KORUA Shapes – SUNŌKERU from KORUA Shapes on Vimeo.
«SUNŌKERU» follows us on a pow-devouring journey to the land of the rising sun. Hungry for bottomless powder, our crew packed their bags and headed for the snowy hills of Hokkaido for a two-week adventure, boards and snorkels in hand. Seasoned veterans Nicholas Wolken and Atsufumi Mizuno were joined by the fresh energy of our new friend Spencer O’Brien and the young legs of Lars Popp. Christoph Thoresen, Markus Fischer, and Neil Hartmann rounded out the gang behind the lenses, and together we aimed to take full advantage of all the things Japan is known and loved for, consistent snowfall and ramen included. We hope it shows! Enjoy.

#BRIDGETHEGAP - THE STORY from JOEY W. ELGERSMA on Vimeo.
Some only come out at night. Some never stepped foot on a track. Some never defined themselves as athletes. Yet all are inspired by a common philosophy and by the idea of using the pavements of their urban wildlife as their playground. From New York City to Moscow, from London to Zurich - they are all inspired by each other. They are unified by a responsibility to make each other improve, in the pursuit of accomplishing the unthinkable. These are the times when you share joy as much as you share pain, and you grow into a team inseparable.

KORUA Shapes - YEARNING FOR TURNING Vol. 7 - Holy Bowly from KORUA Shapes on Vimeo.
koruashapes.com
America! Land of the free, home of the onion pizza. Volume 7 follows us on a short trip to the US of A for the infamous Holy Bowly gathering. After a powder-heavy season at home in Europe, there was still some pop left in our legs as we packed our bags and hopped across the pond to Mt. Hood, Oregon. Upon arrival awaited a seemingly endless setup of jumps, bumps, hips, bowls, transitions – a true masterpiece from the crew around Krush & Snowboy Productions. The week flew by quickly in a haze of bowly-laps, parking lot hangs and Coors Banquet's, and what’s left is this short film to help us remember what a holy hell of a time we had.

KORUA Shapes - YEARNING FOR TURNING Vol. 8 - Gone Boardin' from KORUA Shapes on Vimeo.
koruashapes.com
It’s quite simple really. After a few months off-snow and our focus elsewhere, we round up the gang again for the season we love the most. It’s like a band reuniting for another tour. To play the hits. To do it all over again. That’s what it feels like for us, and it feels good. Vol. 8 is about that feeling, those moments, the weekend trips, lap after lap, the carefree fun of snowboarding together. For a few months of the year that’s a privilege we’re fortunate to have. We reflect upon all of this in the form of a short film each winter, and come December we reset the clock and start over. Until next time – we’ve gone boardin’.

POLAR LIGHT from Antti Autti on Vimeo.
Having positive attitude during the long and dark winter above the arctic circle is the only way to survive. The sun doesn’t appear above the horizon for almost two months in the northern parts of Finland. During this time it is important to take advantage of magical moment of 5 hour sunrise & sunset combo which is also known as Polar Light. Making every minute of light count can produce remarkable moments captured in this short film filled with colours and carving.

KORUA Shapes - YEARNING FOR TURNING Vol. 6 - Carve Oddity from KORUA Shapes on Vimeo.
Carve Oddity is a collection of favourite moments from the 16/17 season – including, but not limited to – riding deep powder in the forests of Japan, going on weekend mini-missions to find new zones at tiny Swiss resorts, slashing chunky slush in the halfpipe and wave-park up in LAAX, and finding surprisingly good powder in the Engadin valley late in the season. Despite difficult snow conditions we managed to have a whole lot of fun doing what we enjoy most: simply snowboarding.

Horizon Lines : EP1 : Iceland from Horizon Lines on Vimeo.
In the spirit of explorers before his time, Forrest Shearer gathers a crew consisting of Jeremy Jones, Bryan Iguchi, and surfer Kohl Christensen to travel to Iceland in search of of an idea. A plan that involved snowboarding, surfing, and new experiences. It was only here that they realized they've all visited this landscape before but only in childhood dreams. Imagine drawing a picture with snow covered peaks, peeling waves off the coastline, and a sailboat anchored in the bay. Learning from the locals this place does exist if you want it to. You just have to expand your horizon lines.
"How is it that this place does not see more snowboarding? The setup is perfect for foot-powered, high-angle riding—hundreds of mountains laced with steep, clean, chutes. Once you’re here, access is as simple as picking a line, parking or anchoring below it, and walking straight up the 300- to 1,500-foot faces. With thick sea-level air on your side, you can tag multiple lines in a day. Is the elevation too low for trophy-hunting peak-baggers?" - Jeremy Jones

GOLD FOR THE SOUL from Different Direction on Vimeo.
´gold for the soul is about water, its energy and snowboarding. every snowboarder knows how stoked fresh snow makes us, especially when it’s falling from the sky. we get completely hyped just thinking about riding it. a fresh snowfall is just a whole load of energy waiting for someone to suck it up. we as snowboarders experience this energy first hand as it sends us charging down the mountains and through the trees with huge smiles on our faces, each face shot getting us more and more pumped.
