First Post
So you’ve found my blog! Welcome my friends to my misadventures while working for the Peace Corps here in Zambia. I’m not sure how often or how much I’ll be updating this, but we can find out together. I’ll try and post as many pictures as possible as well.
Let me get you all updated on what’s been going on in the past month…
I’ve met a lot of new people and mad a lot of friends here in Zambia. Some are Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) and others are Host Country Nationals (HCNs). In case some of you don’t know, the program I am working in is called Linking Income Food and the Environment (LIFE). We will be doing a lot of conservation farming, gardening, and agroforestry. All the other volunteers and trainers here are great people, which is encouraging and helpful.
Right now I’m living in the village of Chamuka, the township of Chipembi, in the Central Province. I live with a wonderful host family, Patrick and Christina. Each day we have about 4 hours of language training and 4 hours of technical training. We’re very busy, but I don’t feel overwhelmed. Training here lasts for the first 3 months of my service.
In May, I will move to the village of Manyaana, township Mazabuka, and in the Southern Province. The language I will be learning is Tonga. I’m super excited to be here and super excited to move to my village.
