Unity (ATLA boys x reader) Chapter 3
returA/N hey guys!! sorry it took so long to get chapter 3! I literally could not find a plot for this chapter, so i decided to skip the desert.
Chapter 2|Chapter 3
Word count: 3210 words
Chapter 3
The Desert (i am aware that i skipped a lot of episodes I just don’t want it to bee too long)
Traveling with the GAang was interesting. To kill time Aang told Y/N stories of how King Bumi was like as a kid. Y/N was extremely fascinated by these anecdotes, and amazed by how everyone could travel freely throughout the four nations 100 years ago. She wanted to participate in the story-telling too, so she told Aang some of the stories her mother had told her about her travels, and this shocked Aang as well. Soon the two realized that a century ago traveling rules were less strict than they were twenty years ago.
Everyone in the group was quite fond of Y/N. Katara was grateful to have another girl in the group so she would have someone to rant to whenever Sokka did something disgusting. Aang was grateful to have someone help him locate his next destination, as Sokka and Katara had never been outside of the south pole. And Sokka was grateful that there was someone who would listen to his jokes or agree with his crazy ideas.
Sokka would be lying if he denied the fact that he was feeling some sort of connection to Y/N. He always wanted to be around her for some reason, and every little thing she did would be engraved in his mind. If Y/N played with her h/c locks, Sokka would save that and think about it when he had nothing else to think about. If Y/N laughed at one of his jokes, he would automatically analyze said joke, and try to make more jokes like that one. If Y/N gave him a compliment on something of his or suggested he do something, he would think about that constantly and change whatever Y/N suggested.
I could say that Y/N felt the same about him, but I would be lying, and fRiEnDs DoN’t LiE. Y/N couldn’t stop thinking about Zuko, and wondering how he was doing. She may have not felt any romantic feelings for him, but that doesn't mean she couldn’t think about her friend.
Weeks had passed and the GAang had a new member, an earthbender named Toph. Y/N and Toph had hit it right away, their personalities instantly clicking. And the similarities in the ways they were treated when they were younger made them closer, if anything. Toph was treated as a helpless, blind, little girl even though she was an extremely talented earth bender. Y/N’s parents treated her well, but Azula made her feel useless since she had no bending. And after Y/N’s mother died, Y/N’s father had neglected and emotionally abused her. So yeah, the two girls had been through a lot.
As of right now, the 5 teens were walking through the desert, without Appa because he had been taken by sandbenders for money. As usual, Y/N tuned out of the conversation (more like an argument) that was between Toph and Aang about how Toph let Appa go away.
“I’m going after Appa,” Aang shouted in a harsh tone. He then flew off with his glider.
“Aang! Wait!” Katara shouted, running to the spot where he took off from. Y/N walked over to KAtara and placed a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
“We'd better start walking,” Y/N started. “We're the only people who know about the solar eclipse. We have to get that information to Ba Sing Se.” The teens, minus Aang, then started to walk towards the same direction Aang flew off in.
“You think if we dig out the giant owl, he'll give us a ride?” Sokka questioned. Y/N laughed and punched his shoulder playfully.
-
Sokka, Katara, Toph and Y/N had been walking in the desert for at least an hour now. The sun was scorching hot, and much to Sokka’s delight, Y/N had taken off the top layer of her outfit, leaving her in a tank top that showed off her smooth, s/c, arms. Annoyed by the sun, Y/N took Momo off of Sokka’s back and used his wings to create some shade. Sokka, obviously annoyed because he could’ve done the same, was about to protest when he crashed into Toph.
“Hey! Can’t you watch where you’re-” Sokka stopped his sentence after realizing what he’d said.
“No.” Toph hissed.
“Right. Sorry!” Sokka replied bashfully. Katara turned around to face the rest of the group.
“Come on guys, we’ve got to stick together!” Katara announced. During the short time Katara spoke, Sokka had accidentally stuck his clothes to Y/N, and was trying to free himself by pushing her away. Luckily for him, Y/N was trying her hardest to help him out too.
“If Sokka sweats anymore, I don’t think it will be a problem!” Y/N shouted, struggling to get the boy off of her. Toph, who was even more annoyed, pushed Sokka to the ground, separating the two at last.
“Katara, can I have some water?” Toph asked politely.
“Okay, but we’ve got to try to conserve it.” Katara bended four blobs of water out of her pouch into the mouths of Sokka, Toph, and Momo. When she noticed Y/N wasn’t accepting it, she asked, “Y/N? Don’t you want any?”
Y/N replied with, “I’m fine. Really.”
“Y/N! You have to drink some! If not you’ll pass out because of dehydration!” Sokka shouted.
“Okay, dad!” Y/N groaned. She accepted the blob of water Katara had bended her way.
Smacking his lips, Sokka said, “We're drinking your bending water. You used this on the swamp guy! Urch!” Y/N started to laugh, but ended up coughing after registering the taste of the water. Worried, Sokka patted her on the back repeatedly until she wasn’t coughing anymore.
“It does taste swampy.” Toph giggled. Momo whined at the taste.
“I’m sorry, it’s all we have.” Katara mumbled bashfully.
“Not anymore!” Sokka shouted. “Look!” He walked over to a random cactus plant that was in their path. He cut off a piece and drank the liquid inside.
“Sokka, wait! You shouldn’t be eating strange plants!” Katara shouted with worry, running over to him. Curious, Y/N joined the two siblings.
“There’s water trapped inside these!” Sokka shouted. He offered some to Y/N, and she took a tiny sip. She instantly felt lighter.
“I don’t know…” Katara started.
“It’s thirst quenching though! If that helps!” Y/N proclaimed. A little juice dribbled onto her chin and Sokka wiped it off. Blushing, Y/N punched Sokka again. He paid no attention to the punch as some sort of trance overtook him.
“Drink cactus juice. It'll quench ya! Nothing's quenchier. It's the quenchiest!” Katara grabbed his drink and poured it away.
“Okay, I think you’ve had enough.” Katara laughed. “Y/N, will you watch him?”
“Sure!” Y/N answered, still laughing. She grabbed Sokka and lockerd their arms together so he wouldn’t get away.
“Hey pretty lady!” Sokka shouted, dragging out the ‘y’ in ‘hey’. “Are we married?”
Still laughing, Y/N replied with, “Sure. We live in Omashu, and we adopted three turtle ducks. One’s named Toph, one’s named Katara, and the last one is named Aang. Sounds nice, right?”
“Anything’s nice as long as I’m with you!” Sokka sang out with a lovestruck expression on his face. He leaned towards Y/N for a kiss, but she only shoved his head away from hers. “Who lit Toph on fire?”
-
“I'm sorry, Aang. I know it's hard for you right now but ... we need to focus on getting out of here.” Aang had recently joined the group again and Katara was trying her best to comfort the airbender.
“What's the difference? We won't survive without Appa. We all know it.” This surprised Y/N. In the short time she had known the Avatar, he was always positive, no matter the situation.
“Aang. If we work together, we can find Appa. Stay positive! Right Toph? Katara?” Y/N looked to the girls for affirmation.
“As far as I can feel, we're trapped in a giant bowl of sand pudding. I got nothin'.” Toph sighed. Frustrated, Y/N turned to her last resort.
“Sokka? Care to share any knowledge as to how we could reach Ba Sing Se?” Y/N was standing next to Sokka’s body, which was lying on the sand with Momo right next to him.
“Why don't we ask the circle birds?” Sokka responded nonchalantly. Groaning, Y/N looked at the sky, only to see four buzzard wasps circling above their heads. Katara grabbed her head in annoyance.
“Ugh ... We're getting out of this desert, and we're going to do it together! Aang, get up. Everybody, hold hands. We can do this. We have to.” Katara grabbed Aang’s hand and Aang grabbed Toph’s. Katara used her other hand to grab Y/N’s and Y/N used all her strength to tug Sokka from the ground. Sokka stood up and placed Momo on his back.
-
Y/N was sleeping peacefully next to Sokka when she was abruptly woken up by Katara shouting, “Come on, get up! We need to go.” Groaning, Toph, Y/N and Sokka all rose up from the place they decided to rest.
“Yesterday my mouth tasted like mud. Now it just tastes like sand. I never thought I'd miss the taste of mud so much.” Y/N was going to laugh but she started coughing again, much like last time when Toph had registered the taste of the water. Sokka instinctively patted her back repeatedly while Katara went to wake up Aang.
“I’m awake,” Aang stated. “I couldn’t sleep.”
Nodding, Katara responded to the boy with, “Well, we need to get moving if we want to get out of this sand pit.” Aang quickly sat up as he noticed a sky-bison like silhouette floating by the moon.
“Appa!” Aang shouted, trying to get it’s attention.
“Appa? But why would Princess Yue need him? She's the moon! She flies by herself!” Sokka questioned as he grabbed Y/N’s hand, using it to rub his cheek. Y/N smacked him on the head, obviously weirded out.
“It's just a cloud.” Katara stated sadly, referring to the sky-bison-like object in the sky. “Wait! A cloud! Aang, fly up and bend the water from that cloud into my pouch.” Aang scoffed, obviously annoyed and agitated, but did as the girl said. When he landed on the ground, he threw Katara’s pouch at her. She looked in, only to be disappointed.
“Wow ... there's hardly any in here.” Aang sighed loudly.
“I'm sorry, okay! It's a desert cloud; I did all I could! What's anyone else doing?! What are you doing?!” Katara and Y/N were shocked. Aang had never acted like this before. Katara shook her head.
“Trying to keep everyone together. Let's just get moving. We need to head this direction.” The group walked towards the direction Katara had set them up in silence until Toph tripped and fell on her face. Worried, Y/N let go of Sokka and Katara’s hands to check up on the earthbender.
“Ow! Crud! I am so sick of not feeling where I'm going!” Toph shouted, pointing to the rock-like object she tripped on. “And what idiot buried a boat in the middle of the desert?”
“A boat?” Y/N asked. Katara ran over to observe the object.
“Believe me, I kicked it hard enough to feel plenty of vibrations.” By now Sokka and Aang had joined the three girls to observe the object. Aang motioned everyone to step back, and used his airbending to get rid of the sand, revealing a boat like contraption.
“It’s a glider! Like the one sandbenders use!” Y/N exclaimed. Sokka clapped his hand onto her back.
“Look!” Katara shouted. “It's got some kind of compass on it! I bet it can point us out of here! Aang, you can bend a breeze so we can sail it. We're going to make it!”
-
The five teens had squeezed onto the glider, with Katara navigating and Aang driving it using his airbending.
“The needle on this compass doesn't seem to be pointing north according to my charts.” Katara had stated. Y/N was going to sit next to Katara to help her out, but decided not to. Sokka placed himself right next to Y/N, and grabbed her hand.
“Take it easy little lady. I'm sure the sand folks who built this baby know how to get around here.” Y/N was obviously weirded out, but let Sokka do his thing. She didn’t want to make him angry, because in his current state, it would result in him doing something extremely annoying.
Katara gasped. “That's what the compass is pointing to! That giant rock! It must be the magnetic center of the desert.” Y/N turned around to look at the rock that Katara was pointing to.
Obviously ecstatic, Toph shouted, “ A rock?! Yes! Let's go!” Y/N just giggled.
“Maybe we can find some water there!” Katara exclaimed with a hopeful tone in her voice.
“Maybe we can find some sandbenders.” Aang snapped. He guided the glider towards the rock.
-
“Ahhh ... Finally! Solid ground!” Toph cheered as she laid on the rock, creating a rock angel with her bending. When she was finished creating the angel, she stood up and joined the rest of the group, who were exploring a cave with a gooey substance.
“I think my head is starting to clear out the cactus juice. And look!” Sokka shouted as he dipped his hand in the mysterious substance, earning a groan from Y/N. He licked the substance and offered some to Y/N, who kicked him in the leg in response.
“You've been hallucinating on cactus juice all day and then you just lick something you find stuck to the wall of a cave?!” Y/N ranted. “Spirits, you really are dense.” Frowning, Sokka wiped the goo off his hands and placed a hand on Y/N’s shoulder. He whispered, “Sorry.” Y/N just nodded in response.
“I don't think this is a normal cave.” Toph stated. “This was carved by something.”
“Yeah,” Aang agreed. “Look at the shape.”
“There's something buzzing in here. Something that's coming for us!” Toph shouted. The group ran out of the cave. Toph, Aang, and Y/N screamed as a buzzard wasp emerged from the darkness of the cave. Y/N pulled down Aang and Toph as it flew over their heads.
Another buzzard flew between Toph and Sokka. Toph used her earth bending to launch a rock in the direction of the buzzard, and the rock nearly crushed Sokka.
“What are you doing? That rock almost crushed me!” Sokka shouted.
“Sorry! I can’t tell where they are in the air!” Toph replied. Another wasp flew in between Sokka and Y/N. Y/N was going to hit it with one of her many throwing knives but Sokka lightly shoved her out of the way.
“I got this one!” Sokka told her. Y/N was annoyed, but realized that there wasn’t a wasp and Sokka was still hallucinating. Figuring that it would be funny to watch him smack his machete at nothing, she moved out of the way. Sokka then swung his machete at nothing, and Y/N giggled.
“Sokka, there’s nothing there!” Katara shouted, obviously fed up with him.
“I guess my head’s not as clear as I thought.” Sokka muttered. Y/N grabbed his arm and dragged him down to her level.
“We have to get out of here!” Katara shouted. “I’m completely out of water to bend!” Y/N nodded, about to move with Sokka trailing behind her, when a buzzard grabbed Momo.
“Momo! I’m not losing anyone else out here!” Aang shrieked. Full of anger, he took off on his glider in hot pursuit of Momo and the wasp.
“Come on, we’re going down.” Katara told the others. Katara held Toph by the hand as they made their way down a narrow ledge. Y/N was about to make her way to the others by herself when Sokka grabbed her hand.
“Hey! You- you shouldn’t go down alone!” Sokka exclaimed. Annoyed, Y/N traversed the wall and landed on the ground with a backflip, while smiling up at Sokka.
-
“What are you doing in our land with a sandbender sailer? From the looks of it, you stole it from the Hami tribe.” A sandbender named Sha-Mo asked Katara.
“We found the glider abandoned in the desert. We're traveling with the Avatar. Our bison was stolen and we have to get to Ba Sing Se.” Katara stated. The man’s eyes widened when he learned that Aang was the Avatar.
“You dare accuse our people of theft while you ride in on a stolen sand sailer?!” Another man stated. Toph’s eyes narrowed when she heard the man speak, and Y/N frowned.
“Quiet, Ghashiun. No one accused our people of anything. If what they say is true, we must give them hospitality.” Sha-Mo stated.
“Sorry, father.” Ghashiun replied.
“I recognize the son's voice. He's the one that stole Appa.” Toph cautioned. Y/N’s eyes widened, and she looked at Sokka, who looked equally as confused and surprised.
“Are you sure?” Katara asked.
“I never forget a voice.” Toph answered.
Aang charged forwards toward Ghashiun. “You stole Appa! Where is he? What did you do to him?”
“They're lying! They're the thieves!” Ghashiun defended himself. Aang, obviously agitated, he smacked his staff on the ground, and one of the gliders flew off due to his airbending. “Where. Is. My. Bison! You tell me where he is now!”
“What did you do?” Sha-Mo asked Ghashiun.
“I-it wasn’t me!” Ghashiun tried to defend himself.
“You said to put a muzzle on him!” Toph shouted!
“You muzzled Appa?” At this point, Aang was enraged. Sokka, Katara, and Y/N all looked to each other, with fear evident on their faces. Aang’s tattoos then started glowing as he entered the Avatar state.
“I'm sorry! I didn't know that it belonged to the Avatar!” Ghashiun shouted.
“Tell me where Appa is!” Aang shouted, with the voices of all the Avatars.
“I traded him! To some merchants! He's probably in Ba Sing Se by now! They were going to sell him there! Please! We'll escort you out of the desert! We'll help however we can!” Wind started swirling around Aang as he started floating in the air. Sokka pulled Y/N as he booked his way out of Aang’s vicinity. They finally found a spot that would keep them safe from Aang’s sandstorm and Sokka wrapped Y/N in a hug to protect her.
“Just get out of here! Run!” Y/N shouted towards the other sandbenders. Aang dropped his staff and the wind formed a sphere around him. As everyone ran away, Katara stayed put near Aang. The sandstorm engulfed the two, and they braced themselves as the whirlwind swooped over them. Katara managed to embrace Aang in a hug, causing him to calm down. Sokka lifted his arms which were wrapped safely around Y/N’s head and body.

Joking Around
SUMMARY: Picking on Zuko turns spicy
PAIRING: Zuko x waterbender!reader WARNING:
STORY:
You smiled widely at the group of kids sitting with one another. You had grown rather bored. So started playing around with your waterbending. Sokka was talking when he said something dumb and you set the water his was soaking his hair.
“Hey what the hell?” Sokka groaned pushing his hair back out of his face. You let out a laugh as well as the rest of the group before sonverstations resumed but before long most people went to bed to rest up for training the next day. Leaving you and Zuko alone. You did most of the talking as you attempted to break him out of his shell. You shot water at him soaking his hair.
“Hey, what was that for?” he glared at you ruffling hair hair in an attempt to dry it a bit.
“Well you were just sitting there like a statue” you joked.
“Don’t do that again, (Y/N)” his tone was serious but in a way that made you heart flutter and want to challenge him.
“What’re you going to do if I don’t, Zuzu?” you snorted with indignation. “Pin me up against the wall and kiss me?” you didn’t realize that you two had gotten so close. You could feel his breath against your lips.
Zuko took a step back, a deep red blush on his cheeks, “What?” brows furrowed in confusion.
A laugh fell from your lips before you copied what he said, “What?”
He faces changes to one of determination as he grabbed your waist and pressed you against the wall. The shock on your face made him smirk. Cocky bastard, you thought as he looked down at you.
“Is this what you wanted?” He asked, his hands rested on your hips. Your stomach did flips as his eyes flicked down to your lips.
“I’m pretty sure I said, pin me against a wall and kiss me,” You smirked at him, “I don’t think…,” You were promptly quited by his lips being pressed on yours.
“Is that what you wanted?” your face was full of shock again. You opened and closed your mouth a few times before your brain finally caught up. You leaned forward and pressed your lips against his again.

PERIODTTTTT SO CUTE I LOVE ITT
Stumbling Hearts (Past!Stanley Uris x Reader/Current!Bill Denbrough x Reader)
“hi love! could you write a fic for Stanley's POV where he and the reader dated but he broke up with her and Bill took care of her and they eventually got together and Stanley's just jealous? and can it be based on "If I Really Love You" by Lexi Jayde? ty”- @gogo-is-cooler-than-you
Warnings: over dramatic!Stanley Uris. angst, couples fighting (yelling + light shoving), underage drinking, crying + swearing
A/N: This fic is based on a few events from my past relationship and how he and I broke up, so it’s going to hit close to home!!! You were warned :)
——————————————————————————
“You can’t just tell me not to go somewhere, Stanley,” you yelled angrily, trying to maneuver around him so that you could get to your backpack that was sitting on his bed. He crossed his arms over his chest and slid across the floor every time you tried to go around him. “Stan, let me go see Beverly. We’ve had this night planned for weeks.”
He huffed, planting his feet firmly on the floor. “We never hang out anymore, (Y/N). Just spend one night with me. You’re so distant lately.” You stopped trying to get around him, looking at him wide eyed as you crossed your arms over your chest. “You...you never ever sleepover anymore, you don’t talk to me for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time. I miss you, Baby.”
You looked him dead in the eye, sucking on your teeth before answering. “You’re the one who’s busy with all your classes. You’re so smart that you always have to study and you never want me to stay ‘too long’. I need attention. Beverly gives me attention. Bill gives me-“
“Bill?” he asked shocked, his arms falling down to his sides as his whole body sagged. “Bill.” He turned around, tears in his eyes as he grabbed your backpack, throwing it back in your direction. “Go then. Go see Bev.”
“Stan, I didn’t mean it like that with Bill,” you answered, still an edge of annoyance in your voice as you saw how upset he was getting. He has been ignoring you for weeks, not completely, but he didn’t offer for you to sleepover or to go to the diner. Yes, he was busy with finals, but that didn’t give him an excuse to just throw you to the side. “Stan, I’m only hanging out with Bev today. I-I don’t know why I brought up Bi-“
“I think we should take a break,” he said, his voice muffled by his palms being in his face. “I-I need to focus on school and you...I don’t know what you need to do, but-“
“So you’re giving up?” you asked, sadness washing over you as you noticed his fragile frame. He curled up on his bed, knees now to his chest. “Just throwing two years away?” He shook his head, his hands going down to the bed with a surprisingly loud thump.
“Fucking leave,” he screamed, his voice cracking dramatically. “I’m done. Out. Get the fuck out of my house. Grab your shit.”
“So now you’re breaking,” you sniffled, interrupting yourself with a voice crack, “breaking up with me?” You looked at Stan has he lifted his head up, his eyes puffy and red as he nodded slightly, breaking down in tears again. You nodded, wiping the tears off of your cheeks.
“I’ll bring all your stuff that’s at mine by in the next couple days,” you calmly responded. “You better have all my shit together, too.”
You swung the backpack over your shoulders, stomping out of his room, slamming the door shut behind you. You noticed Mrs. Uris standing at the bottom of the steps, concern washing over her face as she saw the tears running down your face.
“So I’m guessing you’re not staying for dinner?” she asked a bit awkwardly, wringing her hands in front of her as you shook your head. “Is he...”
“He’s crying if you want to go comfort him,” you answered softly. “Thank you for offering dinner. I’m sure I’ll see you at some point, not soon though.”
“Okay, Dear,” she answered distractedly, rushing upstairs to see how her son was doing. You grabbed your shoes from in front of the door, slipping them on as you rushed out the front door. You grabbed your bike, sniffling as you tried to stop crying enough to get to the quarry safely. Ultimately, you decided to head home instead, opting to explain your absence to Bev tomorrow.
You now laid in your bed, snuggling up to one of his sweaters that you, unfortunately, offered to give back. He wouldn’t miss one of them, you thought pensively. It was his giant, olive green one that made him look like a grandpa. It had swallowed him whole, which meant it was like a dress, and then some, on you. You sniffled and took heavy breaths, tears falling from your eyes and your nose being so full of mucus that you couldn’t even breath.
“He didn’t mean that,” you said to yourself softly as you sat up against your headboard. “He still loves me. He still...” Your voice trailed off as sobs racked through your body, and you pushed the hoodie further to your face. You heard a soft knock on your door, your mom calling you from the other side to tell you that there was someone on the phone for you. You told her that you’d be down in a minute, wiping the tears out of your eyes as you stood up from your bed. When you walked out the door, your mom kissed your forehead and followed you down the steps.
“Hello?” you said into the phone, your voice thick with sadness.
“I-It’s Bill,” the voice on the other end answered. You smiled softly, looking down at your feet. “S-s-stan told me what h-happened and I f-figured I’d ask y-y-you if you were ok-k-kay.” You sighed into the phone, feeling tears sting at the corner of your eyes once again.
“Yeah, I’m okay”, you lied blatantly, holding back the tears as your voice cracked. “I’m okay, Bill. Don’t worry about me.”
“I-I’m coming to p-p-pick you up and we’re going to g-go to the quarry, o-okay?” His voice was full of confidence, despite the stuttering, and he sounded as if he wanted to see you.
“Okay, I’ll be ready,” you answered, bidding him a quick goodbye. “Mom, Bill’s coming to pick me up so I won’t be having dinner with you guys.” You heard her put a pot down in the kitchen as she hollered back an “Okay, I’ll save some anyway!”
You went upstairs, changing into Stanley’s hoodie and pulling it on, slipping on your sneakers and walking out to sit on your front step and wait for Bill. A few minutes later, he pulled up in his beat up Saturn, waving at you from the driver’s side. You stood up, hugging the hoodie closer to your body as you hopped into his passenger’s side. He reached over and squeezed your knee, giving you an apologetic smile.
“I-I was thinking w-we could catch a m-m-movie at the Aladdin and then g-go to the d-diner for dinner in-instead,” he piped up as he pulled off towards the center of town. “I-I’ll p-p-p-pay.” He looked over briefly, giving you a soft smile.
“Yeah, Bill, thank you,” you answered timidly, running your right hand over your opposite arm and bringing your knees up in the seat. “You don’t have to. We can just hang out at your house if you want.” He scoffed, shaking his head.
“If S-stan couldn’t give you a pr-pr-proper date night, then I-I’m going t-t-to.” You blushed at his words, a real and big smile spreading across your face as he pulled into the parking lot by the movie theatre. He ran around to your side of the car, opening the door for you with a smile and a light blush on his cheek.
After that night, you were with Bill every night, either at your house or his, hanging out and getting to know each other more. You and Bill had always been close, ever since you were little, but he was telling you things about him that you have never heard before. He was taking you on more dates, eventually starting to hold your hand and kiss your cheek; however, you did nothing in front of the Losers. Stanley was still struggling with the breakup, being very distant when you were around and only giving you tight lipped smiles and side glances. You and Bill didn’t want to make him feel completely isolated, so you just kept it to yourselves. The only person who knew that there was anything between you guys was Bev.
She had found out that you guys were messing around when she saw you and him at the Aladdin, making out in the back row when when and Ben had come to see a movie. She confronted you both right after, in the lobby, and all three of you vowed not to say anything to Stan.
Until Stan found out that is.
You and Bill made the stupid mistake of kissing goodbye in the hallway after last period because he had baseball, and Stan had caught you two on the way to the locker room. When you had left, Stan cornered Bill, holding him against the wall by his shirt as he yelled at him for “taking his girl.” The only reason you heard about it was because Bill recounted the incident to you, which caused you to flip out on Stan. Stan avoided the hangouts for a little while after, choosing to “focus more on classes” instead of fooling around and getting drunk. That lead to all the other Losers finding out about you and Bill’s exploits.
That lead you to tonight, the first time you had seen Stan in the clubhouse since the end of March. It was the weekend before your graduation, and you all wanted to get together before the family parties that littered the summer weekends up until August. Richie, like usually, brought a bunch of beer and a bottle of vodka. You all took turns taking swigs from it until it was finished and you were all giggly. All except Stan. Stan was seething in the corner while everyone sat on the couple old mattresses that you all had managed to fit down there a few years back. He was sitting on a little bar stool, his eyes stuck on you and Bill.
Bill’s arm was around your waist, you sitting in between his spread legs, and his chin was resting on your shoulder. You were all laughing at something Mike had said when suddenly Stan’s beer clattered to the ground, cracking and spilling out the bottom. He stormed out of the clubhouse, slamming the door shut. You were immediately on your feet, handing Bill your beer as you ran after him. As you peered your head out into the Barrens, you saw him leaning against a tree.
“Stanley?” you called out, slightly worried as you stepped closer to him. “Stanley.” You said his name again but more stern, catching his attention as he had a scowl on his face and tears in his eyes. He pushed himself off the tree, facing you fully as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Why are you out here?” he asked softly, a bad attitude evident in his voice. “Don’t you have a boyfriend to get back to?”
“Is that...is that what this is about?” you asked incredulously, trying to stifle back a scoff. “We broke up, Stan. It’s not like I was cheating on you.”
“Yeah, but you went to him,” he huffed, gesturing in the general direction of the clubhouse. “Of course you’d go to Bill. He’s better than me in every way.”
“He gives me the attention I need,” you snapped back, looking him up and down in disgust. “You stopped giving it to me. We were together for a long time and you just-“ You cut yourself off with a sob, looking down at your feet as you heard him shuffle across the leaves closer to you. You felt a hand touch your shoulder, and you moved away, looking up at him. “You broke me. Bill’s fixing me. You don’t have to be an asshole.”
“(Y/N), I’m sorry,” Stan confessed through tears. “I-I shouldn’t have done that to you. I still have that oversized Led Zepplin shirt of yours if you want it back.” You shook your head, giving him a tight smile.
“I still have the grandpa sweater,” you shrugged your shoulders. “But you can have-“
“Keep it,” he cut you off with a thin lined smile. “It looked better on you anyway.” He looked down at the leaves, crunching them until he decided to speak up. “So, we going back?”
You nodded, turning around and hearing him follow suit. “Just...be nice, okay? I don’t want you beating Bill up.”
“I’d never actually hurt him,” Stanley responded in defense. “I’d probably just shove him down or something.”
When you went back into the clubhouse, everyone smiled at you both. You took your place back in between Bill’s legs, and Stan sat next to you guys, laughing along with the jokes and including himself comfortably.

Chapter 2
The Swamp Meeting Sokka and Katara, formally, was… interesting, for Y/N. When Katara saw Aang walking towards the two siblings with Y/N, her first instinct was to freeze her, not even acknowledging the way Aang wasn’t even troubled by Y/N’s presence.
“Katara!” Aang shouted, as he unfreezed the ice that entrapped Y/N. “This is Y/N. She’s King Bumi’s granddaughter, and more importantly, she’s a friend. She defied Princess Azula, Zuko’s sister, to save me. If it wasn’t for her King Bumi and I would probably be fried.”
“I don’t believe you.” Sokka stated. “If you were really King Bumi’s granddaughter, we would have met you weeks ago, the last time we were here.”
“It’s a long story, but I can assure you I’m no threat. I’m not a fire bender or an earth bender, I’m already considered a traitor to the fire nation, and I left my sword and my throwing knives back home. The only way I could possibly hurt you is by chi-blocking, and I’m not even as good as Ty Lee!”
“Hold on. Why’d you say earth or fire bender? And why do we have matching necklaces?” Sokka questioned.
“She’ll tell us while we’re on Appa. Now come on, I have an earthbending teacher to find. Y/N, you wouldn’t happen to know any great earthbending teachers, right?”
“No, I don’t, but I’m tired. And your sky bison is so cute!”
Y/N told Sokka, Katara, and Aang the whole story. How her mother was the princess of Omashu and how she traveled the whole world and had many suitors from different nations (Y/N's mother had multiple water tribe suitors and her favorite had given her a necklace similar to Sokka’s, hence as to why they match), how Y/N's mother had Y/N with a fire nation noblemen which led to Y/M/N being disowned by her family, how Y/N grew up in the fire nation and how Y/N moved to Omashu after her mother’s death, and how Y/N was too scared to set foot anywhere near the royal palace.
It was a lot for the watertribe siblings to take in, but they sympathized with her as they both lost a mother as well. Ultimately, they decided she wasn’t a threat to them and would help them out when navigating the fire nation and Ba Sing Se, as the girl traveled to many places due to her father and mother’s high status.Katara may have trusted Y/N right away, but Sokka was still suspicious of the girl, and most likely jealous too.
Sokka certainly didn’t appreciate the fact that Y/N was a better warrior than him even though he was older than her, and he was jealous because of the way she had with a sword.
Days passed and the four teens were flying over a large forested area, covered with a blanket of fog. Aang was in some sort of trance and Y/N was eyeing the swamp suspiciously, while Sokka sharpened his machete and Katara studied some scroll.
“Hey, you taking us down for a reason?” Sokka questioned. There was no reply from Aang, and Y/N didn’t bother to answer Sokka. The swamp was too… ominous.
“Aang, why are we going down?”Aang must have snapped out of his trance because he then said, “What? I didn’t even notice.”
“Are you noticing now?” The watertribe boy retorted. Noticing Sokka’s harsh attitude, Katara moved up to the front of the saddle, and said, “Is something wrong?”
“This is going to sound really weird,” Aang started, “but I think the swamp is calling to me.”
Y/N interjected with, “I feel it too. I can hear some sort of… ringing, I guess. It’s weird and I don’t like it.”
Sokka ignored what Y/N said and targeted his next question to Aang. “Well, is it telling you where we can get something to eat? I’m starving!” At this, Y/N rolled her eyes. In the short time that she knew Sokka, she had pinned down three of his personality traits to be talking about food, girls, and his boomerang. Disgusting.
Y/N tuned out the rest of the conversation until she heard Sokka scream, “You better throw in an extra yip! We gotta move!” And that was when Y/N saw the tornado.
Y/N had never liked tornadoes. She also wasn’t fond of lightning. As Y/N was panicking, she saw Sokka fly off Appa’s saddle. She instinctively reached out for his hand and he grabbed on to it. Y/N saw the look of panic on his face, since Y/N was the person who would decide if he would live or die. She could either let him go here and risk Katara freezing her to death, or bring Sokka back onto the saddle and have him owe his entire life to her. The princess went with the latter.
As Y/N helped Sokka onto the saddle, Aang created an air shield around Appa. However, Aang was struggling with keeping it intact, and eventually the shield broke and Appa and the rest of the team fell into the swamp. Fortunately, Y/N fell right next to Aang, so he bended the air to give them a soft landing.
Aang stood straight up and looked around, asking, “Where’s Appa and Momo?” When he didn’t find them right away, he shouted, “APPA! MOMO!” Y/N was laying on a tree root and had no intention of moving until Sokka appeared right before her with a huge-ass grin on his face.
“What? Did ya’ get too tired Princess?” Sokka teased. Y/N's face turned red, totally not from Sokka calling her princess. Her face turned red because he was teasing. Yup.
Fuming, Y/N replied with, “Funny, because I was the one who saved you. Now you owe me your life.” Y/N stood up and brushed off the dirt from her clothes. Sokka was left speechless by the girl, because everything she said was factual.
Soon the four of them were united and Sokka suggested they start a fire. Aang and Sokka argued while Katara noticed that Y/N was just in the background. Walking over to Y/N, Katara said, “Hey. Are you, uh, okay?”
“What?” Y/N replied, “Oh no, I’m fine. Really. I’m just not a big fan of this place.”
“Oh, okay. Just… let me know if you need anything, yeah?” Y/N simply just nodded in response to Katara. The four kids had dinner and then went to sleep, huddled against each other for warmth. Or more like Katara and Aang were huddled together in the middle, and Sokka and Y/N were on the outside. Suddenly, Sokka screamed, and the rest of the three teens woke up, only to be dragged away by some vines. Y/N tried her best to get out of the vines, but with no weapon (it was with Sokka) or no bending, she was stuck.
“Guys? GUYS!” she screamed, but no luck. Y/N kept wiggling inside of the vines until they randomly let go.Stepping out of the cage of vines, Y/N was met with a figure. Y/N could tell that the figure was most likely female, so she called out, “Hey lady! Could you uhh… help me find my friends?”The lady didn’t respond, so Y/N started walking towards the woman. Y/N was just about 5 feet away from the mysterious woman until she turned around, and Y/N was met with the face of...her mother.
“Mom?” Y/N asked, with tears coming to her eyes.“Mom, is that really you?” The mysterious woman just nodded, and Y/N ran over to her, tears streaming down her s/c skin. “Mom!”
“Y/N,” the lady started, “I want you to know that… that the heart wants what it wants. The person you end up with may not be the person you expected. The person you may end up with may have crossed you many times before. But just know that they’re with you for a good reason, and that they love you for you. The person you end up with is an amazing warrior with an intelligent mind.” Y/N didn’t know what else to say. She wasn’t even thinking about love yet, she was only fourteen for spirit’s sake! Nonetheless, Y/N accepted her mother’s advice with a thank you. The young girl was about to embrace her mother when her image started shimmering.
“Mom? Mom!” Y/N called out.
“Y/N! I love you so, so much! Don’t forget what I said!” Screamed Y/N’s mother, and then she disappeared into the night. Y/N stood there, processing what her mother had told her. Why was it important that she know who she would end up with? She had expected her mother to apologize for not telling her the whole truth, or some information on a powerful earthbender so she could help Aang with his search.
Y/N shook her head and her h/c hair framed her face. The girl started walking, not sure of where she was going, until she came upon a large clearing. (in reality some vines pushed her until she reached said clearing.) She found a tree root and sat on it, thinking about whatever the hell her mother had just said, until Sokka appeared, along with Katara and Aang.
“What do you guys think you’re doing!?” Sokka shouted, as he put away his machete. “I’ve been looking all over for you!”
Katara, obviously agitated, replied with, “Well, I’ve been wandering around looking for you! And you, Y/N, where were you?”
Y/N was about to speak, but Aang cut her off with, “I was chasing some girl.” Y/N couldn’t help but laugh a little.
“What girl?” Katara asked. Y/N couldn’t tell if she was jealous or just plain confused.
“I don’t know. I heard some girl laughing and I saw a girl in a fancy dress.” Aang replied.
“Well there must be a tea party here and we didn’t get our invitations!” Sokka screamed sarcastically. Y/N giggled. Who knew Sokka could actually be funny? “What are you laughing at, Y/N?” said the watertribe boy.
“Nothing!” the h/c haired girl replied. “Nope, nothing at all.”
“I thought I saw mom.” Katara stated.
“Oh. I thought I saw my mother too.” Y/N uttered. Sokka frowned as he noticed Y/N didn’t seem too happy about it.
“Really? Did your mother say anything to you? I tried to reach out to my mom but she disappeared before she could tell me anything!” Katara blurted.
“She talked to me about the person I be with in the future. She said they were a skilled warrior who was very intelligent. I don’t know anyone like that though. Except some people in the fire nation, but based on how things are going, that’s a no. But she also said that the person I end up with is not someone I would expect.” Sokka mulled over her words.
“You don’t know anyone like that? What about me? I’m intelligent! And I’m the best warrior in the Southern Water Tribe!” Sokka exclaimed. Hearing Sokka’s words made Y/N blush, but also made her laugh.
“Well, I’m sorry that you were so offended by my mother. I’ll admit, you’re smart, but you could work on your skills with a sword.” Y/N breathed.
The two kept bickering until Sokka said, “Look, we were all just scared and hungry and our minds were playing tricks on us. That's why we all saw things out here.”
Katara looked surprised. “You saw something too?”
Sokka looked away, obviously thinking about what he was going to say next.“I saw… I saw Yue. But that doesn’t prove anything! Look, I think about her all the time, and you and Y/N saw your moms, who you guys probably miss a lot.”
Y/N knew who Yue was. Despite constantly bickering, there were some times where Sokka and Y/N had deep conversations, conversations Sokka was too scared to have with Katara. They talked about Y/N's past, and how Yue’s death deeply affected Sokka.
“What about me? I didn't know the girl I saw. And all our visions led us right here.” Aang started walking around, thinking deeply, trying to connect the dots.
“Okay ... so where's here? The middle of the swamp?” Katara questioned.
Y/n cut in. “I think… I think this is the heart of the swamp. It has to be the center. I think it was calling us.”
“It's just a tree. It can't call anyone. For the last time, there's nothing after us and there's nothing magical happening here.” As soon as Sokka said that, a huge seaweed monster appeared before them.
Sokka screamed and ran straight to Y/N, wrapping his arms around her, while Y/N just stood there trying to understand what the hell had just appeared right in front of them. The monster started attacking the four friends, so they all split up.
The monster got to Sokka first, picking him up and swinging him around like an infant would with a toy. Aang bended the air to chop off one the arm that was holding Sokka, only to become the next target for the seaweed creature.
After Sokka was free from the creature’s grasp, Y/N helped the tan boy tear up some of the vines, as he gave her back her sword just seconds ago. Things were going smoothly until Sokka was swiped from the ground, (yes, again) but Y/N chopped off the arm that was holding him.
Katara was using her water to slice another arm of the creature but the holes the water bender created kept on growing back. Aang was running around trying to lose the vines that were reaching out towards him. Sokka was randomly sucked into the chest of the creature while Y/N was trying her best to reach for his hand.
Katara froze and then unfroze Sokka, allowing him to get out of the seaweed monster's chest.
“There’s someone in there!” Sokka shouted to Katara. “He’s bending the vines!” Katara looked over to Y/N and the both nodded, signalling they were about to do something badass.
Katara ran to the left of the monsters body and sliced the monster’s head on using her water bending while Y/N hacked away at the right side of the monster’s body using her sword. The seaweed head of the creature slid off the body, and the man inside the seaweed was exposed.
Aang shouted, “Why did you call me here if you wanted to kill us!?”
The man inside the monster said, “Wait! I didn’t call you here.” The man was wearing nothing but a loincloth covering his, you know, and a leaf hat on top of his head.
Almost instinctively Sokka covered Y/N's eyes. Annoyed, she put his hand down and said, “I’m only a year younger than you. I don’t need your protection. I’m mature and I can defend myself just fine. I don’t need you.”
“Whatever. How am I gonna be a warrior if I have no one to protect?” Sokka started.
“You can protect your sister-”
“The last time I tried to do that, she found the Avatar. Plus, she’s a bender. And the last princess I had to save turned into the moon. You may not be a princess yet, but I’m going to protect you. Think of it as my... redemption.”
At this point Y/N’s face was extremely red.
“Well I think your redemption is a whole lot of bull. I’m not just some replacement for Yue, Sokka.” Y/N scoffed and started walking towards where the water benders were.Sokka reached for Y/N’s wrist tugged on it, pulling the s/c girl to him. Y/N couldn’t help but think of what happened with Zuko before she left.
“I didn’t mean it that way, you idiot. You aren’t a replacement of Yue for me. We may fight a lot, but I care about you, Y/N.”
Y/N thought about his words. She gave him a smile and said, “I guess,” then started walking towards Katara and Aang, who were following the weird swamp man.
“So, who are you then?” She heard Katara say. The strange man started bending vines out of the way to create a path.
“I protect the swamp from folks that want to hurt it, like this fella with his big knife.”
Embarrassed, Sokka put away his weapon, but then said, “See, completely reasonable. Not a monster, just a regular guy defending his home. Nothing mystical about it.”
The strange man, who’s name turned out to be Huu, laughed. “Oh the swamp is a mystical place all right. It's sacred. I reached enlightenment right here under the banyan-grove tree. I heard it calling me, just like you did.” He sat down on the said tree.
Sokka elbowed Y/N in the stomach and said, “Sure you did. It seems real chatty.” Y/N couldn’t help but giggle and Sokka looked over to the younger girl with a look of confidence on his face.
“See, this whole swamp is actually just one tree spread out over miles,” Huu started. “Branches spread and sink, take root, and spread some more. One big, living organism. Just like the entire world.” Y/N was amazed. She looked around, her face filled with awe of the place.
The princess didn’t bother to listen to the rest of their conversation, and rejoined the group when she saw they were all sitting down.
“In the swamp, we see visions of people we've lost, people we loved, folks we think are gone. But the swamp tells us they're not. We're still connected to them. Time is an illusion and so is death.” Confusion washed over Y/N’s face. Was death really an illusion? Sokka noticed Y/N’s troubled looks and placed an arm on her shoulder, feeling pride in the way she relaxed against his touch.
“But what about my vision? It was someone I had never met.” Aang questioned.
“You're the Avatar. You tell me.” replied Huu. Aang mumbled something about how time was an illusion but Y/N didn’t pay attention.
She was daydreaming about who-knows-what until she heard Aang shout “Come on! We’ve got to hurry!”
The rest of the teens followed him through the swamp until he led them to Appa and Momo. There was a fight about the creatures, but eventually, Aang had his precious animals back.
Time passed quickly, and suddenly it was night time, and the GAang and the swamp benders were huddled around a fire. Y/N had complained about being too cold despite the swamp being normally warm and Sokka had wrapped his coat around Y/N’s shoulders.
“How you like that possum chicken?” A swamp bender named Due asked.
Sokka responded with,“Tastes just like arctic hen.” He shoveled another spoonful of soup into his mouth, then swallowed. “So why were you guys so interested in eating Appa? You've got plenty of those big things wandering around.”
Sokka pointed at the catgator right next to the swamp benders. Due looked shocked.
“You want me to eat old Slim? He's like a member of the family!” Due then grabbed a fish from wherever and tossed it towards the catgator. The catgator catched it and Sokka laughed. Y/N couldn’t help but smile when she heard him chuckle, it was like music to her ears.
“Nice Slim!” Sokka cheered. He then threw a bug at Slim, but the catgator just growled. Y/N giggled.
“Catgators don’t eat bugs, Sokka.” The girl said. Sokka turned his head towards Y/N.
“And how do I know that you’re right, Princess?” Sokka inquired as he poked Y/N’s sides. By now Y/N was giggling like crazy and Sokka looked at the girl like she was the only person on Earth.
“The girl is right! Bugs are people food!” Due laughed.
“Where'd you say you was from?” another swamp bender named Tho, asked.
Katara responded with, “My brother and I are from the South Pole. Y/N was born in the Earth Kingdom Omashu, but lived in the Fire Nation Capital for most of her life. And Aang is from the Southern Air Temple!”
“Didn't know there was waterbenders anywhere but here.” Tho breathed. “They got a nice swamp there, do they?” Y/N giggled at his statement. According to her mother, Sokka, and Katara, there were zero swamps in the northern or southern water tribes.
“No, it's all ice and snow.” Katara corrected.
“Hmm. No wonder you left.” Y/N found this strangely funny for some reason, and she placed her face onto Sokka’s shoulder to stifle her laughs. The watertribe boy’s face turned crimson red, as he had never experienced something like this, not even with Suki or Yue.
Sokka cleared his throat, and to Katara, he said, “Well, I hope you realize now that nothing strange was going on here. Just a bunch of greasy people living in a swamp.” This made Y/N laugh even harder and Sokka felt extremely confident.
“What about the visions?” Katara countered.
“I told you, we were hungry. I'm eating a giant bug!” Tears were coming out of Y/N’s eyes, Sokka was acting incredibly stupid. And the way he ate the bug’s abdomen was disturbing and hilarious at the same time. Sokka placed his arm around Y/N in an attempt to be smooth. Y/N, just thinking it was a friendly gesture, allowed it.
“But what about when the tree showed me where Appa and Momo were?” Aang added.
Y/N had calmed down a few moments before and was currently sitting straight up, no longer leaning on Sokka, much to his dismay.
“That’s Avatar stuff,” Y/N started. “That doesn’t count.” Y/N fixed her h/c, h/l, and then asked Huu, “How did you make that tornado that sucked us down? It was pretty freaking awesome.”
Huu looked confused. “I can't do anything like that. I just bend the water in the plants.”
Sokka stood up, then announced, “Well, no accounting for weather. Still, there's absolutely nothing mysterious about the swamp. I’m also tired, so I’m gonna go set up our sleeping bags. Y/N? Care to assist this handsome young fellow?” He held out an arm for Y/N to grab onto. With nothing else to do, Y/N took his arm and stood up.
“I’m not sure that the term ‘handsome young fellow’ is suitable for you, but I’m tired, so why not?” The two started walking towards Appa, on their way to get their supplies.

“The universe” Sokka x reader
Warning: none
_______________________________
“Maybe the universe thinks youre as beautiful as I do..."
"Well then Sokka, you must be as blind as the universe."
That was it. Those were the few worlds that it took to make Sokka fall blindly in love with y/n. Wether it be the atmosphere of that warm night, or the way the moonlight dusted her cheeks with blue hue, he was in love. Truly in love.
That was that realization that changed everthing for him. When his short glances morphed into longing stares. When the need to be held bubbled so high in him that he wrapped arms around himself to stay contained. To say the least, he was miserably content. He loved the little smirks and smiles she gave him, the gracious laughs every once and a while, but he wanted more.
It made his breath hitch everytime he would find you and Haru training in some part of the air temple. His heart hurt everytime you laughed at the Earth Nation boy just as you did to him. But what was he supposed to do? Tell her to stop hanging out with the guy, that would be so uncool. So he just chilled, clinging desperately to what he had left of her attention.
Sokka jumped slightly as y/n plopped down on her back next to him. He looked over, her skin was slick with sweat and her breath was labored, having just come back from tossing bolders around with Haru. Instead of looking away, Sokka just watched, his eyes glazed over the dips and curves in her face and how the light from the fire accentuated them.
“Dont pass out on me now." Haru chuckled, earthbending a pebbled at her face.
"You wish. Im just... resting my eyes." Y/n didn't open her eyes, letting the smile that spread across her face convey her contentment.
"Yeah right, you can go ahead and say I wore you out." Haru teased, equally as tired.
Jealousy bubbled in Sokka's throat, threatning to spill out infront of everyone.
"Im training you! Dont get cocky." Y/n laughed.
Sokka huffed quietly, turning away from the two as they joked. Then finally he stood, walking away.
"Where are you going, Sokka?" Katara asked, calling out to the water tribe boy.
"Out." he said bitterly. Y/n opened her eyes and watched his back as he left. Then she locked eyes with Katara.
"I've got him." Y/n stated, getting up and following his path.
The forest was cold as the brances of trees reached out to brush y/n's shoulders. Leaves and twigs crunches in protest as she stepped over them, and june bugs rattled as she walked by. Normally she would be weary of where she was going, but she had walked this forest so many times with Sokka that the path was clearly embeded in her mind. She smiled softly when Sokka's back came into view. Then she leaned against a tree on the edge of the clearing, on the other side was Sokka, sitting with his legs over the cliff.
"Why'd you leave me with those lame-os?" Y/n chuckled. She noticed how his shoulders tensed, the relaxed again, he didn't turn to look at her.
"Oh come on, you’re not talking to me now?" She asked jokingly, draping her arms over his back. He shrugged her off with a sniffle. Y/n stood back with a confused expression. Her eyes were glued to his side profile, how he tried his best to look anywhere but her.
Y/n sighed sat down next to the boy, throwing her legs over the clif next to his. She leaned her head over onto his shoulder, watching the stars.
"You like Haru, dont you?" He asked quietly, breaking the silence.
"Huh? Is that what you’re all bent out of shape about?" She asked.
"What? No! I- I just-"
"You just like me?" Y/n asked, raising an eyebrow with a large grin.
"No! Y/n I dont-Stop looking at me like that!" He huffed.
"Why should I? The universe thinks you’re just as beautiful as I do." Sokka's face flushed at her careless comment. He didn't moved as her soft hand came up to cup his cheek, and his eyes slipped shut when her lips connected with his own. The world was still when he drank her in, still when his arms wrapped around her waist.
"Besides, its good that you like me, it means my feelings aren't one sided.”

You know how Azula said that things would run smoothly for Y/N because she was of royal blood? Well that was a fucking lie. Y/N and her father moved back to Omashu because Y/N’s mother had passed away. Y/N thought that because of her blood, she would at least get to meet her grandfather, King Bumi, but she was only met with dirty looks. After pushing countless questions onto her father as to why they were treated so badly, Y/N’s father caved in and told her the truth. The whole truth.
Y/N’s mother was an Earth Kingdom princess. Y/N was aware of that already, but what Y/N didn’t know was that her mother was disowned after her parents found out that she had a child with a fire nation nobleman. They were in the middle of a war, for spirits sake. How could the king's own daughter fraternize with the enemy? Flooded with embarrassment, Y/N’s mother suggested they leave Omashu, and Y/N’s father took Y/N and her mother to the Capital City in the fire nation so the young couple could get married and raise Y/N in peace.
Y/N thought the story was sweet. Her mother gave up a lavish life in the Earth Kingdom to live in the fire nation (basically enemy territory.) But the rest of Omashu didn’t see it that way. They thought of Y/N’s mother as a traitor, and since Y/N was her daughter, they saw the young girl as a traitor too. It didn’t help that Y/Ns father wasn’t ashamed of his fire nation bloodline. Their neighbors were convinced that the L/Ns were spies.
For the next four years of her life, Y/N lived in hell. She was severely bullied at school. She came home from school with tears in her eyes at least twice a week. Y/N was afraid to set foot anywhere near the royal palace. But she found solace in meditation. There was a large hill several blocks away from the bustling city where she sat and meditated. But all this (or at least some) came to an end when on Y/N’s 13th birthday, Mai’s father Ukano, successfully infiltrated the city. All fingers were pointed at Y/N and her father, as the recent events ultimately supported the claim that they were spies. However, they couldn’t exactly prove it and the L/Ns remained in Omashu.
Despite having even more reasons for the people of Omashu to hate Y/N, at least she wouldn’t be alone anymore. After four long years of sending letters back and forth, Y/N finally got to see one of her best friends again. (Not that Y/N didn’t ever see Ty Lee in those four years, Y/N did watch Ty Lee’s performances in the circus every once in a while) In the next year, Mai trained Y/N in throwing knives like she promised, and also taught her how to take care of Tom-Tom, along with gossiping with her about what had happened with who and what.
Y/N cried when she learned that Zuko had been banished from the Fire Nation for the past two years, and came to the conclusion that he was so focused on capturing the Avatar and regaining his honor that he never replied to her letters anymore. However, Y/N was surprised to learn that Zuko and Mai got together before said banishment. She wasn’t upset by this, as the two talked about how they were more like siblings to each other years before.
A month after Y/Ns 14th birthday, Mai and Y/N received a letter from Azula stating that she and Ty Lee would be in Omashu. Azula was forming a small, elite team to bring back Zuko and General Iroh to the fire nation. Y/N was confused as to why Azula would need a team to bring them back, but then realized that Zuko wouldn’t stop until he caught the avatar, and probably needed lots of people to convince him. Nonetheless, Y/N tagged along with Mai to reunite with Ty Lee and Azula.
Hugs were shared, gifts were given, and soon it was time for the four girls to head back to Mai’s home. Once they arrived, the female warriors learned that not only did the majority of the city’s citizens had to evacuate because of a sickness called ‘pentapox’, (which Y/N had never heard of in her life) but that Tom Tom was missing and most likely being held hostage by the Resistance. Azula was furious with Mai’s father for being so careless, and Y/N and Mai were outraged that the citizens had taken Tom Tom. Azula proposed they trade Tom Tom for King Bumi and rename the city to ‘New Ozai’ because Ukano had made a fool of himself. Despite being raised in the fire nation for more than half of her life, and the people of Omashu treating her and her father like dirt, Y/N was conflicted by Azula’s proposition. Technically, Y/N could take the throne (if it ever came to that), and this was her mother’s home. But Y/N knew better than to defy Azula in anything and stayed quiet. The four girls went to bed, mostly thinking about kicking the resistance’s asses.
Soon morning came, and the girls got ready to make the trade. The girls met with the Avatar just next to where the statue of Fire Lord Ozai would be built. Upon arriving, the fire nation girls were met with a small boy with a hat on, a beautiful looking girl water tribe girl who looked around her age, and an extremely handsome watertribe boy who had a necklace that matched hers.
“Hey! Where’d you get your necklac-” “Hi everybody!” The watertribe started to question Y/N, but was cut off by King Bumi being lowered down by a crane in a cage.
“Azula? Is that…” Y/N was amazed. This was her grandfather?
“Sadly, it is. You can go to him while I confer with the Avatar.” Azula chuckled. Y/N ran straight to her grandfather. Aang was about to protest, but Mai said, “You brought my brother?”
Aang responded with, “He’s here. We’re ready to trade.” Mai, Aang, and Azula talked to each other for a while, and in the meantime Y/N was trying to get to know her grandfather.
“K-king Bumi?” Y/N asked the old man.
“Are you asking if I’m King Bumi? Because I am. What do you want?” The old man replied. Despite being trapped in a metal case, Y/N was still intimidated by him.
“I knew your daughter. Y/M/N?” King Bumi’s face contorted, and Y/N couldn’t tell if it was out of confusion or disgust. “Y/M/N?” he stated. “Oh! Y/M/N! My daughter! Yes! It’s been so long since I’ve seen her. She moved to the fire nation, you know. Speaking of which, you look just like her! I wonder wh-” Y/N cut him off.
“She died. Four years ago. And I’m… I’m her daughter. So you’re my grandfather.” Tears were threatening to slip out of Y/N’s eyes, but Y/N wouldn’t dare let them out. She didn’t want to cry in front of Azula and the cute watertribe boy.
“Oh. What’s your name? How come I’ve never seen you before? Why have you never visited? You know, I wasn’t the one who chose to disown Y/M/N. It was your grandmother, actually.” Y/N was shocked to hear that he didn’t hate her. She started sobbing as she said,
“Y-Y/N. My n-name is Y/N. My mother s-said that after she was disowned she urged my father to move us to the fire nation. We lived there until she died, when I was 7.”
“Oh, you poor girl. How come you never visited? I would have been more than happy to let you stay!” Despite his crazy exterior, King Bumi was a kind and soft person at heart.
“I-I thought you would hate me! I-it doesn’t help that my father isn’t ashamed of being fire nation. And I’m so sorry that my friend’s father has taken over this place. I’m so sorry, King Bumi.”
“Nonsense! It isn’t your fault you lived in the fire nation, or that this place is conquered by the fire nation. I could never hate you because of your mother. I never even hated your mother. I just wish you came by the palace sometimes.”
“I wish I did too-” The cage that trapped King Bumi was being lifted up, and Y/N was cut off by King Bumi screaming “Whoaa! See you all later!” Panicking, Y/N screamed, “GRANDFATHER!” She then turned around, screaming “AZULA!”
Aang thought to himself, ‘Grandfather?’ Before screaming, “Bumi!” Aang sprinted forward, but Azula blocked his way, shooting her blue flames at him. This confused Y/N. Why was Azula shooting at him? The small kid jumped and then he suddenly had a glider. While taking out the glider, his hat fell off, exposing the light blue tattoos on his body. Astonished, Azula and Y/N shouted, “The Avatar!” Y/N was aware that the current Avatar would have to be an airbender, but to actually see him in person, especially when Zuko was supposed to see him, it was amazing! The thought of the Avatar returning was what got Y/N through the hard times in Omashu. She knew that with him around, the world would be at peace again. But Y/N realized, if that kid was the Avatar, that meant Azula was shooting at him.
Y/N just stood there, watching as Ty Lee and Mai charged at the two watertribe teens while they were escaping with Tom Tom. It was a lot for Y/N to take in, and she couldn’t decide who’s team she would be on. After hearing a crash, she turned around to see the Avatar removing the chains from King Bumi’s cage.
“It’s just like old times, isn’t it, Bumi?” she heard the Avatar say to her grandfather. ‘Old times?’ she thought, but then remembered that the Avatar had been missing for over 100 years. Y/N decided she should be on the Avatar’s side since he knew his grandfather, so she started running over to the two, before noticing that Azula was shooting several fire missiles at them. This gave Y/N another reason to be on the Avatars side, her best friend was about to kill her grandfather for spirits sake!
Y/N booked it for Aang and King Bumi. But Azula’s missiles were faster than Y/N. Luckily, Aang fought them off with his airbending. Helpless, Y/N just stood there, watching the two throw their bending at each other. She hears Mai nonchalantly say “How are you gonna fight without your bending?”, which meant that Ty Lee chi blocked the watertribe girl. Y/N heard the watertribe boy reply with “I seem to manage!” and she couldn't suppress her chuckle. Y/N turns around again to see the Avatar and Azula still fighting. She heard the Avatar shout, “Hang on, Bumi! Our ride’s here!” signalling that the two were about to leave. Y/N was not going to let the Avatar leave with her only relative on her mother’s side, not without her at least. So Y/N screamed, “AVATAR! BUMI IS MY GRANDFATHER! TAKE ME WITH YOU!”
This outraged Azula, and she started directing some of her firebending toward Y/N. But after training with Azula for many years, Y/N knew her blind spots, and dodged the fire with ease. Aang heard what Y/N had said, and decided that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take her with them. He figured that it wouldn’t hurt to take them, especially since she seemed to defy her friend for him. Y/N joined Aang and Bumi at the end of the chute the two were on.
“Im Y/N. Bumi’s granddaughter. And you’re the Avatar!” Y/N said, amazed. He looked much younger up close. “Were you friends with my grandfather?”
“Very close, actually. Before I disappeared. I’m Aang, and this is Momo!! It’s nice to meet you! I didn’t know Bumi had a granddaughter!” Aang replied, laughing. Y/N scratched the lemur between his ears. He was very adorable.
“I didn’t know either!” Bumi stated. The three laughed loudly. The laughter died down and there was an awkward silence, before Bumi said, “You should go. Goodbye, Aang and Y/N. Don't forget what I told you about jing! I’ll see you when the time is right.”
“What? Why! I only just met you! I can’t leave you!” Y/N interjected. She didn’t want to leave her grandfather behind.
“Just go. Y/N. I know you’ll help Aang with his mission greatly. And besides, Princess Azula doesn't seem too happy with you. Wouldn’t want to see how that turns out.” Y/N laughed. Hopefully she would see him again soon. She nodded at her grandfather and King Bumi let himself tumble backwards into the chute.
“So… I guess we’re allies now, huh?” Aang stated out of the blue.
“I guess so.” Y/N replied. “I didn’t realize that you were so young. I think I could help you guys out.” Aang nodded at this and they went to go find the two watertribe teens, Sokka and Katara.
Meanwhile, Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula were on a palanquin in the city. “So,” Mai started. “We’re tracking down your brother and Uncle now, huh?”
“It’ll be interesting seeing Zuko again, won’t it Mai? Too bad Y/N won’t be with us to see him.” Ty Lee asked Mai. The broody girl blushed at the thought of seeing Zuko again, but Azula grimaced when Ty Lee mentioned Y/N. She had saved that girl, chosen her, and she had the audacity to defy her? For some Avatar? As far as Azula knew, the Avatar was nothing more than a roadblock for Fire Lord Ozai’s plan to conquer the rest of the three nations.
“It’s not just Zuko and Iroh anymore. Since little Y/N decided to betray us for the Avatar, we have a third and fourth target now. Don’t feel bad for Y/N, by the way. If I hear you even talking positively about her, I’ll make sure your fate is the same as my brothers.”

Just read Unity and I love it so much! I was just wondering if it will be little one-shots or if it'll be a chaptered story?
It’ll be a chaptered story. I’m working on part two right now! I don't know how long it will be, but it will definitely be more than 5 parts. And thank you for the support!

Unity (ATLA Boys x Reader) Prologue
A/N: YALL THIS IS MY FIRST FIC IM SO NERVOUS SJSJJS but ok this is basically a bunch of ATLA boys x female reader (except aang because he is kataras and kataang is great) but its mostly sokka centric. this prologue is zukos part tehe
also, unedited, im just bored and i want something to do so yeah <3
word count: exactly 1481 words i think the next chapter will be longer
Capital City, Fire Nation
The weather in Capital City was beautiful. The sun was out, the birds were chirping, the soft breeze of the wind threading its way in and out of the trees. This, however, was not enough to put a stop to Y/N L/N’s crying. Not even Ty Lee’s jokes could stop the tears streaming down the young girl’s face. Today was the day Y/N would be moving back to the Earth Kingdom of Omashu, her and her mother’s hometown. As much as Y/N wanted to see where she was born and where her mother ruled, Y/N didn’t want to leave her only friends either. Ty Lee, Mai, Zuko, and Azula were the young girl’s best friends. At 8 years old, Y/N was one of the youngest of the group, but the fire nation citizens still let her hang out with them nonetheless.
Being cousins with the fire nation princess’s best friends had its perks. Not that Y/N wasn’t best friends with Azula (which she was), but Azula was just closer to Ty Lee than everyone else in the group.
“Come on Y/N!” Ty Lee exclaimed. “You’ll get to see where you were born! Isn’t that exciting?” The energetic girl ran around Y/N, trying her best to stop her crying. Right after Y/N was born, her parents moved from Omashu to Capital City, where Y/N grew up with her friends.
“Y-yeah, but… I don’t want to leave you guys! You’re my only friends!” Y/N explained. Azula only let the young girl hang out with herself, Mai, Ty Lee, and Zuko. The young girl was quite shy too, which made it even harder for her to make many friends. She wasn’t as energetic as her cousin Ty Lee, as beautiful as Mai, or as intimidating as Azula. She was just there.
“Oh, grow up Y/N. You’re the granddaughter of King Bumi for spirits sake, you’ll be just like Zuko and I.” Azula breathed nonchalantly. She wasn’t the best at sympathizing with others, but at least she made an effort. And it was true that she was the granddaughter of King Bumi, but she never met him due to her mother quickly moving them into Fire Nation territory.
“Y/N, look on the bright side. I’ll be visiting in a couple of years, I think my father has some business there. You won’t be entirely lonely.” Mai tried. Mai’s father was a high status war general, and he was most likely going to take over Omashu. Not that the two girls were aware of that yet.
“You’re r-right, Mai.” The younger girl was excited by this. In a couple of years she wouldn’t be all alone.
“I’m always right.” Mai replied. “But cheer up, because I don’t want you to get tears all over my present for you.” Mai pulled out a package that was wrapped with a beautiful red and gold cloth. Curious, Y/N opened up the package, only to find several intricately designed red and silver shurikens.
“Thank you so much Mai! But why shurikens?” Y/N questioned. After all, it was kind of odd seeing an 8 year old receive knives as a present.
“Just keep it. When I come to Omashu, I’ll teach you how to throw them.” Mai’s parents were always busy and never had any time for her. They supported everything she did as long as she behaved well in front of the public eye. Out of boredom, Mai taught herself how to throw knives so she could defend herself.
“Oh Mai,” Y/N shouted as she ran into Mai’s arms, the older girl reluctantly wrapping them around Y/N’s waist. Just as Y/N was about to shed more tears, Azula split the two apart while Ty Lee watched sweetly.
“Y/N, this is my gift to you. I am aware that Zuko has been training you in sword fighting. I had this sword custom made for you, so take care of it.” Azula cautioned as she pulled out a broad sword. The blade was made of shiny steel, with edges so sharp you could prick your finger by touching it softly. (Y/N learned about this the hard way.) The hilt was a beautiful cardinal red with gold details, a reminder that the weapon was from the fire nation. On each of the sides of the hilt there was a name engraved onto it. One side read ‘Azula’ and the other read ‘Zuko’.
Y/N’s e/c eyes flickered over the engravings in confusion. Azula must have caught on because she broke the silence by saying “It’s so you won’t forget us. Not that you will, but…” Azula let her sentence drift into silence. “It was just going to say Azula on both sides, but Zuzu insisted his name be engraved onto it as well.” Azula continued
“Azula…” Y/N began. “I love you so much Azula!” There was a mess of Y/N’s h/c hair as she ran into the arms of Azula, like a dog would to it’s master. As Y/N pulled away from the hug, Prince Zuko arrived to where the four girls where and cleared his throat.
“Hi Zuko!” Ty Lee chirped. Normally Zuko would berate Ty Lee for not calling him ‘Prince Zuko’, but for the sake of Y/N he let it pass. He wouldn’t want to let Y/N leave with the thought that he was a stuck-up prince.
“Hey there.” The young prince said timidly. “Could I speak to Y/N? A-alone?” He mentally cursed himself for stuttering but the past was in the past. Once Zuko had uttered that sentence Ty Lee and Mai instantly looked at each other with a smirk, while Azula raised an eyebrow.
“I don’t see why not. Just don’t take too long, I want to give Y/N one last ride on the palanquin before she leaves for Omashu. Have fun!” And with that, Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee left the two fire nation kids alone.
Zuko could barely breathe. There she was, Y/N L/N, looking as stunning as ever with the wind making her h/c hair float in the air. She was looking at the turtle ducks in the courtyard that was in the royal palace. Tears were running down her face, as the thought of being without her only friends was corrupting her young mind. Zuko made his way over to Y/N, placing a delicate hand on her shoulder, taking pride in the way Y/N relaxed in his touch.
“Are you o-okay?” The prince stammered. He had never been very good with comforting others. His father had taught him that showing emotions was a weakness, and he should look down upon people who let themselves be vulnerable around others. But Zuko would never do that to one of his friends.
“I guess.” Y/N uttered as she played with a baby turtle duck. “I just don’t want to be without you.” After hearing that last sentence, blood rushed to Zuko’s face and soon he was as red as a tomato. He tried his best to get his face back to a normal color before blurting, “I want to give you something.”
Y/N looked over at Zuko as he pulled out a plain black headband from his pockets. “I know it’s not much, but Lo and Li helped me make it, and I really wanted to get you a gift.” Zuko explained as he put the headband in Y/Ns h/l, h/c, hair.
“Zuko…” Y/N breathed. Now it was her turn to be flustered. She had always had a crush on the young Prince, and she just fell even harder. The two sat in a peaceful silence for a few moments, enjoying the view of each other and the extremely adorable turtle ducks.
After a few more moments, a wave of confidence hit Y/N like the high tide crashing against the rocks on the shore of a beach. Without giving it a second thought, Y/N placed a short kiss onto Zuko’s cheek, dangerously close to his mouth. After the short kiss Y/N stood up and grabbed her belongings, and murmured, “Goodbye, Zuko.” She then started to walk away.
After processing what just happened, Zuko shook his head violently, trying to clear his head, and then chased after the young girl. His hand found her wrist and Zuko tugged on it, causing her body to crash against his. He encased Y/N in a hug, before planting a kiss on Y/N’s head, saying, “I’ll miss you.” Y/N’s eyes started to water, and the two walked hand in hand on their way to meet Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai outside of the palace.
That was 5 years ago.

playing with fire pt. 4 [sokka]
Pairing: Sokka x reader
Summary: You’re a Fire Nation citizen who saves Sokka and Katara from some angry villagers. Aang “convinces” you to come along with them, finding your knowledge of the nation useful. Not everything is smooth sailing though as both Water Tribe siblings have their doubts about you.
this will be a series :D this is Toph’s intro!!!
w.c.~5.7k
prologue. one. two. three.
.masterlist.
~
The peacefulness you felt while flying through the air didn’t last long, and soon enough you felt Katara’s gaze burning into you. You glanced up, meeting the pair of narrowed blue eyes that seemed to study your every movement. It was silent for a few more minutes, Aang and Sokka shifting uncomfortably as tension filled the air. When he could no longer take it, Aang opened his mouth, ready to tell some cheesy joke to try and diffuse the situation before it even began.
“So,” Katara spoke first. Aang clamped his mouth shut, looking to Sokka as he tried to get a read on Katara’s tone. “Why is it that literally every single Fire Nation person we run into seems to know you?”
“Sokka didn’t tell you?” you asked quietly, glancing at the boy in question. He shook his head.
“I didn’t want to tell them your story, (Y/N),” he stated firmly, his tone a stark contrast to the soft stare he was sending your way. “That’s your business, not mine.”
You stared at him for a few seconds before Katara cleared her throat, drawing your attention back to her. Settling against Appa’s saddle, you glanced at Sokka once more before facing Katara and speaking.
“My parents are Fire Nation nobility. They worked with Ozai to plan the conquests of Earth Kingdom towns. As a result of their positions, I spent a lot of time in the palace,” you began, recalling the words you had told Sokka in the Cave of Two Lovers. Katara’s glare lessened, an interested gleam taking its place as she motioned for you to continue. “I grew up alongside Prince Zuko. I was his chosen training partner, even if I wasn’t a bender. I was good with a bow and arrow and I was even better with a sword, which made me useful to Ozai. I joined the army when I was old enough and eventually Ozai realized that I was good at planning invasions and had me revise the generals’ plans. One day I was sent out to battle with my father. When the Earth Kingdom troops surrendered, I took the chance and ran because I had finally realized that the Fire Nation had done so much harm to others. Later on, I found out that they had massacred them either way. I couldn’t go back after deserting so I traveled until I settled into the Fire Nation colony where I met you.”
“So what about the other girls?” Katara asked.
“I told you that I attended the Royal Fire Academy for Girls with them,” you said calmly. “Mai and Ty Lee were the daughters of noblemen. Mai is good with knives and Ty Lee’s a chi-blocker, which is why you couldn’t waterbend after her attack.”
“What about the other girl.”
“That’s Princess Azula,” you said, sighing deeply. “Zuko’s younger sister. Firebending prodigy. She can bend lightning. She’s the most dangerous of them all.”
The group went silent at your words, thinking about the way the golden-eyed girl had conjured up blue fire. Sokka was staring at you curiously, something about your words bothering him. When speaking to Katara, you had told her that you found out about the Earth Kingdom soldiers’s death after you ran away. Back in the Cave of Two Lovers, you had told him that you had run away because they had killed the soldiers. He shook his head softly, realizing that he could’ve easily misheard you. But there was something about the way you had spoken, almost if you were uncertain about some of the things you were saying. Sokka huffed slightly before tearing his gaze from you. You couldn’t be lying to them…right?

i saw sparks
IN WHICH: in a modern world, zuko finds himself stumbling down the hallway of your apartment building, thinking of all the old memories.
PAIRING: modern au! aged up! zuko x reader
INSPIRED BY: sparks — coldplay, fine line — harry styles
NOTES: i’m feeling sad, so i wrote this. enjoy! <3
zuko had never been an emotional person.
his father taught him to keep his emotions to himself, that boys weren’t supposed to cry. his dad always said that one day, once he took over the family company, emotions would only be a burden. crying was showing vulnerability, and vulnerability was weak. zuko’s family was not weak.
and yet, he ended up falling for you.
in his world full of hatred and anger, you were the ray of sunshine he never knew he needed. you were the type of person to stay up until 4 am to skateboard around the city. you were so expressive and eccentric that zuko couldn’t believe you had gotten along with him.
but you had given him a chance. you called his sarcasm and lack of enthusiasm ‘endearing,’ and you took him under your wing. you brought him to places he’d never been and made him experience adrenaline that made him feel like he could do anything. zuko began to feel alive with you by his side. to his surprise, you felt the same about him.
you started dating after a year of knowing each other. your adventures never stopped, and your love for each other only grew. waking up with you in his arms were little memories that zuko learned to appreciate. he loved listening to you sing at the top of your lungs in the shower or in the kitchen, and how you’d bring him to the roof of your apartment for a spontaneous meal of take out chinese food. zuko loved watching the sunset with you while you both talked about your days.
but as the year went on, he had to learn to miss the things he loved.
zuko knew it was his fault, that he had stormed out of your apartment the day of your argument because he didn’t know what else to do. he had become distant towards you — no more conversations on the roof, no more movie nights. work was slowly taking control of him, and his father’s words always rang in his ears.
no feelings; those will only drag you down. we don’t have room for distractions.
you wanted to help him. you had called into his job and got him laid off for a day because you knew he needed the rest. zuko always knew that you were more observant than you looked. instead of being thankful for the free fay, zuko had blown up on you. he complained that his work life and his home life were different things that you had no business in, even though you told him all you wanted was to help him. you wanted to see him happy again.
“i can’t keep seeing you like this!” you protested, watching him pace in the living room while you stood near the dining table. you had gotten take out from your favorite italian restaurant down the street, but the pasta laid cold on the plate while you both argued. “please,” you pleaded, walking towards him.
his hair fell over his eyes, which held heavy purple bags under them as he stared at you. zuko was breathing heavily from his outburst, but he said nothing as you took his hands into yours. your touch was so gentle. “you deserve to be happy. just like before,” you said quietly, eyes glassy with tears as you silently begged for this argument to end.
zuko shook your hands off of his, anger being the only emotion in his body as he shook his head at your words. “i was never happy,” he stated, not meeting your gaze as your face dropped. zuko turned away from you, hand unlocking the door to your apartment. he didn’t even look back at you. “not with you, not with anyone.”
though he never said it out loud, zuko had broken up with you. you arrived at his place that morning with boxes of his things. you shoved it at his hungover body, and he remembered how he nearly fell over with the strength that came with your actions. zuko wanted to say he was sorry. he wanted to take your hands in his and kiss you and let all his problems spill from his mouth.
but he let you go. you didn’t deserve someone like him.
god, he regretted it. that was the only thought that ran through his mind as he stumbled down the hallway of your apartment building, clearly drunk out of his mind.
months had passed. the last time he had heard of you, you were hanging out with a guy named haru. not that it was zuko’s business in the first place.
sokka had been the one to tell zuko about how you were doing. he was like a brother to you, and while the majority of his ‘updates’ informed him that you were perfectly fine, sokka had left out a lot of details.
like how you weren’t your adventurous self for a whole month and how katara, toph, and suki had to raid your apartment and force you out.
sokka and aang both knew zuko wasn’t any better, but it was hard to tell. zuko kept all his emotions behind locked doors, and he only ever allowed himself to break down when he was alone.
so this was new. the fact that he had gone out to drink his problems away was new. never had he done that before, but zuko supposed there was a first time for everything.
he knocked on your door, keeping himself as steady as he could as to avoid falling into it. zuko felt like crying, laughing, and throwing up all at once — not a good combination, in his opinion.
he had knocked a total of 9 times before your door finally opened.
you were in a large t-shirt that certainly wasn’t yours. your hair was messy and the bunny slippers zuko had given to you for your birthday were on your feet. you looked at him with wide eyes, the shock hitting you before the worry could.
“y/n,” zuko greeted with a lazy grin, trying to lean on the doorway before he missed it. his body fell on the floor, a loud groan leaving his lips at the contact.
“zuko?” you stepped out of your room fully, quickly leaning down to help him up. the feeling of your skin meeting his sent sparks up and down his arms.
you didn’t tell him to go back home. you didn’t yell in his face. instead, you let him into your house and plopped him on the couch, where ‘love, rosie’ was playing on the tv. you left him for a few moments, giving yourself a little pep talk in the kitchen as you got him a glass of water.
“i wanna tell you something,” zuko mumbled shyly as you put the glass of water in his hand. his cheeks were flushed red at the small action, and he reluctantly drank his water.
“that’s new,” you muttered under your breath, making him frown. you sat next to him, keeping a distance from you both as he put his water on the table in front of him.
“i’m sorry, y/n,” zuko said quietly, sheepish eyes finally meeting your gaze as he allowed himself to ramble. “i miss you. a lot—“
“don’t say that,” you cut in, tone cold as you stared at him.
“but i do,” zuko continued, “i really do. i miss it when we’d watch movies until 5 am, when you’d make me pancakes in the morning—“
“stop it.”
“when you’d kiss me and i’d see sparks because i...” zuko’s words died out when he saw the tears streaming down your cheeks. you were crying, but you didn’t sob. you only let the tears fall as you looked away from him. ever so slowly, he could feel himself sober up a little bit more. “y/n, look at me.”
you didn’t. you only looked at the movie ahead of you.
“please,” zuko pleaded, and when his hand reached out for yours, you pulled it away. his heart snapped into two. “i’ll always look out for you. i— i promise i won’t let you down again.” he knew he was rambling at this point, that his drunken state was making his whole situation worse, but he couldn’t make himself stop.
“you don’t get it, zuko,” you sniffled, angrily wiping your tears away. “you never let me down. not once. but when you said that you were never happy,” you swallowed down the lump in your throat. “you made all our memories together feel like nothing. i just wanted you to be happy, zuko.”
“i’m sorry.” zuko felt tears well up in his eyes as he sniffed quietly, his hand reaching out to you once more. this time, you held it. you looked at him, at the tears running down his cheeks, at the messiness of his hair, at the under eye bags he carried. you looked at all of him, and said nothing as you pulled him into a hug.
“i didn’t mean to,” zuko cried, burying his face into your shoulder. in that moment, zuko let all his emotions out. the bottle that they were once held in did nothing to hold them back as he held you in his arms like it was his last. his tears soaked your shirt, but you did nothing as you covered your face in his shoulder.
maybe you missed him too.

ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝟛 | ℝ𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 ℍ𝕖𝕣𝕖 Zuko x Reader

< ℙℝ𝔼𝕍𝕀𝕆𝕌𝕊 || ℕ𝔼𝕏𝕋 >
𝕄𝔸𝕊𝕋𝔼ℝ𝕃𝕀𝕊𝕋 𝕆𝔽 𝕋ℍ𝕀𝕊 𝔹𝕆𝕆𝕂
𝕀𝕞𝕒𝕘𝕚𝕟𝕖 | Aang and Y/N are siblings who share powers, but Y/N was hidden from the Four Nation’s eyes to avoid the possibility of their separation. Then, Zuko meets the flamboyant and flirtatious Y/N for the first time at the Western Air Temple where he attempts to join the tight-knit Gaang.
𝔸𝕦𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕣'𝕤 ℕ𝕠𝕥𝕖 | A-are we getting Zuko content?
A blur.
That’s what last night felt like. Images and sensations of the unknown relentlessly surged through Aang and Y/N. Even with Sokka’s gentle fingers weaving through Y/N’s hair, massaging their scalp in an attempt to help them calmly recollect the events of yesterday.
Sokka dangled his legs over a crumbled ledge that once allowed young Air Nomads to practice their first take off. He peeked over the edge to gauge the height, questioning if he could die from it. Shifting his focus elsewhere, Sokka sighed at the sight of Y/N’s head who laid stiff on his lap and staring blankly at the young morning sky.
“What?” Y/N scoffed, adjusting their eyes onto Sokka’s ocean blues.
“I didn’t even say anything!” He pulled his hands up in surrender.
“I know what you’re thinking!” Y/N shifted away from him and opted to leaning on his back, since there wasn’t really any proper furniture at the Western Air Temple. Unless the crumbling stone paved ground, poking at their bums counted.
Y/N stretched out their fingers behind them, pulling on Sokka’s ponytail, “You wanna throw me down there and see if it’ll trigger the Avatar state. Maybe it’ll help me remember, eh?”
He yelped, swatting Y/N’s hand away. “No, I wasn’t! If there’s anyone I wanna throw down there… It would be Zuko,” Sokka stated.
Y/N barely heard the last part, it was barely above a whisper. “Speaking of-”
“Nope! Absolutely not!”
With a swift motion, Y/N flipped over and kneeled next to Sokka. “You didn’t even hear me out!” Y/N cocked their head in his direction.
“Direct orders from Katara,” He planted the palm of his hand into their face. “No visiting the burnt chicken nugget.”
“UGH, I HATE IT HERE,” Y/N shuffled their feet together to stand up, pulling on Sokka’s ponytail once again before sprinting away.
-
The cold concrete pricked Y/N’s bare feet as it padded along the hallway of the Air Nomad’s sleeping quarters, now claimed by the Gaang. They ran their hand along the wall trying to feel their way down the dim corridor, instead picking up decades of dust. Y/N snapped their fingers to bend it away, successfully tickling their nose into a sneeze.
“ACHOO!” The sound bounced off the walls, making it echo back to their ears. A disturbed groan caught Y/N’s ears.
Y/N smirked, “Found you…”
-
Y/N’s shadow cast over the carved doorway, as they peeped through it.
“Who’s there?” Zuko’s voice was gruff, as if he hadn’t drank water in days, even though Katara healed him with her element.
In normal circumstances, which there never really was such, they’d sprint away from the Prince. But seeing him attempt to prop himself up to his elbows, Y/N wanted to lay there next to Zuko on the rickety wooden bed. The need to sleep in his arms, as he ran his long fingers through Y/N’s hair, releasing sighs of content and admiration from both ends.
Y/N carefully stepped into the vacant room that held nothing but the two teenagers and the crumbling bed.
“Hello, Y/N here…”
Zuko’s eyes shifted from Y/N to the thin blanket, clutching it tightly. “What are you doing?”
Y/N took a step forward and crossed their arms. “I’m always here for you Master Flameo.”
A tinge of red pinched Zuko’s ears. He could never get used to this relentless teasing because even his first relationship (if he could even call it that) was not built on rainbows and unicorns. Instead, he was given fire and knives… very sharp knives.
He suppressed the bubbling smile forcing itself out by twisting his body to face the chalky grey wall.
“I don’t need you.”
Y/N sighed as they neared his stiff frame. “Yeah, but I need you.”
Zuko’s mind was racing as thoughts and questions flooded into him.
Need me…?
Y/N cleared their throat and poked his soft cheek, causing him to whip his head back from the contact.
“Aang and I need you to help us fight your daddy.”
Of course, Zuko silently scolded himself.
He flopped over to fully face Y/N and grasped their wrist with a strong grip. Y/N was caught off guard, yelping as he yanked it close to his chest. Their faces hovered over each other’s, noses just inches apart.
Y/N noticed the sunlight seeping through the small carved opening behind the bed, crawling onto his delicate features, usually twisted in disdain. His growing hair was framed along his jawline, it was almost long enough to act as a curtain over his eyes. But it wasn’t enough to shade over his softening amber eyes, those crystallines of yellow met Y/N’s lips drawn tight into a thin line.
Zuko didn’t know what caused him to act like this sporadically. Yes, he was well-acknowledged by his crew as a ticking bomb, not knowing when he’d explode. Even his own girlfriend (well, an ex now) couldn’t grasp his temperament. She called him, as quoted, “capricious”, always acting on the whim, never thinking of the consequences.
Don’t even get Zuko started on Uncle Iroh. Though he never outright voiced his thoughts of his nephew’s swirling mind, there were implications of his opinion.
He couldn’t blame them. He really couldn’t.
But what they didn’t understand was that Zuko always envisioned the consequences. It would play out in his mind like a tape on a loop. Whether it was good or bad, he always took the chance.
Y/N stood there rigid, unable to pull away from his grip. Y/N and Sokka never acted coy with each other, always straight out teasing and poking fun of each other. He always returned their actions with a playful, snarky remark or would even push his limits to giving them a smack of the lips on the cheek as an act of thanks.
But, they didn’t know Sokka’s intentions.
He always sought out people who initiated true feelings of love. They were unlike the people that piqued his interest. Y/N knew they couldn’t bend his preferences to their own personality.
Even the fortune teller of Makapu village, contorted their face as she began to read the cracking bone in front of her.
𝔼𝕟𝕕 ℕ𝕠𝕥𝕖 | I’M YELLING! I’m actually loving how this is turning out so far. As some of you may know, this series is ending soon. I can’t really gauge how many chapters there’ll be, but I’m guessing about three chapters-ish. Which honestly is a pretty good amount for an ending.
Thank you always for the support! What are your thoughts so far?
