We know that Zuko rises with the sun but on grey autumn mornings when the clouds are fat and heavy with rain and much to thick for the dawn to break its first light, on those mornings Katara wakes first and in the dim light, under the quiet pattering against panes of glass, she brushes the raven strands from his face and lay kisses like flower petals along his skin. She never wakes the Fire Lord on these mornings, because she knows they are too precious, too few and far between. It's only on the mornings when the clouds suffocate the dawn, that she finds the stubborn prince with which she first fell in love.

Sokka: Are you sure it’s okay to bring Katara to meetings? I know you’re “together” and all, but she can be opinionated, and I know the Fire Nation- progressive as they are- still don’t look kindly on women who speak out.

Zuko: *Chuckles* on the contrary. She did exactly what this council needed to get things on track. Things have actually been relatively peaceful since she started joining 😇

Zuko opened his eyes as soon as he felt her fingers on him. A familiar sense of coolness underneath the warmth of her skin. Even without seeing her face, he would know her. As an enemy, her hands were deadly and unyielding. But as an ally, they were merciful. 

He often wondered if their souls were intertwined. How else would one explain this sense of connection? Of always meeting each other in every corner of the world, no matter what mask they wear or disguise they don? He closed his eyes then leaned in.
