thought to expand upon: minor disputes within holds settled with songs to a particular god; the loser being whomever stumbled or forgot a verse first. in the instance of all established verses being used, whomever creates the most new verses wins

In an AU in which Vaea takes her uncle up on his offer to leave Edgehall, it only occurs after Arl Lendon burns the vhenadhal. Coran intercepts her (and the sapling). Events from there are as follows:
Ser Hawthorne convinces the arl’s men and the elves to stand down sooner, saving many of the elves we see killed in canon.
The sapling is returned to it’s rightful place, and the arl cannot touch it.
Vaea leaves Edgehall, as the only concession the irate Lendon could get anyone to agree to. She recognizes this outcome as safest for her (and the alienage), finding that Coran’s assurances that the clan would accept her were true all along.

you have three (3) brain cells
knowledge is power. be careful of how you use it. if you ever say you're dumb i don't trust you. either you're lying or you don't use the three whole brain cells you've been blessed with

A small note about the Augur going forward: with his closeness to the spirits of his hold, he is able to pick up on others’ most significant moods. It doesn’t go to the extent of an actual spirit delving into privately held thoughts or memories, but he excels at reading a room.

“You’ve returned - without First-Thaw,” he notes, back still to his visitor. The day had seen him busy preparing one of his hold for death rites, but with the body retrieved and his work cleared away, his attention is free to shift to the elf.
And the curiosity he holds in check, as though it were a hunting bird.
“I welcome your questions. Speak.”

look the ideal future is me having a strong girlfriend/wife who can effortlessly swing a sword but i know that future means me staring at her anxiously as she does sick sword stuff and going “babe, is that safe? babe are you sure you should do that? babe please be careful. babe. babe maybe we can just stare admiringly at that sword instead”

Vaea’s grown used to Hawthorne’s embellished stories over the years, but one she can’t stand hearing (for obvious reasons) is her own. He never mentions her, of course, or even her role, and she’s never admitted how hearing it bothers her.
The tale coming up does often give her opportunity to slip away, however, and that’s the one reason she doesn’t protest.
