I just went and watched the trailer (not with sound yet BC I'm out) and my only complaint is I feel that it should have more visible inorganic components.

You know what I love (sarcasm)?

I love that a bunch of comments under the Murderbot trailer are complaining about it being too woke because of the diverse casting

And meanwhile over here a bunch of comments are complaining about whitewashing because of SecUnit’s casting

I get what above is saying but also:

- it's a free pattern

- yarn is multi-use, and I think several hundred dollars is a big overestimate unless you're planning on making it out of incredibly specialist yarn, which isn't necessary. Realistically most beginners are going to go for acrylic which is relatively cheap (even though I'm a natural fibres fan and would recommend them for wearables)

- it's much easier to make something you want to make than something you don't. If you want to make the jumper, then buying some needles and some yarn and having a go at the pattern with the help of a book (I recommend Stitch 'n bitch) or YouTube is only going to be good practice and not a huge investment. Will it be frustrating? Yes probably. But knitting is reversible, if it's going badly you can start again. If you find you love it, you can upgrade your needles, or buy nicer yarn. But your first project will be something you love rather than something you don't have want, won't use and sits in a cupboard somewhere.

So sure, if someone came to me saying they'd never knitted before and they wanted to do something that is complicated like this for their first project id make sure that they knew what they were getting into, and give them some tips and tricks I know. But I wouldn't say you can't do it.

Oh man I can't believe I forgot. You know that post that was like "tell me what clothes you've bought because of a character" or whatever. I searched for ages to find an adequate white cable knit sweater because of Ransom's in knives out.
