I hate my curly hair so much I'll brush it for like an hour and itll he smooth as silk but in literally like one minute there's at least 10 knots wHY

BECAUSE IT’S NOT MEANT TO BE BRUSHED!! 

STOP BRUSHING OUT CURLY HAIR 2k19!!!

I hate this, because almost no one knows it. No one tells kids with curly hair how to actually take care of their hair.

You can’t treat curly hair like straight hair and expect the same results! You can’t! It doesn’t work! Curly hair gets its own routine! 

Okay, look, here’s the deal.

Your curls are… curls. They are MEANT to go together into a GROUP. They are not like straight hair which just hands out in one big… thing. Curls have groups.

By BRUSHING it, you are splitting those good-curl groups into separate strands, which, on their own, are STILL trying their goddamned best to curl, but now that they are away from their friends, they are only clinging haphazardly to each other as best as they can and creating tangles!

Here’s what brushed curly hair looks like:

See how the curl is NOT only one strand of hair? It’s a whole group!

You know how you get those nice curls?

STOP BRUSHING.Give your curls back their curl-friends!

Okay, here’s the deal - you sit down. You look at this chart. Figure out your type of curl. (guesstimate)

And now you go to this website and you read about what curly hair actually needs to thrive, and you change your routine, and you promise me that you will NEVER disappoint your curls like that again!!!! 

Basics:

1) Curly hair is damaged by heat, lack of moisture, and sulfates in shampoo. 

 - No blowdrying - use a cotton towel or t-shirt to scrunch your hair and get extra moisture out, and allow to air-dry

 - Turn down the shower temp while washing hair. I mean it.

 - Try to find a better shampoo.

2) Curly hair NEEDS moisture, and it NEEDS leave-in conditioner.

 - Use lots of conditioner.

 - Use leave-in conditioner

 - Try to use water spray over chemical setting sprays. 

3) Curly hair does not need to be brushed, only combed with a wide-tooth comb.

 - Comb the hair through with your fingers while in the shower and detangle while you have conditioner in. 

 - Comb again with a wide-toothed comb after the shower if needed

 - If you need to, use a twist of some sort to keep hair out of the way, but don’t squeeze it too much - give it room to breathe!

More tips from smarter people probably exist but that’s the basic stuff.

Biscotti to warm your heart💞💕

Difficulty: Beginner

Time: Approximately 40 minutes total, 15 prep, 25 baking

What you’ll need:

💕 a sheet pan and parchment paper

💞 a bowl and something to mix with (doesn’t need to be super heavy duty)

💕 ½ cup of vegetable oil

💞 1 cup of white sugar (positivity, sweetness)

💕 3 eggs

💞 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract (love, friendship)

💕 3 ¼ cups of all purpose flour

💞 1 tablespoon of baking powder

💕 optional- almonds (luck, prosperity)

💞 optional- dark chocolate (romance, love) OR milk chocolate (friendship, nurturing)

💖Step One💖

preheat your oven to 375 °F ( 190 °C)

mix in your bowl the vegetable oil, white sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract; when it’s mixed up it should kind of look reminiscent of apple sauce

💖Step Two💖

add in the rest of your ingredients (the flour and baking powder) and mix well, at this point if you’d like to add almonds you can, i just prefer mine without. then divide the dough in half and spread on your sheetpan so the loaves are about a half an inch thick

💖Step Three💖

this is where personal preference comes in, at this point you’re going to want to put your biscotti into the oven. if you’re turned off by the crunchiness of it, or just want something a little softer than the typical biscotti, bake this for 25 minutes. this will give you a more cookie like biscotti over biscuit. if you like a more traditional crunchy biscotti bake for 30 minutes.

once it’s cool, which takes about 10-15 minutes, you can cut it into half inch slices. at this point it’s still quite warm, so i like to have a slice of it while it’s still warm, it tastes amazing!

at this point you can use the option of chocolate and dip the biscotti into melted chocolate and let it chill until the chocolate hardens, however this will add time, and because i’ve never actually dipped them myself, i just know biscotti goes very well with it because my family used to make it like that and it was great!!

and that’s it!! serve with english breakfast tea for added warmth and happiness and Enjoy!!💕💕

Apollo

Let’s talk about Apollo.

The god of the sun, of medicine, of poetry, of music, and if archery.

Let’s talk about how all of these things can bring joy.

The sun is warm and combats seasonal depression

Medicine. Gods medicine is so important. Insulin, antidepressants, antibiotics, vaccines! Important.

Poetry! Where would we be in literature without some of the poems we’ve read!

Music. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t have a song that makes them happy. Who doesn’t have a tune that calms them down.

Archery! It’s a fun sport! Fun releases endorphins and the chemicals we need to be happy!

Joy is something we see, something we touch, something we smell, we taste. It’s both tangible and intangible.

It’s the scent of sunscreen on a hot summers day!

The sound of music blasting through the speakers of a car with its windows rolled down.

It tastes like an ice cream cone or popsicle as an afternoon snack.

It looks like the setting sun making way for the stars moon and stars to greet us with night and the greens and pinks of the galaxies around us.

Joy is laughter and laughter is the purest form of joy.

Apollo is nostalgia.

Apollo is laughter.

Apollo is Joy.

A lot of depictions of Apollo make him out to be the exact opposite of Diana/Artemis (depending your preference) but I don’t think they’re all that different. Sure, Day and Night is supposed to be a metaphor for that, but… I don’t know. A lot of depictions of Apollo make him out to be a surfer bro or playboy but I think he’s more than that.

He’s more than a ‘bro’and I think it’s disrespectful to give him such a simple personality.

Apollo is Joy, but he’s more than that. He’s emotion in its rawest form. The sun can burn and so can he. It’s important to remember not to underestimate him.
