Subrata Chakravarty got selected at Gauhati Medical College for MBBS course
Being into anesthesiology, Subrata Chakravarty has always wanted to do active clinical work where skills and knowledge would go hand in hand. Being an intraoperative physician, he looks after the patient undergoing surgery right from the initiation of anesthesia till the recovery phase. He starts his day with a focused preoperative assessment.
Formerly, he joined as Staff Anesthesiologist with Alberta Health Services and has been working with them since then. He continued to preach and teach and was appointed as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta.
Holding expertise in anesthesia, Subrata participated in various projects which included auditory assessment after dural puncture during epidural placement in Obstetric Patients, “Performance of Anaesthesia Assistants: A review of more than 10,000 cases under local/topical anaesthesia with IV sedation and Aseptic techniques during labour epidural analgesia: A Survey of Obstetric Anaesthesia Practice in Ontario’.
Following his passion for anesthesiology, Subrata got selected for MBBS course at prestigious Gauhati Medical College. He then went to Delhi University for post-graduation and specialization in Anesthesiology.
Apart from this, Subrata Chakravarty conducted research in the field of simulation and his study “Effectiveness of using high-fidelity simulation to teach the management of general anesthesia for Cesarean delivery”.
Holding more than 15 years in health care, he is always focused on eliminating the chronic pain of the patients. Subrata believes that relaxation techniques work best to calm your mind and relax your body. These techniques include diaphragmatic breathing, guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, and mindfulness.

Subrata Chakravarty has been highly involved in acute care in surgical programs and labor analgesia for a long time. Besides, he has developed interest in Addiction Medicine and Chronic Pain. Subrata has always in involved in teaching and practicing safe airway management.
Always doing the active clinical work, Subrata has always been highly passionate about the field of anesthesiology. He himself believes that it would give him a platform where he would be able to take care of challenging cases and scenarios that require both skills and expertise.
As a reputed anesthesiologist, Subrata Chakravarty presented a paper at the SOAP annual meeting in Texas. In terms of teaching, research, and training, his three years fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital was very fruitful. He has been highly indulged in providing acute care in surgical programs and labor analgesia for a long time.
Pertaining to the studies Subrata has presented, he came up with his study on “Comparison of automated intermittent low volume bolus with continuous infusion for labour epidural analgesia” at the Annual Meeting, American Society of Anesthesiologist Chicago and Singapore after a continued research in the field of Anesthesia and pain medicine. This study was later published in a peer reviewed journal of Anesthesia Intensive care in 2010.
