In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, letting Bowser fall asleep crashes the game.
While Bowser is controllable during many of the game's interludes and shares much of his code and abilities with Mario, one difference between them is that Mario will fall asleep while idling, while Bowser will never sleep. As such, his overworld sleep routine is undefined and will crash the game if it is ever called (note that he is perfectly capable of sleeping during battles).
There is one NPC who will force the player character to fall asleep when talking to him: Luigi. Normally, Bowser cannot talk to Luigi during regular gameplay, but modifying the code to let Bowser talk to him will result in him eventually being forced to fall asleep by Luigi's story. At that moment, the game crashes as shown in the footage.
