘Time GPS’, as Tony had called it, from Hank’s grasp, “Y/N! What if he doesn’t want to be found?!” you stepped onto the platform shaking your head. “He doesn’t get to make that choice!” You yell, wiping tears from your eyes. You click the button on your wrist that engages your helmet, taking a deep breath, “Start the countdown, Hank,” you snap. You close your eyes waiting for the quantum realm to envelop you, “Y/N! This isn’t what he would want!” Sam was running toward the platform, screaming at you. You retracted your helmet barring your teeth as you stepped down to meet Sam in the clearing, his eyes still red rimmed and glassy. “He lost the privilege to tell us that when he left!” you were seething, as you turned back stomping up the stairs to the platform.
“Countdown, Hank. Now!”
You forgot how beautiful the quantum realm had been, it felt like it was a lifetime ago since you and the team went back for the stones. “Get ready to exit Y/N, this was the last known timestamp Steve was near,” Hank announced over the coms, you nodded to yourself as you initiated the exit.
You landed in the middle of a busy Brooklyn street, horns blaring, people yelling at you as you stood shakily, trying to get to the sidewalk. You looked down at the GPS, 1951, that can’t be right, Steve went back to Peggy, in 1945, why were you here?
“Hank there has been a mistake, I’m not in the 40’s. Somehow, I ended up in 1951…” there is no response, only static on the other end… fuck. You need to figure a way out of this mess, but first you needed to find Steve and give him a piece of your mind. You scan your surroundings looking for anything that could give you some idea of where Rogers could be. Nothing. You were out of your element here, you shook your head, this is just like being under cover in a foreign country, you just needed to get your bearings. You decided to start walking, maybe you would run into something or someone that would be able to help you.
You walked for what felt like hours, your feet were hurting from the heels your suit had given you as a disguise, and you really wanted to call it quits, there is no way to know where he could be. You stopped walking to lean against a brick wall to gather your thoughts, what if Steve wasn’t here? What if you had stumbled into a time where he and Peggy weren’t in Brooklyn? Rubbing your face with your hands, you looked around again, there had to be something… wait a minute, your eyes caught someone in the distance walking out of a telephone company… you recognized her… Peggy. Even if you hated her for being the reason Steve left, she would still be able to help you, and right now, you needed to see Steve. Standing up straight and pushing off the wall, you started to walk towards her. A hand came out of an alleyway, grabbing you by the arm, slamming you to the wall, as another hand covered your mouth, stopping you from screaming as you tried to fight the attacker off,
“What the hellare you doing here?!”
Your eyes widened as they met a shockingly agitated face, your arms fell to your sides, body all but going completely slack. You reached up tearing his hand from your face,
“Steve?!” You couldn’t believe your dumb luck. For a moment you were so happy to see him again, you forgot why you were here and when you were. But the moment he opened his mouth rage bubbled in the pit of your stomach.
He shook his head giving you a disdainful look, “Y/N, what are you doing here?! How did you even get here? Why are…” a loud slap filled the alleyway, Steve straightened, staring at you wide-eyed, mouth parted slightly,
“You left us.” Tears stung your eyes as you hissed the words, swallowing the lump in your throat. Your chest tightened, and your breathing became shallow.
Steve turned his head back to you, eyes dark, jaw set, “Y/N.” When you didn’t answer he grabbed your chin to force you to look at him, his face softening, “Y/N, you need to tell me what you are doing here, before someone else notices you.”
You took a few deep breaths to center yourself, glaring at him, “By someone, you mean Peggy.” Steve rolled his eyes, gripping your shoulders and slamming you into the wall, your head jarring, causing it to spin and knocking the air from your lungs, “I am not in the mood for games Y/N…”
“Steve?”
Both your heads snapped to the source of the voice, you blinked slowly still dizzy staring at the petite figure walking down the alley, Peggy. “Sweetheart, it isn’t what it looks like…” Steve starts, you turn your glare back on him, but Peggy only raised a brow, “And what do you think it looks like Steve? Because if someone else were to look down this alley, it would look like Captain America was threatening a civilian woman.” Peggy said matter-of-factly, you couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at the corners of your mouth. Steve’s harsh gaze found you again as he shoved away from you, letting you stumble back into the wall.
“So, I’m assuming you two know each other? From his original timeline?”
You cleared your throat ready to respond, “Unfortunately…” Steve interrupts as glares at you, if looks could kill, you would certainly be dead. You screwed your face up in disgust, stepping toward him pointing a finger at his chest, “Unfortunately?! You better watch yourself Rogers…”
“Enough! The both of you, we need to move this conversation indoors if we can’t play nicely…” neither of you moved, the anger now eating away at your composure that had already been dwindling away, “now.”
Steve swallowed hard, straightening himself before walking out of the alleyway, you stood glaring at his back when Peggy turned to follow, “You coming or not Y/N?” He didn’t so much as glance back at you, as you stumbled forward, head still spinning, this wasn’t going to go well at all…
You followed Steve and Peggy into a cute little house at the edge of the city, it was cozy, kind of like Steve’s D.C apartment, but with a woman’s touch. Peggy motioned to the couch, “Please sit... Y/N? was it?” you swallowed hard nodding, avoiding the daggers Steve was staring at you. Peggy knelt grabbing your hand, you looked awful, eyes glassy and puffy, cheeks hollowed, you were no doubt from Steve’s original future, but why were you here? “Would you like some tea? Or some water…” she asked you sweetly, giving you an understanding smile, “Peggy, you don’t have to be nice to her, there is only one reason she would be here.”
Your head snapped to Steve, “Oh? And what would the reason be Rogers? Hmm? Since you know me so well!” Steve growled in response, stepping toward you, you rose from your seat stepping around Peggy being careful not to shove her, meeting him toe-to-toe, “Go ahead Rogers, say it!”
“Steven Grant Rogers! What has gotten into you?! Why are you treating a friend like this?! She is obviously here because she needs your help, and you have done nothing but attack her,” Peggy had come between the two of you, walking Steve backwards, one hand pointing back at you and the other on his chest, his breathing becoming more even. He tore his gaze from yours, looking down at Peggy giving her a light kiss, mumbling an apology.
When he looked back at you, his expression softened, he saw the tears in your eyes, and how haggard you looked. He realized you wouldn’t have come here if you had any other choice, no matter how much you despised his decision, you would respect it. “Y/N, why are you here?”
You took a shaky breath, scrubbing your face with your hands, how were you going to tell him?
“Something happened, we aren’t really sure how or why, but…he… well...” the lock on the front door clicked, slowly opening. Your head snapped to the front door, eyes wide, you fell to your knees trembling, tears streaming down your face, “Bucky?!” you whimpered.

hey guys so apparently this is a thing a lot of people don't realise but like. if you have had writer's block/ art block for like. six months. a year. two years. that's maybe not a block. that's maybe depression. and you should maybe look into treating the source of the problem instead of just beating yourself up for not being able to write/draw. be kind to yourself and know that your struggle to create isn't based in laziness or a lack of skill or talent.
