LARRY She was worried that there would be errors, or mistakes or something… that you’d judge her writing abilities. LADY BIRD I wouldn’t do that. LARRY I thought you should have them. LARRY I want you to know how much she loves you but also don’t tell her I salvaged them, okay? LADY BIRD Ok... She touches all these letters her mother couldn’t send. And she can never tell her that she has them.

I might be too early as I’m on S2E02 but Big Little Lies is really interesting in how they portray the mother figure and mothers relationships with their children. In my opinion (it might be the fact that I’m stoned) there’s something that’s almost satirical in how they portray the cliches of the mother figure with different ages and gender of the children and the different parenting styles, and although it’s like lowkey funny it’s also so true.
like losing your mind a little and then having your husband call your mom bc of it only to get even more pissed off bc mom is being a mom? And then the other one losing her mind because the mother in law is being a straight up bitch about her abusive son? I know this much drama and murders don’t usually happen in the suburbs but it coincides with the culture of mothers in the suburbs, and how the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
anyways can you tell I really like the show so far

theres just something intimate about studio ghibli.
you sit down to watch about two hours of hand-drawn animation, each frame done with fragile care, with a silly little plot and cute little characters falling in love with something, whether it be friends, family, the world, nature, their work, independence, freedom, and doesn't even have to be romantic. these girls are so innocent yet brave main characters while also keeping their loving and kind personalities, with such great slice-of-life shots and cute little animal companions they can telepathically communicate with. they're the perfect things to watch with young kids, and can be enjoyed by practically any age they're that perfect.
i just love studio ghibli ok
