Oh also I have a question, no worries about answering it if you feel it’s spoilery.

I was just a bit confused about how Sun and Moon communicate with each other in your fic. Sun said Moon didn’t know where he was when he woke up and he was scared. But, then later Sun says Moon said ‘thank you’ (referring to the hat gift) Also Sun retells a few other statements from Moon.

I just wanted to know if they can talk back in forth with each other in their headspace. Or are they completely unconscious when they go off line? If so how would Sun know Moon said thank you and that he as great full for y/n’s effort)

(Side Note, I really love the way you represent the way Y/n talks to themselves in their head. It is very realistic, idk just reminds me of myself when I have doubts)

Sun and Moon when taking the backseat aren’t aware of their surroundings. (Think of it as being in a dark limbo, if you will) but they CAN still talk to each other. (Though it takes a bit for them to be able to do so just after waking up in Chapter One. If you want a direct time stamp, they started communicating when Sun locked himself in the garage in Chapter Two!)

I’ll use these to bits from the hat scene as an example:

its important to note that there will be moments in the story where Sun and Moon will be communicating away from Y/N’s ears and this is one of those moments! Keep a lookout for lack of moment or reaction, and there’s a good chance the boys are talking and exchanging information :)

If we took the bit from the right, we can concur something like this happened:

[Sun: Moon, they’re serious.

Moon: they are?

Sun: yeah. I don’t… what do I do?

Moon:

Sun: Moon?

Moon: Take it.

Sun: … Are you sure?

Moon: yeah. I’m… yeah. Yeah, I’m good. I like that.

Sun: alright.]

And in those moments where they don’t feel like sharing information each other (see: Moon keeping Sun out of the loop about Y/N not knowing about his little “Bear” jab), or can’t (see: Sun being unsure whether Moon was happy or not after meeting the kids due to him being too overwhelmed to tell him himself) they can still garner one another’s emotions!

They’ll be more hidden exchanges like these in incoming chapters! Hope this helps :’)

Don’t apologize for the rant, it was wonderful! And I’m still thinking about the 2024 meeting anyways - teen Mike meeting 2024 Mike would be one hell of a thing as well, for both of them, the younger Mike getting confronted with what is basically the end of the line for him, and realizing his older self has no intention of living. And, again with Gregory, I’m reminded of one of the first posts in this au, where Gregory says something along the lines of “I don’t know why I’m even trying to save you, you don’t deserve it.” He’s gotten to know Mike since then, obviously changed his mind, but this is the Mike he was sent back to save… and I wonder if he thinks about what he said all that time ago.

i actually have a scene that tackles exactly this and is fully fleshed out in my notes app. (And, I shit you not, was developing dialogue for just last night. we love a brain rot sync

Point blank, Michael is the hardest victim to save out of all of them. How can you save someone who doesn’t want to be saved? Without spoiling much, it is much more complicated than their usual rodeos with their prior attempts with the rest.

The Young Michael and Older Michael interaction does happen and Gregory steps aside for it. It’s a mess. The internal turmoil within the younger looking at who he grows up to be, and the elder defeated after incessant subjection to the horrors of his father’s work. Add the youngest, this little kid whose whole world had been thrown over its head and, after finally gaining a safe constant in the middle of it all, has it crumble before his eyes.

An angsty scenario overall lmao.

Your ball pit au is so awesome! I loved that bit from 2024, and it got me thinking. Honestly, I wonder if meeting 2024 Mike would be the weirdest for Gregory. After getting to know bratty teen Mike and slowly befriending the jerk, going on all those adventures with his jerk teen dad, then he meets the Mike right before his time, right before he actually became Gregory’s dad, and he’s… well, considering it looks like Pizza Sim, outwardly nice and chill and inwardly suicidal. Not like teen Mike, not like GlamMike, just… tired and in pain. That’s gotta hit hard.

oh absolutely on point.

i think what really affects him is the fact that as the events of the story transpire, Michael becomes Gregory’s best friend. This big brother/protector figure that time and time again sticks his neck out to keep Gregory safe. It’s the first time he’s ever had the chance to befriend someone like this and the knowledge that Michael is in fact Glamrock Freddy’s identity attaches Gregory even further to him.

So seeing Michael, alive yet so different, a mere few months away from the events at the Pizzaplex really… destroys this image Gregory constructed in his mind. His perception of him completely changes and instead of seeing his best friend or his dad, he sees someone he’s lost. Someone unreachable. Broken and defeated to a point of no return. Halfway dead.

And I think it shatters Gregory inside. I think it’s the very first time he’s confronted with the reality that this is the real Michael Afton, the dead one, and the sharp-minded big brother he’s grown to love never was.
