Mukilteo is a quiet, rural town in Washington state with a population of around 20 000. The tranquility of the town was disturbed when 19-year-old Allen Ivanov crashed a house party on July 30, 2016, and opened fire with a recently-purchased AR-15-style rifle, killing three and injuring a fourth. All of his victims were 19-year-olds who attended high school with Allen. Among one of his victims was Anna Bui, Allen’s ex girlfriend with whom he had recently broken up with. When he tried to reconcile, he was rejected by her. The pair met up just days before the shooting where she told him she was ready to move on with her life. On the night of the murders, Allen crept up along the house and observed Jake Long sitting by an outdoor firepit. As soon as Jake noticed him, Allen opened fire and shot him. He then entered the house, where he shot William Kramer next, but he managed to flee into a wooded area and call 911. He survived his injuries. Next he gunned down Jordan Ebner before finding his ex girlfriend and angrily shooting her a total of five times, killing her. Afterward, the gunman went to an upstairs balcony and began firing at two men below, who both managed to escape the attack unscathed. Realizing he ran out of ammunition, Allen fled the scene and was caught up by the Washington State Patrol about 90 minutes later on Interstate 5. He was apprehended, and pleaded guilty to the slayings in December 2016. On January 12, 2017, Allen Ivanov was sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
